- 3. INTRODUCTION Individualized instruction focuses on the needs of the individual student. Teaching is specific and targets one need at a time. The teaching method can be used on its own, or it can be part of differentiated teaching. Some students who receive individualized instruction need teachers to help them understand and learn.
- 4. DEFINITION Individualized Instruction is a method of teaching in which content, instructional technology, and pace of learning are based upon the abilities and interest of each learner.
- 5. CHARACTERISTICS OF INDIVIDUALIZED INSTRUCTION • Individualized instruction is directed to the needs of the learner. • Provide scope for learning at their own pace. • Ensures individual attainment of objectives. • Ensure mastery of learning. • Provide privacy for learners. • Ensure active participation of the learners.
- 6. MERITS • It provide maximum privacy of the learners. • It is more effective. • Provides maximum results. • It reduces stress of competition.
- 7. DEMERITS • Individualized instructional designing is very costly. • Time consuming, needs much labour from the part of the teacher. • Lacks social training and warmth of a class room. • It demands more effort from the teachers.
