Pteridophytes are vascular plants and have leaves (known as fronds), roots and sometimes true stems, and tree ferns have full trunks. Examples include ferns, horsetails and club-mosses. Fronds in the largest species of ferns can reach some six metres in length!
Many ferns from tropical rain forests are epiphytes, which means they only grow on other plant species; their water comes from the damp air or from rainfall running down branches and tree trunks. There are also some purely aquatic ferns such as water fern or water velvet (Salvinia molesta) and mosquito ferns (Azolla species).
Pteridophytes do not have seeds or flowers either, instead they also reproduce via spores.
There are around 13,000 species of Pteridophytes.

Practical Tools for Empathy, Kindness and Assertiveness.
On the whole, we experience our greatest joys and sorrows in our relationships. Supported by both Buddhism and Western psychology, the keys to healthy relationships include empathy, compassion, and kindness. These states of mind are based on underlying states of your brain. The emerging integration of modern neuroscience and ancient contemplative wisdom offers increasingly skillful means for activating those brain states – and thus for cultivating an open and caring heart, and more fulfilling relationships.
Difficult to maintain your relationships with people who have narcissistic personality disorder.
They will often disappoint you by prioritizing their own needs, over yours, and will not apologize for doing so.
You may feel like
you are struggling to gain their attention,
walking on eggshells in order to avoid offending them or
constantly working to avoid being blamed for the negative experiences in their lives.
If so, do your best to take stock of these narcissistic traits.
Being aware of these personalities, and their subtypes may help you create better boundaries between yourself and the people who embody them.
This is a presentation on the topic, Temperament;why you act the way you do. It teaches about the types of temperament and how to identify your temperament. It will help you live peacefully with the people around you.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HEALTHCARE.pdfAnujkumaranit
Artificial intelligence (AI) refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, especially computer systems. It encompasses tasks such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, perception, and language understanding. AI technologies are revolutionizing various fields, from healthcare to finance, by enabling machines to perform tasks that typically require human intelligence.
Ethanol (CH3CH2OH), or beverage alcohol, is a two-carbon alcohol
that is rapidly distributed in the body and brain. Ethanol alters many
neurochemical systems and has rewarding and addictive properties. It
is the oldest recreational drug and likely contributes to more morbidity,
mortality, and public health costs than all illicit drugs combined. The
5th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
(DSM-5) integrates alcohol abuse and alcohol dependence into a single
disorder called alcohol use disorder (AUD), with mild, moderate,
and severe subclassifications (American Psychiatric Association, 2013).
In the DSM-5, all types of substance abuse and dependence have been
combined into a single substance use disorder (SUD) on a continuum
from mild to severe. A diagnosis of AUD requires that at least two of
the 11 DSM-5 behaviors be present within a 12-month period (mild
AUD: 2–3 criteria; moderate AUD: 4–5 criteria; severe AUD: 6–11 criteria).
The four main behavioral effects of AUD are impaired control over
drinking, negative social consequences, risky use, and altered physiological
effects (tolerance, withdrawal). This chapter presents an overview
of the prevalence and harmful consequences of AUD in the U.S.,
the systemic nature of the disease, neurocircuitry and stages of AUD,
comorbidities, fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, genetic risk factors, and
pharmacotherapies for AUD.

Explain the chemical basis and signal transduction of taste perception for each type of primary taste sensation.
Recognize different abnormalities of taste perception and their causes.
Key Topics:
Significance of Taste Sensation:
Differentiation between pleasant and harmful food
Influence on behavior
Selection of food based on metabolic needs
Receptors of Taste:
Taste buds on the tongue
Influence of sense of smell, texture of food, and pain stimulation (e.g., by pepper)
Primary and Secondary Taste Sensations:
Primary taste sensations: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter, Umami
Chemical basis and signal transduction mechanisms for each taste
Taste Threshold and Index:
Taste threshold values for Sweet (sucrose), Salty (NaCl), Sour (HCl), and Bitter (Quinine)

Flu Vaccine Alert in Bangalore Karnatakaaddon Scans
As flu season approaches, health officials in Bangalore, Karnataka, are urging residents to get their flu vaccinations. The seasonal flu, while common, can lead to severe health complications, particularly for vulnerable populations such as young children, the elderly, and those with underlying health conditions.
Dr. Vidisha Kumari, a leading epidemiologist in Bangalore, emphasizes the importance of getting vaccinated. "The flu vaccine is our best defense against the influenza virus. It not only protects individuals but also helps prevent the spread of the virus in our communities," he says.
This year, the flu season is expected to coincide with a potential increase in other respiratory illnesses. The Karnataka Health Department has launched an awareness campaign highlighting the significance of flu vaccinations. They have set up multiple vaccination centers across Bangalore, making it convenient for residents to receive their shots.
To encourage widespread vaccination, the government is also collaborating with local schools, workplaces, and community centers to facilitate vaccination drives. Special attention is being given to ensuring that the vaccine is accessible to all, including marginalized communities who may have limited access to healthcare.
Residents are reminded that the flu vaccine is safe and effective. Common side effects are mild and may include soreness at the injection site, mild fever, or muscle aches. These side effects are generally short-lived and far less severe than the flu itself.
Healthcare providers are also stressing the importance of continuing COVID-19 precautions. Wearing masks, practicing good hand hygiene, and maintaining social distancing are still crucial, especially in crowded places.
Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. Together, we can help keep Bangalore healthy and safe this flu season. For more information on vaccination centers and schedules, residents can visit the Karnataka Health Department’s official website or follow their social media pages.
Stay informed, stay safe, and get your flu shot today!
The prostate is an exocrine gland of the male mammalian reproductive system
It is a walnut-sized gland that forms part of the male reproductive system and is located in front of the rectum and just below the urinary bladder
Function is to store and secrete a clear, slightly alkaline fluid that constitutes 10-30% of the volume of the seminal fluid that along with the spermatozoa, constitutes semen
A healthy human prostate measures (4cm-vertical, by 3cm-horizontal, 2cm ant-post ).
It surrounds the urethra just below the urinary bladder. It has anterior, median, posterior and two lateral lobes
It’s work is regulated by androgens which are responsible for male sex characteristics
Generalised disease of the prostate due to hormonal derangement which leads to non malignant enlargement of the gland (increase in the number of epithelial cells and stromal tissue)to cause compression of the urethra leading to symptoms (LUTS

that he will make a mess of it. The dreaded
moment arrives: he gets on to his legs, warms
to his work, sails along in blissful self-forgetfulness,
to sit down feeling that he has
made the speech of his life. It was all joy and
fluency; he not only remembered all his
points, but made new ones as he went along.
But he will have the

A vast majority of lycopodium people have a sense of impotency inside, even though they
may appear to be confident powerful individuals. They lack faith in their own abilities.
In the home of a lycopodium child one
parent undermines the child’s
confidence & criticizes more than he
praises. This produces performance
anxiety in the child which only serves
to weaken his performance, which then
intensifies the growing sense of failure
inside
A very similar dynamic is seen in many natrum children but they become perfectionists
(unlike lyco) & believe in their abilities. Since they tend to get positive reinforcement from
their natrum parents when they excel. The natrum child senses that he is not good enough
despite his excellent performance, since his parents’ love is so conditional. The lycopodium
child ,on the other hand, feels a failure because his performance is not good enough
9. The people pleaser…the lyco child learns
early on to curry favor in order to be liked
by his peers. He will copy the phrases and
mannerisms that appear to please, give
into all sorts of demands& generally try to
be nice. Natrum children are upset when
their special friends reject them. Lyco is
upset if anybody doesn’t like him; even a
complete stranger.
Is a great opportunist, far more liable than
natrum to put personal gain before morality
He develops an easy-going nature (kent: mildness) because he is afraid of confrontation.
In extreme cases this can lead to lyco becoming a groveling sycophant. He will go out of
his way to please his friends. He usually has a good number of acquaintances ,rather than a
few close friends like natrum.
Is generally a diplomatic person. Even when he dislikes a person, he is good at disguising
it, with a mixture of nonchalance and flattery.
10. Bravado: lyco attempts to cover up anxiety by acting confidently. A strong element
is inflation. on the physical level this inflation is seen in the gaseous distension of the
abdomen & in distended veins & hemorrhoids. These are examples of physical inflation
secondary to weakness of digestion, or of vessel walls . On the psychological level bravado
is very similar, a case of inflation with nothing very substantial, secondary to a sense of
weakness.
“Natrum mur. is also a remedy which presents an outer image in compensation for an inner
weakness, but the natrum mur. inner state is one of emotional & sentimental vulnerability
rather than the sense of inadequacy felt by lycopodium.”
George vithoulkas in his essence of materia medica.
Detachment: many lyco men would rather play with boys(or girls)
than spend time being intimate (as oppose to sexual) with their
partner, since they feel uncomfortable with true intimacy. True
intimacy requires a certain amount of responsibility,& lyco is not
fond of responsibility, at least not when it involves emotional
commitment. Emotionally, lycos are ‘lightweights’ who enjoy the
closeness of a partner without great passion or intimacy. The lyco
man is warmer than the average natrum man, that is he shows his
affection more & is quiet fond of cuddles & kisses. But his love is a
gentle fondness rather than a passion. He rarely feels great depths of
emotion.
11. The opportunist: lyco is both emotionally detached & flexible. One expression of
opportunism is womanizer. Romeos who flit from one woman to another, getting out
when the going gets rough. Many lyco men are virtual gigolos, relying on their charm
with women to avoid a life of emotional & professional commitment.
The average lyco, like the average natrum is a bit of a battler. He would like to just
have an easy life, but he knows he will have to fight for it & is sensible enough to
know it’s worth the effort, & he has a sound enough brain & a way with people that will
help him get through.
Intellectual: lycos make very good scientists. A visit to any department of pure
scince or engineering will reveal a student body composed primarily of lycos. Most
have rather thin, bony physiques,& a tendency to wrinkle the brow, out of worry or
intellectual concentration. They will have hobbies that require little physical
effort, like model making or rebuilding engines. Socially they tend to be
conformists rather than individualistic, due to the desire to fit in ,& hence be
popular.
Can gradually acquire the skills & the self-confidence that is needed to exercise authority
over large number of people. Makes a pleasant boss, who is reasonable & understanding, &
enjoys a certain amount of friendliness with his staff. Natrum bosses are also often like this.
It is the vulnerability within these two which makes them humane & approachable when in
positions of authority.
