Analysis Of Beauty When The Dancer Is The Self
An unknown author from thethingswesay.com once said, Beauty is the opposite of perfection it s
about confidence, charisma and character. For many people, women especially, this concept
seems unrealistic. In the autobiography Beauty: When the dancer is the self by Alice Walker,
she identifies with this perception of life and applies it to the societal views of beauty. Through
her autobiography, she sets the stage by explaining her childhood, beginning with her sassy and
independent nature as a two and a half year old. Proceeding several years later, she describes her
pain from being shot in the eye by her brother and the cover up that altered their relationship.
Next came the feelings of diffidence and timidity from the accident, that led to her physical and
mental decline. Finally, the acceptance of past events, followed by, the ability to see the world
in her eye (Walker 40) enables Walker to value herself and spread the message of self acceptance.
Using the pain felt from that shot, both mental and physical, she is able to define a new chapter
in her life and become an award winning novelist. By writing to a broad audience, she is able to
make a greater impact as she delves into the process of taking pain and despair and transforming
it into self celebration. In Walker s essay, she addresses this reoccurring theme by employing
structural preferences, logical appeals and the use of imagery to cultivate a powerful message of
personal growth. In Walker s essay, she

Tensile Testing In The World Trade Center
Introduction
The World Trade Center was a global icon of The United States of America. The tallest of the
buildings was over 1,300 feet high (10). With such large buildings, the materials used in
construction needed to meet certain standards just to successfully stand erect. The design intent has
the biggest factor for the material selection. In the World Trade Centers, the materials were
supposed to meet certain properties and requirements. The analysis of whether or not the World
Trade Center buildings were built to requirements will be discussed.

Next, it was found to be true that the measured strength typically was greater than the specified
strength, which indicates that the factor of safety is met (8). However, some tests have
measured strengths less than the specified strength (8). Figure 1 displays the factor of safety in
each region of the towers. Anything with a R value less than 1, had a yield strength less than the
specified requirements. Due to this, the part is not classified as defective, but is a form of quality
control (8). This is important because each area of the building needed to be inspected to ensure
that there were no specific regions of failure. The parts of lower strengths have been analyzed and
it has been determined that they had no contribution to the failure of the buildings (8). The factors
of safety were generally met. Figure 1: R measurement versus specified yield strength (8)
в—‹Ductility
Having a ductile fracture rather than a brittle fracture is important. A ductile fracture is able to
absorb more energy than a brittle fracture can (8). Figure 2 shows the relationship between brittle
and ductile metals and their fracture points in a stress/strain diagram. A brittle fracture can
withstand more stress, but only when lower strains are applied. A ductile fracture can withstand
less stress, but can withstand more strain. This figure illustrates this relationship

Challenges Of Pension Incomes
Sessions of counseling The counseling will take place for a period of two weeks, with each
session taking place at the end of the day. This will be beneficial so that everyone can provide an
overview of his or her day. The objectives that will be achieved by the project includes identifying
the main challenges facing the retirees and the ways of dealing with them, appreciating the
usefulness of pension incomes, assessing the performance of pension incomes, and identifying the
benefits of including the retirees in various pension schemes available in the country. This is
because many policies have been drafted to assist retirees. However, only a few of them have been

The objective of the session was to find out the different ways in which the retirees who had
received pensions spent their income and how those who engage in other activities of earning extra
income spend their finances. The goal was establish whether or not their incomes were sufficient
enough and what could be done to help them generate more income if their funds did not satisfy
their needs. Retirees always utilize their pension to cater for their bills (Kerr, and Armstrong
Stassen, 2011). Among the members there were spendthrifts, and some were well equipped with
ways of managing their little incomes. Everyone had an opportunity of explaining what he/she

Working Together in Robert Frost s Mending Wall
The air is cool and crisp. Roosters can be heard welcoming the sun to a new day and a woman is
seen, wearing a clean colorful wrap about her body and head, her shadow casting a lone silhouette
on the stone wall. The woman leans over to slide a piece of paper into one of the cracks, hoping her
prayer will be heard in this city of Jerusalem. Millions are inserting their prayers into the walls of
Japanese temples, while an inmate in one of a hundred prisons across the United States looks past
his wall toward the prayers he did not keep. Billions fall asleep each night surrounded by four
walls and thousands travel to China to witness the grandest one of all. Who builds walls and who ...

He blames it upon the cold ravages of a winter swell and the indifferent attitude of hunters searching
out a hare. By leaving the question a mystery the speaker is able to entertain himself with fantasies
of elves and ideas of fiction, to fill a winter s long mind made mischievious by the spring season
(Lentricchia 105).
In defense of why a wall should be maintained the farmer merely states his father s saying, Good
fences make good neighbors (Frost 28). The farmer does not have any real proof of why the
wall should be put back each spring, when there is no threat of livestock crossing the borders.
When questioned a second time he gave the same answer and again without giving the reason
why fences make good neighbors. Family tradition and work ethic seem to be this farmer s
motivation. He seeks to get the wall completed where the speaker appears more entertained by
the activity (Barry 145). The farmer s mechanical repair of the fence is imagined in the eyes of the
speaker as an old stone savage armed (Stanford 40).
Before attitudes can be discussed first the poem s moral must be decided. Mending Wall does
not take the approach of right and wrong, rather it shows two perspectives. There is the speaker
who seeks a release from the dull ritual of work each spring and the farmer, who is trapped by work
and the New England past (Lentricchia 106). Two

Input Rate and Demand Rate Process Capacity
Throughput =Min {Process Capacity}
It is evident from the process flowchart that the capacity of the drying unit is minimum at 450 and
maximum at 600 bbls/hr. However, this does not apply to dry berries.
Both dry and wet berries go through the separation process with a capacity of 1200 bbls/hr. Since
70% of the berries are wet, the capacity for separation is recalculated as
Separation capacity for wet berries = 70% of 1200 bbls/hr = 840 bbls/hr
Separation capacity for dry berries = 30% of 1200 bbls/hr = 360 bbls/hr

Arrival time of berries = 7 AM.
Time for storage in the dumper and bins = 4 hours
Total number of berries = 1500*4 = 6000 bbls
Total number of wet berries = 70% of 6000 = 4200 bbls
Total number of dry berries = 30% of 6000 = 1800 bbls

Excess berries in bins start getting processed at (600 450) =150 bbls/hr
Arrival of berries stops at 7 PM.
Excess dry berries remaining after 7 PM = 1800 8*150 = 600 bbls.

Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change
According to the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the people have to
cut about 90% of the use of fossil fuels worldwide to have a slim chance of stopping Global
Warming. If the people have anything less than the percentage given, Global Warming will not
stop. As of now Global Warming is a big issue throughout the world. Some say Global Warming
is
just a myth to scare people and it s just a natural cause, but there is proof that Global Warming is a
fact and that the main cause of Global Warming is anthropogenic causes or man made. Man has
overused the burning of fossil fuels throughout generations and the numbers of burning fossil fuels
keeps getting higher every year. The increase of temperatures, sea levels, and carbon dioxidein the
last century shows evidence that Global Warming is occurring and man is the main problem.
First of all, what is global warming? Global warming is the increase of Earth s temperature due
to carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels also known as greenhouse gases (Global
Warming). The carbon dioxide traps heat which would make the temperature to rise, this is known
as the greenhouse effect. The main causes of global warming would have to be carbon dioxide
and air pollution that is going around the atmosphere, trapping the sun s heat which causes the
earth to warm up. Human activity has been a key factor to that. The burning of fossil fuels causes
a lot more greenhouse gases to be trapped in the

Garrett Morgan Speech
Hello everyone and welcome to my new history channel, People of History. Today we will be
discussing a very important inventor, who was known for the creation of the gas mask and the
traffic signal, Mr. Garrett Augustus Morgan.
Before we begin, here are the two main sources that I used in researching for this video. And now
we will begin.
Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1877, the same year that Reconstruction would end in the south.
His father was a former confederate colonel named John Hunt Morgan and his mother was half
Native American and half African American.
Despite his sixth grade education, Morgan was blessed with the mind of a true inventor, as well as
ideas for entrepreneurship. While he worked in a textile factory, he learned the... Show more

His reason for making it was to save lives on the road, and reduce the chances of collisions on the
road. He wanted his invention to be used to tell cars when they could go, and when pedestrians
could walk across the street. This invention was recognized by General Electric, and led to the
company buying Morgan s patent in 1923.
Morgan s safety hood received praise and was used by many in the Northern states across hundreds
of cities. The hood was even sold to the United States Army and Navy, who would use this
invention during the First World War.
Despite success in the North, the southern states proved to be more difficult. Though his
invention received praise in the press in the year of 1916, Morgan was taken out of the story, and
there was only mention of the other men who went to save the men in the tunnel. After this
occurred it would take many years until Cleveland and the rest of the United States would fully
recognize Morgan s accomplishments. By the time of his death in 1963, he was recognized as a
hero of Lake Erie and restored to his rightful place in American history. Today, Morgan s inventions
have evolved through the years, and continue to be used to this very

THE ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALING OF PATIENTS WITH DIABETES

ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALINGOF PATIENTS WITH
DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW)
Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a
wound environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett,
2002). Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from
wound bed which acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and
Claxton, 2006). The presence of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including
sepsis and delayed healing. Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non
healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or
contaminated tissue within or adjacent to wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith,
2002).According to International Diabetic Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized
tissue is paramount for effective wound care of DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular
debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce burden in order to expedite wound healing.
Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be necessary for optimal wound healing for
DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the effectiveness of its different method is
lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly developed (Haycock and Chadwick,
2012). Debridement has always been

Protections Against Dumping Products
When it comes to free trade agreements between member countries, there are obvious advantages
like the efficiency of importing and exporting which would help advance economic growth and
development. However, in spite of these gains, every country tries to protect certain industries from
entering into their markets through the placement of legal restrictions like tariffs/quotas so as to
reduce the threat of external competition and protect domestic employment. This is known as
protectionism.
Similarly, in this commentary, the economies of China and Australia are spoken about. Information
in the article states that Australia is planning an anti dumping investigation due to China repeatedly
dumping paper onto their markets. Thus, it can be seen how protectionism is essential in order to
prevent the dumping of Chinese paper onto domestic markets.
A country is said to be dumping a product if it exports its goods at a predatory price i.e. a value
much lower than original production costs, somewhere below the price charged in the domestic
market and is considered illegal. An anti dumping duty is a protectionist tariff imposed by the
domestic government on foreign imports that it believes are priced below the fair market value.
Figure1.1 shows how, as a result of China dumping paper, Australian producers are affected
because customers obviously get attracted to lower prices,(Pdumping) thereby reducing sales
revenue for domestic producers from l+c+g+h to g, as the demand for

Passover is, without a doubt, one of the most sacred holidays in Jewish culture, and in this

in Egypt by the Pharaoh who had begone to fear them, because of how fast their numbers were
increasing. So, after several years of slavery and oppression, God made Himself known to a man

In this section of the paper, I would like to go over how Passover is celebrated today. For some
Jews, the celebrations last for seven or eight days. Many Jewish families clean their houses
thoroughly during this time to remove all traces of leaven. In many Jewish homes, the children
can take part in a special search for any leftover leaven. On the evening right before the Passover
begins, Jews have a special service called a Seder. Seder takes place over a meal with family and
friends in the home. The Seder plate is made up of a lamb shank, a roasted egg, a green vegetable
to dip in salt water, some bitter herbs and horseradish, and a paste of chopped apples, walnuts, and

In Kecia Ali’S Book “Sexual Ethics And Islam” We Are
Given
In Kecia Ali s book Sexual Ethics and Islam we are given a unique perspective on various
subjects within Islam. The chapters deal with topics that have been widely ignored or partially
approached, she addresses them in a way that seeks to not only spark a conversation but ensure
the conversation is uncensored and gets to the root of the issue. Of the nine chapters this book,
chapter six was perhaps the most significant because it is here that we are given a firm grasp on
what Ali is aiming to convey with this book. Through an analysis of this chapter it will become
clear that this chapter was used to fully develop her idea of readdressing what is considered
Islamic, the actions of Muslims, the way scholars justify beliefs, and issues... Show more content on

A similar point is made in chapter 7 about the word muslimmun and how it can be used to refer
to both men and women (Ali, 148). Furthermore, we also see Ali contesting a verse that suggests
men have authority and are responsible for women but only in financial terms then when a
woman supports herself the man no longer has authority or responsibility (Ali, 153). Here we see
Ali furthering the idea from chapter 6 because she is displaying how women have progressed and
in modern day many women are independent; therefore, its important to look back at verses like
this and view them as a product of their time as Ali suggests about sunna and hadith as a whole (Ali,
128). As previously stated, Ali asks if perhaps Islamis what Muslims practice in their daily lives.
However, she debunks that because Muslims lives vary and what some do contradicts the
authoritative texts. In my previous analysis of how translation can be manipulated, a patriarchal
undertone was present and it is also present when dealing with the subject of the daily lives of
Muslims. This undertone is present throughout the book and is heightened in this chapter.
Ali states that FGC (female genital circumcision) is not merely a customary practice incorrectly
understood as having religious authority (Ali, 131). This is stated

Michiko Takahashie Diary Analysis
Hello diary. My name is Michiko Takahashi and I am fifteen years old. I live on a very small
farm on the outskirts of Vancouver, British Columbia. I went to Prince of Wales secondary
school. I absolutely love photography so there will definitely be photos included in my journal. I
have a little sister named Akiko which means bright child and a little brother named Kazuhiko
which means harmonious prince . We call him Kiki. My older brother s name is Daichi which
means great wisdom . I am writing in this diarybecause I can write whatever I want to, for example,
my thoughts and feelings, and nobody can judge me. I can write my opinions and thoughts here
without my parents judging me. Sometimes our ideas clash, but I love them anyway.... Show more

I really couldn t write yesterday because my annoying, older brother found out about my diary.
He stole it and hid it. I wonder if he read it. I highly doubt it because I have a sturdy lock on it,
and my diary wasn t completely shredded up. It was completely unharmed which I found really
weird. He also denied ever taking it which didn t help things at all for him because I found my
diary sitting on his bed. I wasn t even snooping through his room. I couldn t find my diary and
was panicking, and when I was walking past Daichi s room, I saw it sitting right out in the open on
his bed. Thank goodness it was still shut.

I really hate the way that Japanese people are treated in Vancouver right now.
I saw some signs today and they completely ruined my day. I am honestly so terrified of being
killed, or taken to internment camps. I just want to stay where I am and never go out again. If
anyone of Japanese descent went into any of the restricted areas, they would be put into prison.
Because they are Japanese, the sentence would probably be extremely unfair. Actually since

Black Tuesday
The stock market crash, October 29, 1929 this is also known as Black Tuesday. The Great
Depression was an economic slump in North America and Europe. The industrialized Western
world had experienced the most ruthless and prolonged depression. Cinderella Man is only one
example of how families struggle and overcame the great depression. You will see how this
effective many Americans. Why the stock market crashed, was due to two factors, economic and
financial. For example economic factors where, poor distribution of wealth, many consumers relied
on credit, credit dried up, consumer spending dropped and industries struggled. Financial factors
were a threat to the stock market rise in the mid 1920s. Speculation in stock... Show more content

In view of the fact that consumers are not purchasing as much food, farmers are struggling in
saving their farms. Also, the drought or also known as the dust storms are contributing to this
reason. Since people were not buying as much the farmers could not afford to keep the farms,
and the drought was making it even more difficult to grow food. Therefore, unable to make
payments they would either file for bankruptcy or may be foreclosed. With these failures came
unemployment, this is cause by not having enough jobs for people. The unemployment rate rose
up to 25 percent, some areas where even higher than that. Hoovervilles and hoboes where the

The Warming Of Global Warming Essay
It is largely known that the most significant issue facing the planet today is global warming. There
is no doubt it is one of the biggest environmental issues throughout time, though it is widely debated
among scientists and environmentalists what the main causes are. Global warming isn t a new
issue, in only 1989 the UK Prime Minister at the time warns that the increasing emissions of carbon
dioxideinto the atmosphereare going to have a significant impact on the earthin the future (BBC
News, 2013). The warming of the earth is caused by greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide that
trap long wave radiation in the atmosphere. This warming of the earth surface is referred to as the
greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases are the gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water
vapour which accumulate in the atmospheric layers prevent heat being radiated from the earth to
escape. Without greenhouse gases the earth would be considerably cooler but with increased human
activities, temperatures are rising to an unstable level (Arbogast, 2011).
Since the peak of the industrial revolution in 1800, the composition of the atmosphere has changed
significantly and continues to change with increasing advanced technology. Human populations
have also greatly increased, with the planet only being home to 700 million people, but due to
industrial developments the population size increased substantially to 1 billion in a very short
amount of time. Prior to 1800 everything was done by hand,

Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart. I agree with Anne. In my opinion,

Rhino Robotics Corporation Pros And Cons
The walls of the Rhino Robotics Corporation had been secure for decades; erosion stripped the
metallic shine of the structure from when the building was made decades ago. Its titanium doors
began to bend and bow, however, the inside was in pristine condition. Six different sections had
been used to create and manufacture machines for the War, every worker and every android had
been influenced by one man: Mr. Jonathan Edwards. Years have passed ever since he inherited
the facility shortly after the passing of his late father. He swore to the man on his deathbed that
this facility will lead this family to great wealth and power. From there on, Edwards began to
risk more and more, putting all of his finances into the failing corporation, until at last
exponential growth was acquired and began to skyrocket. Machine upgrades were long due
during the renovation of the factory itself, yet the popularity of the industry was spreading like a
disease. As the company s name and reputation infected every state in every country, more
profits began to flood the main factory. Scientists were being hired, and a series of experiments
occurred within the closed chrome doors, a secret to the wandering eyes of the public suffering
in the War. In a large storage tube located in the middle of an incubation chamber, a female was
waking up. Her body was depleted of the electronics that helped her survive, most of her skeleton
was once broken into pieces. Her arms and torso were mangled, and her legs were nearly gone.
With the rise of stem cell research, the subject s injuries have been progressively healing, leaving
scars where chunks were missing. Her long, synthetic, blue hair had to be cut in order to reach
other sections without fatal risk. Floating in an embryonic like fluid inside of the tube, the woman
had been incubating for months in an attempt to restore her life. A large headphone jack sent
information to a computer from the motherboard embedded in her brain. This computer was
supposed to be monitored by multiple scientists that had been assigned to collect data. However,
due to lack of activity, the team of scientists resorted to small desk games and sleeping to relieve
the boredom. Suddenly the woman opened her eyes,

Analysis Of The Poem Maus My Father Bleed History Essay
The curiosity of Artie about Vladek saying that Anja was not pretty, during the fight between
Vladek and Lucia, incites Artie to interrupt Vladek s story of the past. The interruptions that Art
Spiegelman writes into his comic, Maus My Father Bleed History, breaks up Vladek s story about
surviving the Holocaust, which is what happens in the scene with Vladek and Lucia s fight.
Spiegelman uses the interruptions of Vladek s story to lead out of it and then back into Mausto
assist in clarifying information for the reader, to show the father son relationship between Artie and
Vladek, and also to explain how Maus was written.
The incidents that Spiegelman uses within his panels and text work as a way to give insight into
how Artie and Vladek s father son relationship works. A case in which Artie and Vladek s
relationship is shown is right after Vladek tells Artie the story about Lucia and he says, But this is
what I just told you about Lucia and so I don t want you should write this in your book
(Spiegelman 23). To help interrupt Vladek s story Spiegelman makes the panel in which this
dialogue takes place have no border around it, which gives the panel a sense of breaking up the
story that Vladek was telling to Artie. Vladek interrupting his story shows that while he felt this was
important information for Artie to know, he does not want it in the comic. Thus this story being in
the comic along with Artie s reaction in the comic show the reader the differing views and the

In addition to the competition between the two firms addressed, fierce competition exists from
other oil and gas producers, particularly ExxonMobil, the number one producer of natural gas in the
United States.

Preventing waste is the most effective way to a greener and cleaner environment as it reduces or
eliminates the existence of waste right from the source. Waste management is already a huge issue
in our world and if we approach waste management with prevention we would leave no

Catalysts are a great example of source reductions because they provide energy in a reaction
without changing the process. By lowering the temperature of the reaction and altering the pressure
used they reduce energy. Ideally, they can be used indefinitely meaning that no product is going to
waste, this means that our environment and health would be benefited greatly due to the absence
of waste. Unlike stoichiometric reagents, catalysts do not generate waste, give more control on
reaction such as reducing unwanted side products and can carry out a reaction more than once,
increasing efficiency of product.. Also they can be used in small amounts to speed up reaction
processes, so other forms of energy would not be needed such as fossil

The Power Of Language
The Power of Language
Language is often defined as a system of communication, a way for humans to interact with one
another. Language itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show
love or hate, and could give meaning. For example an object has no identification unless the
power of language is wielded to provide it a name based on its ability and function. Language
often has a great influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures of the
Hebrews and the Greeks which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The
Metamorphoses , two pieces of literature that explains the creation of man from different ways
of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and
Christianity and is the most well known text of this culture. It is also believed to be the very first
book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story taken from what is called Greek Mythology
, where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of them holding power over different things.
Both texts use the power of language in different ways to express emotion and bring things to life.
Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. Objects
usually appear before words. Things are usually seen first, then they are named, described, and
given a meaning. However that does not seem to be the case in the Book of Genesis. In Genesis,
God spoke the world into existence. Before

boredom is tied to loneliness in her description of her life in Africa. In spite of this she confesses
that Night flying over charted country by aid of instruments and radio guidance can still be a
lonely business, but to fly in unbroken darkness without even the cold companionship of a pair
of earphones or the knowledge that somewhere ahead are lights and life and a well marked

Historiography of the Reconstruction Era
Riham Elshazli Professor Clement Price Civil War and the Reconstruction 12/11/12
Historiography of the Reconstruction Era At a time when America was trying to piece itself back
together, the Reconstruction Era is one of the most important chapters in history. It is also,
however, one of the most debated. After the Civil War, the South was devastated and thousands of
freed slaves needed to be integrated into society. When Andrew Johnson took office, he was
moderate in his views as to what should happen to restore order to the United States. However,
some Republicans had other plans in mind. They wanted to impose harsher terms and used
Congress to do so, justly giving them the name Radical Republicans. Opinions about this time

Dunning s work popularized derogatory terms such as carpetbagger and scalawag. Soon, his
academic view of Reconstruction became the widespread view held by everyone around the
country as movies such as Birth of a Nation and Gone with the Wind became popular. These
movies portrayed Reconstruction as an era of tragic exploitation of the South by the North. They
depicted blacks as being ignorant and pathetic savages, upholding the picture that Dunning first
painted. In short, Dunning s theory had a massive impact on the way the average citizen viewed
black people and offered an excuse to continue to deny them their rights for years to come. It wasn t
until the 1930s when some historians, such as Vann C. Woodward, began to significantly challenge
Dunning s traditional view of Reconstruction. During 1910, there an attempt by W.E.B. Du Bois to
counter his opinion but the attempt did not hold. In Black Reconstruction in America, Du Bois
argues that the corruption spoken about was highly exaggerated and that Dunning overlooked
many of Reconstruction s achievements. Historians disregarded what Du Bois had to say because
his use of the Marxist theory and because he was seen as a radical at the time. It was not until 20
years later when other historians, known as revisionists, began to echo Du Bois arguments. While
these revisionists still saw Reconstruction as a failure, they disagreed with Dunning

Lease Accounting Research and the G4+1 Proposal
Robert C. Lipe
Robert C. Lipe is an Associate Professor at the University of Oklahoma.
INTRODUCTION
The Group of Four Plus One, or G4+1 for short, is a cooperative effort by national accounting
standard setters from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States
plus the International Accounting Standards Committee.
Conclusions reached by the G4+1 are not recognized as GAAP in any financial reporting
jurisdiction. However, by the very nature of its membership, its conclusions influence standard
setting in many jurisdictions. Thus, publication ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Lessee Accounting Research: An Analysis of Three Decision Contexts
The members of G4+1 agree that the purpose of financial reporting is to provide information for
making economic decisions. Empirical research incorporates this view by identifying and
estimating linkages between accounting information and actions taken by decision makers. In my
discussion of research on lessee accounting, I decompose the research into three decision contexts
financial statement analysis of equity risk, financial statement analysis of equity value, and
decisions/actions by management.
Research Related to the Risk of the Lessee s Equity
Most empirical research on lessee accounting is based on financial statement analysis as the
decision context, with particular emphasis on how unrecorded lease commitments might affect
assessments of shareholder risk. Possible reasons for this emphasis are: 1. finance theory links debt
like obligations to risk;
2. unrecorded leases are large for some companies;
3
and
3. mandated disclosures facilitate estimation of the unrecorded obligations.
4
The finance literature linking shareholder risk to leverage includes Modigliani and
Miller (1958), Hamada (1969), Rubenstein (1973), Bowman (1979), and Christie (1982).

Prior to SFAS No. 13, guidance came from APB No. 5 (Accounting Principles Board 1964), ASR
No. 147
(SEC 1973), and APB 31 (APB 1973). In addition, SFAS No.

The United States And Australia
The United States and Australia are both industrialized countries with both English speaking
populations with challenges of providing health care coverage. Differences and similarities can be
found in both countries with regards to the health care system. Both have government programs
such as Medicare that is designed for the population in different circumstances, and both populations
use private insurance. With the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, the United Statesis
attempting to cover a large population of those needing health insuranceyet in Australia Medicare
system covers a larger portion of its population. With the cost continuing to rise along with spending
for health care is dramatically different. The money... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Medicare, Australia s national public health insurance, provides universal health coverage for
citizens and permanent residents in addition to people with temporary visas from countries with
which Australia has reciprocal arrangements. Medicare covers inpatient care in public hospitals
for free or subsidized access to comprehensive medical services (Mossialos et al., 2015). Citizens
may choose to buy private insurance to cover more health care options and to cover items not
covered under Medicare for example ambulance services. Medicare gives Australian residents
access to health care and is partly funded by taxpayers who pay a Medicare levy of 2.0% of their
taxable income (Ato, n.d.). The first contact with health services one may need would involve a
visit to a general practitioner, who may refer the patient to a specialist, diagnostic testing,
medication for the need to in a public hospital. Australia s health care system involves public and
private providers. The government funds the public hospitals, whereas those in the private sector
operate the private hospitals. As of June 2014 over 47% of the population had private health
insurance (PHIAC, 2014). The public perception of the Australian medical system is generally
positive and strongly favors a universal public health system funded by the public (Hardie
Critchley, 2008). In the United States the passing of the Affordable Care Act of 2010, established the

A Study On The Hydrophobic Anchor Which Holds The...
The hydrophobic anchor which holds the Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of gram negative bacteria in
the outer leaflet of the outer membrane is Lipid A. This component is produced within the bacterial
cell cytoplasm through the Lpx biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is then transported to the
outer membrane (OM) via the Lpt biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is highly conserved,
essential for virulence and bacterial viability. These qualities make it an attractive drug target which
could aid in the development of inhibitors of gram negative bacteria. A recent study of the Lpx
pathway has resulted in the identification of a key potential rate limiting enzyme (reference). That
enzyme is tetraacyldisaccharide 1 phosphate 4 kinase... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

INTRODUCTION
Antibiotics are developed for the treatment of bacterial infections due to their effective clinical
properties (Appendix Fig. 2). They are extensively utilized for the inhibition of bacterial; DNA,
RNA, proteins and cell wall synthesis (reference). However, the efficiency of treating bacterial
infections has vastly deteriorated because of the ongoing emergence of multi drug resistant
pathogens (Appendix Fig. 3 Table 1 8) (reference). The prolonged use and misuse of antibiotics
have resulted in the evolution of bacteria attaining mechanisms which, prevent antibiotics from
binding to their molecular targets (Appendix Fig. 4) (reference). Additionally, antibiotic resistance
occurs in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria. An important aspect of antimicrobial
resistance has been shown to be the presence of LPS in most gram negative bacteria (reference).
The negatively charged highly polar LPS symbolises a tenacious barrier which reduces
permeability. This barrier protects the bacterial outer membrane bilayer against hydrophobic
compounds including, the entry of antibiotics into bacterial cells (reference). There are very few
drugs which target LPS pathways. LPS signifies one of the major paramount obstacles to the
innovation of gram negative

Operating System and Network Administration Essay
The Role of Operating Systems and Network Administration in the IS Curriculum D. Robert Adams
and Carl Erickson Grand Valley State University Department of Computer Science and Information
Systems Allendale, MI 49401 USA Abstract The reliance by companies of all sizes on information
technology creates strong demand for system and network administration jobs. Information System
majors will increasingly find themselves with opportunities and responsibilities in these areas.
However, teaching operating systems and networking to information systems major presents many
challenges. We have developed a model for teaching these topics to information systems majors in

standard suggests two courses, we feel that in the context of administration, operating systems and
networking should be taught in a single course. We justify a single course by the fact that modern
operating systems are tightly coupled with networking, and that administration of a computer
system involves both operating system and networking issues. We have developed a course
consistent with the current curriculum standards, while at the same time raising the profile of the
role of IS majors in system and network administration. Our course teaches the fundamental
principles of operating systems and networks, but with a decidedly information systems slant. The
course is a marriage of traditional computer science theory with practical hands on experience.
With this paper, we hope to achieve several goals. First, we hope to raise awareness of the need for
network administration. Second, we hope to demonstrate the need for an academic course in

Statement Of IKEA Management Trainee Program
Hej,
My mentor, Erik Thun, a co worker at IKEA, made me aware of the IKEA Management Trainee
Program. Based on our discussions within the mentoring program he believes my background and
personality would be a good fit for a future position as leader at IKEA. Since I plan to finish my
Master degree in business process and supply chain management in June I believe IKEA s
management trainee program is a very interesting opportunity to develop my professional career.
One of the most important skills I improved during my master studies at Linnaeus University is to
work together in international teams. Being able to adapt to different culture has proven to be very
important and developed me in many ways. Within various student projects that were carried out in
a group, I have been able to use my leadership skills to increase the group s success.
Before I came to Sweden, I completed a Bachelor s degree in Business Information Systems with a
specialization in Application Management from Baden Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University
in Mannheim, Germany. The combination of business and technology is ... Show more content on

remember that in stressful or hectic situations I tend to analyze the situation and try to lead as

Charlie Chaplin The Gold Rush , is a silent comedic film about going after the American dream and
the hardships one must endure while trying to survive against all odds. As usual Chaplin plays his
famous character , the tramp , a dim witted under dog. He is a lone prospector who falls in love
with a dance hall girl. Chaplin effectively used mise en scene for cinematic communication in
server scenes in this film. In this film, viewers see hardship through the perspective of disillusion
and starved gold hunters that travel to Alaska in search of riches . Chaplin s effectively uses mise
en scene with using the right mixture actors/actresses, background sets, costumes, camera angles,
and editing styles.
When the lights fade at the theatre , the title of the film shows up on the screen. The font uses
bold characters which are outlined or shadowed to create a 3 d effect. This can be compared how
Chaplin s character lived in his whole world that was sometimes fantasy. Editing techniques such
as credits texts fading in and out , and the color and umbre of text were constantly being used in
this film. Creating smaller film dimesions then the screen it been shown on and filling it with black
background made the credits test stand out . Using an establishing shot Chaplin delivered his
prologue of an iris in

Tucked Away In A Corner Of The Oaks Mall Sits A Quiet...
Tucked away in a corner of The Oaks mall sits a quiet bookstore. Its exterior is something that
resembles stone brick with wooden trimmings. The doors are propped open in an invitation to
come in and peruse the text laden shelves and dawdle amongst countless authors. Plastered on
one of the open doors is a stark black poster advertising an open mic night on the third Friday of
every month. Large glass windows offer not only a glimpse into the bookstore, but also display a
variety of new books on white shelves. At the very top, there are a row of black lamps
illuminating the name of the bookstore. The letters sit proudly above the doors in a cool grey: The
Open Book. If you take a moment to look inside, it s a little overwhelming and... Show more content

Books new ones that remain to be sorted, you guess tower precariously on either side of the
counter, and above the register is the name of the bookstore in an olive green. Surrounding it are
small, framed chalkboards. They advertise things like story time on Sundays and a book club in
intricate handwriting. Everything has a nostalgic tinge to it. From wooden bookshelves to
chalkboard handwriting, the Open Book seems to be a space removed from the digital age of
Kindles and fancy computer search systems. Even the store dГ©cor is reminiscent of a simpler
time, with hand lettering painted on the walls and framed artwork from past art competitions
the bookstore has held. But of course, the first thing that will catch your eye if you enter is the
word Vintage painted black in a neat, serif font along what seems to be the back wall. Curiously,
you may approach this wall first, and without fault it is one of the bookstore s proudest walls.
The shelves here are lined with books that look like they fell out of a library scene in a
Hollywood movie. A little dusty, and a little worn, these books boast of their history. Many of
the texts are bound in a deep red or navy blue, labeled in gold lettering and arranged by color.
This wall alone may be the most picturesque in the entire store. Perhaps you ll open a book, just to
take a look.

Abstract The JPEG 2000 image compression standard is designed for a broad range of data
compression applications. The Discrete WaveletTransformation (DWT) is central to the signal
analysis and is important in JPEG 2000 and is quite susceptible to computer induced errors.
However, advancements in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) provide a new vital
option for the efficient implementation of DSP algorithms. The main goal of project is to design
multiplier less and high speed digital filters to design DWT. The convolution and lifting based
approach posses hardware complexity due to multiplier and long critical paths. The Distributed
arithmetic architecture is implemented to achieve multiplier less computation in DWT filtering,
it is based on Look up table approach, which may lead to a reduction of power consumption and
the hardware complexity. DA is basically a bit serial computational operation that forms an inner
product of a pair of vectors in a single direct step. To speed up the process the parallel DA is
implemented. In the parallel implementation, the input is applied sample by sample in a bit parallel
form.

Examples Of Inventions During The European Industrial...
Inventions during the European Industrial Revolution
There are many inventions during the European Industrial Revolution that impacts society for
Europeans. There are inventions that made other inventions better and also inventions that
revolutionized inventions that we already possessed. A man named James Kay in 1733 invented
one of the inventions called the Flying Shuttle. He built it, supposedly, with nothing more that a
pocketknife and his tool. The flying shuttle improved on the old hand loom. A worker pulled a
cord rope back and forth to send a small piece of canoe shaped wood, or shuttle, flying across a
wood frame through threads to weave cloth. The flying shuttle was a small improvement and was
still powered by man other than coal, wind, water. Nonetheless it began the crucial process by
which unskilled workers could produce more cloth with machines that skilled workers could
produce by hand. This invention in my opinion made a big impact to the European Industrial
Revolution. I think just about all of these inventions are very good for society, and changed the
world as we know it today.
Starting in the 1760s, the spinning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Steam Engine was the energy behind the most advanced textile inventions, such as the
spinning mule and the power loom. It symbolized the transition from human power in homes to
machine power in factories. The steam engine was originally invented in England to pull water
out of coal mines. For thousands of years, wood from local forests had been the main fuel in
England, as well as the main material for shipbuilding and housing construction. By the end of the
seventeenth century few forests remained. By the early seventeen hundreds, the easy to open coal
pits were gone, and mine shafts as deep as two hundred feet were dug to find it. Finally, in 1708,
Thomas Newcomen invented a simple engine that used steam to pump water out of

Giambologn Art Analysis
Our first piece of art, on the left, is titled Rape of a Sabine by Giambologna in 1583. This is a
three dimensional sculpture that has many curves and points of view. You can circle around this
sculpture and find aspects of it you couldn t visualize at one point. The faces of the sculptured
men and woman have a look of despair, sorrow, and misery that create for a very dramatic piece.
Rape of the Sabine tells a story of roman men seizing Sabine women to marry them in order for
the city of Rome to grow and become more powerful than it was. Our second artwork it named
Nude Descending a Staircase by Marcel Duchamp in 1912. This style of work is called Futurism

  • 2. Analysis Of Beauty When The Dancer Is The Self An unknown author from thethingswesay.com once said, Beauty is the opposite of perfection it s about confidence, charisma and character. For many people, women especially, this concept seems unrealistic. In the autobiography Beauty: When the dancer is the self by Alice Walker, she identifies with this perception of life and applies it to the societal views of beauty. Through her autobiography, she sets the stage by explaining her childhood, beginning with her sassy and independent nature as a two and a half year old. Proceeding several years later, she describes her pain from being shot in the eye by her brother and the cover up that altered their relationship. Next came the feelings of diffidence and timidity from the accident, that led to her physical and mental decline. Finally, the acceptance of past events, followed by, the ability to see the world in her eye (Walker 40) enables Walker to value herself and spread the message of self acceptance. Using the pain felt from that shot, both mental and physical, she is able to define a new chapter in her life and become an award winning novelist. By writing to a broad audience, she is able to make a greater impact as she delves into the process of taking pain and despair and transforming it into self celebration. In Walker s essay, she addresses this reoccurring theme by employing structural preferences, logical appeals and the use of imagery to cultivate a powerful message of personal growth. • 3. Tensile Testing In The World Trade Center Introduction The World Trade Center was a global icon of The United States of America. The tallest of the buildings was over 1,300 feet high (10). With such large buildings, the materials used in construction needed to meet certain standards just to successfully stand erect. The design intent has the biggest factor for the material selection. In the World Trade Centers, the materials were supposed to meet certain properties and requirements. The analysis of whether or not the World Trade Center buildings were built to requirements will be discussed. Analysis в—ЏMechanical properties в—‹Tensile testing Tensile testing is important in order to determine the strength of the beams from the world trade centers. The strength needs to be high in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Next, it was found to be true that the measured strength typically was greater than the specified strength, which indicates that the factor of safety is met (8). However, some tests have measured strengths less than the specified strength (8). Figure 1 displays the factor of safety in each region of the towers. Anything with a R value less than 1, had a yield strength less than the specified requirements. Due to this, the part is not classified as defective, but is a form of quality control (8). This is important because each area of the building needed to be inspected to ensure that there were no specific regions of failure. The parts of lower strengths have been analyzed and it has been determined that they had no contribution to the failure of the buildings (8). The factors of safety were generally met. Figure 1: R measurement versus specified yield strength (8) в—‹Ductility Having a ductile fracture rather than a brittle fracture is important. A ductile fracture is able to absorb more energy than a brittle fracture can (8). Figure 2 shows the relationship between brittle and ductile metals and their fracture points in a stress/strain diagram. A brittle fracture can withstand more stress, but only when lower strains are applied. A ductile fracture can withstand less stress, but can withstand more strain. This will be beneficial so that everyone can provide an overview of his or her day. The objectives that will be achieved by the project includes identifying the main challenges facing the retirees and the ways of dealing with them, appreciating the usefulness of pension incomes, assessing the performance of pension incomes, and identifying the benefits of including the retirees in various pension schemes available in the country. This is because many policies have been drafted to assist retirees. However, only a few of them have been implemented in the nation. Discussing crucial matters leads to the... The objective of the session was to find out the different ways in which the retirees who had received pensions spent their income and how those who engage in other activities of earning extra income spend their finances. The goal was establish whether or not their incomes were sufficient enough and what could be done to help them generate more income if their funds did not satisfy their needs. Retirees always utilize their pension to cater for their bills (Kerr, and Armstrong Stassen, 2011). Among the members there were spendthrifts, and some were well equipped with ways of managing their little incomes. Everyone had an opportunity of explaining what he/she bought during the day and the importance of purchasing the item. Everyone has a reason for purchasing every item, despite the fact that others found the items unnecessary (Herero, and Extremera, 2010). People have different preferences and tastes. Thus, they tend to buy different things. I guided them through establishing a list of the most important household items. I found that some of them did not spend their money wisely and that this list would help simplify their needs. According to their replies, I noticed that most of them spent their income on dietary menus. They are very concerned with what they eat. This is a good aspect, as it ensures that they remain in good shape. A number of them spent their income on luxurious activities, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Working Together in Robert Frost s Mending Wall Essay Working Together in Robert Frost s Mending Wall The air is cool and crisp. Roosters can be heard welcoming the sun to a new day and a woman is seen, wearing a clean colorful wrap about her body and head, her shadow casting a lone silhouette on the stone wall. The woman leans over to slide a piece of paper into one of the cracks, hoping her prayer will be heard in this city of Jerusalem. Millions are inserting their prayers into the walls of Japanese temples, while an inmate in one of a hundred prisons across the United States looks past his wall toward the prayers he did not keep. Billions fall asleep each night surrounded by four walls and thousands travel to China to witness the grandest one of all. Who builds walls and who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He blames it upon the cold ravages of a winter swell and the indifferent attitude of hunters searching out a hare. By leaving the question a mystery the speaker is able to entertain himself with fantasies of elves and ideas of fiction, to fill a winter s long mind made mischievious by the spring season (Lentricchia 105). In defense of why a wall should be maintained the farmer merely states his father s saying, Good fences make good neighbors (Frost 28). The farmer does not have any real proof of why the wall should be put back each spring, when there is no threat of livestock crossing the borders. When questioned a second time he gave the same answer and again without giving the reason why fences make good neighbors. Family tradition and work ethic seem to be this farmer s motivation. He seeks to get the wall completed where the speaker appears more entertained by the activity (Barry 145). The farmer s mechanical repair of the fence is imagined in the eyes of the speaker as an old stone savage armed (Stanford 40). Before attitudes can be discussed first the poem s moral must be decided. Mending Wall does not take the approach of right and wrong, rather it shows two perspectives. There is the speaker who seeks a release from the dull ritual of work each spring and the farmer, who is trapped by work and the New England past (Lentricchia 106). Two ... However, this does not apply to dry berries. Both dry and wet berries go through the separation process with a capacity of 1200 bbls/hr. Since 70% of the berries are wet, the capacity for separation is recalculated as Separation capacity for wet berries = 70% of 1200 bbls/hr = 840 bbls/hr Separation capacity for dry berries = 30% of 1200 bbls/hr = 360 bbls/hr Since the output from the dryer unit for wet ... • 9. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change According to the reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the people have to cut about 90% of the use of fossil fuels worldwide to have a slim chance of stopping Global Warming. If the people have anything less than the percentage given, Global Warming will not stop. As of now Global Warming is a big issue throughout the world. Some say Global Warming is just a myth to scare people and it s just a natural cause, but there is proof that Global Warming is a fact and that the main cause of Global Warming is anthropogenic causes or man made. Man has overused the burning of fossil fuels throughout generations and the numbers of burning fossil fuels keeps getting higher every year. The increase of temperatures, sea levels, and carbon dioxidein the last century shows evidence that Global Warming is occurring and man is the main problem. First of all, what is global warming? Global warming is the increase of Earth s temperature due to carbon dioxide emissions from burning fossil fuels also known as greenhouse gases (Global Warming). The carbon dioxide traps heat which would make the temperature to rise, this is known as the greenhouse effect. The main causes of global warming would have to be carbon dioxide and air pollution that is going around the atmosphere, trapping the sun s heat which causes the earth to warm up. Human activity has been a key factor to that. The burning of fossil fuels causes a lot more greenhouse gases to be trapped in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today we will be discussing a very important inventor, who was known for the creation of the gas mask and the traffic signal, Mr. Garrett Augustus Morgan. Before we begin, here are the two main sources that I used in researching for this video. And now we will begin. Morgan was born in Kentucky in 1877, the same year that Reconstruction would end in the south. His father was a former confederate colonel named John Hunt Morgan and his mother was half Native American and half African American. Despite his sixth grade education, Morgan was blessed with the mind of a true inventor, as well as ideas for entrepreneurship. While he worked in a textile factory, he learned the... He wanted his invention to be used to tell cars when they could go, and when pedestrians could walk across the street. This invention was recognized by General Electric, and led to the company buying Morgan s patent in 1923. Morgan s safety hood received praise and was used by many in the Northern states across hundreds of cities. The hood was even sold to the United States Army and Navy, who would use this invention during the First World War. Despite success in the North, the southern states proved to be more difficult. Though his invention received praise in the press in the year of 1916, Morgan was taken out of the story, and there was only mention of the other men who went to save the men in the tunnel. After this occurred it would take many years until Cleveland and the rest of the United States would fully recognize Morgan s accomplishments. By the time of his death in 1963, he was recognized as a hero of Lake Erie and restored to his rightful place in American history. ANALYSIS ROLE OF DEBRIDEMENT IN WOUND HEALINGOF PATIENTS WITH DIABETIC FOOT ULCERS (LITERATURE REVIEW) Since the concept of wound bed preparation arose (Schultz et al, 2003), striving to achieve a wound environment that is conducive to healing has become increasingly important (Dowsett, 2002). Debridement plays a crucial role in this concept. Eliminating non viable tissue from wound bed which acts as a significant barrier to wound repair if not removed (Dowsett and Claxton, 2006). The presence of necrotic tissue in wound has known deleterious effects including sepsis and delayed healing. Debridement is therefore an essential adjuct in treatment of non healing ulcer (Anu, Emane and Morris, 2001). Debridement is the removal of devitalized or contaminated tissue within or adjacent to wound until surrounding tissue is exposed (Smith, 2002).According to International Diabetic Federation (2004), removal of dead or devitalized tissue is paramount for effective wound care of DFUs. Frykberg et al, (2006) advocate regular debridement to remove necrotic tissue and reduce burden in order to expedite wound healing. Although it is widely accepted that debridement may be necessary for optimal wound healing for DFUs, evidence from randomized trials relating to the effectiveness of its different method is lacking and method of measuring its effectiveness are poorly developed (Haycock and Chadwick, 2012). Clinical symptoms of paratuberculosis results in chronic intermittent diarrhea, fever, weight loss and remission and relapse, with unresponsiveness to antibiotics leading to progressive wasting, emaciation and death. Pathological lesions of paratuberculosis in human and animals are characterized by chronic intestinal granulomatous inflammation (Momotani et al., 2012). Live MAP bacilli has been reported in milk of woman suffering with Crohn s disease (Naser et al., 2000; 2009; Bannantine et al., 2014). Similarly baby milk powder prepared from MAP containing milk could expose children and immuno compromised people at high risk to MAP infection (Hruska et al., 2011). Its long survival (upto 250 days) and dormancy in the environment sources as soil and water pose a threat for the spread of the disease (Larsan et al., 1956; Singh et al., 2012). Widespread presence of MAP in humans and animals in India may be due to failure of currently available diagnostic reagents. Disease is most effectively identified by cultivation and isolation of MAP from feces but being expensive and having long incubation time (up to 16 weeks) and false negatives in samples that have low concentrations of MAP, this method exhibits its limitation (Collins, 1996; Garg et al., 2015). • 17. Protections Against Dumping Products When it comes to free trade agreements between member countries, there are obvious advantages like the efficiency of importing and exporting which would help advance economic growth and development. However, in spite of these gains, every country tries to protect certain industries from entering into their markets through the placement of legal restrictions like tariffs/quotas so as to reduce the threat of external competition and protect domestic employment. This is known as protectionism. Similarly, in this commentary, the economies of China and Australia are spoken about. Information in the article states that Australia is planning an anti dumping investigation due to China repeatedly dumping paper onto their markets. Thus, it can be seen how protectionism is essential in order to prevent the dumping of Chinese paper onto domestic markets. A country is said to be dumping a product if it exports its goods at a predatory price i.e. a value much lower than original production costs, somewhere below the price charged in the domestic market and is considered illegal. An anti dumping duty is a protectionist tariff imposed by the domestic government on foreign imports that it believes are priced below the fair market value. Figure1.1 shows how, as a result of China dumping paper, Australian producers are affected because customers obviously get attracted to lower prices,(Pdumping) thereby reducing sales revenue for domestic producers from l+c+g+h to g, as the demand for ... Passover In Jewish Culture Passover is, without a doubt, one of the most sacred holidays in Jewish culture, and in this reflection paper, I will take a look at the history of Passover and other important Jewish holy days, then I will go over how attaining my first Passover affected me. The holy day, know as Passover, has its origins in Exodus 12, which tells the story of how the Israelites were enslaved in Egypt by the Pharaoh who had begone to fear them, because of how fast their numbers were increasing. So, after several years of slavery and oppression, God made Himself known to a man named Moses. God instructs Moses to go tell the Pharaoh to let God s people go free. The Pharaoh of course refuses. So, God strikes the people of Egypt with ten different plagues. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this section of the paper, I would like to go over how Passover is celebrated today. Seder takes place over a meal with family and friends in the home. The chapters deal with topics that have been widely ignored or partially approached, she addresses them in a way that seeks to not only spark a conversation but ensure the conversation is uncensored and gets to the root of the issue. Of the nine chapters this book, chapter six was perhaps the most significant because it is here that we are given a firm grasp on what Ali is aiming to convey with this book. Through an analysis of this chapter it will become clear that this chapter was used to fully develop her idea of readdressing what is considered Islamic, the actions of Muslims, the way scholars justify beliefs, and issues... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A similar point is made in chapter 7 about the word muslimmun and how it can be used to refer to both men and women (Ali, 148). Furthermore, we also see Ali contesting a verse that suggests men have authority and are responsible for women but only in financial terms then when a woman supports herself the man no longer has authority or responsibility (Ali, 153). Here we see Ali furthering the idea from chapter 6 because she is displaying how women have progressed and in modern day many women are independent; therefore, its important to look back at verses like this and view them as a product of their time as Ali suggests about sunna and hadith as a whole (Ali, 128). As previously stated, Ali asks if perhaps Islamis what Muslims practice in their daily lives. However, she debunks that because Muslims lives vary and what some do contradicts the authoritative texts. In my previous analysis of how translation can be manipulated, a patriarchal undertone was present and it is also present when dealing with the subject of the daily lives of Muslims. This undertone is present throughout the book and is heightened in this chapter. Ali states that FGC (female genital circumcision) is not merely a customary practice incorrectly understood as having religious authority (Ali, 131). This is stated ... • 24. The Warming Of Global Warming Essay It is largely known that the most significant issue facing the planet today is global warming. There is no doubt it is one of the biggest environmental issues throughout time, though it is widely debated among scientists and environmentalists what the main causes are. Global warming isn t a new issue, in only 1989 the UK Prime Minister at the time warns that the increasing emissions of carbon dioxideinto the atmosphereare going to have a significant impact on the earthin the future (BBC News, 2013). The warming of the earth is caused by greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide that trap long wave radiation in the atmosphere. This warming of the earth surface is referred to as the greenhouse effect. Greenhouse gases are the gases, such as carbon dioxide, methane, and water vapour which accumulate in the atmospheric layers prevent heat being radiated from the earth to escape. Without greenhouse gases the earth would be considerably cooler but with increased human activities, temperatures are rising to an unstable level (Arbogast, 2011). Since the peak of the industrial revolution in 1800, the composition of the atmosphere has changed significantly and continues to change with increasing advanced technology. Machine upgrades were long due during the renovation of the factory itself, yet the popularity of the industry was spreading like a disease. As the company s name and reputation infected every state in every country, more profits began to flood the main factory. Analysis Of The Poem Maus My Father Bleed History Essay The curiosity of Artie about Vladek saying that Anja was not pretty, during the fight between Vladek and Lucia, incites Artie to interrupt Vladek s story of the past. The interruptions that Art Spiegelman writes into his comic, Maus My Father Bleed History, breaks up Vladek s story about surviving the Holocaust, which is what happens in the scene with Vladek and Lucia s fight. Spiegelman uses the interruptions of Vladek s story to lead out of it and then back into Mausto assist in clarifying information for the reader, to show the father son relationship between Artie and Vladek, and also to explain how Maus was written. The incidents that Spiegelman uses within his panels and text work as a way to give insight into how Artie and Vladek s father son relationship works. A case in which Artie and Vladek s relationship is shown is right after Vladek tells Artie the story about Lucia and he says, But this is what I just told you about Lucia and so I don t want you should write this in your book (Spiegelman 23). To help interrupt Vladek s story Spiegelman makes the panel in which this dialogue takes place have no border around it, which gives the panel a sense of breaking up the story that Vladek was telling to Artie. Vladek interrupting his story shows that while he felt this was important information for Artie to know, he does not want it in the comic. Language itself can hold a great amount of power. It can express one s emotion, show love or hate, and could give meaning. For example an object has no identification unless the power of language is wielded to provide it a name based on its ability and function. Language often has a great influence on culture and religion. This is shown greatly in the cultures of the Hebrews and the Greeks which are known for their famous texts Genesis and The Metamorphoses , two pieces of literature that explains the creation of man from different ways of belief. The book of Genesis from the Hebrew Bible is used in the practice of Judaism and Christianity and is the most well known text of this culture. It is also believed to be the very first book written in the Bible. The Metamorphosis is a story taken from what is called Greek Mythology , where multiple Gods are believed to exist and each of them holding power over different things. Both texts use the power of language in different ways to express emotion and bring things to life. Normally, words are used in language as communication, and a way to describe objects. In her book she juxtaposes Africa and London and then extends that juxtaposition to stand for the universal feelings of boredom and freedom. She chooses events from her job that highlight the difference between Africa and London to characterize herself as exotic and unique. She opens this excerpt by telling the story of transporting life saving oxygen to a dying old man. By choosing to reveal to us important and dangerous events from her job she reveals that she thinks of herself as adventurous, out of the box, and a hero. We know from her description of London that she abhors being bored and she suggests that boredom is tied to loneliness in her description of her life in Africa. In spite of this she confesses that Night flying over charted country by aid of instruments and radio guidance can still be a lonely business, but to fly in unbroken darkness without even the cold companionship of a pair of earphones or the knowledge that somewhere ahead are lights and life and a well marked airport is something more than just lonely. The experience of that something that is more than just lonely appears to be the thing that she dislikes most about her job but she doesn t hesitate to night fly if someone should require her assistance. She doesn t give any mind to the physical danger that is a part of flying an airplane at night instead her only concern is whether or not she will be bored. Clearly for Markham her greatest fear is not death but it is the experience of being under stimulated. It is clear from her description of her job that countless times she has gone up into that airplane anyways and faced her worst fear. In doing so Markham shows herself to be someone who is willing to sacrifice herself to help someone ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Historiography of the Reconstruction Era Riham Elshazli Professor Clement Price Civil War and the Reconstruction 12/11/12 Historiography of the Reconstruction Era At a time when America was trying to piece itself back together, the Reconstruction Era is one of the most important chapters in history. It is also, however, one of the most debated. After the Civil War, the South was devastated and thousands of freed slaves needed to be integrated into society. When Andrew Johnson took office, he was moderate in his views as to what should happen to restore order to the United States. However, some Republicans had other plans in mind. They wanted to impose harsher terms and used Congress to do so, justly giving them the name Radical Republicans. Opinions about this time period have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Dunning s work popularized derogatory terms such as carpetbagger and scalawag. Soon, his academic view of Reconstruction became the widespread view held by everyone around the country as movies such as Birth of a Nation and Gone with the Wind became popular. These movies portrayed Reconstruction as an era of tragic exploitation of the South by the North. They depicted blacks as being ignorant and pathetic savages, upholding the picture that Dunning first painted. In short, Dunning s theory had a massive impact on the way the average citizen viewed black people and offered an excuse to continue to deny them their rights for years to come. It wasn t until the 1930s when some historians, such as Vann C. Woodward, began to significantly challenge Dunning s traditional view of Reconstruction. During 1910, there an attempt by W.E.B. Du Bois to counter his opinion but the attempt did not hold. In Black Reconstruction in America, Du Bois argues that the corruption spoken about was highly exaggerated and that Dunning overlooked many of Reconstruction s achievements. Historians disregarded what Du Bois had to say because his use of the Marxist theory and because he was seen as a radical at the time. It was not until 20 years later when other historians, known as revisionists, began to echo Du Bois arguments. Lessee Accounting Research: An Analysis of Three Decision Contexts The members of G4+1 agree that the purpose of financial reporting is to provide information for making economic decisions. Empirical research incorporates this view by identifying and estimating linkages between accounting information and actions taken by decision makers. In my discussion of research on lessee accounting, I decompose the research into three decision contexts financial statement analysis of equity risk, financial statement analysis of equity value, and decisions/actions by management. Research Related to the Risk of the Lessee s Equity Most empirical research on lessee accounting is based on financial statement analysis as the decision context, with particular emphasis on how unrecorded lease commitments might affect assessments of shareholder risk. Possible reasons for this emphasis are: 1. finance theory links debt like obligations to risk; 2. unrecorded leases are large for some companies; 3 and 3. mandated disclosures facilitate estimation of the unrecorded obligations. 4 The finance literature linking shareholder risk to leverage includes Modigliani and Miller (1958), Hamada (1969), Rubenstein (1973), Bowman (1979), and Christie (1982). 5 2 Prior to SFAS No. 13, guidance came from APB No. 5 (Accounting Principles Board 1964), ASR No. 147 (SEC 1973), and APB 31 (APB 1973). Citizens may choose to buy private insurance to cover more health care options and to cover items not covered under Medicare for example ambulance services. Medicare gives Australian residents access to health care and is partly funded by taxpayers who pay a Medicare levy of 2.0% of their taxable income (Ato, n.d.). The hydrophobic anchor which holds the Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) of gram negative bacteria in the outer leaflet of the outer membrane is Lipid A. This component is produced within the bacterial cell cytoplasm through the Lpx biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is then transported to the outer membrane (OM) via the Lpt biosynthetic pathway (reference). Lipid A is highly conserved, essential for virulence and bacterial viability. These qualities make it an attractive drug target which could aid in the development of inhibitors of gram negative bacteria. A recent study of the Lpx pathway has resulted in the identification of a key potential rate limiting enzyme (reference). That enzyme is tetraacyldisaccharide 1 phosphate 4 kinase... INTRODUCTION Antibiotics are developed for the treatment of bacterial infections due to their effective clinical properties (Appendix Fig. 2). They are extensively utilized for the inhibition of bacterial; DNA, RNA, proteins and cell wall synthesis (reference). However, the efficiency of treating bacterial infections has vastly deteriorated because of the ongoing emergence of multi drug resistant pathogens (Appendix Fig. 3 Table 1 8) (reference). The prolonged use and misuse of antibiotics have resulted in the evolution of bacteria attaining mechanisms which, prevent antibiotics from binding to their molecular targets (Appendix Fig. 4) (reference). Additionally, antibiotic resistance occurs in both gram negative and gram positive bacteria. An important aspect of antimicrobial resistance has been shown to be the presence of LPS in most gram negative bacteria (reference). The negatively charged highly polar LPS symbolises a tenacious barrier which reduces permeability. This barrier protects the bacterial outer membrane bilayer against hydrophobic compounds including, the entry of antibiotics into bacterial cells (reference). As usual Chaplin plays his famous character , the tramp , a dim witted under dog. He is a lone prospector who falls in love with a dance hall girl. Chaplin effectively used mise en scene for cinematic communication in server scenes in this film. In this film, viewers see hardship through the perspective of disillusion and starved gold hunters that travel to Alaska in search of riches . Chaplin s effectively uses mise en scene with using the right mixture actors/actresses, background sets, costumes, camera angles, and editing styles. When the lights fade at the theatre , the title of the film shows up on the screen. The font uses bold characters which are outlined or shadowed to create a 3 d effect. This can be compared how Chaplin s character lived in his whole world that was sometimes fantasy. Editing techniques such as credits texts fading in and out , and the color and umbre of text were constantly being used in this film. Professor, Department of ECE, P. A. College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi. 1 karthikasprof@gmail.com 2 jaikumarkarthi@gmail.com Abstract The JPEG 2000 image compression standard is designed for a broad range of data compression applications. The Discrete WaveletTransformation (DWT) is central to the signal analysis and is important in JPEG 2000 and is quite susceptible to computer induced errors. However, advancements in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) provide a new vital option for the efficient implementation of DSP algorithms. The main goal of project is to design multiplier less and high speed digital filters to design DWT. The convolution and lifting based approach posses hardware complexity due to multiplier and long critical paths. The Distributed arithmetic architecture is implemented to achieve multiplier less computation in DWT filtering, it is based on Look up table approach, which may lead to a reduction of power consumption and the hardware complexity. DA is basically a bit serial computational operation that forms an inner product of a pair of vectors in a single direct step. To speed up the process the parallel DA is implemented. Inventions during the European Industrial Revolution There are many inventions during the European Industrial Revolution that impacts society for Europeans. There are inventions that made other inventions better and also inventions that revolutionized inventions that we already possessed. A man named James Kay in 1733 invented one of the inventions called the Flying Shuttle. He built it, supposedly, with nothing more that a pocketknife and his tool. The flying shuttle improved on the old hand loom. A worker pulled a cord rope back and forth to send a small piece of canoe shaped wood, or shuttle, flying across a wood frame through threads to weave cloth. The flying shuttle was a small improvement and was still powered by man other than coal, wind, water. Nonetheless it began the crucial process by which unskilled workers could produce more cloth with machines that skilled workers could produce by hand. This invention in my opinion made a big impact to the European Industrial Revolution. I think just about all of these inventions are very good for society, and changed the world as we know it today. By the end of the seventeenth century few forests remained. By the early seventeen hundreds, the easy to open coal pits were gone, and mine shafts as deep as two hundred feet were dug to find it.
