2. This is our final magazine. To begin with, we used real
media texts for inspiration so that we could make our
final product look professional. We followed the
common convention of a basic colour scheme and ours
includes the colours red, white and yellow.
We used the colour yellow for the main
cover lines and the ones we wanted to
stand out compared to the rest of the
text.
We also followed the common
convention of mentioning existing
or future films.
We added a rhetorical question on our
magazine to attract the audience and make
them want to watch the movie.
We kept the main image in the centre of the cover to make
it the main focus. We chose to keep the antagonist as the
main image to engage audiences and the fact that the
model does not have direct eye contact with the audience
creates an uneasy atmosphere and makes the audience
question the movie.
We added a graphic and some puff words that
intrigue the audience/readers.
3. Overall, our magazine front cover shows that
we have been inspired by real media texts
and have followed and developed
conventions to fit our sub-genre. I believe
we have made a successful magazine front
cover that clearly informs audiences that it
is a horror magazine and the layout has
been chosen carefully according to existing
magazines. Also, the image is really
powerful and intrigues audience as it is a
contrasting image of light and dark and has
no direct eye contact with the audience
therefore, it is eye-catching. As you can
see, we have followed our initial design to a
certain extent however, we changed the
placing and excluded the film strip idea as it
didn’t fit in and didn’t look professional.
