Observation Of The Bon Ton House
The last house I observed was in the Bon Ton Historic District as well and is located at 610 South
Wilson Avenue. This house was built back in 1904 which was later than the other houses I had
previously observed. Due to the difference in time periods this house has a Colonial Revival style
which shows the colonial heritage but it also has a Craftsman style. The colonial style can be seen in
the columns, corner boards, and the front porch. This house also has a bay window which the previous
houses also included. The Craftsman style can be reflected in the overhanging eaves, and rafter tails of
the house. The roof of the house is asphalt and the foundation type of this house is different from the
previous house being stone instead of concrete.

Child Workers During The Industrial Revolution
There were child workers part of the Industrial Revolution and there were some kids that worked in
mines, and after this time the Africans became part of the Berlin Conference. After the Berlin
Conference Africa s lad became useless, and the Africans were left with nothing. During both these
time the child workers were more negatively impacted.
The children started working when they were four or five years old, and they were working full time
jobs. They would wake up at five o clock in the morning to start walking to work, and they would
walk all the way to work and back by themselves. In the coal and iron mines which are worked in
pretty much the same way. Children four to five, and seven years are employed. The quote clearly

There were dangerous machines everywhere, so there would be some kids that would get dragged into
them by their aprons. Our regular time was from five in the morning to nine or ten at night; and on a
Saturday, till eleven, and often twelve o clock at night, and then we were sent to clean the machinery
on the Sunday. John Birley was interviewed by The Ashton Chronicle on 19th May, 1849. Most
children didn t get to go to school, they didn t even get to learn to read or write at home. Some women
lost the chances of having a child, because of the positions they sat in all day and most of the night.
The women seem to suffer especially from this work, and are seldom , if ever, as straight as other
women. There is a testimony here, too, to the fact that deformities of the pelvis and consequent
difficult, even fatal, child bearing arise from the work of the women in the mines. As they took the
pain of not being able to have a child of their own, so did the African women and men, just in a
different way. They got their children taken away and some were killed or raped. They got attacked
and everyone was suffaring. They are armed in by the government and sent into various African
villages where they proceed to kill civilians of target vital infrastructure, and commit wide scale rape.

The Art of Mummification Essay
In this occupation certain persons employ themselves regularly and inherit this as a craft. (Herodotus)
Just as Herodotus recorded, mummification dates back to early 3rd millennium B.C. It may date back
many years, but was not perfected till many years later to what we officially call mummification.
(Dunand 27) We call it mummification and the bodies mummies because of the Persian word for
bitumen, which is mummia . The reason for this name is because of the dark skin of mummies, which
people mistook for bitumen. Bitumen is a mineral formed for a tar like substance. (Becket 31) One of
the main reasons to prepare the body, making it look like bitumen, was for the afterlife. After being
prepared, they are still being found this day, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most important people in the mummification process were the controller of mysteries, Lector
priest, and God s seal bearer. They were responsible for the religious preceding of the body. (Dunand
38) Many different things were mummified to be put into the elaborate tombs. Soon the process of
being mummified became well known to the royals. The royals, when they were buried, had
themselves put into elaborate tombs. (David 60) The royals thought that this idea would prevent grave
robbers from disturbing their body. Not only were the royals buried in elaborate tombs, but at times
members of nobility and officials had elaborate tombs. Common people could have elaborate tombs,
but it depended on how much money they had to spend. Along with being buried in elaborate tombs to
ward off grave robbers, they would be buried with animals to ward off spirits. The cultures of many
people believed that the bull, baboon, cat, bird, and crocodiles were sacred. ( Encyclopedia 2) They
would specially have the animals mummified to resemble the gods in their religion. (Grace 24) Many
cultures mummified there dead, but Egyptian s were the most popular. Egyptians dates back all the
way to six thousand years ago. They believed that death was the doorway to the next life and that the
body needed to be intact to be accepted into the next life. (Becket 30) At first the Egyptians did not
want to bury their dead in the rich agriculture, so they buried the dead on the

`` True Freedom `` By Langston Hughes
America is known as the land of the free, but is anyone really free? One might view freedom as
abolished slavery, but true freedom gives one the ability to make choices and act on decisions. True
freedom might be gained through lessons learned from history, from accomplishing and seeing dreams
become reality, or from standing up for beliefs. Langston Hughes, an American poet known for his
writing during the Harlem Renaissance period said, In all my life, I have never been free. I have never
been able to do anything with freedom, except in the field of my writing. (citation). As a young
African American man, Hughes faced man obstacles, but writing gave him a sense of freedom of
expression. His poetry reached people of various social, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People of all nations and beliefs have the right to experience freedom from injustice and to live in
peace and equality no matter what they look like or believe. In the line, I ve seen its muddy bosom
turn all golden in the sunset, (cite) Hughes use of the words muddy bosom symbolizes brown skin.
Although some may not see the beauty in the muddiness, rivers can turn golden or beautiful in the
sunset. If people would take the time to get to know others and not judge them by their outward
appearance, they could see the beauty within the soul. Like rivers, people have a past that helped
shape them. Each person, like a river has deep roots, perseverance, and a need for freedom and
understanding. Rivers are confined by land as people are confined by laws, but just as rivers can
change course, people can change society. Langston Hughes, like the rivers in The Negro Speaks of
Rivers, preserved in the face of adversity as he forged new streams of thought.
In Harlem, another example of the struggle for true freedom is represented as Langston Hughes
questions, What happens to a dream deferred? (cite) Hughes explores the reality of what happens to
people when they are unable to accomplish

Narrative Essay On A Car Accident
Life is unpredictable and an accident can happen anytime. on our way back home from church my dad
was driving a black 2012 Toyota Highlander, which is a family car that seven people can ride in it. My
younger brother, Taw Nay Gay, and I were sitting on the seat behind the driver seat by the door. My
other two younger brothers, Gay Nay Soe and Soe K Maw, sat in the seat behind me, and my mom sat
in the front passenger seat. For the first time a nineteen year old girl like me started to believe that I
had a reason to live and my life could be taken away anytime. This happened on October first 2017,

each other about the accident. To me, I felt that they care about their car more than their life. And they
must have forgotten that their cars were not as important as their life. Therefore, they put their cars

Learning how to work together and with a large group of children is a very good skill to have.
A good parent child relationship has the great potential to evolve from being involved in sports.
(Ireland). When a child gets a sense of encouragement it usually affects the way they play and leads
them to succeed. Not only does the child get something out of it, but the parent learns how to
encourage their child while they control their competitive urge, and they tend to set goals for the child
that way they can strive to succeed in whatever thy are doing. Not only does it have the potential to
build a strong relationship with a parent or guardian but it also can help you feel better about yourself.
It gives you a drive to become healthy, boost you confidence, helps your self esteem, and also
motivates you and develops a sense of discipline. Also a big factor it helps reduce depression and the
feeling of sadness. Although people find many positives about playing organized sports, many people
found negatives in the sports. One is the fact of it being too competitive. Once a child gets the idea of
winning in their heads, or the idea that they might be better than an opposing player people get
worried that it will go too much to their heads. Just like the positives with the social skills, it can also
create negatives in social skills. Such as if a child thinks they are better than another player it can
result in people not liking that player because they

The Macro Sociology Perspective
Equality seems to be now a thing in society as people believe and that females do not need to strive
for a feminist movement, however as a female myself I still believe that we have not achieved equality
and an example of that would be the education system. I m going to connect it to two of the macro
sociology perspective. Macro sociology perspective is a sociology study that focuses on the human
society on a wide scale. One of the macro sociology perspective, I m going to talk about the
educational system for the females all around the world., not all countries practice equal education
such as Bolivia, Armenia, Pakistan and Tanzania. In Bolivia thirteen percent of adult women cannot
read and write, compared to just 5% of men, but there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, the rate of transition to secondary school is extremely low: just 32% in 2008, compared to
40% for boys. The proportion of girls completing a full secondary education was a drastically low
0.8% in 2010. Almost 1.2 million adolescent girls are out of school. The pattern is repeated for women
in adult and non formal education, with only 55% making it to mainstream school. In another macro
perspective all these countries have in common is that they are low developed countries and
developing countries which means either working class or middle class and they don t have the
enough money for education. These countries don t have the money to educate everyone even when
they decide to educate people they going to educate the men s because they are believed to be the
more dominant gender.
Now I m going to be talking about my second article and in this paragraph discusses about the taboo
and the negative stereotype that western society has on Islamic women and how they are treated in
their society. The perceptions we have developed is routed from the rules and regulations places on
women in Afghanistan among Taliban. This restriction that western society sees it as is primarily
focused on the dress code placed on women for example required to wear a burqa and preventing them
from going to school. To westernized culture, this restriction is seen as a discouragement to women

The Impeachment Of Drug Traffickers
The Impeachment of Drug Traffickers Each favela used to be control by a drug gang, whose leader

violence that killed many residents trapped in shootings. Interviewees agreed that violence has
decreased even though drug trafficking is still present. Drug traffickers acted as patrons within the

Traffickers also solved issues of rape and thefts, usually by capital punishment. Arias described myth
of personal security in the favelas, as traffickers were assisting only people in their network. An
electrician in Babilônia confirmed it, saying that generally people who are unhappy with UPP are
those who were related to traffickers . Drug traffickers then involved in politics in order to secure their
position. When asked about the interference of traffickers in politics, or with the Residents
Association, interviewees said they did not know or if they agreed to talk about it, said that it
happened in many favelas, but not in Babilônia. Carlos Antônio, former president of the Residents
Association of Babilônia, explained that during political campaigns, traffickers stayed at the entrance
of the favelas and charged politicians that wanted to get it. If they did not accept the deal, they had to
abandon the idea of campaigning in this favela . According to a report released by the Brazilian
Newspaper O Globo, traffickers charged up to R$100,000 (25 000 USD) to let politicians enter non
pacified favelas to leave posters and hand out pamphlets during the 2012 municipal elections.
Traffickers thus had affiliations with politicians and consequently influenced

Cadbury Schweppes is a UK based beverage and confectionary group founded in 1969 with the

flourished through the years. It became an international major player in the late 80s and was admired
by its peers for such an ascent.
In 1990 the group bought two little entities from the same business and merged them into a single

However, although the company was globally admired for its performance and its management, its

Sympathy in The Reprimand Sympathy is an extension of empathic concern, or the perception,
understanding, and reaction to the distress or need of another human being. Sympathy must be given
and received in order for the world to operate because all humans make mistakes that impact other
people s lives. The Reprimand is a short phone play written by Jane Anderson in 2000. The two
characters, Rhona and Mim, have a confrontation about what Rhona believes to be an inappropriate

like Mim is degraded by Rhona. Rhona does not deserve the sympathy of the audience because she
did not handle the situation in a professional manner. She is too forceful and degrading to Mim when
she confronts her about Mim s comment. Rhona says, but you didn t say better, you said bigger
(Anderson 1783). She corrects what Mim meant by her comment to make her sound like she was
trying to be mean, when she actually was trying to do something nice for her because it was Rhona s
project. She was implying that Rhona deserved the big chair because it was her project and she would
most likely be leading the meeting with the other employees. This act of kindness and respect is
turned around to be mean and disrespectful by Rhona. Rhona says, Honey, there was a reason why
Dick and Danny asked you all the follow up questions (Anderson 1784). Rhona is implying to Mim
that she took the attention away from her even though she is the one who is in charge of the project.
Sympathy should not be given to Rhona because she comes across as a selfish woman who just wants
to be the center of attention. Most people do not appreciate this type of personality. One last

X Syndrome, including trouble speaking clearly, stuttering, speech may come later than others their

and does not use clear logic to support the facts they do know.
20 Points for Formatting
Formatting refers to the student s ability to communicate effectively within the paper. This refers to
grammar, proper formatting of the document, and syntax. A student also receives credit for having the
proper page length (2 3 pages). A paper with three or less mistakes will receive 15 19 points. A paper
with multiple minor mistakes will receive anywhere between 10 14 points, while a paper which is
presented too poorly to be considered a college level paper will receive anywhere from 0 13 points.
I cannot overemphasize the importance of formatting in the written assignments. Always make certain
to use spell checker and to reread your paper at least two times before submitting. You will be amazed
at the number of mistakes you will catch this way.
10 Points for Sources
Sources must be formatted properly in APA or MLA style. There is no set amount of sources needed,
but a student must remember that they should be able to back up each statement with a reliable source.

Analysis Of The NovelAll Quiet On The Western Front, By...
People such as Erich Maria Remarque help people like me, someone who has not served acknowledge
the brutal and breathtaking memories that he hasn t lived but wants to learn about. In Erich Maria
Remarque s landmark war novel, All Quiet on the Western Front, illustrates how war is hell on the
soldiers who served in World War 1. The Novel, Paul Baumer, is a foot soldier fighting for the
German Army; he shares a first hand account of the wars atrocities on himself and his comrades in
arms. In the novel, All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque, the author reveals the
innocent yet destructive war experience between the main characters of the story. Paul and his
relationship to the first industrialized world war between Germany and others through the use of a
variety of literary elements including irony to emphasize the impact of war on young gentlemen as
well as employing imagery or writing that appeals to readers senses to illustrate how war changes the
boys into men of lost generation.
Erich Maria Remarque conceptualizes the morbid imagery of war in order to teach the readers how
war is vile and putrid. While in war you can see the guts and gore from some of your friends, but some
of the animals that are used in war. The belly of the horse was ripped open and the guts trail out
(Remarque 63). During battle the warriors endured scary sights. War noises are scary and lingering in
the mind. The screaming of the beast becomes louder (Remarque 63). When in battle you don t know
what you will face next. The forest was burnt down but the soldiers looked at the positive side and
noticed it still smelled good. They still smell of resin and pine (Sobel). The soldiers sometimes used
small things like these to make them more confident. Erich Maria Remarque uses imagery to show the
readers how brutal war is.
Remarque s novel All Quiet on the Western Front reveals the true feelings about the war and its effects
on those warriors. Men while in the front lines when receiving fire get a different feeling and everyone
reacts differently. Men revert to animal instincts when under fire (Remarque 131). This suggests when
facing life or death people will do whatever it takes to live. Warriors during World

Symphony Number 5 Essay
In the closing scene of Act II of Swan Lake, Siegfried lifts Odette high into the air right when the
piano forte string hit is played; Odette is slowly lowered as the famous oboe solo beginning on an F
sharp gracefully drops down to a B. In Beethoven s Symphony Number 5, the entire symphony is
silent while the oboist has an improvised solo in a still concert hall. In the Symphony in C by Bizet,
the oboe solo is embellished with beautiful sixteenth note turns, which still manage to sound graceful.
These solos will forever be remembered in the history of music, whether or not people know the
musician or even the instrument playing said solo or not. The oboe s piercing yet beautiful sound is
caused by the double reed that is used instead of mouthpiece like other woodwind instruments. A
double reed is simply a piece of cane that is folded over, tied to a tube of cork called a staple, trimmed,
and shaved. This sounds like a simple process, but it actually stops many oboists from pursuing music
as they graduate high school and go into college. This is a very taxing and frustrating part of being an
oboist, and without it, it is impossible to succeed. Simply buying a ... Show more content on

For example, if the cane is hard, the oboist needs to scrape the reed more for the reed to be able to
vibrate, slighter higher pitch, and are more likely to last longer. Softer and more medium hardness
reeds require a thicker finisher gouger, the reed maker will have to scrape less, but the reed has a
flatter pitch and will not last as long (Midwest Musical Imports). If the cane s grain is not tight
enough, it will not go through the gouger properly. Just like all woodwind instruments, every single
oboe varies on note pitches. For example, an A on one style Josef oboe may be slightly flat, while an A
on the exact same style Josef oboe will be perfectly in

Mary Barton Summary
In Mary Barton by Elizabeth Gaskell, she captures the hardships that the mill workers experience
during the 1800s by including imagery and contrast. The author writes about the workers conditions
by explaining their lives and differences to the ones who do not suffer, and she also vividly describes
the experiences of the workers to make the readers see the hardships and their distressing lives.
Therefore, one can predict that the author feels sorrow and sadness for the mill workers. One can
vividly see the experiences of the mill workers by the descriptions that Gaskell includes in her story.
In the second paragraph, she begins to describe the deprivations of the workers by stating that

The first is external: the challenge posed by its nuclear weapons program and the threat of
proliferation off the Korean Peninsula. The second is essentially but not wholly internal: the challenge
posed by the pending transfer of power in Pyongyang and potential for instability as the process plays
out. This complex reality underscores the need for balance and strategic patience if the twin dangers of
proliferation and instability on the peninsula are to be successfully managed. In order to produce these
changes in the policy, there must be a determination of the ends/ goals, ways for achieving the goals,
and means as the instruments and activities for implementing ways. The history of the relationship
between the United States and North Korea led up to today s policy of dealing with North Korea
through diplomatic channels. The U.S. helped to divide the Korean peninsula at the end of World War
II, and then waged war against North Korea in the 1950s. Although the U.S. signed a peace agreement
rather than a peace treaty with North Korea after the war, its policy toward the country changed.
Instead of trying to overthrow the North Korea government, the U.S. government adopted a policy of
containing communism. During the 1980 s, associations between North Korea and the U.S. start to
take on a new diplomatic form. North Korea s nuclear weapons program had become a pressing

What Will The People Read My Essay And Application Find...
When I first sat down to start this essay, I asked myself: What will the people reading my essay and
application find most important? Will it be the fact that I ve got strong experience in several areas of
sports media? Will it be the fact that I attend a top 10 public university in the entire country? Will any
of that even matter?
Personally, I believe the most important factor on why someone should receive a job or an internship
or any other opportunity is passion. Anyone can be a great writer, but is that person willing put in the
work daily, write against deadlines and even sometimes receive criticism for their work? Do they
wake up ready to get better each day? Do they wake up with a smile on their face knowing that they
are in their dream job, doing what they love?
If they don t, I certainly do. I believe that my passion is what sets me apart from other candidates. A
former professor of mine once told me a story about a young man who had talent he had never seen.
Everything came so easily to this young man prior to coming into college. This young man was the
star football player at his high school, he talked on camera for the school s morning news show and he
was a good looking guy. The problem? He had no passion for anything he did; rather, he simply
managed to coast through high school doing the bare minimum.
When he got to college, he expected everything to be handed to him. When he was asked to help with
anything, he d say no. He was only interested in being a

My first Thanksgiving Day celebration
There are too many traditions in the world, and each country has specific holidays to celebrate
determinate event. When I came to here in March of 2016 I didn t know about what is to celebrate
Christmas, Independence Day or Thanksgiving. By beginning of November in 2015 I heard about
Thanksgiving Day and what it means. As soon I knew the reason of why we celebrate Thanksgiving I
started to show interest and motivation about this day. I like to be a grateful person, so I was very
excited to see how the Americans celebrate this date and to be part of it. We started to do all the
preparations for the dinner like 15 days before. The people who were going to that dinner were my
friends, my parents, my boyfriend and me; so we made a reunion to give to each one a specific
assignment. Everybody bought all the necessaries supplies like food, cover table, plates, and cups, all
designed with thanksgiving pictures. As the date got closer, I was more excited. One reason for this
was that I live in a place where almost everybody is American, and they have this wonderful spirit of
traditions that make you part of it, even if you are not an American. Well, there were just a few days
remaining for the celebration and we went to the house where the dinner was going to occur, to clean
and leave everything ready for the big day. One day before Thanksgiving I went to the supermarket

Action Potentials In A Giant Alga Lab Report
LAB #4: ACTION POTENTIALS IN A GIANT ALGAL CELL
Generating action potentials in a giant alga using mechanical stimulation, injury, or direct electrical
stimulation
Introduction The Chara coralline is a freshwater plant that lives in temperate zone ponds and lakes.
The intermodal segment is a single large cell which uses cytoplasmic streaming to distribute
organelles and nutrients throughout the cytoplasm which is surrounded by a large central vacuole.
Recording action potentials with intracellular microelectrodes is less complicated because Chara cells
are so large. Actin and myosin allow for the movement of intracellular materials. The Chara coralline
generates action potentials in response to deformation of the cell membrane. Then, cytoplasmic
streaming is halted via a signal that is spread by the action potential. Protein kinase is activated due to
the increase in internal calcium. The protein kinase phosphorylates myosin which in turn inhibits its
interaction with actin and terminates streaming. This allows a wound to heal without leakage of the
pressurized cytoplasmic contents.
The purpose of this lab is to examine the waveform characteristics of action potentials using standard
intracellular recording techniques. In the first set of experiments, students will use a glass
microelectrode to record from a giant algal cell. Then, students will generate an action potential in a
giant algal cell. If ion concentrations remain constant inside the cell, then the

that . . . also claims to offer an explanation that is not obvious. But generally, according to Culler, to
count as a theory, not only must an explanation not be obvious; it should involve a certain complexity.
A theory must be more than a hypothesis: it can t be obvious. Theory involves some complex relations
of systematic kind among a number of factors; and it cannot be easily confirmed or disproved. If one
bears all these factors in mind, it becomes easier to understand what goes by the name of theory .

Jean Piaget s Developments Of Human Cognitive Development
Jean Piaget was the first Swiss psychologist to study the systematic human cognitive development. He
was fascinated about how the way children think and how children gain their knowledge as they grow
up. His studies help him to understand that children s cognitive development changes as they mature
and with the experiences they learn in the environment. Cognitive development is the development of
memory, thinking, and problem solving (Ciccarelli, 2012). With his studies, he proposed that cognitive
development occurs in 4 age related stages: sensorimotor, pre operational, concrete operations, and
formal operations (Leifer, 2015). The pre operational stage is the early childhood development ages
between 2 to 7 years old. Children in this stage are very focused on learning their symbolic thought,
especially concepts and language. They assume the very stereotypical act of a child, believing in
fantastical characters like the Easter bunny and his ilk and believing that the act of locomotion means
that something has life. They can imagine to a basic extent and are capable of using items as symbols
for other items. Piaget claimed that children in this stage experience egocentrism, which refers to
inability to see the world through anyone else s eyes (Ciccarelli, 2012). Children are self centered and
they think that world entirely from their own personal perspective. They also focus mostly on
appearances when concerning logic and they basically understand only the things

The Problem Of Landfill Accident
1. Introduction:
With the rapid growth of population and economic, more and more waste is produced. Landfill is still
the main method of waste disposal. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United
States has 3091 active landfills and over 10000 old municipal landfills. It was estimated that 265
million metric tons of municipal waste was disposed in the United States in 2013 (Powell, Townsend
and Zimmerman, 2015). However landfills pose great threats to our environment and public health.
All landfills will eventually fail and leak leachate into ground and surface water. The fact that landfill
accidents such as fire, explosion and slip occasionally happen makes people show more concern with
landfills nowadays. So it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gas migration along with surface and groundwater contamination are the three dominant types of
landfill failure in the survey area. Besides, slope failure and fire occupy 8% and 3% of the total failure
respectively.
Landfill gas is a complex mix of different gases created by the action of microorganisms within a
landfill. Approximately 46% of landfill gas is composed of methane. Most of the rest component is
carbon dioxide. Also there is trace amount of other volatile organic compounds which comprises less
than 1%. The developed pressure, concentration and temperature gradients cause the landfill gas
emissions to the atmosphere vertically and migrations to surrounding soil laterally. Gas migration is an
indicator of landfill failure because landfill gas becomes a threat to environment when emitted into
atmosphere, since both methane and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases. Also, the trace amount of
other volatile organic compounds can present serious health hazards (Nastev, 2001). Landfill gas will
also pollute land when migrates to surrounding soil.
Surface water contamination Groundwater contamination of landfill because of leachate leakage.
Leachate is aqueous effluent produced as a consequence of rainwater percolation through landfilled
waste, biochemical processes within landfill and the inherent water content of the landfilled waste

The Works Of Haydn And Mozart
Haydn and Mozart are often recognised as the two composers who were responsible for bringing
Viennese Classicism to its greatest height. In the public eye, these two great composers could not be
more different, whether it is in terms of their characters or values. This essay sets out to explore the
similarities and differences in the early lives of these two gifted individuals, Wolfgang Amadeus
Mozart and (Franz) Joseph Haydn, through their backgrounds and music education.
Mozart, who was born in 1756 in Salzburg, was Haydn s junior by twenty four years. By the time he
was born, his father, Leopold Mozart, was already a widely known composer and violinist. All in all,
Mozart grew up in a family of fairly good standing and this enabled him to blend in with the
aristocrats and the nobility comfortably and effortlessly.
On the other hand, Haydn was born in a small town call Rohrau. His father, Mathias Haydn, is a
wheelwright, while his mother, Maria Koller, was a cook for the Lords of the village before marriage.
Although the young Haydn s standard of living may not be comparable to that of Mozart s, Haydn did
not live in extreme poverty. Haydn s father and grandfather were both the magistrate in the village and
the preserved bills showed that Mathias were given plenty of work and was not paid badly. However,
with eleven other siblings in the family, despite the fact that only six of them, including Haydn,
survived infancy, Haydn, by no means, had the attention or resources

Schindler s List Research Paper
Schindler s list Schindler s List is one of the most important movies ever made, and I also believe it is
one of the best. The subject matter alone makes it a movie worth watching, but this passion project
brought to life the legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg transcends being just a work of art.
Schindler s List is a true masterpiece. So many movies are just fluff pictures, but Steven Spielberg
made this movie into a masterpiece of cinema.
There is a beautifully framed set of over the shoulder shots when Amon Goeth is having a
conversation with Oskar Schindler when they first meet. It switched from a mid over the shoulder shot
looking at Amon, who is placed on the left, to a similarly framed shot of Oskar on the right. Showing

In Steven Spielberg s attempt to show the spontaneity of the events, during scenes like the liquidation
of the ghetto, he would grab a hand held camera and walk around the actors. He was trying to give the
viewer a sense of what it would be like to actually be in those situations, and make the camera as
unobtrusive as possible. When Itzhak Stern leaves his apartment to the street Spielberg uses the hand
held camera to represent the chaos of the moment. The germans are screaming at him, the streets are
packed with people, and they are shooting families.
There is a fantastic panning shot of the Jews and the Germans listening to the radio announcing the
end of the war. The camera pans to the left showing the faces of the Jews as they realize the war is
really over. Then they show the germans faces as they realize they lost the war. It shows the
similarities, and the differences very well of the two situations.
A beautiful dolly shot is right at the end of the movie when oskar is fleeing, and the camera is pointed
at Schindler behind the window of the his car. You see his face, but reflected in the glass are the faces
of the Jews he saved, as the camera moves with the car. The car and camera are moving to the right,
and you get the feeling that everything is over, and they are safe

Crime Without Borders
1. Describe the push and pull factors that contribute to slavery. In addition, explain why you believe
that the specific characteristics (i.e. low food production) of these factors contribute to environments
conducive for slavery.
Push and pull factors are very important in the criminal enterprise of slavery and human trafficking. In
our textbook Crime Without Borders: An Introduction To International Criminal Justice by Aaron
Fichtelberg defines push factors as, Push factors are those aspects of a society that make it a likely
target for human traffickers by creating a ready pool of potential victims (Fichtelberg, 2008, pg. 235).
There are five primary push factors for slavery and those are: corruption of the government, high

One way that daughters are victimized by slave trade is their family members put their daughters up
for human trafficking in which most of them will be sold to pimps. According to Aaron Fichtelberg,
Sometimes these women are initially sold by their family, who often don t consider a daughter to be an
asset, in order to provide income to help the rest of the family survive (Fichtelberg, 2008, pg.239).
This can make the daughters feel a sense of hopelessness in the process of being sold. Another way
that women and children are victimized throughout the process of human trafficking for the sex
industry are marriage services. Marriage services allows for women from other countries to be
introduced to western men who are interested in marrying them. Usually these marriage services leads
to the women being deprived of her freedom and put to work in strip clubs or brothels. These women
who seek to go to a different country to marry a western men usually feels betrayed. The women and
children who are trafficked to the sex industry are also considered criminals. They are considered
criminals due to prostitution. It is hard for people to identify who is the victim in a case like this.
When women and children are caught within the sex industry they are usually sent home to their home
country in which they may be shunned. Women and children could be shunned from their community
if their community is against sexual work and being sexual active. It is continued victimization
because the victim will always be accused of being a criminal or a disgrace to the

Sao Paulo
Good Day Mr. Brown, You recently had asked me to find the risk assessment about Sao Paulo and this
is what I have found. I believe you and the rest of my co workers will enjoy it there but there are
certain places in Sao Paulo that are still dangerous especially in the day time while if you and the
Thomson Reuters team travel to the Central areas in Sao Paulo it is very dangerous at night. I needed
to inform you that the crime rates have decreased since 2011 but the level of crime is very high
calculating to 86.30%, also armed robberies are very common. Crime does indeed continues to be the
ultimate threats to visitors. The Central Sao Paolo is safe in the day time but be aware that
pickpocketing often happens at Praca de Se when you are either ... Show more content on

Every year, natural disasters kill people. They have a few dangerous insects found In the Amazon and
health hazards, can mostly come from mosquitoes. The flood watch really occurs when the rain is
pouring extremely heavy causing mudslides, falling trees, swollen rivers, and hills collapsing due to
already saturated soil making houses and buildings unstable to stand still. Sao Paolo have different
alternatives such as using the trains, buses, taxis, or subways to get around. The roads aren t very safe
to drive on Sao Paolo. Taxis are very cheap but to avoid getting anything personal taken from you
have your windows wind up. There are 3 main bus terminals in Sao Paulo which are Terminal
Rodoviario do Tiete, Rodoviario da Barra Funda and Rodoviario de Jabaqara. Buses would be more
accessible, a little safer and prices stay the same because if you take the subway or even the train it
closes at midnight during the week and 1 am on Saturdays. There are three major airports in Sao Paolo
which are Guarulhos International (GRU) and Viracopos (IATA:VCP or CPQ) both airports travel to
domestic and international areas while Congonhas (CGH) only has medium and short haul flights. The
best two places to stay are the Sao Paolo Lodge Business Hostel and Mercure Sao Paolo Jardins Hotel.
It is very close to all 3 airports both driving and taking the train. Mr. Brown do remember when
staying at the hotel to place your personal belongings into the safe and not to not leave it with the
receptionist. My biggest concern while in Sao Paolo to avoid getting sick or getting any dengue fever
is watching the food you eat and the water or liquids you drink. Sao Paolo is a great city but please
take precaution traveling at night by yourself or even having valuables on you in the day

Amory Lovins’ Logic in Natural Capitalism Essay
Amory Lovins Logic in Natural Capitalism
In the first chapter of Natural Capitalism, author Amory Lovins proposes a new method of capitalism
that recognizes the importance of natural and human capital in the industrial system. Conventional
capitalism places value only on capital that yields financial gain, and ignores the human and natural
parts of the equation. Lovins points to this as the reason for many of the environmental, social, and
economic problems on our planet today. He argues that the destructive practices of conventional
capitalism must cease, and that a new industrial revolution must happen that will change how human
beings support themselves and sustain the resources of the planet. In this chapter he ... Show more

Lovins contrast of sustainable methods versus destructive methods convinces the readers to agree with
his claim and follow his proposed changes.
He discusses four key strategies for implementing natural capitalism; radical resource productivity,
biomimicry, service and flow economy, and investing in natural capital. Radical resource productivity
involves finding every way possible to increase the usage that humans get from natural resources. This
lowers the cost of materials and decreases the amount of pollution due to wasteful consumption of
resources. Biomimicry is the term given for modeling the mechanical processes of our industries after
the self sustaining and interdependent processes found in nature. Such a transformation would make
factories more efficient and less polluting. Creating a service and flow economy means that consumers
would pay for the service a product provides instead of buying the product itself. Instead of throwing
away worn out products, consumers can just return them to the manufacturer, who will repair them or
recycle them. Investing in natural capital means that corporations value living systems. In this sort of
system, logging companies would value not only the lumber that they harvest, but the forest habitat
where the trees came from as well. This gives companies motivation to not strip a forest bare because
they now profit from a thriving forest habitat. This Lovins calls these points the basis of

Obstructive Sleep Apnea And Hypertension
There is a strong association between obstructive sleep apnea and hypertension, among cardiac
conditions such as heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias and coronary heart disease. OSA and
hypertension share similar risk factors such as age and obesity, and are commonly co morbid. During
an obstructive sleep apnea episode the patient experiences reduced airflow due to obstruction in the
upper airway, leading to hypoxia and hypercapnia, the patient is typically awakened by these episodes.
Due to hypoxia, OSA causes an increase in sympathetic activity, endothelial dysfunction and increased
oxidative stress. Increase systemic activity leads to an increase in both heart rate and blood pressure.
Endothelial dysfunction is an imbalance of vasorelaxation

Factors That Affect Relationships And Relationships
First, when people have their own perspective of relationship on how they should be maintained
compared to how society or different cultures depict relationships. Because the five factors of personal
attraction affect friendships and relationships because have a major impact on how we all deal with
each other on different levels. When dating and in imamate relationships and friendships there has to
be different attractions that keep us connected or disconnected from one another. First you are
attracted to them by Proximity which means when you feeling close to someone, there is also
familiarity, when you are attracted to someone that you see often then you also have to have a similar
attraction to someone which is called, similarity is somethings that you have with people like others
who are like them. Also there is Physical appearance, when you like someone looks, reciprocity, you
are also more attracted to people that are like them. There are five important factors that initiate and
predict interpersonal attractions: proximity, familiarity, similarity, physical appearance and reciprocity
in liking (Clarke, 1952). When searching for a friendship and romantic relationship these are the five
factors that would necessary when searching for a healthy friendship or relationship. When dealing
with society and different cultures sometimes our opinion about the right friendship and relationships.

What Should Be Done Without Regard
Things without all remedy should be done without regard; what s done is done This quote nicely
captures our cultural unquestioned belief about regret that states that lamenting what has already
occurred is foolish and that it is better to simply move on and forward. The initial thought when
hearing this quote is that it is an admirable philosophy that people should follow, however, that is until
I tell you who said it and in what context. This quote was spoken by Lady Macbeth convincing her
husband to stop feeling sorry about murdering people. Maybe not a role model after all. I believe that
instead of forgetting, it is important for people to remember the regret they felt in these instances, so
they can make better decisions in the future.
An experience deeply embedded in my memory was my very traumatic first time at an amusement
park. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can undo, unfriend, delete, unfollow, erase, but what I cannot fix is what has already happened. And
I think the idea of no control over the outcome scares me, but I have to face the hard reality of it which
is that there is no delete button in real life. That was the basis of my regret. The thought of not having
control over what would happen to me on that rollercoaster ride horrified me. Yet I was angry with
myself for not going on it. After this experience I pushed it out of my mind, completely believing in
what society has drilled into my head, which is that people should forget the past and focus only on
the future. However I have come to learn that ignoring that regret is worse. I think it is important to
acknowledge it s existence. Actually, not being able to feel regret is a characteristic of those with brain
damage. To refuse to feel remorse is almost like self diagnosing yourself as mentally insane. Therefore
in order to live a fully functional and humane life full of emotion, I believe that people need to learn to
live with regret, not without

Gymnastics Springboard
The topic of this experiment is to determine which type of gymnastics springboard will give the
highest elevation. There are two types of springboards used in vaulting the traditional springboard and
the air board. Based on research the hypothesis states that if a gymnast jumps on an air board then the
height off the board will be higher than if jumping on a traditional springboard.
To begin with, the vault has been in the Olympics for men since 1896 and for women since 1952. The
vault requires a gymnast to run down a runway, jump on a springboard, and flip over the vault table.
The springboard is a very important piece in the vault. It is made up of a platform and springs and is
used to help get the gymnast up in the air. This experiment was chosen to determine if one type of
springboard gives and advantage over the other. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Both the traditional and air springboards are widely used and sanctioned by USAG guidelines. The
traditional springboard uses up to six vertical springs while the air board uses up to 40 horizontal
springs. Gymnasts appear to defy gravity when they are doing their flips but it is really physics and
Newton s 3rd Law in action. When a gymnast jumps on a springboard the springs compress and then
decompress pushing the gymnast into the air. This is an example of Newton s 3rd Law of Motion
which states that every action has an equal but opposite reaction (tackk.com/c003hs). Before the
gymnast jumps on the springboard the board and springs have potential energy. When the gymnast
jumps on the springboard it turns into kinetic energy and causes the board to push the gymnast up. The
larger number of springs in the air board have more potential energy which leads to the hypothesis that
it will provide the greatest

Hot Fire Fuel Injector Cleaner
Hot Fire Fuel Injector Cleaner Trade Campaign
There is a famous saying that I have always heard since working in both the marketing and business
fields that I am involved with as an employee. The promotion that will be used for Hot Fire Fuel
Injector Cleaner holds true to that quote originally cited by Plautus (n.d.), You ve got to spend money
to make money. The main focus should be on the fact that the fuel injector cleaner works. By
promoting to both retailers and consumer this fact attached to a racecar endorsements, Terry Welsh can
gain the trust necessary to sell the product. Adding a consumer guarantee, Hot Fire Fuel Injector
Cleaner also provides a promise of quality to both the retailer and consumer. The company is ready to
expand nationally, therefore they need to invest in a trade promotion that will draw a retailer to
consider the product. The main objective here is getting Terry Welsh s product, Hot Fire Fuel Injector
Cleaner, onto the shelves of major and local retailers, along with being used by body shops. Terry
must strategically create a plan that will be affordable to himself, along with being persuasive enough
for some retailers to self his product.
Slotting Fee Promotion
At this time, it would be best for Hot Fire Fuel Injector Cleaner to offer a slotting fee, combined with
testimonials from the retailers and customers who are already using the product and samples.
Although controversial (BOOK), it is not an easy task for an unrecognized company to

  • 2. Observation Of The Bon Ton House The last house I observed was in the Bon Ton Historic District as well and is located at 610 South Wilson Avenue. This house was built back in 1904 which was later than the other houses I had previously observed. Due to the difference in time periods this house has a Colonial Revival style which shows the colonial heritage but it also has a Craftsman style. The colonial style can be seen in the columns, corner boards, and the front porch. This house also has a bay window which the previous houses also included. The Craftsman style can be reflected in the overhanging eaves, and rafter tails of the house. The roof of the house is asphalt and the foundation type of this house is different from the previous house being stone instead of concrete. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Child Workers During The Industrial Revolution There were child workers part of the Industrial Revolution and there were some kids that worked in mines, and after this time the Africans became part of the Berlin Conference. After the Berlin Conference Africa s lad became useless, and the Africans were left with nothing. During both these time the child workers were more negatively impacted. The children started working when they were four or five years old, and they were working full time jobs. They would wake up at five o clock in the morning to start walking to work, and they would walk all the way to work and back by themselves. In the coal and iron mines which are worked in pretty much the same way. Children four to five, and seven years are employed. The quote clearly states that ... Our regular time was from five in the morning to nine or ten at night; and on a Saturday, till eleven, and often twelve o clock at night, and then we were sent to clean the machinery on the Sunday. John Birley was interviewed by The Ashton Chronicle on 19th May, 1849. Most children didn t get to go to school, they didn t even get to learn to read or write at home. Some women lost the chances of having a child, because of the positions they sat in all day and most of the night. The women seem to suffer especially from this work, and are seldom , if ever, as straight as other women. There is a testimony here, too, to the fact that deformities of the pelvis and consequent difficult, even fatal, child bearing arise from the work of the women in the mines. As they took the pain of not being able to have a child of their own, so did the African women and men, just in a different way. They got their children taken away and some were killed or raped. They got attacked and everyone was suffaring. They are armed in by the government and sent into various African villages where they proceed to kill civilians of target vital infrastructure, and commit wide scale rape. Genocide in ... (Herodotus) Just as Herodotus recorded, mummification dates back to early 3rd millennium B.C. It may date back many years, but was not perfected till many years later to what we officially call mummification. (Dunand 27) We call it mummification and the bodies mummies because of the Persian word for bitumen, which is mummia . The reason for this name is because of the dark skin of mummies, which people mistook for bitumen. Bitumen is a mineral formed for a tar like substance. Soon the process of being mummified became well known to the royals. The royals, when they were buried, had themselves put into elaborate tombs. Not only were the royals buried in elaborate tombs, but at times members of nobility and officials had elaborate tombs. • 5. `` True Freedom `` By Langston Hughes America is known as the land of the free, but is anyone really free? One might view freedom as abolished slavery, but true freedom gives one the ability to make choices and act on decisions. True freedom might be gained through lessons learned from history, from accomplishing and seeing dreams become reality, or from standing up for beliefs. Langston Hughes, an American poet known for his writing during the Harlem Renaissance period said, In all my life, I have never been free. People of all nations and beliefs have the right to experience freedom from injustice and to live in peace and equality no matter what they look like or believe. In the line, I ve seen its muddy bosom turn all golden in the sunset, (cite) Hughes use of the words muddy bosom symbolizes brown skin. Although some may not see the beauty in the muddiness, rivers can turn golden or beautiful in the sunset. If people would take the time to get to know others and not judge them by their outward appearance, they could see the beauty within the soul. Like rivers, people have a past that helped shape them. Each person, like a river has deep roots, perseverance, and a need for freedom and understanding. Rivers are confined by land as people are confined by laws, but just as rivers can change course, people can change society. Langston Hughes, like the rivers in The Negro Speaks of Rivers, preserved in the face of adversity as he forged new streams of thought. In Harlem, another example of the struggle for true freedom is represented as Langston Hughes questions, What happens to a dream deferred? Not only does the child get something out of it, but the parent learns how to encourage their child while they control their competitive urge, and they tend to set goals for the child that way they can strive to succeed in whatever thy are doing. Not only does it have the potential to build a strong relationship with a parent or guardian but it also can help you feel better about yourself. It gives you a drive to become healthy, boost you confidence, helps your self esteem, and also motivates you and develops a sense of discipline. Also a big factor it helps reduce depression and the feeling of sadness. Although people find many positives about playing organized sports, many people found negatives in the sports. One is the fact of it being too competitive. Once a child gets the idea of winning in their heads, or the idea that they might be better than an opposing player people get worried that it will go too much to their heads. Sympathy must be given and received in order for the world to operate because all humans make mistakes that impact other people s lives. The Reprimand is a short phone play written by Jane Anderson in 2000. The two characters, Rhona and Mim, have a confrontation about what Rhona believes to be an inappropriate remark during a meeting. In The Reprimand, Mim deserves the most sympathy from the audience because Rhona intentionally manipulates her into believing she is not respected by her male co workers. In any situation, the audience will give sympathy to the character who is degraded by the other characters just like Mim is degraded by Rhona. Rhona does not deserve the sympathy of the audience because she did not handle the situation in a professional manner. She is too forceful and degrading to Mim when she confronts her about Mim s comment. Rhona says, but you didn t say better, you said bigger (Anderson 1783). She corrects what Mim meant by her comment to make her sound like she was trying to be mean, when she actually was trying to do something nice for her because it was Rhona s project. She was implying that Rhona deserved the big chair because it was her project and she would most likely be leading the meeting with the other employees. This act of kindness and respect is turned around to be mean and disrespectful by Rhona. Rhona says, Honey, there was a reason why Dick and Danny asked you all the follow up questions (Anderson 1784). Rhona is implying to Mim that she took the attention away from her even though she is the one who is in charge of the project. Sympathy should not be given to Rhona because she comes across as a selfish woman who just wants to be the center of attention. Most people do not appreciate this type of personality. In Beethoven s Symphony Number 5, the entire symphony is silent while the oboist has an improvised solo in a still concert hall. These solos will forever be remembered in the history of music, whether or not people know the musician or even the instrument playing said solo or not. A double reed is simply a piece of cane that is folded over, tied to a tube of cork called a staple, trimmed, and shaved. Action Potentials In A Giant Alga Lab Report LAB #4: ACTION POTENTIALS IN A GIANT ALGAL CELL Generating action potentials in a giant alga using mechanical stimulation, injury, or direct electrical stimulation Introduction The Chara coralline is a freshwater plant that lives in temperate zone ponds and lakes. The intermodal segment is a single large cell which uses cytoplasmic streaming to distribute organelles and nutrients throughout the cytoplasm which is surrounded by a large central vacuole. Recording action potentials with intracellular microelectrodes is less complicated because Chara cells are so large. Actin and myosin allow for the movement of intracellular materials. The Chara coralline generates action potentials in response to deformation of the cell membrane. Then, cytoplasmic streaming is halted via a signal that is spread by the action potential. Protein kinase is activated due to the increase in internal calcium. The protein kinase phosphorylates myosin which in turn inhibits its interaction with actin and terminates streaming. This allows a wound to heal without leakage of the pressurized cytoplasmic contents. The purpose of this lab is to examine the waveform characteristics of action potentials using standard intracellular recording techniques. In the first set of experiments, students will use a glass microelectrode to record from a giant algal cell. Then, students will generate an action potential in a giant algal cell. • 35. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Case Study After several weeks of investigating, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission assigned blame to the combination of incompetent employees and a defective and convoluted user interface. The most glaring of these user interface issues was found on the control panel itself. A light on the panel meant to indicate the position of the steam vent s valve was shown to be confirming that the vent was closed, while in truth the vent was open. Many workers were also discovered to have been improperly trained on appropriate procedure and the functions of some indicators, which led to the misreading of many of the plant s implements. State officials advised the remaining citizens to refrain from venturing outside of the home, and recommended farmers in the area to herd their livestock into shelter. The governor of Pennsylvania, Dick Thornburgh, even went far as to take the precautionary measure of issuing the evacuation of all pregnant women from the area. The grand result of this ban ended in people coming together to protest at several airports across the country where people with valid documentation were detained. This ban had a great impact that a multitude of citizens, lawyers, demonstrators, and the media descended to witness the order s impact, but Trump tried to dismiss the reality of the impact by tweeting, Only 109 people out of 325,000 were detained and held for questioning. • 38. Jean Piaget s Developments Of Human Cognitive Development Jean Piaget was the first Swiss psychologist to study the systematic human cognitive development. He was fascinated about how the way children think and how children gain their knowledge as they grow up. His studies help him to understand that children s cognitive development changes as they mature and with the experiences they learn in the environment. Cognitive development is the development of memory, thinking, and problem solving (Ciccarelli, 2012). With his studies, he proposed that cognitive development occurs in 4 age related stages: sensorimotor, pre operational, concrete operations, and formal operations (Leifer, 2015). The pre operational stage is the early childhood development ages between 2 to 7 years old. Children in this stage are very focused on learning their symbolic thought, especially concepts and language. They assume the very stereotypical act of a child, believing in fantastical characters like the Easter bunny and his ilk and believing that the act of locomotion means that something has life. They can imagine to a basic extent and are capable of using items as symbols for other items. Piaget claimed that children in this stage experience egocentrism, which refers to inability to see the world through anyone else s eyes (Ciccarelli, 2012). Children are self centered and they think that world entirely from their own personal perspective. They also focus mostly on appearances when concerning logic and they basically understand only the things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the United States has 3091 active landfills and over 10000 old municipal landfills. It was estimated that 265 million metric tons of municipal waste was disposed in the United States in 2013 (Powell, Townsend and Zimmerman, 2015). However landfills pose great threats to our environment and public health. All landfills will eventually fail and leak leachate into ground and surface water. Gas migration along with surface and groundwater contamination are the three dominant types of landfill failure in the survey area. Besides, slope failure and fire occupy 8% and 3% of the total failure respectively. Landfill gas is a complex mix of different gases created by the action of microorganisms within a landfill. Approximately 46% of landfill gas is composed of methane. Most of the rest component is carbon dioxide. Also there is trace amount of other volatile organic compounds which comprises less than 1%. The developed pressure, concentration and temperature gradients cause the landfill gas emissions to the atmosphere vertically and migrations to surrounding soil laterally. Gas migration is an indicator of landfill failure because landfill gas becomes a threat to environment when emitted into atmosphere, since both methane and carbon dioxide are greenhouse gases. Also, the trace amount of other volatile organic compounds can present serious health hazards (Nastev, 2001). Landfill gas will also pollute land when migrates to surrounding soil. • 41. The Works Of Haydn And Mozart Haydn and Mozart are often recognised as the two composers who were responsible for bringing Viennese Classicism to its greatest height. In the public eye, these two great composers could not be more different, whether it is in terms of their characters or values. This essay sets out to explore the similarities and differences in the early lives of these two gifted individuals, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and (Franz) Joseph Haydn, through their backgrounds and music education. Mozart, who was born in 1756 in Salzburg, was Haydn s junior by twenty four years. By the time he was born, his father, Leopold Mozart, was already a widely known composer and violinist. All in all, Mozart grew up in a family of fairly good standing and this enabled him to blend in with the aristocrats and the nobility comfortably and effortlessly. On the other hand, Haydn was born in a small town call Rohrau. His father, Mathias Haydn, is a wheelwright, while his mother, Maria Koller, was a cook for the Lords of the village before marriage. Although the young Haydn s standard of living may not be comparable to that of Mozart s, Haydn did not live in extreme poverty. Haydn s father and grandfather were both the magistrate in the village and the preserved bills showed that Mathias were given plenty of work and was not paid badly. However, with eleven other siblings in the family, despite the fact that only six of them, including Haydn, survived infancy, Haydn, by no means, had the attention or resources ... When Itzhak Stern leaves his apartment to the street Spielberg uses the hand held camera to represent the chaos of the moment. The germans are screaming at him, the streets are packed with people, and they are shooting families. Conventional capitalism places value only on capital that yields financial gain, and ignores the human and natural parts of the equation. Lovins points to this as the reason for many of the environmental, social, and economic problems on our planet today. He argues that the destructive practices of conventional capitalism must cease, and that a new industrial revolution must happen that will change how human beings support themselves and sustain the resources of the planet. In this chapter he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Lovins contrast of sustainable methods versus destructive methods convinces the readers to agree with his claim and follow his proposed changes. He discusses four key strategies for implementing natural capitalism; radical resource productivity, biomimicry, service and flow economy, and investing in natural capital. Radical resource productivity involves finding every way possible to increase the usage that humans get from natural resources. This lowers the cost of materials and decreases the amount of pollution due to wasteful consumption of resources. Biomimicry is the term given for modeling the mechanical processes of our industries after the self sustaining and interdependent processes found in nature. Such a transformation would make factories more efficient and less polluting. Creating a service and flow economy means that consumers would pay for the service a product provides instead of buying the product itself. Instead of throwing away worn out products, consumers can just return them to the manufacturer, who will repair them or recycle them. Investing in natural capital means that corporations value living systems. In this sort of system, logging companies would value not only the lumber that they harvest, but the forest habitat where the trees came from as well. This gives companies motivation to not strip a forest bare because they now profit from a thriving forest habitat. This Lovins calls these points the basis of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
