Major trends in e-commerce from 2010-2011 included the emergence of social e-commerce using social networks and advertising, Facebook growing to over 500 million users worldwide, and consumer packaged goods beginning to find their online market. Computing and networking prices continued to fall while the global population using the internet expanded to around 25% online. Social networks encouraged self-revelation while threatening privacy and there was explosive growth in online viewing of video and television programs.
