Rosalba Fiore provides tips for facilitating live online training. She discusses identifying learners' objectives and presenting information in chunks that learners can access asynchronously and at their own pace. Fiore emphasizes using multimedia like audio, video, photos and slideshows to engage learners. She recommends selecting an learning management system to create and manage the course, tracking results and creating reports. Fiore also stresses relating course content to real-world scenarios so learners can apply what they learn.

Sherborn: Evenhuis - Charles Davies Sherborn and The Indexer’s ClubICZN
Charles Davies Sherborn was an indexer. And he followed a long line of indexers. And a longer line of indexers followed him. They/we are all members of “The Indexer’s Club”. A club of obsessed individuals who, for some weird reason, find it necessary to not only facilitate a semblance of order, but to make sometimes incredibly huge amounts of information available to others [sacrificing their social lives and labouring on what spouses and colleagues may consider esoteric projects in order to save others from the same work]. And in doing so, encumbering most of the day and the wee hours of the night with a passion and fervour few other human beings can even begin to understand. This presentation will explore the bits of Sherborn’s life that led to that passion for indexing; and touch upon the impact he has had on bibliographies and researching the dates of publication; upon nomenclature; and upon the indexing of names — and it will attempt to explain why he did this and where we all can go as a result.
Sherborn: Robinson - Sherborn’s Index Animalium integration into ION: access ...ICZN
As a list of zoological taxonomic names used in the scientific literature, the Index to Organism Names (ION) has provided a reference service to researchers for a number of years, based on the content of international publications analysed for inclusion in Zoological Record®. However, this content is limited to names included in Zoological Record (1864-present). This project extends the names database and brings new opportunities through collaboration between the Smithsonian Institute, Thomson Reuters, and the Biodiversity Heritage Library to provide a more complete resource to compliment other taxonomic names services.

How to Customize Presentations & content to Buyer learning StylesDan Galante
Creating customer centered presentations that engage customers are essential. Previously I spoke about how to accomplish this. However, another key element to creating both customer centered presentations and digital content is knowledge of buyer learning styles. In other works, how do buyers learn best.
There are three learning styles, Visual, Auditory & kinaesthetic. 65 percent of learners are Visual but this is not everyone. In the presentation below, I provide you with ideas and strategies to
1. Collect information on your buyers learning style
2.Create presentations and content that will engage buyers with content that is optimized to their learning style making it more engaging
3. Create differentiated presentations and content for all learners when buyer learning styles are unknown.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.

Neuro-symbolic is not enough, we need neuro-*semantic*Frank van Harmelen
Neuro-symbolic (NeSy) AI is on the rise. However, simply machine learning on just any symbolic structure is not sufficient to really harvest the gains of NeSy. These will only be gained when the symbolic structures have an actual semantics. I give an operational definition of semantics as “predictable inference”.
All of this illustrated with link prediction over knowledge graphs, but the argument is general.

Adult education raises problems whose solutions are very different

10. KEY - Child vs. Adult
PEDAGOGY ANDRAGOGY
The child is at the beginning , he
has no knowledge. The children are
all at the same starting point
The adult has personal experiences
and education different from that
of other adults
The teacher knows the curriculum they

The trainer must continually shaping

Motivation is related to internal
pressures
11. KEY - The need to know
Before starting :
They want to know WHY must learn something
So, they spend a lot of energy to EXPLORE the advantages
that will have from learning
12. KEY - The self-concept
• Persons responsible for their decisions .
• They want to be treated and considered as people who can manage
themselves.
• If they think that others are trying to impose them their will , they reject it.
• They are victims of the training they had received in their previous school
experiences : cross their arms , they sit down and say,
" Teach me , if you can ."
13. KEY - The Willingness to Learn
• Adults are willing to learn what they need to know
• Adult know how to deal with situations in their real life .
They sacrifice time they do not want and can
not LEARN TO LEARN
14. KEY - The motivation
It is not correct to think that adults become available to training for

A successful course starts with effective planning.
18. 1 2 3
Identify your students objectives.
CHUNK must be:
sequential (Synchronous / Asynchronous) + Without Time Rate Mandatory
• They are looking for specific information
• They hate necessarily need to complete your entire course in order to get it.
IDEA
Present the information in chunks STUDENTS JUMP
19. Chunks? Create a storyboard.
It is a great way to visualize your course. You will:
• Identify subjects that you will cover.
• Organize the sequence in which you’ll present information.
• Identify the links between different subjects and how they relate to each other.
• Plan which media sources you’ll need.
• Consider assessment tools.

• A learning management system provides instructors with all of the tools they need to
create a quality eLearning course.
• Manage your course
• Track your results
• Create reports
• Often include templates for course-planning, multimedia, games, quizzes and more
28. Information into real-world scenarios.
• How be applying the information
• What are their various backgrounds, personal and professional goals?
• How can you make your course relevant to them?
• Use scenarios, analogies and stories
• Build a bridge between the content of your course and their real lives.
• Provide practical uses for the course content are more effective and more
successful.
• Real-world examples to keep students engaged.
31. 1. Waring - HOSTILE
• When you post an online video, you don’t have a captive audience.
• You have just the opposite: an easily distracted, easily bored audience
that can click away at any time.
A large percentage of teachers believe that video adds to the quality of
a course, improves understanding of content, and increases learner
motivation – not just among students, but also among teachers
themselves.
32. You aren’t Steven Spielberg
• Video doesn't have to be Hollywood quality to be effective for teaching.
• It needs to be clear and brief.
• Know what you want to capture and then try to do so in the shortest amount
of time as possible.
• Gives the learner more control over how they can access and what they
access.
33. Tip
You can even produce a special mash-up
video for revision using a mix of the most
important video lessons.
34. 1. Keep it short
Psychologists say that the average human sustained attention span is 20 minutes.
But for online videos, it seems to be about 60 seconds.

• Most videos lose viewership overtime.
• Distracted, bored, or realize that the video is not for them.
If there’s something that you really want
people to see,
it’s best to put it in the one of the first shots.
