MATH 3 ORIENTATION School Year 2009-2010

? What do these two have in common?
Both can be mastered with
But what is MATH 3???
Math 3 is a continuation of first year algebra and starts with a review of the basic algebraic concepts and operations . Then it progresses to a functional approach on linear, quadratic, polynomial, and rational equations with emphasis on graphs and solution to systems . Finally it concludes with a discussion on inequalities .
FIRST QUARTER! * Quadratic Equations * Complex Numbers * Rational Equations * Functions
Remember factoring? 2x 2 -x-10 ->  (x+2)(2x-5) In  Quadratic Equations,  we add an “=0” and solve for x! 2x 2 -x-10  = 0
SECOND QUARTER! * Lines * Lines and * More Lines!
THIRD QUARTER! * Systems of Equations * Matrices
A Matrix is an array of numbers!
FOURTH QUARTER! * Quadratic Functions * Graphs of Parabolas * Polynomial Inequalities
