Reflective Diary week 7
In week 7 of my FMP, I began working on my film poster. I have decided to create this
product on Photoshop. This is because the software is quite easy to use but is very effective.
Many companies use this software to create posters because of its effectiveness. I began by
using the pain bucket tool to create a black background for the poster. This was because the
colour black creates a very dark and mysterious tone therefore reflecting the theme of my
trailer. I then decided to create my title for my film. I decided to go against my planned text.
This was because I thought it worked my effectively with my background. However, I am still
not certain on the idea.
After creating my title, I decided to work on the billing block. This was because I thought it
would be a bit of a challenge as the correct text would be quite hard to achieve. After
experimenting with many different texts and looking at existing billing blocks, I finally found
the correct text. I decided to go with Mesquite Std. This was because I thought it looked as
similar to billing block text as I could find. I couldn’t use exact billing block text as Photoshop
was unable to download it as it did not exist on my software.
On my poster, I also added actor’s names at the top of the product. I typed these in the
same text as my title. This is because I thought it added a nice corresponding theme for the
poster. However, this may change later on in the poster process.
This is how my poster looks so far. Obviously, the image of the girl will be changed
and replaced for my main actress. I decided to use a temporary image because I
wanted to see how a similar image t what I will take would look in my poster. This
saves much needed time as I can create my poster around this image meaning
when I get my photo, I can just swap the images, I won’t have to worry about fitting
the poster with that image. I think it looks good so far as it catches the eye, looks
very professional and also fits the theme of my product.
Later on, in the week, I imported the extra shots which I
collected over the weekend into my premier pro file. I
decided I needed more shots as I really wanted to bulk
up my trailer and some of the shots I had collected and
planned didn’t really work effectively with the edit. I also
re-shot some shots as I felt they could be improved
upon. The edit of my product as also changed. This was
mainly to do with the new shots as I wanted to fit them
in and make them work effectively alongside my older
shots.
I also decided to change my title cards in my product. This
was because I didn’t think they fir the theme of my
product or looked effective. I decided to use the same
text as I used on my poster. This was because I want
there to be a corresponding theme throughout my
product. I also changed what each title card said. I
decided to get rid of the filmstudio and director. This was
because I wanted the title card to builds some element of
suspense and I also didn’t really like my previous title
cards. However, I may add the film studio in at another
point.
