The document discusses the media and globalization. It defines different types of media such as print media (newspapers, magazines) and electronic media (radio, television, films). It then defines globalization as the integration of economies, societies and cultures through communication, transportation and trade. The media plays a key role in globalization by spreading ideas across borders, though this can lead to both homogenization and diversification of cultures. A small number of large media companies dominate distribution of information worldwide. The media influences public opinion and can shape perceptions on important issues and events. Exposure to violence in media can also impact children's development.
The ability of the present-day human to be fully aware of what’s happening in every corner of the globe owes its possibility to the efficient mechanisms operated by the transnational media corporations. For more than a century, these entities have progressively expanded worldwide thus impacting every human life with the aid of the advanced communication systems technologies such as cable, digital, satellite, and the internet that were developed in the twentieth century. It can be well said that these technologies powered up the rise, growth, and extension of transnational media corporations because they enabled them to seamlessly develop high-quality content and distribute it worldwide in real-time. This presentation is aimed at explaining the scope of this phenomenon, the entities behind it, and how such transformations have promoted global communication and at the same time it explores the criticism they face regarding their ownership, content generation and coverage. In this presentation, we also observe that the success of TMC’s lie in the billion-dollar investments, mergers, and acquisitions which have seen them combine resources with their rivals to dominate and influence the global media market – a result which has not been without disapproval from the media critics and scholars. The review questions at the end of the presentation let us ponder over the inquisitive concerns related to what is covered herein.

"Communications is the mechanism through which human relations exist and develop.”
Models help us understand complex phenomenon.
Different communication models illustrate different aspects of communication.Models are never perfect.
ITFT-MEDIA, The barriers to communicationSurbhi Rishi
Communication is a process beginning with a sender who encodes the message and passes it through some channel to the receiver who decodes the message.
Communication is fruitful if and only if the messages sent by the sender are interpreted with same meaning by the receiver.
If any kind of disturbance blocks any step of communication, the message will be destroyed. Due to such disturbances, managers in an organization face severe problems
Being a radio RJ is a hectic job but it can also be a fun and very rewarding career. Unlike many other jobs, it is not hectic in terms of worrisome stress. Rather, a RJ has to be a master of multi-tasking and time management.
There are many tasks to perform and processes to keep in mind while hosting a live show on-air. This guide will introduce you to some of the main responsibilities of a radio RJ during a show.
The programmes on radio and television can be live, pre-recorded or a combination of both. The nature of production calls for whether a programme will be produced live or recorded in advance and used later.
Live production involves the risk of production errors, as there are no "second chances". It has to be right the first time, which is the only time. However, live production is cheaper than recorded production techniques and sometimes easier and quicker.
Recorded productions allow supervision and control over quality. In this method, first recording of programmes is done. Editing and postproduction are done at a later time
media ownership It is a process whereby progressively fewer individuals or organizations control increasing shares of the mass media.
Contemporary research demonstrates increasing levels of consolidation, with many media industries already highly concentrated and dominated by a very small number of firms.
environmental communication refers to the study and practice of how individuals, institutions, societies, and cultures craft, distribute, receive, understand, and use messages about the environment and human interactions with the environment. This includes a wide range of possible interactions, from interpersonal communication to virtual communities, participatory decision making, and environmental media coverage.
Effective communication is the hallmark of an effective personality. Communication is the most important aspect of human personality and we can’t think of an effective personality in the absence of effective communication.
The newspaper is the voice of the community. The editorials are the voice of the newspaper. This voice can inform readers, stimulate thinking, mold opinion and occasionally move people to action
Writing an editorial to be worthy of print space, the editorial needs to tell the reader something that would not be discussed in a straight news story. However, the editorial must be researched carefully and just as thoroughly as a news story.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

We all have good and bad thoughts from time to time and situation to situation. We are bombarded daily with spiraling thoughts(both negative and positive) creating all-consuming feel , making us difficult to manage with associated suffering. Good thoughts are like our Mob Signal (Positive thought) amidst noise(negative thought) in the atmosphere. Negative thoughts like noise outweigh positive thoughts. These thoughts often create unwanted confusion, trouble, stress and frustration in our mind as well as chaos in our physical world. Negative thoughts are also known as “distorted thinking”.
2. MEDIA
• In general, "media" refers to various means of
communication. For example, television, radio,
and the newspaper are different types of media.
• The term can also be used as a collective noun
for the press or news reporting agencies.
• In the computer world, "media" is also used as
a collective noun, but refers to different types
of data storage options
3. TYPES OF MEDIA
• Mainly there are two
types of mass media:
1. Print Media –
newspapers,
magazines, journals
2. Electronic Media –
radio, television,
films, new media
4. • Globalization (or globalization) describes the
process by which regional economies, societies, and
cultures have become integrated through a global
network of political ideas through communication,
transportation, and trade.
• The term also refers to the transnational circulation
of ideas, languages and popular culture.
• Globalization…refers to the growing
interconnectedness of different parts of the world, a
process which gives rise to complex forms of
interaction and interdependency
5. DEFINITIONS
The United Nations ESCWA has
written that globalisation is a widely
used term that can be defined in a no
of ways. When used in an economic
context it refers to the reduction and
removal of barriers between national
borders in order to facilitate flow of
goods, capital, service, labour etc.
The International Monetary Fund
defines globalisation as the growing
economic interdependence of
countries worldwide through
increasing volume and variety of
cross-border transactions in goods and
services.
“The elimination of state-enforced
restrictions on exchanges across
borders and the increasingly
integrated and complex global system
of production and exchange that has
emerged as a result” Tom G. Palmer
6. What role do the media
play in the rush
towards globalization?
• To some, globalization means the transfer of ideas and
culture from the developed west to the undeveloped world,
resulting in a homogenization of consumerist culture across
borders that threatens to disrupt and permanently alter
indigenous values. Yet others might suggest that the flow of
ideas occurs in multiple directions, resulting in less
homogenization and more diversification of ideas and
lifestyles.
• Even these general models mask the true depth and
complexity of the global reach of media. What is certain is
that globalization has greatly expanded the importance of
what information lies within the "public sphere," and the
sharing of that information will undoubtedly continue to
have an effect both on the lives of private individuals vis-à-
vis their relationships with each other, and the nation-states
7. Cont….
• Most theorists agree that there
is practically no globalization
without media and
communications, as many of
the definitions of globalization
at least indirectly acknowledge.
The role of media and
communications is, of course
obvious in globalization
theories, but it is not necessarily
visible. This causes problems in
two ways. First the role of
media and communications in
globalization theories remain
vague and unspecified.
Secondly media studies missed
the „big picture‟ of globalization
and have been contributing little
to theoretical discussions on
globalization.
8. • The media is basically dominated by five major
companies they are.
1Time Warner
2VIACOM
3Vivendi Universal
4Walt Disney
5News Corp
These 5 companies own 95% of all the media that
we get every day. They own the major entertainment
theme parks, entertainment movie studios; television
and radio broadcast networks and programming,
video news and sports entertainment
9. • How media influence-
For example, after the attacks of 9/11 the
media gave a huge coverage of the event and
exposed Osama guilty for the attack as they
were told by the authorities. This shaped the
public opinion to support the war on terrorism,
the same happened with the war on Iraq. The
problem is that if media received accurate
information then the public opinion supported a
wrong cause, this is the power of public
opinion influence
10. • Effects of violence in
the Media
When we watch TV
or a movie we usually
see many images of
violence and people
hurting others. The
problem with this is
that it can become
traumatic especially
in our children as we
see it more and more.
Our kids that are
starting to grow and
are shaping their
personality values and
beliefs can become
aggressive or they can
lose a sense of reality
and fiction of what
they are seeing
