The document analyzes the results of a questionnaire about preferences for a music magazine. It finds that the target audience is mostly male between ages 11-20 who are willing to pay £2-3. 8. WHAT GENDER ARE YOU? From the questionnaire results we can see that there has been more male students. Therefore I have decided to base my magazine around a male dominated theme such as violence, sport and other patriarchal based activities. To back this up I would use gender stereotypical colours such as blue,red, black ext. These will be portrayed through the editorial in my magazine. This would benefit the audience as it would put them in their comfort zone and can relate to the magazine. If there are any advertisements included in the magazine then I would base them around a male target group. For example I may advertise male trainers from addidas which are worn by a famous singers. This would be ideal as the target audience look up to celebrities and want to dress, act, and talk like them therefore it would be ideal for a male figure and male related garments are advertised with in the magazine.

9. HOW OLD ARE YOU? From this question we can see that a majority of the selected participants were between the age of 11-20, this means that they are a young generation and are teenagers or young adults. From this we can target my magazine to a younger generation as that is what seems to appeal to my target audience. Furthermore. I will have to use language and pictures that express my target audience in order to relate to them. This would consist of ‘slang’ text and if I include any offers something that will relate to them such as I tunes vouchers or posters. However, I would like to attempt to target a larger audience therefore I would not want to a market segment but a mass market. Therefore I will not make it too suitable to teenagers but for adults too.

10. HOW MUCH ARE YOU WILL ING TO PAY FOR A MUSIC MAGAZINE? From the response the question people would choose to pay £2.01-£3. This is a suitable price as it covers the cost in manufacturing as well as making profit. From this we can adjust our magazine and price range it between that boundaries. This would be a good idea to do as it will be affordable as well as profitable to the consumers.

11. WHAT TYPE OF MUSIC DO YOU PREFER? The music chosen for the categories was chosen as it is most popular when it comes to regional. Also these types of music genres are leading in the music industry. However there was a ‘other’ option to those who didn’t like the choices. This means that everyone has a option that they can relate to which makes it more reliable. From the question we can see that Funkyhouse and RnB seem to be the leading response. From this we can produce a magazine that relates the to the audiences choice. Funkyhouse seems to be a gap in the market therefore would differentiate from other existing magazines. This means that this could be a option that I could go for or funkyhouse related magazine ideas or something that consists with this genre as well as RnB.

12. WOULD YOU PREFER THE MAGAZINE TO BE PICTURE HEAVY OR MORE TEXT? From this question we can see that a majority of the market prefer to use picture heavy work in comparison to text. This means that I will produce a magazine that has more picture heavy. This will also benefit my target audience as they are around the teenage and young adults age, therefore they tend to catch eye to the pictures. This means that when it comes to produces my magazine then I would concentrate on the editing of the magazine to ensure that it stands out and it’s the first thing that catches their eye once they look at the magazine. I will do this by using a professional magazine for my photos of the ‘artists’ and spend a lot of time on editing.

13. WHAT ATTRACTS YOU MOST ABOUT THE MAGAZINE? This was a open question. I have generalized the two main responses which based around information and pictures. From the pie chart we can see that most people prefers pictures as it attracts them straight into the magazine. From this we can analyze that I will have to put in a lot of work to attract my customers. I will have to come up with something new and different. I will do this by coming up with heavy editing and colour. From analyzing existing magazines they tend to keep the magazine simple and plain coloured but I would attempt to go against this but still look professional.
