Mass media includes radio, television, newspapers, and the internet. Radio was invented in 1895 and allowed people to listen to different stations. Television started with only a few black and white channels broadcasting films and news, but has since improved worldwide with many channels now available, as well as integrating with the internet. Newspapers are still commonly used around the world. The internet now plays a large role in people's lives, allowing video watching, book reading, communication, and access to complete information.

Samuel Morse
Samuel Morse was an American inventor best known for developing the Morse code and helping to develop the commercial use of telegraphy. After establishing himself as a portrait painter, Morse contributed to the invention of the single-wire telegraph system based on European telegraphs. He encountered challenges in sending signals long distances but was able to send the first message over 10 miles with the help of Professor Gale. Congress later funded an experimental telegraph line between Washington D.C. and Baltimore where the first telegraph message was sent. Though he saw little financial return, Morse helped lay the foundation for modern communication systems before passing away in 1872.
