Emerce Retail_Stage Session_SQLI&Spryker_2022_AU (1).pdfGuido X Jansen
Here are some of the biggest challenges in establishing a successful B2B marketplace:
- Getting critical mass of buyers and sellers. It can be difficult to attract enough buyers and sellers in the early stages to make the marketplace viable and drive network effects.
- Onboarding merchants. It requires significant effort to onboard new merchants onto the platform, educate them on how to use it, and ensure a good user experience to encourage ongoing participation.
- Pricing model. Determining the right pricing model that provides value to both buyers and sellers can be challenging. Fees need to be low enough to attract participants but high enough to be profitable.
- Trust and reputation. Buyers and sellers need to trust that the other parties

Why Marketplace is Your Next Big InitiativeGuido X Jansen
Together with Marnix from SQLI I hosted a session about marketplaces for retail organizations. What are all marketplace variants? What is the difference between selling on a marketplace and becoming a marketplace? What are the latest developments and why do we think you really need to be the first mover in your industry when it comes to marketplaces...
Still A/B testing your buttons? You need to think (much) bigger...Guido X Jansen
CRO/CXO, Experiments and A/B testing have gained a lot of traction in the last years, hopefully also within your company;
When optimizing, a lot of commerce teams seem stuck experimenting with minor frontend changes like tekst, images or layout.
While still valuable to do this, you could benefit much more from the experimentation mindset when applying this to not just your frontend, but to across all aspects of your business
Guido shows you how using Packaged Business Capabilities can give your commerce team the freedom to do just that.

JDE ecomweek presentation on user validationGuido X Jansen
This document summarizes a presentation about ways for e-commerce companies to learn from their users through validation. It discusses 5 methods for user validation: getting out of the building to test ideas with real people, fake door testing to measure interest, focus groups to discuss ideas with customers, usability testing to observe user flows, and A/B testing to randomly distribute users between versions and track impacts on metrics. The presentation encourages companies to apply one validation method each week to continuously improve and lower risks, as most changes have no or negative impacts without validation. It provides further reading and contact information.

This document summarizes a presentation by Guido Jansen on cross-cultural website optimization. Jansen discusses how business is becoming more international and factors driving this trend. He then outlines challenges large companies have faced optimizing for different cultures. Jansen covers concepts from cultural researchers like Hofstede and Hall and shares findings on how conversion rates can vary across countries by time of day and day of week. He concludes with five tips for cultural web design focusing on research, testing, and acting on data to best serve local customers.
Building your optimization technology stackGuido X Jansen
When starting out with a program around optimizing the conversion rate (CRO) or - a bit broader - the customer experience (CXO), you will inevitability run into some challenges around the technology stack you’ll be using.
Let’s talk about that.
This document summarizes a presentation about how psychology is essential for marketing products and making data-driven decisions. The presentation discusses how the brain uses heuristics and is subject to cognitive biases, which marketers can leverage through controlled experiments. It also provides an overview of the skills and teams needed at different levels of a conversion optimization process, from lone specialists to distributed multi-team structures, and how to build an optimization culture.
Guido Jansen, a CXO specialist with 10 years of experience, discusses building an optimization team. He notes that people and process are crucial and that teams should start with roles like UX researcher, UI designer, and frontend developer at Level 2. As teams mature to Levels 3 to 5, they need additional roles such as data analyst, behavioral analyst, and team managers. Jansen emphasizes empowering self-sufficiency through training and establishing an executive sponsor to support the full optimization cycle.
Guido Jansen discusses creating an optimization culture at companies. He notes that optimization efforts cannot be done centralized and need buy-in across distributed teams to connect insights. Building trust around data and experimentation is important. While some clients lack an experimental DNA and see online as just lead-gen, others have scale, data science teams, and management buy-in that can enable success. Jansen advocates moving from terms like CRO and A/B testing to focus on idea validation, business growth, and innovation. Onboarding people outside digital teams is also important for the culture.
Optimization culture - Conversion Elite London 2018Guido X Jansen
Guido Jansen discusses creating an optimization culture at Randstad, a global staffing firm. He outlines both challenges, like independent operating countries and limited local resources, and opportunities, like management buy-in and mature analytics teams. Jansen advocates getting top management buy-in, involving teams, and establishing a culture of continual experimentation and improvement. The goal is for all major countries to have data-driven optimization teams working together and integrating with other departments.
Guido Jansen discusses building an optimization and experimentation culture within Randstad, a large staffing firm. He describes establishing centralized CRO (customer relationship optimization) teams in major countries with data specialists, psychologists, and developers. The local teams are supported by a global team and work together in an agile way using machine learning. Jansen discusses challenges in building an optimization culture like lack of data literacy and silos, and things that have worked like calculating ROI and transparent experiment workflows. Climate Impact of Software Testing at Nordic Testing DaysKari Kakkonen
My slides at Nordic Testing Days 6.6.2024
Climate impact / sustainability of software testing discussed on the talk. ICT and testing must carry their part of global responsibility to help with the climat warming. We can minimize the carbon footprint but we can also have a carbon handprint, a positive impact on the climate. Quality characteristics can be added with sustainability, and then measured continuously. Test environments can be used less, and in smaller scale and on demand. Test techniques can be used in optimizing or minimizing number of tests. Test automation can be used to speed up testing.

Removing Uninteresting Bytes in Software FuzzingAftab Hussain
Imagine a world where software fuzzing, the process of mutating bytes in test seeds to uncover hidden and erroneous program behaviors, becomes faster and more effective. A lot depends on the initial seeds, which can significantly dictate the trajectory of a fuzzing campaign, particularly in terms of how long it takes to uncover interesting behaviour in your code. We introduce DIAR, a technique designed to speedup fuzzing campaigns by pinpointing and eliminating those uninteresting bytes in the seeds. Picture this: instead of wasting valuable resources on meaningless mutations in large, bloated seeds, DIAR removes the unnecessary bytes, streamlining the entire process.
In this work, we equipped AFL, a popular fuzzer, with DIAR and examined two critical Linux libraries -- Libxml's xmllint, a tool for parsing xml documents, and Binutil's readelf, an essential debugging and security analysis command-line tool used to display detailed information about ELF (Executable and Linkable Format). Our preliminary results show that AFL+DIAR does not only discover new paths more quickly but also achieves higher coverage overall. This work thus showcases how starting with lean and optimized seeds can lead to faster, more comprehensive fuzzing campaigns -- and DIAR helps you find such seeds.
