different perspectives while providing evidence to support arguments is crucial for presenting a
comprehensive view. Additionally, addressing the ethical concerns related to the portrayal of

Although there is a cost of 20 million on programming, having average rating 1,2%
with a relatively high CPM makes Ad Revenue higher and as a result Net Income
becomes $168 million. Net income in Scenario 2 is $151 million lower than
Scenario 3, whereas Scenario 1 has the lowest $77 million.
2) Analyze the segmentation options and discuss pros and cons of each.
Scenario1:
Targeting on women aged 18 to 34, with a cross segment strategy by focusing on on
Fashionistas, Planners amp; Shoppers and Situationalists.
Advantages:
Increase in rating from 1.0 to 1.2 with the increase in awareness and viewing of the
channel by investing in a major marketing and advertisement campaign. We can
expect promising returns in the long run with the rise of popularity of the network.
Disadvantages:
While the level competition is getting higher, we cannot wait for the long run, what
we need is instant return for short run. The strategy does not put an end to
competition to gain Premium segments so there is a risk of facing lower CPM. Since
there is no real change in viewers type and programming, the CPM will drop by 10%

The Gettysburg Address
The Impact of the Gettysburg Address on the United States
The speech we now know as the Gettysburg Address was given to consecrate the
fallen soldiers in the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. It is known as one of the
most influential speeches ever and has been recognized in hindsight as pivotal in the
outcome of the war. Its brevity and poetry emphasized America s original dream, the
importance of equality, and the opportunity for a new birth of freedom, a message
which continues to be of relevance today.
The Gettysburg Address was powerful because each word was thought out and was
meaningful to Lincoln. It was on November 19, 1863, when Lincoln delivered the
speech after the battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was the most
demoralizing battle of the Civil war between the Union and the Confederacy, with
over 50,000 casualties in just three days. Lincoln spoke at the ceremonies honoring
the brave Union soldiers after Edward Everett, a famous orator who spoke for two
hours. In contrast Lincoln captivated his crowd for just over two minutes with a
mere 272 words. He was concise and to the point while also poetic. Everett is
known to have sent Lincoln a letter after the ceremony that said; I should be glad, if
I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two
hours, as you did in two minutes. Lincoln repeated words that he wanted to
emphasize; we, dedicated, and nation. He stressed these words to make his message
clearer.

a total hip replacement, who was referred to a home PT upon d/c instructing the
patient to start home PT begin ambulation using the toe touch weight bearing which
was incorrectly mentioned in the d/c summary as weight bearing as tolerated . For
the initial 6 weeks, a patient with uncemented prosthesis should begin with toe touch
weight bearing and not weight bearing as tolerated unlike the cemented prosthesis1.
Toe touch weight bearing is instructed to the patient to protect the joint also give
bone the time to grow into the porous coating of the implant2. During the patient s
visit, the PT developed a plan of care from his evaluation examination and handed
over the case to the PTA to carry out the therapyinterventions. PTA (Physical Therapy
Assistant) is defined as an educated individual who works under the direction
supervision of a physical therapist3. From the mentioned case, it is clear that the PT
has not read the d/c summary and also that he has not mentioned the type of
prosthesis used whether a cemented or an uncemented which highlights the PT s
failure of proper documentation. PTA has elected to follow a plan of care that she
felt was consistent with that of a cemented prosthesis, highlighting the PTA s
mistake because the PTA is not allowed to make any modifications and follow the
plan of care as directed by the supervising PT. PTA is not being periodically
Examples Of Empathy In The House Of The Scorpion
Stirring Empathy In The House of the Scorpion
At least every person has felt different or set apart from others before sometime in
their life. Yet we all know everyone is different and no two people are the same,
and the society constructed by Nancy Farmer in The House of the Scorpion is no
different except for the anti hero Matt. After facing reality that he was cloned from
a cow, Matt finds it incredibly difficult to live a normal life. He is consistently
mistreated by everyone, especially Rosa, who is supposed to care for him but treats
him like an actual animal. In The House of the Scorpion Nancy Farmer uses italics,
em dashes, and description to stir the reader s empathy.
To start, italics are used towards the beginning of the book in order to stir the
reader s empathy for Matt. In this point in the book, Rosa, Matt s new caretaker
treats him like an animal. She literally takes away his bed, builds a pen and fills it
with wood chips, then sticks Matt in it. He develops rashes and infections due to
the living conditions, but no matter how much he begs to live normally he always
gets a similar response. One day Rosa gets especially raged one day. I could kill
you, she said quietly. I could bury your body under the floor and I might do it.
(Farmer 39) Nancy Farmer s use of italics shows the readers why Rosa may be an
antagonist in the story. This may be alleged because of her harsh manner when she
speaks and her cruel actions throughout the story. This is
Analysis Of The Movie Miracle
Miracle review
During the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980. USA, a team that consisted of college
kids defeated the heavily favorite Soviet Union in hockey. Eventually, team USA
won the gold medal against Finland. USA s first gold medal since 1960 in hockey.
The 1980 USA hockey gold medal victory is arguably the greatest moment in U.S.
sports history. The 2003 film Miracleis about the events that led USA to victory.
Also, the film exemplifies that an underdog can truly win. In my opinion, the film
Miracle is the best well made and most influential sports movie. I give it 10 out 10
stars, based on the realistic action scenes, inspirational quotes and underdog story.
The first piece of criteria I used was Inspirational quotes. Quotes that have a deeper
meaning in them. In the movie, legendary head coach Herb brooks of team USA said,
Great moments are born from great opportunities . I find this quote inspirational
because it s a huge opportunity to represent your country and do something that
hasn t been in 20 years, which was winning the gold medal. Russia was going
through the Cold war. In addition, another memorable quote is, Mike Eurzione

America! . That s all gentlemen . This quote happened right after when the U.SA tied
the subpar Norwegian team 3 3. During the game, some of the players were

Racism In Schools Essay
Racism In Our American Schools
In many schools they re are cutting down on racism and bullying but it hasn t
completely gone away. There is still racism in many public schools today, despite
the exceptions, there is still a very high number of african americans getting

and a high number of unfair treatment in classrooms which leaves teachers in a
weird position. American Schools In general Treat African Americans Unfairly.

Rx for racism said America s schools have become monocultural environments.
They dispense a curriculum centered on western civilizations. This shows that
schools don t really lean towards diversity, instead they lean towards learning more
about white expansion and white history. Also Topics that are set based on
Colonialism. Rx for racism also says Historically, every academic discipline
psychology, biology geography, religion, philosophy, anthropology, literature and
history has been used to justify colonialism and racism. This quote says that
American schools administration uses subjects such as history and literature to
justify that racism is a part of history when in fact it s so much more. Lastly Schools
are mainly monolingual. Rx for Racism states The fact that schools are geared
primarily to serve monolingual, white middle class and anglo citizens is never
questioned . School systems serve only one language speaking, white kids with a
good amount of income or americans who are english or canadian, this excludes
african americans, mexican americans, and every other mixed race. This causes the
schools to treat the other races unfairly according to their beliefs, and amount of
income. American schools have no right to justify racism
Superheroes In Beowulf
Who is your favorite superhero? What type of qualities does that superhero have?
Almost every hero has fans, because they raises above whatever they are faced with.
When you think of a superhero you think they can do things normal people can t,
because their immortal. Every person or town needs a hero, these heros don t
necessarily have to save lives but they could solve problems or even make you
smile. Hero s come in all shapes and sizes, they don t just have to be super strong or
immortal. Little kids pick hero s that aren t always immortal, like a brother/sister, or

For the Danish people he rid them of Grendel first, them his mother, and lastly the
dragon. Beowulf may have died with the dragon that day, but his memory as a
heroic person still lives on through the lighthouse and his people. True heroes are
remember, not forced to be remember. People want to be reminded of him because
he did well for others not just himself. The Danes and Geats with never forget what
Beowulf did for them and others as long as his memories stay in the people. In this
specific quote by Isaac Disraeli he says that Beowulf is known far out for his
heroic traits in the poem, The second Beowulf, the hero of the poem, is first
mentioned in the section detailing his journey to the hall of Hrothgar. From this
point on, the Beowulf referred to is the epic s hero. (Disraeli, 1988) When being a
hero people have to be able to trust you with their safety and lives. Not one hero isn
t trust by someone if their true hero, heroes can t not be trusted to be good heroes.
This quotes by Robert Henning shows just how Hrothgar trust Beowulf with his
whole kingdom or castle, In just seven lines the king entrusts Beowulf with the royal
hall, charges him to hold it well by keeping watch against the savage enemy, and
assures the hero that the rewards of victory will be generous. (Henning,
Medger Evers Essay
Medger Evers
Prejudice is an unfavorable opinion or feeling, formed beforehand (e.g., before even
meeting a person) based on non personal characteristics (e.g., skin color, religious,
gender). One form of prejudice is racism. Racism is negative attitudes and values
held by people about other people based on their race. It is this attitude which causes
one to discriminate against another. Discrimination is treating people unfavorably on
the basis of race, color or sex. Prejudice and discrimination were prevalent in the
1950s and 1960s. This era was a time of hatred, a time of violence, a time when black
people were colonized by the white colonizer, and it was a time of white on black
racial violence. Because of this hatred, the whites ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, many Americans today have never heard the name of Medgar Evers,
a man who willingly, and literally, put his life on the line of hate that divided the
races in the South. Ironically, many young Americans, including African Americans,
who grew up after these turbulent years have forgotten leaders, such as Medgar
Evers, who brought about the powerful tides of change.
Medgar Evers was born in 1925 in Decatur, Mississippi. After serving in the U.S.
Army, he began to establish local chapters of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (better known as the NAACP), whose primary
focus is the protection and enhancement of the civil rights of African Americans
and other minorities, while attending Alcorn A amp;M College. (NPR). In 1952,
after graduating college, he sold insurance in rural Mississippi. It was during this
time that he grew enraged at the oppression of the black people in his state and
became more active in the NAACP where he became the first field secretary in
Mississippi, where he struggled to bring equality to his home state of Mississippi. A
state in which he loved with hope and rarely with despair, and it was his hope that
sustained him, a state with such blatant discrimination that blacks dared not even
speak of civil rights, much less actively campaign for them. Evers recalls a time in
1954, when he
1776 David Mccullough Summary
In the non fiction book, 1776, the author, David McCullough, gives you a look
back into the start of the American Revolution, providing a great amount of detail
of the time period. The book takes the reader through a journey of the year 1776,
where the American Revolution really started. The book begins in October of 1776,
where King George III speaks to the British Parliament about the ongoing war against
the American colonies. David starts to layout a map of the characters involved in the
beginning of the war, such as King George III, George Washington, William Howe,
Henry Knox and Nathaniel Greene, and he describes their personality, and other traits
of those characters. McCullough shows both sides of the revolution, and avoids

The victory of this battle was absolutely astounding. The Americans had managed
gain a vital area of the war that gave them a huge advantage. Both the Colonists and
the British knew that Dorchester Heights would give whoever captured it larger
protection. Yet, both sides hesitated to act upon this knowledge. Finally, the
Americans decided to capture it, after developing a brilliant plan. Everything had
been well planned out, yet still kept secret to avoid the enemy learning their plan.
The British were absolutely clueless what was going to happen, which was a key
factor in the American success. On the night of March 4th, Americans began their
plan to move in and capture Dorchester Heights. Troops would begin to bombard
Boston, in order to occupy the British. Meanwhile, 2,000 men would begin their
plan at Dorchester. They began to stack large bales of hay, which kept the British
from being able to see their move on Dorchester at night. Then they would begin to
set up their weaponry. One thing I find absolutely astonishing is how they managed
to remain perfectly silent during this move. The British hadn t even noticed
anything until roughly 10:00 the next morning, and while the Americans were ready
to hold off small arms, the British General Francis Smith decided to ignore it. I
would have to say that his decision was a fatal mistake. When General Howe finally
realized what the Americans had done that night, he exclaimed, My God, these
fellows have done more work in one night than I could make my army do in three
months. I m not sure why, but that quote was very amusing to me. The Americans
had successfully completed their plan, and Dorchester Heights was under their
control. Another huge gain by their accomplishment was the effect it had on the
American army. It brought the hopes up of many soldiers, which, as I learned, was a
key factor in the success of many battles. One thing I

There are concerns among environmentalists as the coral reefs around the world are
dying. The reefs, which are one of the most diverse ones in the world, suffer from
other factors such as overfishing and climate change. Scientists found that the waters
contain pulses of larval fish that restock the coastal fishes in the sea. They believe
that since the South China Sea accounts for 1/10 of fish stocks for the world; the
artificial islands should not be built as more than 1/4 of the world rely on it for food.

Building Multilateral Framework Is the main solution to ease the conflict between
China and the ASEAN countries. The 2002 Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in
the South China Sea allows the parties to agree upon multilateral risk reductions and

commitment leads to the adoption of a code of conduct for the South China Sea. The

Rawls Theory of Justice
The conventional accounts of Justice normally begin by stating a fundamental rule of
Aristotle Justice is to treat equals equally and unequals unequally, and that unequal
treatment should be in proportion to the inequality. In everyday life though, justice
is seen as an attribute of law, while all laws are not necessarily just. Many great
socio political movements of the world have focused from time to time on unjust
laws eg Apartheid laws in South Africa and
Caste laws in India. Impartiality and fairness are understood to be the two aspects of
justice. But it would be misleading to suggest that Justice refers solely to the fair
application of a rule. Some rules, though fairly applied, may produce results
repugnant to our ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rawls assumes that these hypothetical people would be conservative risk takers and
in a situation of uncertainty would opt for the least disadvantageous outcome in any
choice presented to them and they would choose those principles that would
maximize the position of the worst off, for just in case they should be the worst off.
The two principles of justice that such people choose are:
1. Each person is to have an equal right to the most extensive liberty compatible with
a similar liberty to others. 2. Social and economic inequalities are to be arranged so
that they are both
a) to the greatest benefit of the least advantages
b) attached to offices and positions open to all under conditions of fair equality and
opportunity.
These principles are arranged by Rawls in a specific order and are subject to the
priority rule, ie the first principle has to always precede the second and 2a should
always come before 2b. Rawls commitment to equality, his passionate defense of
liberty and his acceptance of inequality only when it brings advantages to the least
advantaged are the basic principles of his theory. Thus Rawls advocates a
constitutional democracy as the arrangement for upholding these principles. Although
this theory seems like a foolproof and universal arrangement in favour of justice and
Deceitful Clytemnestra of Euripides Electra Essay
Deceitful Clytemnestra of Euripides Electra
Agamemnon returns from Troy, a victorious general, bringing home spoils, riches and
fame. He is murdered on the same day as he returns. Clytemnestra, his adulterous
wife, has laid in wait for her husband s homecoming and kills him whilst he is being
bathed after his long journey. During the Agamemnon, large proportions of the Queen
s words are justifications for her action, which is very much concerned with the
sacrifice of Iphigenia to the gods, in order for the fleet to set sail for Troy. Aegisthus,
the new husband of the Queen Clytemnestra, and partner in the conspiracy to murder
the war hero, had reasons, which stemmed from the dispute between the Houses of

Chorus have absolved him of blame in their minds. All their words about the
leader are nothing but in praise of their king. They are nearly faint with longing for
the return of their king, though we can also partly attribute this to a desire to be
rid of Clytemnestra more than their wish to return to the rule of Agamemnon. They
indeed emphasise the tyranny of the Queen ( she commands, full of her high
hopes...manoeuvres like a man 13). The sentry echoes the love for the King
though ( My king, I ll take your loving hand in mine 37), and the herald is similarly
well disposed toward him, and he hasn t been under the yoke of Clytemnestra ( he

Review Of A Man Of No Importance
A Man of No Importance is a musical that takes place in Dublin in the 1960 s. It
follows the story of a young man, Alfie. Alfie is the director of a theater group, and
also a bus conductor. Throughout the musical, he is directing his latest musical, while
doing so, he not only uncovers new things about his actors and acrtresses, but himself
as well. He is constantly struggling with his inner demons, which Oscar Wilde, the
writer of the play Alfie is producing, helps Alfie sort through. Wilde is displayed as
a figure of Alfie s mind, helps him uncover. The first character I will be analyzing
is Alfie. In many aspects, Alfie doesn t live true to his authentic self. Throughout
the musical he is clearly struggling with the fact that he does not like women. His
sister often encourages girls, and questions why he doesn t seem interested. He

circumstances, he feels that he must conceal his true identity, this leaves him
essentially living a lie. The society in this early time period played a large role in
Alfie concealing the gender that he likes. Most weren t accepting of gay people at
this time, this is demonstrated when Alfie later gets beaten up for openly showing
his affection or another male. His religion also plays a role in
Taxi Driver Social Disorganization
The film Taxi Driver, directed by Martin Scorsese, takes place in New York City
during the 1970 s. The main character Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, is a
United States Marine returning home after serving his country. Taxi Driver appears to
demonstrate the theory of Social Disorganization. The audience can see this
throughout the film in scenes where Bickle is driving through the city. As the film
continues Bickle appears to struggle with adjusting to such a large city and coping
with his sanity. This film takes a look at how Social Disorganization along with a
mental illness can contribute to someone s actions and behavior.
Travis Bickle is an extremely complex individual. It appears Bickle s mental state
is deteriorating after serving four years in the United States Marine Corps and
seeing combat action in Vietnam. Bickle seems to be an insomniac unable to sleep
at night, part of the reason why he wants to drive a taxi cab at night. Struggling to
sleep, Bickle also consumes alcohol at various times of the day. The audience gets a

Martin Scorsese beautifully demonstrates what a socially disorganized city might
reflect. Whenever Bickle is driving his taxi cab at night the audience can see
prostitution, pimping, assault, robbery, and drug dealing. In the movie one can see
that there are really no institutions exhorting their control over society. With a lack
of control from institutions such as religion, politics, and school it allows crime to
take over and become a societal norm. Bickle sees that crime is rampant within the
city and refers to these individuals as scum. It is very apparent that social
disorganization has especially taken hold of the inner city, or Zone of Transition,
which is where most minorities reside and where most crime occurs. Bickle

The Expansion Of The Renaissance Center
The Renaissance Centre, located in Detroit, Michigan, in the United States of
America, is known as the tallest buildings in Michigan, and the Detroit Marriot at the
Renaissance Centre is the third tallest hotel skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere;
however, in 1977, it was known as the tallest skyscraper over the world. When the
economy of Detroitwent down, a group of businessmen, headed by Max Fisher as
chairman and Henry Ford II as the chairman of the Ford Motor Company and the
grandson of its founder decided to make changes in order to gain the city of Detroit
and resolve the problems that were facing it. They formed the Detroit Renaissance
inc. with other businessmen in order to effect a physical and economic motivation for
the city. They thought any large scale mega structure at the riverfront would help
achieving what they are aiming for, for a better economical and motivated city. Ford
assigned Wayne Doran, who was a president of the Ford Motor Land Development
Corporation to find a perfect site facing riverfront, which he found on Jefferson
Avenue in Detroit s downtown. Ford had assigned the architect John Portman to start
working on the riverfront project. The choice of the architect Portman was elected for
his role in conceiving, financing and promoting the large scale urban complex in
Atlanta. Portman is known for using a connection between human and the

The Role Of Administrator And The Administration Of
The...
Introduction Healthcare is a profession that is demanding, but being an administrator
is a field that can reshape the future state of healthcare. As a healthcare administrator
there are so many different aspects of healthcare that an individual can be involved
in. Administration is the business of healthcare all while trying to run an organization
and the providers within. The best way to understand the role of an administrator is
through an interview. The interview that was conducted was with a registered nurse
that was promoted to the director of the Emergency Department at Virginia Beach
General Hospital. This paper will explore the roles of an Administrator and what it
takes to run a department or even a facility.
Background of Administrator Kim Schmidt has worked in healthcare for over 15
years, she worked her way through the rankings becoming a registered nurse and
receiving her Baccalaureates degree. Working hard she was promoted to the director
and helped to make it a better facility for not only the employees but the patients.
Having known Kim for several years working under her management, it has been a
great experience. Working in a level two trauma center was not an easy task but Kim
rose to the occasion and made great changes to the facility. This interview was held in
the heart of the Emergency Department in Virginia Beach General Hospital to gain a
different perspective what the leadership task entails as an administrator. Virginia

A baby s cries filtered through the living room as Peter Senge thanked Governor

I ll go. Enjoy your popcorn, William said. What, really? You don t want to watch
the debate. I m shocked. It s alright. The DVR is recording it; I ll catch the

If you say so. Besides, I m going to be spending the entire day on the stump with
him tomorrow. You sit back and enjoy the debate. I ll take care of James. THE

William said. There s my ride. Be safe, Mary said, adjusting James in her arms.
Always, William said. He took James from Mary and gave him a kiss on the

Good morning, Mr. Blake, the pilot s voice carried over the headset. Good morning,

Governor Birch kicked some serious ass. He sure did, William said. He s
Nature In Frankenstein Research Paper
Throughout the world, nature is looked at as Beautiful! Unique! but it never goes
beyond this. In Frankenstein nature plays a big role in which Mary Shelley illustrates
characters who drives the reader to think about nature in both the outside world and
the human mind. This is shown first through Victor s narration and then the creature.
The creature and Victor are both so fascinated with the sublime landscapes that their
fascination forces them to explore the boundaries of their experiences, leaving
behind reality. Nature plays a very powerful role that negatively and positively
impacts Victor and the creature. Mary Shelley creates a relationship between Victor
and nature in that nature is used as a restorative representative in the book. We

This is significant because Victor was in no shape or in the right mental capacity
to go back to his hometown and visit family due to his relentless work on bringing
the creature to life using nature. So we can imply that on this walk, Victor wants
to believe that nature restored his health and spirits so that he could establish that
nature can positively impact him. This is illustrated again on page fortynine, I
remained two days at Lausanne, in this painful state of mind. I contemplated the
lake: the waters were placid; all around was calm, and the snowy mountains, the
palaces of nature, were not changed. By degrees the calm and heavenly scene
restored me, and I continued my journey towards Geneva. The road ran by the side
of the lake, which became narrower as I approached my native town. I discovered
more distinctly the black sides of Jura, and the bright summit of Mont Blanc. I wept
like a child: Dear mountains! My own beautiful lake! How do you welcome your
wanderer? Your summits are clear; the sky and lake are blue and placid. Is this to
Alcoholics Anonymous Meeting Essay
Psych: Drug Addiction
The meeting I attended was held in Millersville University at Lehr Hall at 9:30 Am. I
attended the meeting alone and was initially very hesitant and uncomfortable with the
idea. At the beginning not unexpected occurred really happened. It appeared to be a
very informal meeting that everyone seemed to already be acquainted. All the
members directed each other by name and I was welcomed by, what seemed to be,
a regular attendee as well as a new member. I sat down and initiated conversation
with the member next to me. She informed me that she goes to multiple meetings and
this was her first time at the specific location. She asked me of my major and other

This put the topic more towards forgiveness rather than anything else. The only
topic discussed, as I recall, was forgiveness. Many members gave their accounts of
moments in which they felt sorry and how they handled the situation. I will refrain
from going into further detail about any of the members of the group to keep their
anonymity. The meeting concluded with the serenity prayer. I was not familiar
with this prayer so I just held the hands of those near me and bowed my head out of
respect. Specific attendees of the meetings appeared more active and attentive
than others. Some of them seemed as though they did not want to be there and
looked miserable. About one or two of the members even fell asleep a couple of
times. Maybe some members went because they had to or because they just
wanted to help tell themselves that they are trying. This really interested me
because it is important to take notice that some people go and progress due to
being active and others are just forced. In the case of being forced it is very easy to
go to the meeting and just not be attentive or active. During the meeting I felt very
enlightened. The topic of forgiveness is very broad and is even relevant in my own
life. The viewpoint on the topic was very different and interesting. They talked
more about being forgiving of ourselves because we are the ones that cause
ourselves to react negatively to life s daily hassles and stressors. They also spoke on

Chemistry Of Airbags Lab Report
The chemistry of Airbags The airbags purpose is to move out quickly enough for a
head on collision, to prevent any harm to the individuals in the vehicle during a car
accident. The airbag system consists of a crash sensor(accelerometer),that detects
when a car decelerates very quickly, which then causes the ball(crash sensor) to
move forward and turn on the electrical circuit which causes the process of inflation
to occur. The gas generator in the airbag contains a mixture of NaN3, KNO3, and
SiO2.The current pulse heats up the sodium Azide, which then decomposes it into
sodium and nitrogen gas. Silicon dioxide, sodium oxide, and potassium oxide formed

Take a simple idea and take it seriously
Charlie Munger, Vice Chairman of Berkshire Hathaway
This quote taken from Charlie Munger, best describes the invention of the

may appear straightforward but the impact it has made in people s lives is larger.
As a student, I have to use a pen in my everyday work and without it I cannot get
any of my assignments done. In the process of using it, I always wonder how a
simple spring within a pen, plays a major role in the functioning of the pen. This led
to my interest in finding out that the concept of Hooke s Law is responsible for this.

Why I Want To Go Back To College
College can be scary and intimidating. I have said that many times. Therefore, a lot
of people rely on friends and people from their high school when they arrive to
college because this is comfortable to them. They are familiar with these people,
and it is easy to talk to them and be around them. A lot of people are scared to be on
their own or talk to new people. A lot of people are absolutely terrified of change.
Independency is intimidating and so is branching out to new people. However, if
you re looking for a chance to change and start something new, freshman year is the
time and the place. Everything is new, and going into it entirely single and on my
own allowed for so much freedom in my life. I wasn t focused on someone else and
was able to do things for myself. I was entirely focused on who I wanted to be, which
lead to showing me who I wanted to be around and what I look for in another person.
I now know the kind of person I see myself with in the future. I feel very confident
however that I would not have been able to dedicate so much time to myself and
learn these things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Security Manager is Essestial to Today s Organizations
Essay
A security manager position is one of the most important jobs that you will find in
any organization today. Recent events over the past few decades, have called for
more re amped security measures and procedures throughout facilities. The demand
for this position was not the same as it was, twenty or thirty years ago. However, not
every company operates on the same level and the position of a securitymanager may
differ from company to company.
The main objective of the job is to oversee the security operations for that company.

Which is making sure travels are secured at all times and protecting the airports
assets. The security manager must show that he or she has confidence in their
workforce, to ensure that the general public, airlines, and all person s on an aircraft
get to their destination in a safe and sound.
A security manager for TSA needs to make sure all procedures are being followed
according to the standard operating procedures or (SOP). Security deviations are a
big concern for security managers. They must act quickly to identify these
deviations and come up with plans when noticed. Another key responsibility that a
security manager must closely look at is ensuring all procedures are followed
accordingly. As a security manager, he or she must ensure that each employee knows
all required procedures and is proficient in their tasks. If an employee was to be
considered unfit for duty, and the manager allowed them to continue working, this
could put the airport in jeopardy.
It is apparent, that every security manager has a lot of responsibilities and is
considered to be a vital asset to any organization. Security, is the main focus and
priority of those that are selected into the position of security manager. The roles and
responsibilities of a TSA security manager are solely based on protecting the
traveling public and maintaining order within an airport terminal. The security

Benefits Of Girl Scouts
The Girl Scouts started in 1912 with only a small number of girls. Juliette Low, the
founder, was inspired to create the Girl Scouts after she went to a party in 1912. At
this party, she met Robert Baden Powell, the founder of the Boy Scouts, and wanted
to create a similar program of the opposite gender. In present time, there are now
millions of participating girls in this organization. Starting at the age of 5, a girlcan
enlist to become a Girl Scout and partake in the activities that range from hiking to
camping to selling cookies. The starting rank is Daisy which is grades
Kindergarten to first grade. The top and final rank is Ambassador which is grades
eleven to twelve. This program is a success because it has created women of high
status after they left, does not discriminate against others when recruiting, but it has
also lost the initial perspective from when it was originally created. The Girl Scouts
are a success because the women that have graduated from the program have become
women of high status in the world. Of the twenty one femalesenators that are
currently serving, 75% of current female senators were girl scouts (GirlScouts.org

States citizen for nine years, and must reside in that specific state. There are two
senators per state and they possess the power to review and discuss bills while also
proposing legislation and helping the president. Another high status that

the biggest costs that students have to deal with, and an eBook reader can help

short, was later classified as schedule 1 drug in July 1984. MDMA is making a

unbeknownst to the repercussions to the effects of this drug are dying as a result to
it. There has been many studies on MDMA s effects on rats which can show
similarities and the effects of what they can do to humans. MDMA affects people in
many ways. MDMA affects memory, social interaction, the nervous systemand it has
lasting effects on rats. According to Dzietko (2010), a small dose of MDMA in a rat
during a time where the rats brain is developing goes through major changes in
different parts of the brain. The amphetaminelike substance, MDMA, has neurotoxic
effects that lead to damage in the nervous system including serotonergic fibers,
dopamine levels, and neurons. MDMA specifically has a direct effect on serotonin
levels where it unleashes large amounts of it into the brain where there is not
normally that amount present. The negative emotions and feelings that should be
present that the brain is making is at the time is contained. With that much in the
brain it leads to nerve endings and synpatic vesicles clouded with serotonin which

It is riveting to believe that three billion people around the world suffer from poverty
and with the help of several nations, nothing has been done to prevent further
damage, in fact, more damage is caused in the process. The thousands of problems
that countries continuously face cannot be resolved by the actions of others who are
not responsible for their problems. The only way that a nation can improve is by on
its own putting the effort towards fixing their problems, while many people think
otherwise. Independent countries are looked down upon when they only think of
themselves. Most people s first thought is to think of the possibility of them being in
the position of the less fortunate, which leads to them feeling guilty. Taking either

Christopher Marlowe s play, Dr. Faustus, is the story of the struggle of one man
who is battling with himself over what he values most in life, and to what extent he
will go to obtain what he desires. The battles over the control of one s ego and what
a person values in their life are the two underlying struggles in this work. Faustus is a
very educated and high member of society, but he was born in a lower class and

wealthy when he learns how to call upon Satan, and he makes a deal with the devil to

Nor will Faustus henceforth. Pardon him for this, and Fautus vows never to look to

willing to attain worldly goods in the here and now, then to attain heavenly goods in
the after life.
This desire to have success and the low value in his soul allows the perfect
opportunity for Satan to bargain for his soul, and Mephostophilis, who must attract

Summary Of Four Perfect Pebbles
Four Perfect Pebbles was written by Lila Perl and Marion Blumenthal Lazan. The
biography is about Marion Blumenthal and her family s horrific life during the
holocaust. Marion was born on December 20, 1934 in Bremen, Germany. Marion
and her family were sent to a Nazi concentration camp when she was only nine years
old. She managed to survive the holocaustand has been telling others about her
experience for the last 36 years. She is now 83 years old and is still traveling to tell
her story.
For the first four years of Marion s life she lived in Hoya, Germany with her mother
Ruth, her father Walter, and her older brother Albert. She and her family lived on
the third floor of a tall building while her grandparents lived on the second floor.
On the first floor of the building was a store owned by her father and grandfather.
By the early 1930 s Hitler and his Nazi party had quickly rose in number. In 1932, the
Nazi party had 37% of the popular vote; they were the largest party in Germany.
This alarmed Marion s family greatly because the Nazis considered Jews inferior to
other German citizens. Hitler s hatred of the Jews only fanned the flames of anti
Semitism. On April 1, 1933 Hitler ordered a boycott of Jewish owned businesses,
which affected the income of the Blumenthal family. As the tension continued to rise
against the Jews the younger Blumenthals thought that they should make plans to
leave Germany but the older Blumenthals thought differently. Soon after Hitler

  • 4. The Gettysburg Address The Impact of the Gettysburg Address on the United States The speech we now know as the Gettysburg Address was given to consecrate the fallen soldiers in the bloodiest battle of the Civil War. It is known as one of the most influential speeches ever and has been recognized in hindsight as pivotal in the outcome of the war. Its brevity and poetry emphasized America s original dream, the importance of equality, and the opportunity for a new birth of freedom, a message which continues to be of relevance today. The Gettysburg Address was powerful because each word was thought out and was meaningful to Lincoln. It was on November 19, 1863, when Lincoln delivered the speech after the battle of Gettysburg. The Battle of Gettysburg was the most demoralizing battle of the Civil war between the Union and the Confederacy, with over 50,000 casualties in just three days. Lincoln spoke at the ceremonies honoring the brave Union soldiers after Edward Everett, a famous orator who spoke for two hours. In contrast Lincoln captivated his crowd for just over two minutes with a mere 272 words. He was concise and to the point while also poetic. Everett is known to have sent Lincoln a letter after the ceremony that said; I should be glad, if I could flatter myself that I came as near to the central idea of the occasion, in two hours, as you did in two minutes. Yet we all know everyone is different and no two people are the same, and the society constructed by Nancy Farmer in The House of the Scorpion is no different except for the anti hero Matt. After facing reality that he was cloned from a cow, Matt finds it incredibly difficult to live a normal life. He is consistently mistreated by everyone, especially Rosa, who is supposed to care for him but treats him like an actual animal. In The House of the Scorpion Nancy Farmer uses italics, em dashes, and description to stir the reader s empathy. To start, italics are used towards the beginning of the book in order to stir the reader s empathy for Matt. In this point in the book, Rosa, Matt s new caretaker treats him like an animal. She literally takes away his bed, builds a pen and fills it with wood chips, then sticks Matt in it. He develops rashes and infections due to the living conditions, but no matter how much he begs to live normally he always gets a similar response. One day Rosa gets especially raged one day. I could kill you, she said quietly. I could bury your body under the floor and I might do it. (Farmer 39) Nancy Farmer s use of italics shows the readers why Rosa may be an antagonist in the story. This may be alleged because of her harsh manner when she speaks and her cruel actions throughout the story. This is

The 2003 film Miracleis about the events that led USA to victory. Also, the film exemplifies that an underdog can truly win. In my opinion, the film Miracle is the best well made and most influential sports movie. I give it 10 out 10 stars, based on the realistic action scenes, inspirational quotes and underdog story. The first piece of criteria I used was Inspirational quotes. Quotes that have a deeper meaning in them. One form of prejudice is racism. Racism is negative attitudes and values held by people about other people based on their race. It is this attitude which causes one to discriminate against another. Discrimination is treating people unfavorably on the basis of race, color or sex. Prejudice and discrimination were prevalent in the 1950s and 1960s. Medgar Evers was born in 1925 in Decatur, Mississippi. After serving in the U.S. Army, he began to establish local chapters of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (better known as the NAACP), whose primary focus is the protection and enhancement of the civil rights of African Americans and other minorities, while attending Alcorn A amp;M College. The book begins in October of 1776, where King George III speaks to the British Parliament about the ongoing war against the American colonies. The Americans had managed gain a vital area of the war that gave them a huge advantage. Both the Colonists and the British knew that Dorchester Heights would give whoever captured it larger protection. Yet, both sides hesitated to act upon this knowledge. Finally, the Americans decided to capture it, after developing a brilliant plan. Everything had been well planned out, yet still kept secret to avoid the enemy learning their plan. The British were absolutely clueless what was going to happen, which was a key factor in the American success. On the night of March 4th, Americans began their plan to move in and capture Dorchester Heights. Troops would begin to bombard Boston, in order to occupy the British. Meanwhile, 2,000 men would begin their plan at Dorchester. They began to stack large bales of hay, which kept the British from being able to see their move on Dorchester at night. Then they would begin to set up their weaponry. One thing I find absolutely astonishing is how they managed to remain perfectly silent during this move. The British hadn t even noticed anything until roughly 10:00 the next morning, and while the Americans were ready to hold off small arms, the British General Francis Smith decided to ignore it. I would have to say that his decision was a fatal mistake. When General Howe finally realized what the Americans had done that night, he exclaimed, My God, these fellows have done more work in one night than I could make my army do in three months. I m not sure why, but that quote was very amusing to me. The Americans had successfully completed their plan, and Dorchester Heights was under their control. Another huge gain by their accomplishment was the effect it had on the American army. It brought the hopes up of many soldiers, which, as I learned, was a key factor in the success of many battles. Many great socio political movements of the world have focused from time to time on unjust laws eg Apartheid laws in South Africa and Caste laws in India. The two principles of justice that such people choose are: 1. Each person is to have an equal right to the most extensive liberty compatible with a similar liberty to others. 2. Social and economic inequalities are to be arranged so that they are both a) to the greatest benefit of the least advantages b) attached to offices and positions open to all under conditions of fair equality and opportunity. These principles are arranged by Rawls in a specific order and are subject to the priority rule, ie the first principle has to always precede the second and 2a should always come before 2b. Rawls commitment to equality, his passionate defense of liberty and his acceptance of inequality only when it brings advantages to the least advantaged are the basic principles of his theory. I was not familiar with this prayer so I just held the hands of those near me and bowed my head out of respect. Specific attendees of the meetings appeared more active and attentive than others. Some of them seemed as though they did not want to be there and looked miserable. About one or two of the members even fell asleep a couple of times. Maybe some members went because they had to or because they just wanted to help tell themselves that they are trying. This really interested me because it is important to take notice that some people go and progress due to being active and others are just forced. In the case of being forced it is very easy to go to the meeting and just not be attentive or active. During the meeting I felt very enlightened. The topic of forgiveness is very broad and is even relevant in my own life. The viewpoint on the topic was very different and interesting. They talked more about being forgiving of ourselves because we are the ones that cause ourselves to react negatively to life s daily hassles and stressors. They also spoke on the control

Chemistry Of Airbags Lab Report The chemistry of Airbags The airbags purpose is to move out quickly enough for a head on collision, to prevent any harm to the individuals in the vehicle during a car accident. The airbag system consists of a crash sensor(accelerometer),that detects when a car decelerates very quickly, which then causes the ball(crash sensor) to move forward and turn on the electrical circuit which causes the process of inflation to occur. The gas generator in the airbag contains a mixture of NaN3, KNO3, and SiO2.The current pulse heats up the sodium Azide, which then decomposes it into sodium and nitrogen gas.
