The 21st
century learners live in a visual society with a lot of visual
media. The author aimed to develop printed instructional materials in
the form of comics in Physics since graphic materials can clearly
convey complex ideas and hold learner’s attention longer.

Statement of the Problem

1. What were the least-mastered competencies in Kinematics (Motion in
One Dimension)?
2. Based on the assessment of the competencies, what comics in
Kinematics maybe developed?
3. What were the mean responses of the Non-Master teacher-evaluators
of the comics in terms of Accuracy of the material, Clarity of the
material, Appeal to the target user and Originality of the comics?
4. What were the mean responses of the Master teacher- evaluators of
the comics in terms of the Accuracy of the material, Clarity of the
material, Appeal to the target user and Originality of the Comics?
5. Was there a significant difference between the mean responses of the
Non-Master teacher-evaluators and Master teacher-evaluators in terms of
the acceptability of the comics?

Difference in the Responses of Master Teachers and Non-Master
Teachers on the Acceptability of the Comics

Summary of Findings
5/7 Third Canadian International Conference on Advances in Education, Teaching & Technology 2018
1. Pre-assessment test showed that Grade 7 students performed Poorly in
following competencies: describing motion of an object in terms of distance or
displacement, speed or velocity, and acceleration; differentiating quantities in terms
of magnitude and direction; and interpreting visual representation of the motion of
the objects such as motion graphs.
2. Non-Master Teachers found Very Highly Acceptable the proposed comics in
3. Master Teachers also rated as Very Highly Acceptable the comics in Kinematics
4. T-test results showed that Master Teachers and Non-Master Teachers do not
differ on their evaluation of the comics’ accuracy (t=0.317, p=0.756), clarity
(t=0.271, p=0.791), appeal to the user (t=0.475, p=0.643), originality (t=0.694,
p=0.500).

The least-mastered competencies in Kinematics are: describing
motion of an object in terms of distance or displacement, speed or
velocity, and acceleration; differentiating quantities in terms of
magnitude and direction; and interpreting visual representation of
the motion of the objects such as motion graphs. The developed
comics in Kinematics rated as Very Highly Acceptable can be used
in teaching Grade 7 students. Non-Master Teachers perceived the
comics in Kinematics to be Very Highly Acceptable. Master
Teachers also evaluated the comics in Kinematics to be Very Highly
Acceptable. Master Teachers and Non-Master Teachers are similar
on their evaluation that the comics in Kinematics have Very High
Acceptability in terms of its accuracy, clarity, appeal and originality.

Pre-assessment test showed that Grade 7 students performed Poorly in following competencies: describing motion of an object in terms of distance or displacement, speed or velocity, and acceleration; differentiating quantities in terms of magnitude and direction; and interpreting visual representation of the motion of the objects such as motion graphs. 2. Non-Master Teachers found Very Highly Acceptable the proposed comics in 3. Master Teachers also rated as Very Highly Acceptable the comics in Kinematics 4. T-test results showed that Master Teachers and Non-Master Teachers do not differ on their evaluation of the comics’ accuracy (t=0.317, p=0.756), clarity (t=0.271, p=0.791), appeal to the user (t=0.475, p=0.643), originality (t=0.694, p=0.500).

International Conference on Advanced Computing and Intelligent Engineering (ICACIE 2016) Conclusions 6/7 Third Canadian International Conference on Advances in Education, Teaching & Technology 2018 The least-mastered competencies in Kinematics are: describing motion of an object in terms of distance or displacement, speed or velocity, and acceleration; differentiating quantities in terms of magnitude and direction; and interpreting visual representation of the motion of the objects such as motion graphs. The developed comics in Kinematics rated as Very Highly Acceptable can be used in teaching Grade 7 students. Non-Master Teachers perceived the comics in Kinematics to be Very Highly Acceptable. Master Teachers also evaluated the comics in Kinematics to be Very Highly Acceptable. Master Teachers and Non-Master Teachers are similar on their evaluation that the comics in Kinematics have Very High Acceptability in terms of its accuracy, clarity, appeal and originality.
