Femininity In The Yellow Wallpaper And Woman Hollering Creek
According to history, the male has always been seen as supreme head of the household in comparison
to his betrothed. In most societies females are viewed as inferior and most times in a state of infantile
dependency. The Yellow Wallpaper and Woman Hollering Creek both illustrate a homogeneous view
of male supremacy over their wives. In the Yellow Wallpaper, the woman is enforced to act in
accordance with the demands her husband sets down for her. John illustrates patriarchal authority over
her by controlling her actions, treatment, and environment despite how she feels. He denounces all
approaches she takes to inform him on her lack of progression, because as a male he has the notion
that his mind is superior compared to hers. He belittles

Financial Analysis Of The Performance Of Burberry
Introduction
In this assignment, I have chosen Burberry as the company to report. Burberry is one of the global
luxury brand leader with a long history. It operates in three regions, Asia Pacific, Europe , Middle
East, India and Africa (EMEIA) and Americas. I am interested in the firm s performance in recent
years. I am going to measure and analysis the performance of the corporate through Annual report
2015/16 and 2016/17 which published on 06 06 16 and 06 06 17 respectively.
Overview
According to the financial statement, during 2015 2017, Burberry were making profit in the three year
however the firm had a drop in the net profit constantly. In 2015, the profit for the year was 341.1m, it
was down by 7.77% to 314.6m in 2016 and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In 2017, the firm had a higher percentage of cost of sales in term of revenue than 2016, the cost of
sales was 30.11% which was higher than 2016 for 0.21%, that means the firm s gross margin in 2017
(69.89%) will also lower than the gross margin in 2016 for 0.21%. Burberry had a higher net
operating expenses in 2017. The net operating expenses was 55.63% which was higher than 2016 for
1.56%, that also lower the operating margin, therefore the operating margin for the firm has decreased
from 16.02% to 14.26% ( 1.76%).
The 9.9m put option liability finance income in 2016 turn to 3.2m finance charge, so the net finance
income dropped for 88.19% to 0.5m. This lead to a 5% decline in profit before tax from 415.6m to
394.8m. Moreover for the profit for the year, Burberry had a drop of 8.55% to 287.7m from 314.6m.
The trend of the firm is decreasing in related to the three financial years. The reason of the decline can
be due to the increase of the geopolitical concern in the Middle East and Russia and Uncertainty in
Eurozone. These factors have any huge negative impact on the performance of the luxury sector.

The Greatest Leader Of History
Adolf Hitler has been looked upon as a Genius, the most evil being to ever walk the Earth, and as the
Greatest Leader in History. He was born in Braunau am Inn, Austria Hungary on the twentieth of April
in 1889 and lived for fifty six years. He accomplished what unimaginable feats before he committed
suicide on the eve of defeat by the Red Army two days after his marriage to Eva Braun on the thirtieth
of April in 1945. His rise to power began with the Brüning administration after years of politics before
he was appointed as Chancellor and eventually elected to power before he created the most
memorable time in modern history; The Holocaust. During his earlier years, particularly those of
1919, he was made an intelligence agent and assigned to gather said information from the German
Workers Party. During this process, he ended up getting recruited into the party as member 555. He
was lulled by Anton Drexler s social views in which he had a particular agreeance to. It was in this
part that he met Dietrich Eckart, who became Hitler s Mentor in the Thule Society. Sometime after,
the German Workers Party changed their name to the National Socialist German Workers Party to
make themselves sound more appealing to the masses. It was at this time that Hitler created the well
known swastika banner associated with this party. No more than five months after becoming a party
member, gave a famous speech against the Treaty of Versailles, Jews, and Marxists in February of
1920. It was

How To Eisenhower A Good President
Many people think that Dwight D. Eisenhower didn t do much during his presidency. That s not true
he actually did many things. Some people say he didn t take much action during his presidency. That s
not true either, he just tried to do things without taking unnecessary actions. He had more experience
than a lot of presidents with Military, which helped him to make those decisions. Eisenhower did
many more things than just being in the military.
Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in Texas in 1890 (whitehouse.gov). When he was a year and a half
his family moved back to Abilene, the family had lived there before, but moved to Texas because of a
job. Eisenhower had some pretty impressive accomplishments during his life, even before presidency.
He got accepted into the United States Military Academy, West Point, and graduated. He was
president of Columbia University, and moved up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it wasn t until 1952 that he actually started running for president. His slogan was I like Ike , Ike
was his nickname. Eisenhower had a clear lead throughout most of his run, though he did have some
issues. One of them was that there was a scandal about Nixon using campaign funds for personal use,
this was also a pretty serious issue considering that Eisenhower had promised that his campaign would
be very clean. Eisenhower ran against Taft in the first election, and he ran against Adlai Stevenson in
both elections. Eisenhower won both elections. He ran two terms and because of that there were many
things that happened during his presidency. When Eisenhower first got into Presidency the Korean
War was still going on, but he ended it by making a deal with the Chinese. He considers this to be his
greatest presidential accomplishment. Eisenhower balanced the budget three times. And he signed the
Federal Highway Act of 1956, this created many of the highways we have

Pros And Cons Of Body Soul Dualism
LONG ANSWER QUESTIONS
1) The first argument in favor of body soul dualism is The Argument from Subjectivity. This argument
basically states that we know what something can do by looking at it or even think that we know what
it does based off of our own experiences. In other words, There is something that it is like to be that
thing (person, animal, etc). We can only make this suggestion about the things mentioned in the last
sentence, and not about things like shoes, rocks, or books. All these things do not make any movement
or do anything all throughout the day (thinking, moving, etc), so the argument would be pointless. In
the book they used an example of bats, saying that There is something that it is like to be that thing.

Sometimes we might think that they are just seeing a light or meeting other people who have also
died, or someone supernatural like Jesus or God and seeing another world or scenery. Most of the
times when we see a person who is dead in a casket we think they are laying down feeling peaceful
without having fear that they might die one day because they already are. I d say that when we die we
will not stress, worry, or have to think anymore for eternity. Until life comes again after death, we all
will experience the silent treatment of not knowing anything anymore or having to stress or worry
about the things we have done or did while living on earth. Those people who do have near death
experiences just visualize seeing hell or heaven depending on the life they have lived or is living now
and might think that death is coming soon because of their faults. Some people have near death
experiences because they know that they have sinned (which we all have done) and think that since
god says do not sin that their time to visit him is to come sooner than later or sooner than what they
think it may be. A lot of people who has lost someone close in their life feel like whenever they die
that they will soon meet that person again because we all are going to die and leave the

School Education And The State Of Louisiana
austerity imposed upon collegiate education in the state of Louisiana, the program has succeeded
beyond all expectations as graduation data illustrate.
Education. An example of an accelerated program in Education is the one offered at Walden
University. The school provides three accelerated MSED specializations to help students complete the
degree faster: (1) Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (Grades K 12); (2) Elementary Reading and
Literacy (Grades PreK 6); and (3) Teacher Leadership (Grades K 12). The program can be completed,
depending on specialization, in as few as 12 months at a cost of about $10,000, a significant tuition
savings. Walden s goal is to have the same academic standards for the accelerated program that is has
with its regular programming. Employing self directed and non self directed online coursework,
students are trained to help diverse student populations thrive in the classroom by deploying the latest
education theories and evidence based strategies.
Finding the Right Program
More universities now offer online M.S. programs because online education in general has become
more accepted and more popular among students, professors and administrators. The coursework and
material will be quite similar to what is presented in regular colleges. The big difference is the
schedule. Students usually have access to their courses 24 hours per day. They can now handle family
and work obligations, and still have time to be students without quitting work

Pros And Cons Of Book Catalogue Vs. Online Catalogue
PROS AND CONS OF RETRIEVAL TOOLS
 Book Catalogue VS Online Catalogue
Book Catalogue is the old version of catalogue which is commonly used in American libraries to find

Burials are one of the main sources of knowledge...
Burials are one of the main sources of knowledge concerning the Early Bronze Age. The most
common practice during this time was placing several generations of one family in the same cave or
tomb with a variety of offerings, such as pottery vessels, jewelry, and metal objects. In most cases,
skeletal remains were found disarticulated with the skulls separated from the bodies. For example, at
Tell Asawir bones were packed in pottery jars; at Azor there is some evidence of cremation; and at
Jericho the skulls were separated and arranged in rows (Mazar 1990). Shaft tombs were found at some
sites, such as the vast cemetery at Bab edhDhra , where the Early Bronze Age I phase includes several
thousand shaft tombs. As no settlement was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At other sites, such as Megiddo, the shafts are elaborate and square, and they lead into a cave with
several rectangular rooms (Mazar 1990). They generally contained one or more disarticulated
individuals. The grave goods usually included only some pottery vessels and sometimes a number of
copper weapons (e.g. a dagger and/or a spear); beads were found with female remains.
The use of caves for multiple burials became popular again in the Middle Bronze Age IIB C after a
long gap. This method suited an urban society in which families wished to bury their dead in the same
place over several generations. Dozens of rich burial caves from this period at Jericho are good
examples of the custom. The bodies were laid on a wooden bed in the center of the cave. A similar
practice from a possibly earlier date is evident at the cemetery of Baghuz near Mari (Mazar 1990). At
Jericho, older burials were pushed to the sides to allow room for the new ones on the bed or near it.
Dozens of individuals were found in the same cave, together with a rich collection of burial gifts,
including pottery vessels (some with food remains), wooden containers, weapons, tools, jewelry, and
seals. A particular feature of the Jericho tombs is the preservation of organic material, namely wooden
furniture (Mazar 1990). Variations between cemeteries in close proximity may indicate either a
chronological sequence or the possibility that related tribal

concerns about the verbal allegations. I ve written a brief summary of the event. Roughly 35 30
minutes left for the shift. We had received an email on the new closing call protocol and a few of us
were discussing the verbiage. Mac and I were discussing how we could put in place the new closing

and asked what I was doing. I answer that I was working, and asked if she needed my help anything.
She responded with no , but that I looked like I wasn t working and implied that I should be on the
phone taking calls. If memory serves me correct, if you aren t busy you should be ready. She then
asked if I was even on the phone. This was the first day that a few of us were told not to be in the
phones, so I was not logged in to take calls. I told her I was finishing up some work and I did not
engage after I replied. I turned to my computer to complete an email on the dispute inbox. I was
following up on it being cleared and let Bobbie Jo and Art know that I left a few emails in there until
Monday. While I was finishing this, Mac was voicing her concerns about forgetting the new closing

What Is Medea s Treatment Of Women In Greek Society
In the play Medea, the author Euripides emphasizes that the harsh treatment the main character,
Medea, receives throughout the play reflects how women are treated in Greek society. The hardships
of women in Greek society can be mainly seen by Medea passionate soliloquies. Medea speaks about
how looked down upon, due to the fact that she a woman from a foreign country that holds more
intellect than most men in the city where she currently resides. Even Jason, her husband, betrays her
trust by marrying another woman because he deems her as useless to him. Though it causes Medea
great despair, the people who surround her do not frown upon Jason for finding another woman even

Medea is comparing that the process of getting a husband is like buying yourself to be sold into
slavery. Women cannot have the benefit of choosing whether they want a husband or not because
having a husband is crucial in Greek society during this era. It was a law that women had to be
represented by a guardian, who was normally the women s fathers or husbands. Women were not
given rights to be independent or take care of themselves. So in order for a woman to ensure her
survival, she must flatter a man into becoming her husband with either money or personality.
Personality wise, women must be obedient because men view women as their trophy and believe that
the only reason for their existence is to give birth. Men take a master over our bodies suggest that a
husband s ownership even goes to the extent that the bodies of their wife/wives do not belong to them
anymore. Men control what they want and put a label on what they deem is necessary to claim in
order to make women feel dependent on them. The powerful diction of the use of the word evil
suggests that the thought of a woman s body not belonging to them anymore is far worse than the
process of gaining a husband. Taking possession of a body completely breaks a woman because it is
their pride and joy. Once you break it, it will never be the same again and women will feel helpless.
However, They must comply with the wishes of their husbands or else they will face the dire
consequence of violence and

Thomas More Paradox
Thomas More wrote his ideas in 1516 in England. He was the son of a lawyer and had his education at
Oxford. He followed his father s footsteps and turned out to be an excellent lawyer. He became a
respected writer, historian and philosopher as well, and wrote many important books. During this time
he made numerous important friends, such as Desiderius Erasmus, and became an adviser of King
Henry VIII. More was very religious, and a leader of the counter reformation. This was quite a
paradox, since persecuting protestants was about as opposite to the religious tolerance described in
Utopia as it could get. Europe and England were both still based on the feudalistic system in which the
rich nobles had all the power. The life of the poor was

Relationship Between A Mother And Daughters Essay
Almost every woman in North America has some form of a relationship with their daughter or mother,
or both. However, these relationships can vary in amiability and affection. Whether due to similarities
or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close confidants or
fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch and Sharon M.
Varallo in their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of family photographs, respectively. In this
essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze two different mother
daughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two relationships differ
vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying characteristics of both
friendship and animosity. Overall, these two mother daughter relationships demonstrate that the love
between a mother and a daughter can be expressed in various ways.
Gilmore Girls follows the lives of three women in the Gilmore family. Rory, the youngest, is a
teenager at the beginning of the show. She is an only child and was raised by her single mother,
Lorelai, in the small town of Stars Hollow, Connecticut. Lorelai is in her thirties throughout the show.
She became pregnant with Rory when she was sixteen, and left her wealthy parents home to raise
Rory alone. Emily, the eldest Gilmore girl, is in her fifties and sixties during the show. She and her
husband are

They generated an idea of creating financial tools built around an index that was familiar to every
energy company, that of degree days. Unlike many other financial products it was easy to create this
index, because weather is independently measured. As people have different opinions on which way
the weather index was going to go (warmer or colder) then a market was, in principle, possible. At
first insurance companies were unimpressed so Enron decided to act as a risk capacity provider to start
the market. In 1997, the first major deal took place between three US energy companies, which
created sufficient publicity to persuade insurance companies into the market. The underlying issues
about data and pricing were also being resolved. In the UK, the first weather derivative deal was sold
by Enron to Scottish Hydropower who, at that time, 1998, were taking part in a government pilot
scheme for the privatization and deregulation of energy markets.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Norman Rockwell s Breakfast Table...
Norman Rockwell was a 20th century American painter and much of his work is a reflection of the
American culture.
Breakfast Table Political Argument was painted in 1948 during the presidential elections in the United
States. It is a narrative art, whereby it uses visual image to convey some truths. Its purpose is to show
us reality by way of detail, by setting of scene and by representation of two characters in a certain
situation. Rockwell was known for painting idyllic scenes of ordinary American life depicting a
happily ever after scenario. However, Breakfast Table Political Argument among others that Rockwell
painted depict scenes of marital discord that contradict the popular media representation of

He is extremely angry which can be seen from the way he leans forward threateningly. His wife shows
more restraint and sits back, straight backed against her chair and stares at her husband sulkily. The
wife s stoic demeanour and with her arms defiantly crossed at the chest suggest an empowerment
which the man is uncomfortable with. Here we see two contrasting halves to the painting. On the left
we see anger, discord and noise in the man and the child at his feet. On the opposite side we see
calmness with the quiet dog and control with the restrained woman. There is a juvenile tendency to her
response. One can question whether her stance is a representation of the early response of women who
had recently been given the right to vote. The women have won, but as of yet they are not confident to
retaliate to men s verbal violence against their achievement. Could this be the indifference Virginia
Woolf refers to in her essay about women and nationalism? Are we to conclude that the man is
compelled to fight? He is after all displaying his sex characteristic which she does not share and
because he does not share her maternal instinct he is oblivious to the crying of the child at his feet and
continues to shout at his wife. Further analysis of Rockwell s painting from a feminist perspective in

Primark Case
Building a clothing brand from the ground up in the U.S. can be a daunting task for a mid size
entrepreneurial start up. Given the competitive nature both domestically and internationally, every
avenue for increased market share must be explored. The apparel industry in particular is constantly
changing due to evolving fashion trends which is stimulated by social media. In order to keep pace,
we must continuously offer innovative and unique products to help maintain and grow our existing
business. In the event of failing to innovate and upgrade our products, sales will be adversely
impacted and create excess inventory. As a result of this, clearance sales and widespread markdowns
will help clear the inventory but will ultimately dilute the brand. The current market outlook for the
clothing industry in the U.S. can be described as rocky at best. Major brands such as J. Crew,
Abercrombie Fitch, and Gap have struggled mightily. Gap, once the world leader in specialty apparel,
has particularly fallen on hard times. Over the past decade, sales have fallen 8% and in June 2016, the
clothing giant plans on closing one quarter of its stores in North America (Faster, Cheaper Fashion,

A Future Chief Executive Officer
Thought experiment #2 Carley Hansbrough
As a future Chief Executive Officer there are several things I would want to strategize after viewing
the video concerning the financial economy. There is massive change that is going to hit our economy.
We have to prepare and create solutions to defeat disaster that is head towards us. The Accelerated
Crash Course presented by Chris Martenson, reviews three things in vast detail concerning our natural
inhabitants and our economic standing. These three things are: Economy, energy, and environment.
These three E s show how our world will soon be in a downturn. With our global economy and many
others suffering from major debt we are not able to achieve a logical way to dissolve our own debt.
There are four parts that he discussed which make up the economy and that has brought us to the
changes that have occurred. Exponential profit growth in our economy has lost it value because of the
way many view the dollar bill today. There are many that see it as being readily available and in our
current state it is not. Exponential growth can be described as things that grow over time such as
stocks and bonds. Money can be described as an entitlement to something however, not wealth. The
perceived value of money will either have inflation or deflation. The amount of money that is being
created is causing the value of it to decrease. We must bring more value back to our money system and
this will cause growth throughout our economy. The

The Defense Commissary Agency ( Deca ) Essay
Misawa Commissary Overview: The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has been serving the U.S.
armed forces and their dependents for many years. This military exclusive grocery chain is
conveniently located on many bases, even having a store right here in Misawa. The Misawa
commissary like many other grocery stores, sells various products including a large selection of fresh

fresh sushi, rotisserie, and bakery. All of these products are offered at prices usually equal to or

there are no high involvement products, meaning there are no products which have high price tags like
that of a house or vehicle, and comes with no risk or buyers remorse, unless they try a new product
and they do not like it (citation). Throughout the store are various low involvement products such as
shampoo, pasta sauce, and eggs. All these products are displayed the same, with similar items grouped
together, and items in the same category in the same isle. Products that are on promotion, and that are
currently being offered at exceptionally low prices, are placed on the end cap of each of the
nonperishable item aisles. Promotional item placement along with the Misawa commissary staff

The Hierarchy Of Structure And Agency
There is a constant debate about the primacy of structure or agency in forming human behavior in the
social science. Carlsnaes (as cited in Hay, 1995) claimed that the problem of structure and agency is ...
the central problem of social and political theory . Radically, the agency structure problem is an
ontological problem which is related to the nature of structures, agents and their correlations (Wight,
2003). There are four influential positions in the structure agency debate: structuralism,
intentionalism, structuration theory and critical realism (Hay, 1995). In his book, structuralism
emphasizes the dominance of structure rather than agency on behavior. It is a structure centered
approach, arguing that structures constrain and even determine agency in the relationship between
structure and agency. However, intentionalism highlights the agents in explaining behavior. It is an
agency centered approach that regards structures as the product of intentional acts. Structuration
theory presents a developed attempt to transcend the dualism in which structure and agency are
connected externally. It argues for the duality of structure . Critical realism is based on a dialectical
cognizance of structure and agency, striving to overcome the dualism of the two. It links to strategic
relational approach . This essay will argue that structure and agency is a dialectical unity of
relationship, and they entail and affect each other. In exceptional circumstances, they can be

Induction And Hypnotic Induction
Prior to going directly to the hypnotic induction techniques, it is necessary to know the meaning of the
word induction , and its usage and application in the field of hypnotism; therefore, one definition was
chosen how this word is used in psychology and hypnotism. The Cambridge Dictionary of Psychology
(Matsumoto, 2009) defines the word induction as A form of logical reasoning in which general
principles are inferred from multiple observation , But in term of psychology it defines the word as
Any act or process of bringing about a change, as of inducing a person into the military, putting

Science Fiction In Frankenstein
Science fiction, debated among literary critics and pop culture enthusiasts alike, is a term that
categorizes thousands of works. It has multiple definitions, but there is a clear origin in Frankenstein.
Not only does the work fit into every definition of the genre, but also it spawned a new era and genre
of literature. Combining Romantic and Gothic literature, Mary Shelley began the trend of forming a
warning based off science in a hypothetical novel. Shelley s novel Frankenstein influenced literature,
along with pop culture, by creating the genre of science fiction. To propose Frankenstein as the creator
of the genre, science fiction must be properly defined. Brian Aldiss defined it as, the search for a

She influenced Emily Brontë in writing Wuthering Heights with the frame narrative that Shelley made
popular. The monster with feelings motif was greatly popularized by Frankenstein, spawning Dracula,
along with many movies both directly based off Shelley s novel and unintentional similarities. This
came along with the mad scientist trope in many movies and H.G. Wells s The Island of Doctor
Moreau. Frankenstein has become a major pop culture figure beyond literature. Movies have
transformed the monster into a completely different character. Video games use monsters that
reference the novel frequently, along with zombies related to Frankenstein s monster. Frankenstein
made its way to music with Monster Mash and several other songs. It even appeared in the musical
Rocky Horror Picture Show. It is one of the most well known monster stories ever written.

Persuasive Essay On Gun Control
One man with a gun can control 100 without one. Vladimir Lenin. This quote describes how one
person with a gun has so much control over many others that don t. It is a good example of what is
going on in society today because of all the shootings that have taken place in public, churches, and
schools. These mass shootings have created such controversy as to whether or not there should be
more gun control laws. On November 5, 2017, Devin Patrick Kelley began shooting inside of the
Sutherlands Springs Church killing more than 20 people including children. Before this tragic
incident, he had a history of domestic violence towards his ex wife and child which he was charged
with disorderly conduct . Due to his criminal history, he managed to buy a rifle, that was used in the
shooting, legally by lying on the background check paperwork indicating he had no criminal history.
This was months after the Las Vegas shooting that had taken place on October 4, 2017 causing more
than 50 fatalities. These shootings were committed by convicted felons and/or mentally ill individuals
who have made it clear that the purchase of guns are easy and simple. These individuals had access to
firearms because they had either gained authorization by the government or purchased it illegally by
giving false information on paperwork. This has become a threat to many US citizens, for some do not
feel safe because nowadays anyone can easily purchase a gun. Most people would agree that more gun
control laws would not make much of a difference in the purchase of guns, however more gun control
laws should be enacted because it can decrease the amount of criminals that own a gun, it can decrease
the amount of homicides and suicide deaths, and it can prevent dangerous situations such as public
shootings.
Guns have been a big problem in society today, and those that stand behind the guns have taken the
lives of innocent people. This leads to why more gun control laws should be enacted because it can
decrease the amount of criminals that own unregistered guns. Convicted felons have purchased guns
through gun shows or through personal connections based on the evidence provided by Amy Sherman.

The Semantic Phenomena Of The Human Language Essay
Introduction
Semantics is the study of meaning that is used to understand people s words and linguistic theories
developed in modeling human language to understand the pragmatic semantic relations that exist
between the words. Sense relations have been the interest of philosophers, psychologists, linguists and
language teacher and each of them provided theories about lexicon relations related to their own field
and some approaches were made in order to study sense relations and they were 1 Pragmatic: the
linguistics phenomena are focused on the use of sense relations and their position in the human mind2
Psycholinguistic: providing a psychological model of the information and procedures involved in the
semantic phenomena of the human language. Sense relations are considered with the meaning of the
words, how they man what they suppose to mean, how they happen inside the human mind and how
they are used in writing and speaking. This can be helpful for linguists, translators, teacher and
lexicographers when they are compiling and revising a dictionary. Also sense relations are considered
an open set items, which means there s no restriction on the richness of their meaning because they
belong to a huge substitution sets and they are constantly updated on the syntactic and semantic levels.
Chaffin and Herrmann (1988) noted that sense relations have characteristics of concepts and they tend
to be abstract ones, which means that these sense relations don t come out of

Masculinity In Old Spice
Some say that it grants what it truly promises, others say it is only our imagination. The portrayal of
masculinity and manliness are quite prevalent in most of the old spice ads. Given the obvious scope of
the ad, which is to sell the product, the ad seems to portray other things. Masculinity shows itself in
the ad through different mannerisms. The appearance of the man, the behavior the man is seen to have,
and the sexuality. The Smell Like A Man ad is seen to portray two different ideals. One of which
promotes the viewer to want to become a masculine man. The other, however, lays claim that the
product will help in achieving this form of masculinity, not in a physical sense but in a mental sense.
The most portrayed ideals in the Old Spice ads are dominance, strength, and competitiveness of the
manly figure. The ad is somewhat targeted towards women to buy their partner old spice in order for
him to become a man. That is shown when the character states that Your man can smell like a man if
he uses Old Spice (Old Spice). The sense of domination over the man watching the ad is obvious. The
man in the ad is physically fit and shows that through his confidence when he tells the women, who
are also watching, to look back at me (Old Spice). Following that up with a statement that separates
the man in the ad from the man watching claiming that he is not like me (Old Spice). Thus leaving the
women watching in a desperate state to make their man like the man in the ad. After

Crohn s Disease In Cow Milk
Briefly, The physiological breakdown of two cow milk proteins casein and lactoglobulin to amino

a window of opportunity to cure autism at an early age. Because cow milk caseins produce enough

Crohn s Disease : Scientific evidence indicates that it is not primarily an autoimmune disease but
rather a bacterial infection caused by Johne s Disease in cows, the bacteria being MAP
(Mycobacterium avium paratuberculosis). The symptoms of these cows are identical to those of
persons with Crohn s Disease. It has been established that MAP passes into cow milk and is not
destroyed by pasteurization. The MAP then enters the intestinal tissue as a saprophyte, not creating
any symptoms. A very severe emotional stress activates the MAP and it becomes active in the
intestinal tissue. The reaction of the body is to send antibodies to the intestines but as they can not

From 0°C to 30°C there is a gradual increase of absorbency which shows that as the temperature
increases it is denaturing the cell wall and cell membrane and allowing the beetroot pigment to leek

As soon as the sample of beetroot is placed into the distilled water diffusion occurs naturally, which is

At the temperature 40°C, the first result I collected from this temperature was 0.75 arbitrary units and
from the re test results at the same temperature I got 0.41 arbitrary units. This is a difference of 0.34

This piece of data is not what I would have expected due to the first set of results, although the data at

Evaluation of Practical Work:
The anomaly which I have identified at 40°C is 0.41 arbitrary units this could be due to the size of the
sample of beetroot used, if the sample was smaller than the other samples it was have less pigment
which would suggested why the result is lower than expected. Another suggestion for why the result is
lower than expected could be due to the loss of pigment in the preparation process, or from where the
sample was taken from on the beetroot.
If the sample was taken from the centre of the beetroot the sample may have had more pigment
contained within the cells, but if the sample was taken from closer to the surface of the beetroot it

Hitler and the Nazi s came to power after Hitler had a public place to address his thoughts and

was just the beginning of the Nazi violence. The Munich Putsch gave a short term impact as they

Himmler s decision of exterminating Jewish people in Europe geographically changed as 6 million
(80%) of Jewish people in Europe were brutally murdered. This is obviously one of the main long

Star of David arm bands, and having a J on their passports, which makes it easier for the Nazi s to spot
Jewish people. Another short term impact includes Jewish students going into Jewish only schools,
before being forced into concentration camps. This also left significance and impact as Winston

Lives inside the camps were the most significant to those who were witnesses, as sexual experiments,
murders, deaths and harassments were everyday rituals in which the Nazi s have performed. The

significance outside Germany. Lucky survivors were left scarred as they are traumatised, homeless,

In other to prevent obesity, cities and counties have to encourage food retail establishments to promote
healthier options through law and inducement. Retail food establishments like, chain restaurants,
corner stores, supermarkets, farmers markets, and mobile vendors affect public health. Public officials
have advocated a range of policy options to cities for improving access to healthy food and decreasing
the popularity of unhealthy food in various retail food settings (Diller and Graff). Paul A. Diller and
Samantha Graff convey to readers that Regulating retail food establishments can be a powerful tool
for improving a community s food environment, especially in low income food deserts areas that lack
full service supermarkets and restaurants and are saturated with fast food restaurants and liquor stores.
Cities challenging unusual obesity rates are considering numerous governing policies for expanding

states, cities or counties exercise the police power that is, the authority to regulate for the health,

of dividing state and local power that allows municipalities to exercise only those powers directly

God or otherwise were present in the unfolding of the story. When Booth was born, his mother

however, I believe the word in the flames and the supposed fortune actually specifically influenced

Close Reading Essay-Mr. Palomar By Italo Calvino
Close reading Essay Mr. Palomar Mr. Palomar by Italo Calvino is different and unique comparing to
any other novels. The author instead of telling a story, he gives the readers glimpses of the life and the
thoughts of the main character which is different comparing to any other text that we read. The story is
told through an omniscient narrator where us (readers) are the observer of Mr. Palomar s life which is
the main character. The story is broken into three sections such as the Mr. Palomar on the beach, Mr.
Palomar in the city and The Silences of Mr. Palomar where each sections reveals information about
the Mr. Palomar personality but leaves us questioning because we don t know who Mr. Palomar truly
is. The author on each sections mentions that Mr. Palomar likes to observe the nature where he is
always questioning why. On section Mr. Palomar in society (3.2) On biting the tongue (3.2.1.) the
author utilize the third person narrative to describe how Mr. Palomar relationship is between the self
and the world, therefore the narrator gives us more insight details of Mr. Palomar in the society. In

Palomar personality with the descriptions given from the third person narrative. We examine that Mr.
Palomar doesn t just observe things but he questions and analyze them in order to meet his experience
with the relationship within him and the world. Based on the details we know that Mr. Palomar
thoughts about the animals in the zoo has some type of relationship with the cosmos. The narrator
mentions that In the first case Mr. Palomar would reveal that his thinking does not proceed in a
straight line but zigzags it way through vacillations, denials, corrections, in whose midst the rightness
of that affirmation of his would be lost (Pg. 103) As a matter of fact, as the audience we are told that
Mr. Palomar thinking process is not successive since he runs into many issues just by processing

What Are The Similarities Between Soccer And Soccer
Hockey and soccer are two vastly different sports, both requiring different skillsets and being played
very differently. Both games do not only vary athleticism needed to properly play them, but also in
how the game is generally played, and how easy each game is to pick up and play. First of all, both
soccer and hockey require very different athletic skillsets in order to be played at a professional level.
To start off, hockey and soccer both have different objects they are trying to handle, hockey is a puck
that you try to control with a stick, and soccer has a ball and uses the player s feet. In soccer you
mainly use your feet to control the object, and since people naturally already use their feet in everyday
life as opposed to hockey sticks, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hockey players, as compared to soccer players, need to keep track and control a much smaller object
that moves at significantly greater speeds, requiring them to be extremely well coordinated. However,
soccer players need to control something bigger than their own heads that moves a lot slower than a
hockey puck. Speaking of speed, hockey goalies need insanely fast reflex times in order to actually
save a shot. Some may argue that goalies in hockey may take up to 50% of the goal compared to the
less than 10% which is taken by soccer ones, but that doesn t mean it s easy to save a goal. The puck
still moves at up to 175 km/h and the goalkeeper s view is usually blocked by multiple people
standing in front of him. Finally, since hockey players tend to move a lot faster around the rink than
soccer players do on the field, they need to make much quicker decisions on what plays to make since
they ll reach the opposing team s goal faster and have the constant threat of being knocked down. My
final point is how easy each game is to pick up and play, and for this one, soccer wins. Soccer is much
easier to simply pick up and start a game with your friends since it requires much less practice to be
able to do okay in and needs much less equipment. Two pairs of shoes for goals, and a soccer ball and

School Lunch Menu
Specify a large population that you might want to study and describe the type numeric measurement
that you will collect (examples: a count of things, the height of people, a score on a survey, the weight
of something).
The lunch program at High School has been revised to align with the new dietary requirements that
increase servings of veggies and fruits and decrease calories. Giving a survey to all students about the
school lunches is what I planned on doing.
The type of numeric measurements that I would need to collect would be:
1. The number of days that student will eat in the school within the week?
2. How many students like salads and fruits as compared to other meat servings (pasta, pizza,
hamburgers and etc.?)
3. How many students eat in school per week?
4. How many students bring their own lunch per week?
5. How often do students eat the cafeteria food in a month?
6. Do you feel you have enough time to eat your lunch?
7. Explanations would change but may include the need to discover if the lunches were different and
how many students really eat school lunch, would student eat school lunch?
8. Given the new school lunch menu, how many students would like the ... Show more content on

Occasionally uncommon instances are represented by outliers. Other times they symbolize data entry
errors, or maybe data that doesn t belong with another data of interest. More robust methods of
investigation when conducting the study for the population need to be used. The next method is to
transform your data using box plot or histograms. This may serve other functions at the same time. It
may help cope with outliers, although it probably should not be used simply because there s an outlier.
A histogram is especially useful when there exists large number pf observations. The range of values

Pathos And Logos Of The Urban Legend Head On A Stick
Urban Legends: a story, usually horrific, which uses pieces of history and information to create a story
which is circulated through several generations and cultures. The person telling an urban legend more
likely than not has heard the story from someone else. Urban legends are passed down from parents,
grandparents, friends, siblings etc... The story has been morphed so many times over the years that the
true story behind the legend has been lost in the web of its new versions. Although terrifying and good
stories to tell, urban legends, such as Head on a Stick, have many loose ends to them and if picked
apart, the aspects of ethos, pathos and logos can be used to show the truth behind them. The urban
legend Head on a Stick is a story ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although this helps to add to the eerie feel of the story, it is to be expected. Another line that appeals
to the emotions is, THUMP, THUMP. The loud noise happened again, and a small scream escaped her
mouth... THUMP, there it goes again, somebody is up there! (Castle of Spirits, 14) This is the point in
the story where the action is just starting to build up and make you want to read more. Lines like these
are those thrill seeking points that make you want to read more and find out what happens next. This
urban legend has a good appeal to pathos and makes you want to keep reading it until the very end.
One of the tough rhetorical appeals to prove in writings such as these is the use of logos or the logical
appeal. Logos is hard to prove in urban legends because of our common sense knowledge, making it
hard to believe little details. Stories like this use myths and tales and think, they ve been told so many
times, someone is bound to believe it. One of the remarks that stuck out to me was in the last two
paragraphs, She struggled to turn over and face the car... at the end of the stick was her boyfriend s
head. (Castle of Spirits) Quotes like this do not add up and don t make sense. Why was he on a stick?
Where is the rest of his body? How did the monster get to her car so quickly? Urban Legends can
bring up so many questions as to what happened because the basic common sense answers do not stick
out. The use of logos did not have a

Sir Isaac Newton Essay example
Why do things fall when we drop them? How come we do not float as we would on the moon? Where
do the colors of a rainbow come from? How long would it take to drive across Colorado if you are
constantly changing speeds? All of these questions can now be answered, largely impart because of
the great English philosopher, Sir Isaac Newton. In a time where religion was at war with science,
Isaac Newton opened up people s minds to theories and reason. Isaac Newton was to be the starburst
of the Enlightenment. He became the foundation of enlightened thought. It was the 17th century, the
time of the Scientific Revolution. Many brilliant men contributed to this time, but it was Newton who
solidified their thoughts and theories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But how was he to figure out where the object would be if it constantly sped up or slowed down?
Where would the object be if it traveled around curves? This is the concept of calculus. Using his
knowledge of algebra, Newton set out to find the value of an unknown number that kept changing. He
did this by figuring out that the integration of a function was simply the inverse of differentiating it.
Newton had just developed a method for finding changing and flowing quantities (Margaret, 42). He
had just invented calculus. Newton went even further after this. With the use of calculus, he was able
to find the area under an open curve known as a hyperbola. He went on to take this answer to 52
decimal places (Margaret, 47). While Isaac Newton was very satisfied with these results, he had other
things on his mind, and he continued to amaze the world. Following his work in calculus, Isaac
Newton hardly broke stride. He continued his studies and experiments on lights and colors. In 1665,
Newton performed a number of experiments on the composition of light. With his first experiment,
Newton bought a prism. He then closed all the curtains so that he was in a darkened room. After the
room was dark, he proceeded to let a small stream of light pass through his window shuts and he
noticed that the prism broke up the white light

Trimyristin Lab Report
Aims of Experiment
To isolate trimyristin from a natural product, named nutmeg, using solvent extraction.
To purify the isolated trimyristin by recrystallization.
To get infrared spectrum of the isolated trimyristin.
Introduction
Many natural products such as medicine and cosmetic which are extracted from animals and plants are
around us. Like this, Trimyristin, which is composed of triglycerides, is that it can be isolated from
nutmeg seed. It is widely used as hair conditioner or oil. One of the important method to extract pure
trimyristin from nutmeg is reflux condenser. The reflux condenser is used in case that we want to

Then filtered the solution quickly with the stemless funnel, 32 fold filter paper and conical flask. To
get more colorless liquid, repeated this process 3 times. Then, placed the conical flask in an ice bath
and waited until crystallization finished. Isolated the purified product by suction filtration. Finally, put
half spoon of recrystallized product and Nujol powder in an agate mortar and grinded finely. Then,
made the mull and transferred the mull to the bottom salt plate of a demountable cell. Then run the
spectrum.
Precautions
Acetone, which used to mix with ground nutmeg seed and wash the residue, is not very toxic but
highly flammable and also has easily evaporable property. From this reason, we have to pay special
attention to flame around us when doing experiment.
Paraffin, which composes paraffin oil, is also flammable so that it can catch fire easily.
When adding ground nutmeg seed, acetone and heating it with heating mantle, it is important to gently
swirl the solution to avoid bumping. It can be more secure to add anti bumping

Beauty And External Appearance In Beauty By James Martin
In the play Beauty by James Martin, a conflict arise between the two main character where they want
each other s most admirable quality. Bethany is very intelligent and carla is very attractive. They both
envy one another for each others quality and are unsatisfied with their external appearances. Carla
doesn t like being attractive as guys go crazy over her, while Bethany wants guys to go crazy over her.
After Bethany is granted one more wish she decides to ask carla what they should wish for. Beauty
provides a depiction of the role external appearance plays in the way people treat one another in
modern American society. In light of peoples external appearance carrying such weight in modern
american society, it has become highly important for people to enhance their external appearance in
order to gain status.According to psychology today it is almost impossible to avoid judging someone
on their appearance. research suggests that we may need to adopt a more cynical attitude. It turns out
that a candidate s appearance not beauty, but a look of competence can generate a significant vote
swing. Furthermore, this effect is not only powerful but also subliminal. Few of us realize that
appearance determines our vote, yet for a significant number of us, it may. (how we are judge by our
appearance This means appearance is still playing a big role and americans should be using this to
their advantage. This disproves the epithet that being pretty is important and shows its

Workplace Communication Essay
U01a1 Workplace Communication
On January 28, 1986, the whole country watched as the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, killing
everyone on board. As with other major disasters in this country, you can ask any person where they
were and each one can account for that moment in time, reliving it like it was yesterday. While
everyone knows what happened, it was never made entirely clear why this tragedy happened and how
bad the breakdown in communication was behind it. Just as the memory of that disaster was fading
away, another disaster threw NASA into the spot light again, when the Space Shuttle Columbia
disintegrated upon reentry into the earth s atmosphere on February 1, 2003 (Snarski, 2007). Yet again,

I believe that if engineers were adamant about their findings and their concern for the flight, the Flight
Center would have taken them seriously and delayed the flight until the engineers could properly
study the effects of temperatures on the o rings. It seemed to be the same sort of issue with the Space
Shuttle Columbia, where the individuals involved in testing and ensuring a safe take off and landing,
with all aspects of the Space Shuttle in best possible working order were not communicating
effectively. Because there was not proper testing and incomplete information on the foam insulation,
the shuttle was pushed to launching, resulting in the disaster. I believe the single most important
aspect of both disasters was the importance of funding to the NASA program, and the appearance of
the United States to be a forerunner in Space travel. If there was not such intense pressure on NASA to
perform and maintain its advancement in the Space Program there is a high probability that the lives
that were lost on both Space Shuttles could have been saved. As for a similar instance in my
workplace, it would have to be the issues I had with one particular co worker. I was a new employee
and my preceptor was a seasoned nurse that had worked at this particular hospital for more than 20
years. Although I was new to this hospital, I was not a new nurse and was not ignorant

Who Is Helen In The Iliad
In the epic The Iliad, Helen is one of the main characters. Helen is brought into the epic when
Aphrodite, Hera, and Athena are arguing over who is the best and most beautiful goddess. This fight
comes up when they see the apple that says to the fairest on it and they all think they deserve the
apple. When Zeus is asked who is the best, he cannot decide and doesn t want to get involved in an
argument, so Paris is asked to make the decision. All three of the ladies state their great qualities to try
and persuade Paris to choose them. Hera offers Paris power and to be a ruler. Athena tells Paris she
will make him a great warrior. Aphrodite tells Paris she will give him the most beautiful woman in the
world. Paris decides to choose Aphrodite s offer. Paris hands Aphrodite the apple and requests to have
his prize. Helen is the most beautiful woman in the world, but she is married to Menelaus. Menelaus is
the Spartan king. In The Iliad, Helen is seen as a sad victim who is forced to leave her home and
husband. Other artists and authors have different views on Helen s personality. Helen can be portrayed
in many different ways and her personality can be shown through multiple forms of art. Gustave
Moreau paints many paintings to resemble Helen and each of these paintings have different meanings
and show different sides of Helen. The Helen of Troy painting three shows Helen s evil side. In this
painting, you cannot see her face. You cannot see Helen s face in most of Moreau s

In most societies females are viewed as inferior and most times in a state of infantile dependency. The Yellow Wallpaper and Woman Hollering Creek both illustrate a homogeneous view of male supremacy over their wives. In the Yellow Wallpaper, the woman is enforced to act in accordance with the demands her husband sets down for her. John illustrates patriarchal authority over her by controlling her actions, treatment, and environment despite how she feels. He denounces all approaches she takes to inform him on her lack of progression, because as a male he has the notion that his mind is superior compared to hers. He belittles ... This argument basically states that we know what something can do by looking at it or even think that we know what it does based off of our own experiences. In other words, There is something that it is like to be that thing (person, animal, etc). We can only make this suggestion about the things mentioned in the last sentence, and not about things like shoes, rocks, or books. • 10. Burials are one of the main sources of knowledge... Burials are one of the main sources of knowledge concerning the Early Bronze Age. The most common practice during this time was placing several generations of one family in the same cave or tomb with a variety of offerings, such as pottery vessels, jewelry, and metal objects. In most cases, skeletal remains were found disarticulated with the skulls separated from the bodies. For example, at Tell Asawir bones were packed in pottery jars; at Azor there is some evidence of cremation; and at Jericho the skulls were separated and arranged in rows (Mazar 1990). Shaft tombs were found at some sites, such as the vast cemetery at Bab edhDhra , where the Early Bronze Age I phase includes several thousand shaft tombs. As no settlement was ... The use of caves for multiple burials became popular again in the Middle Bronze Age IIB C after a long gap. This method suited an urban society in which families wished to bury their dead in the same place over several generations. Dozens of rich burial caves from this period at Jericho are good examples of the custom. The bodies were laid on a wooden bed in the center of the cave. A similar practice from a possibly earlier date is evident at the cemetery of Baghuz near Mari (Mazar 1990). At Jericho, older burials were pushed to the sides to allow room for the new ones on the bed or near it. Dozens of individuals were found in the same cave, together with a rich collection of burial gifts, including pottery vessels (some with food remains), wooden containers, weapons, tools, jewelry, and seals. Women cannot have the benefit of choosing whether they want a husband or not because having a husband is crucial in Greek society during this era. It was a law that women had to be represented by a guardian, who was normally the women s fathers or husbands. Women were not given rights to be independent or take care of themselves. So in order for a woman to ensure her survival, she must flatter a man into becoming her husband with either money or personality. Personality wise, women must be obedient because men view women as their trophy and believe that the only reason for their existence is to give birth. Men take a master over our bodies suggest that a husband s ownership even goes to the extent that the bodies of their wife/wives do not belong to them anymore. Men control what they want and put a label on what they deem is necessary to claim in order to make women feel dependent on them. The powerful diction of the use of the word evil suggests that the thought of a woman s body not belonging to them anymore is far worse than the process of gaining a husband. Whether due to similarities or differences in personality or circumstances in life, mothers and daughters can be close confidants or fierce foes. These familial relationships have been studied in part by Marianne Hirsch and Sharon M. Varallo in their essays on the familial gaze and the genre of family photographs, respectively. In this essay, I will be using the work previously done by Hirsch and Varallo to analyze two different mother daughter relationships presented in the television show Gilmore Girls. The two relationships differ vastly in their outward appearance, however both relationships show underlying characteristics of both friendship and animosity. There is massive change that is going to hit our economy. We have to prepare and create solutions to defeat disaster that is head towards us. The Accelerated Crash Course presented by Chris Martenson, reviews three things in vast detail concerning our natural inhabitants and our economic standing. These three things are: Economy, energy, and environment. These three E s show how our world will soon be in a downturn. With our global economy and many others suffering from major debt we are not able to achieve a logical way to dissolve our own debt. There are four parts that he discussed which make up the economy and that has brought us to the changes that have occurred. Exponential profit growth in our economy has lost it value because of the way many view the dollar bill today. There are many that see it as being readily available and in our current state it is not. Exponential growth can be described as things that grow over time such as stocks and bonds. Money can be described as an entitlement to something however, not wealth. The perceived value of money will either have inflation or deflation. Carlsnaes (as cited in Hay, 1995) claimed that the problem of structure and agency is ... the central problem of social and political theory . Radically, the agency structure problem is an ontological problem which is related to the nature of structures, agents and their correlations (Wight, 2003). There are four influential positions in the structure agency debate: structuralism, intentionalism, structuration theory and critical realism (Hay, 1995). In his book, structuralism emphasizes the dominance of structure rather than agency on behavior. It is a structure centered approach, arguing that structures constrain and even determine agency in the relationship between structure and agency. However, intentionalism highlights the agents in explaining behavior. It is an agency centered approach that regards structures as the product of intentional acts. Structuration theory presents a developed attempt to transcend the dualism in which structure and agency are connected externally. It argues for the duality of structure . Critical realism is based on a dialectical cognizance of structure and agency, striving to overcome the dualism of the two. It links to strategic relational approach . It is a good example of what is going on in society today because of all the shootings that have taken place in public, churches, and schools. These mass shootings have created such controversy as to whether or not there should be more gun control laws. On November 5, 2017, Devin Patrick Kelley began shooting inside of the Sutherlands Springs Church killing more than 20 people including children. Before this tragic incident, he had a history of domestic violence towards his ex wife and child which he was charged with disorderly conduct . Due to his criminal history, he managed to buy a rifle, that was used in the shooting, legally by lying on the background check paperwork indicating he had no criminal history. This was months after the Las Vegas shooting that had taken place on October 4, 2017 causing more than 50 fatalities. These shootings were committed by convicted felons and/or mentally ill individuals who have made it clear that the purchase of guns are easy and simple. These individuals had access to firearms because they had either gained authorization by the government or purchased it illegally by giving false information on paperwork. This has become a threat to many US citizens, for some do not feel safe because nowadays anyone can easily purchase a gun. Most people would agree that more gun control laws would not make much of a difference in the purchase of guns, however more gun control laws should be enacted because it can decrease the amount of criminals that own a gun, it can decrease the amount of homicides and suicide deaths, and it can prevent dangerous situations such as public shootings. Guns have been a big problem in society today, and those that stand behind the guns have taken the lives of innocent people. This leads to why more gun control laws should be enacted because it can decrease the amount of criminals that own unregistered guns. Convicted felons have purchased guns through gun shows or through personal connections based on the evidence provided by Amy Sherman. Sherman states, private sellers without a federal ... The portrayal of masculinity and manliness are quite prevalent in most of the old spice ads. Given the obvious scope of the ad, which is to sell the product, the ad seems to portray other things. Masculinity shows itself in the ad through different mannerisms. The appearance of the man, the behavior the man is seen to have, and the sexuality. The Smell Like A Man ad is seen to portray two different ideals. One of which promotes the viewer to want to become a masculine man. The other, however, lays claim that the product will help in achieving this form of masculinity, not in a physical sense but in a mental sense. The most portrayed ideals in the Old Spice ads are dominance, strength, and competitiveness of the manly figure. The ad is somewhat targeted towards women to buy their partner old spice in order for him to become a man. That is shown when the character states that Your man can smell like a man if he uses Old Spice (Old Spice). The sense of domination over the man watching the ad is obvious. The man in the ad is physically fit and shows that through his confidence when he tells the women, who are also watching, to look back at me (Old Spice). Paul A. Diller and Samantha Graff convey to readers that Regulating retail food establishments can be a powerful tool for improving a community s food environment, especially in low income food deserts areas that lack full service supermarkets and restaurants and are saturated with fast food restaurants and liquor stores. Cities challenging unusual obesity rates are considering numerous governing policies for expanding the convenience and accessibility of nutritious food, and diminishing the universality of fast food restaurants and obesogenic packaged food. In many home rule states, cities or counties exercise the police power that is, the authority to regulate for the health, safety, and welfare of the community concurrently with the state legislature. Both games do not only vary athleticism needed to properly play them, but also in how the game is generally played, and how easy each game is to pick up and play. First of all, both soccer and hockey require very different athletic skillsets in order to be played at a professional level. To start off, hockey and soccer both have different objects they are trying to handle, hockey is a puck that you try to control with a stick, and soccer has a ball and uses the player s feet. However, soccer players need to control something bigger than their own heads that moves a lot slower than a hockey puck. Speaking of speed, hockey goalies need insanely fast reflex times in order to actually save a shot. Some may argue that goalies in hockey may take up to 50% of the goal compared to the less than 10% which is taken by soccer ones, but that doesn t mean it s easy to save a goal. The puck still moves at up to 175 km/h and the goalkeeper s view is usually blocked by multiple people standing in front of him. Finally, since hockey players tend to move a lot faster around the rink than soccer players do on the field, they need to make much quicker decisions on what plays to make since they ll reach the opposing team s goal faster and have the constant threat of being knocked down. My final point is how easy each game is to pick up and play, and for this one, soccer wins. One of the tough rhetorical appeals to prove in writings such as these is the use of logos or the logical appeal. Logos is hard to prove in urban legends because of our common sense knowledge, making it hard to believe little details. Stories like this use myths and tales and think, they ve been told so many times, someone is bound to believe it. One of the remarks that stuck out to me was in the last two paragraphs, She struggled to turn over and face the car... at the end of the stick was her boyfriend s head. (Castle of Spirits) Quotes like this do not add up and don t make sense. Why was he on a stick? Where is the rest of his body? How did the monster get to her car so quickly? Urban Legends can bring up so many questions as to what happened because the basic common sense answers do not stick out. The use of logos did not have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. Sir Isaac Newton Essay example Why do things fall when we drop them? How come we do not float as we would on the moon? Where do the colors of a rainbow come from? How long would it take to drive across Colorado if you are constantly changing speeds? All of these questions can now be answered, largely impart because of the great English philosopher, Sir Isaac Newton. In a time where religion was at war with science, Isaac Newton opened up people s minds to theories and reason. Isaac Newton was to be the starburst of the Enlightenment. He became the foundation of enlightened thought. It was the 17th century, the time of the Scientific Revolution. Many brilliant men contributed to this time, but it was Newton who solidified their thoughts and theories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But how was he to figure out where the object would be if it constantly sped up or slowed down? Where would the object be if it traveled around curves? This is the concept of calculus. Using his knowledge of algebra, Newton set out to find the value of an unknown number that kept changing. He did this by figuring out that the integration of a function was simply the inverse of differentiating it. Newton had just developed a method for finding changing and flowing quantities (Margaret, 42). He had just invented calculus. Newton went even further after this. With the use of calculus, he was able to find the area under an open curve known as a hyperbola. He went on to take this answer to 52 decimal places (Margaret, 47). While Isaac Newton was very satisfied with these results, he had other things on his mind, and he continued to amaze the world. Following his work in calculus, Isaac Newton hardly broke stride. He continued his studies and experiments on lights and colors. In 1665, Newton performed a number of experiments on the composition of light. With his first experiment, Newton bought a prism. He then closed all the curtains so that he was in a darkened room. After the room was dark, he proceeded to let a small stream of light pass through his window shuts and he noticed that the prism broke up the white light ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To get more colorless liquid, repeated this process 3 times. Then, placed the conical flask in an ice bath and waited until crystallization finished. Isolated the purified product by suction filtration. Finally, put half spoon of recrystallized product and Nujol powder in an agate mortar and grinded finely. Then, made the mull and transferred the mull to the bottom salt plate of a demountable cell. Then run the spectrum. Precautions Acetone, which used to mix with ground nutmeg seed and wash the residue, is not very toxic but highly flammable and also has easily evaporable property. From this reason, we have to pay special attention to flame around us when doing experiment. Paraffin, which composes paraffin oil, is also flammable so that it can catch fire easily. When adding ground nutmeg seed, acetone and heating it with heating mantle, it is important to gently swirl the solution to avoid bumping. It can be more secure to add anti bumping ... • 50. Workplace Communication Essay U01a1 Workplace Communication On January 28, 1986, the whole country watched as the Space Shuttle Challenger exploded, killing everyone on board. As with other major disasters in this country, you can ask any person where they were and each one can account for that moment in time, reliving it like it was yesterday. While everyone knows what happened, it was never made entirely clear why this tragedy happened and how bad the breakdown in communication was behind it. Just as the memory of that disaster was fading away, another disaster threw NASA into the spot light again, when the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentry into the earth s atmosphere on February 1, 2003 (Snarski, 2007). Yet again, a breakdown in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that if engineers were adamant about their findings and their concern for the flight, the Flight Center would have taken them seriously and delayed the flight until the engineers could properly study the effects of temperatures on the o rings. It seemed to be the same sort of issue with the Space Shuttle Columbia, where the individuals involved in testing and ensuring a safe take off and landing, with all aspects of the Space Shuttle in best possible working order were not communicating effectively. Because there was not proper testing and incomplete information on the foam insulation, the shuttle was pushed to launching, resulting in the disaster. I believe the single most important aspect of both disasters was the importance of funding to the NASA program, and the appearance of the United States to be a forerunner in Space travel. If there was not such intense pressure on NASA to perform and maintain its advancement in the Space Program there is a high probability that the lives that were lost on both Space Shuttles could have been saved. As for a similar instance in my workplace, it would have to be the issues I had with one particular co worker. I was a new employee and my preceptor was a seasoned nurse that had worked at this particular hospital for more than 20 years.
