Table band saw • Band saw is a saw that contains band saw blade that rides on the two wheels rotating on the same plane. • used for resawing or ripping lumber into thinner slabs. • The tooth of the band saw varies with the material to be cut and the direction of the cut. • For rip cuts and crosscuts in softwood , rip angle is between 10 and 30 degree and in hardwood is 0 degree.
- 7. Portable circular saw • It is a portable mechanical and used for cutting boards and planks . • The saw base and the blade can be adjusted to cut at various depths .
- 9. • It has the spring guard that opens automatically when cutting .
- 11. Sabre saw • used for cutting plastics sheets and polypropylene sheets in prosthetic and orthotic fields . • The blade moves both up stroke and down stroke motion .
- 13. Machine Planes • Single planers or surfacers • Used to plane or finish the surface of boards and joining. • Stock is fed through a planner by pushing it into the rotating cutter head.
- 14. • Thickness planer • Used to plane boards to precise thickness and for squaring the width and thickness of timbers.
- 15. Machine Drills • Twist drills • On standard drill, it has point tips, the lip angle . • Can give more cleaner overall cut. • Can be used in drill wood, soft metals such as aluminium , copper, brass ,plastics and composites.
- 16. • Twist drill with centring tip • It has centring tip and two cutting lips. • Twist drill with two flutes are best for drilling soft and hardwood.
- 17. • Forstner drills • Have shallow, cylindrical cutting heads, short centring tips and two cutting lips. • Can give the flat bottom holes. • Used for drilling in softwood, hardwood and plastics. • Not suitable for drilling deep holes .
- 18. • Countersinks • Have a conical shape. • Used in drilling out the end of the hole to allow flat headed screws to be seated. • Countersinks holes are in rough surface .
- 19. • Deburring tools • Have cone shaped tips. • One cuts in clockwise direction and the other in counter clockwise direction. • The finished holes are clean.
- 20. • Valve cutters • Used for cutting precise seats for the prosthetic valves.
- 21. Router / Carver • Used for shaping wood , cork and plastics / laminates. • The shaft is driven by two speeds electric motor. • Consists of interchangeable bolts .(various cutters, rasps, and arbours ) • The shaft can be locked with electromagnetic brake .
- 22. • A vacuum system is to suck away sawdusts. • An emergency stop allows immediate shut down.
