West with the Night is an autobiography by Beryl Markham, who is a pilot is Africa. In her book
she juxtaposes Africa and London and then extends that juxtaposition to stand for the universal
feelings of boredom and freedom. She chooses events from her job that highlight the difference
between Africa and London to characterize herself as exotic and unique. She opens this excerpt by
telling the story of transporting life saving oxygen to a dying old man. By choosing to reveal to us

Dunning s work popularized derogatory terms such as carpetbagger and scalawag. Soon, his
academic view of Reconstruction became the widespread view held by everyone around the
country as movies such as Birth of a Nation and Gone with the Wind became popular. These
movies portrayed Reconstruction as an era of tragic exploitation of the South by the North. They
depicted blacks as being ignorant and pathetic savages, upholding the picture that Dunning first
painted. In short, Dunning s theory had a massive impact on the way the average citizen viewed
black people and offered an excuse to continue to deny them their rights for years to come. It wasn t
until the 1930s when some historians, such as Vann C. Woodward, began to significantly challenge

The members of G4+1 agree that the purpose of financial reporting is to provide information for
making economic decisions. Empirical research incorporates this view by identifying and
estimating linkages between accounting information and actions taken by decision makers. In my
discussion of research on lessee accounting, I decompose the research into three decision contexts
financial statement analysis of equity risk, financial statement analysis of equity value, and
decisions/actions by management.
Research Related to the Risk of the Lessee s Equity
Most empirical research on lessee accounting is based on financial statement analysis as the
decision context, with particular emphasis on how unrecorded lease commitments might affect
assessments of shareholder risk. Possible reasons for this emphasis are: 1. finance theory links debt
like obligations to risk;
2. unrecorded leases are large for some companies;

Charlie Chaplin The Gold Rush , is a silent comedic film about going after the American dream and
the hardships one must endure while trying to survive against all odds. As usual Chaplin plays his

Tucked away in a corner of The Oaks mall sits a quiet bookstore. Its exterior is something that
resembles stone brick with wooden trimmings. The doors are propped open in an invitation to
come in and peruse the text laden shelves and dawdle amongst countless authors. Plastered on
one of the open doors is a stark black poster advertising an open mic night on the third Friday of
every month. Large glass windows offer not only a glimpse into the bookstore, but also display a

Abstract The JPEG 2000 image compression standard is designed for a broad range of data
compression applications. The Discrete WaveletTransformation (DWT) is central to the signal
analysis and is important in JPEG 2000 and is quite susceptible to computer induced errors.
However, advancements in Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) provide a new vital
option for the efficient implementation of DSP algorithms. The main goal of project is to design
multiplier less and high speed digital filters to design DWT. The convolution and lifting based
approach posses hardware complexity due to multiplier and long critical paths. The Distributed
arithmetic architecture is implemented to achieve multiplier less computation in DWT filtering,
it is based on Look up table approach, which may lead to a reduction of power consumption and
the hardware complexity. DA is basically a bit serial computational operation that forms an inner
product of a pair of vectors in a single direct step. To speed up the process the parallel DA is
implemented. In the parallel implementation, the input is applied sample by sample in a bit parallel
form.

one of the inventions called the Flying Shuttle. He built it, supposedly, with nothing more that a
pocketknife and his tool. The flying shuttle improved on the old hand loom. A worker pulled a
cord rope back and forth to send a small piece of canoe shaped wood, or shuttle, flying across a
wood frame through threads to weave cloth. The flying shuttle was a small improvement and was
still powered by man other than coal, wind, water. Nonetheless it began the crucial process by
which unskilled workers could produce more cloth with machines that skilled workers could
produce by hand. This invention in my opinion made a big impact to the European Industrial
