Mainstream
• Instagram is a mainstream product of media because the target audience is everyone
• Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing site that allows its users to share pictures and videos either
publicly or privately on the app, as well as through a variety of other social networking platforms
Independent
• An independent business is a business that is free from outside control. It usually means a privately owned
establishment, as opposed to a public limited company, the latter of which is owned by investment
shares traded in the stock market. In many cases, independent businesses are sole proprietorship companies
• An example is Scott Cawthon company who made Five Nights at Freddy’s
Niche
• A specialized segment of the market for a particular kind of product or service
• Social-media companies, online gaming companies, and application-development companies needed a way
to move past page views and measure user engagement and interaction. Two Arizona State students
developed a solution and in 2009 launched Mixpanel, whose slogan is “Actions speak louder than page
views.”
