HABIT AND HABITAT
 Found in Scandinavia, Denmark,
Germany, France, Russia .
 First cultivated in England in 1731 by
Mr. Miller.
 Stem is 1.5 meters high and is simple,
erect and rounded.
 Leaves are feather like, bipinnatifid
with linear segments.
 Flowers are numerous, bell-shaped
colour vary from dark violet to light
blue, appearing from March to May.
 Root is thick and short and sends of
several strong fibers.
 The whole plant is covered with silky
hairs.
DOCTRINE OF SIGNATURE
 As the plant grows in deserts, patient has a dry mouth.
 As the plant needs less water to grow, patient is thirst less.
 As the flowers of the plant are drooping downwards, patient is very
shy.
 As the flowers are so delicate that they change their direction by a draft
of wind, changeability of signs & symptoms is marked.
 As the flowers are always present in groups, patient likes to be in a
group (likes company) dose not want to be alone.
 As the stem of the plant is delicate & is covered by small hair like
structures to protect it from the wind, in the chilly phase, the patient
likes to go into the open air by covering himself.
"Fragmenta de viribus medicamentorum positivis sive in
sano corpore humano observatis" which is the first
pharmacographic work of Dr Samuel Hahnemann
written in Latin.

CONSTITUTION
Physical Make up:
ladies who are fair and beautiful-looking but
inclined to be fleshy with fine hair and blue eyes,
soft and lax muscles, anaemic and chlorotic with
pale face at puberty.
Pulsatilla patient can be compared to the race
of Sheep; as Antim Crud to Swine and
Arsenic to Race OF Horse.
Temperament: Tearful ,slow, phlegmatic and
indecisive.
SHE IS THE MOST INNOCENT OF THE
CONSTITUTION TYPES.

Aversion to marriage: is the strong symptom.
Imagines the company of the opposite sex a
dangerous thing to cultivate, and that it is
dangerous to do certain things well established in
society as good for the human race.
Dr kent says “A man takes it into his head that it
is an evil thing to have sexual intercouse with
his wife and abstains from it.”
RELIGIOUS FREAKS- An especial tendency to dwell on
religious notions;
• fixed ideas concerning the scripture;
• he misuses and misapplies the scriptures to his own
detriment; religious despair, fanatical; full of notions and
whims.
• dwells on sanctification until he becomes fanatical and
insane.
• Thinks she is in a wonderfully sanctimonious state of mind,
or that she has sinned away her day of grace.
CHANGEABLENESS - The key features of the Pulsatilla
profile mirrors both this changeability and the need or
desire to be outdoors. The changeability is as unpredictable
as the wind itself.

PULSATILLA CHILD
 They tend to demand instant gratification and if they
feel deprived they will cry until demands are met with.
 Children like fuss and caress. She is simply fussy like a

 She will get jealous of anyone who takes up her
parents time, she is apt to behave petulantly.
If the pulsatilla child gets hurt, she cries whether
the hurt is emotional or physical

GUIDING SYMPTOMS
Thirstlessness - Thirstlessness often associated with
nearly all complaints.Great dryness of mouth in the
morning without thirst (Nux-mosch)
 Metastatasis - Metastasis of mumps to breasts or testicles
 Chilliness - Constant internal chilliness even in warm
room, but aversion to cover, pains are associated with
chilliness.
 Changeability of symptoms- Symptoms are always
changeable. No two chills, no two stools, no two attacks are
alike. It has an ever-changing character of symptoms.Very
well one hour, very miserable the next. Haemorrhages flow
and stop and flow again.No head or tail to the case-mixed
(E.B. NASH)
Pains-
 Drawing, tearing, erratic, pains rapidly shifting
from one part to another (Apis, Kali-bi,kalmia lat., Lac-
can, Mang- act).
 Pain comes gradually and disappears suddenly or
pain appears suddenly and goes gradually.
 Pains accompanied with constant chilliness, and
the more severe the pain the harder the chill .(with
profuse sweating, cham., with fainting hepar sulph., with
frequent micturition thija., with delirium, verat.alb)
Discharges- Thick, bland, yellowish green (kali-sulph,
Nat-sulph) discharge from mucous membranes. But
discharges such as leucorrhoea are acrid and
excoriating.
One-sidedness - One-sided complaints. One-sided
headache. One-sided sweat (bar.c.,nux.,phos., petrol.,
sulph., thuja). One sided pains.
Derangements – Especially at puberty. “NEVER BEEN
WELL SINCE THAT TIME” says the patient referring to
puberty or menarche.
 Desire- Desire for open air. So much desire that during
her delivery wants windows opened.Unable to breathe well
or is chilly in a warm room.
Sleep - Does not want to go to bed;
 first sleep restless, sound sleep when it is time to get up;
awakes languid, unrefreshed (reverse of, Nux-vom)
 sleeps with hands over head.
Dreams- Dreams of black animals, of business,
exhausting, frightful, ghosts, naked men, murder, of
misfortune and accidents.
AILMENTS FROM
Eating fatty and starchy food.
Ice- cream
Tea and coffee
Abuse of mercury, quinine, sulphur, chamomilla.
Chill from getting feet wet
Worm affection in children and indigestion.
HEAD HEADACHE
CAUSATION- from overwork, overloading the stomach, fatty diet.
LOCATION- 1.Neuralgic pains commencing in right temporal
region, with scalding lachrymation of affected side.
2.Shifting type of headache
CHARACTER-Throbbing, congestive, pressive (Bell., Bry.)
AGGRAVATION-lying and sitting quiet,from stooping,motion of
the eyes, evening.
AMELIORATION- by sitting, in morning, walking slowly
about(Ferr- met) in the morning ,by application of cold, by
external pressure or tight bandaging.(Apis, Arg-nit, Lac-defl)
Headache associated with suppressed menses, with menstrual
disorders.
EARSCatarrhal otitis.
Ottorhoea- thick yellow purulent bland
discharge, offensive odor.
External ear swollen and red.
Otalgia worse-at evening and at night.

Sensation as if something were being forced
outword.
EYES
 Conjunctivitis with PROFUSE, THICK ,YELLOW,
BLAND DISCHARGE
 BURNING AND ITCHING in the eyes
 LIDS INFLAMMED, AGGLUTINATED.
 STYES: on upper eyelids; from eating fat, greasy, rich
food or pork.
 Veins of fundus oculi are greatly enlarged.
 Opthalmia neonatorum (arg- nitr) .
 Subacute conjunctivitis with dyspepsia; worse in warm
room.
NOSE
Repeated attacks of coryza, with sneezing and stuffing of
the nose with a febrile state. There is pain on the face
through the nose.
 In the evening there is a considerable watery discharge
with sneezing. In the morning stuffing of the nose with
thick yellow greenish discharge which is bland and
offensive.
Large bloody, thick, yellow crust accumulates in the nose,
hardens down and is blown out in the morning
accompanied by thick yellow pus. There is also a loss of
smell. The patient himself feels better in open air and
worse in a warm room.
Gastro-intestinal tract
Mouth
Great dryness of mouth in the morning without
thirst(Nux- mosch). Wants it washed frequently.
Offensive odor from mouth.(Merc., aur)
Crack in middle of lower lip.(amm- carb., hepar- sulph,
nat-mur)
Tongue
•She always has a very bad taste in the mouth,
early in the morning.
•Yellow or white tongue, covered with a
tenacious mucus.
•Food ,especially bread tastes bitter.
•Much sweet saliva
•Alternations of taste, bitter, bilious, greasy,
salty, foul
Toothache
Relieved by holding cold water in the
mouth (bism., bry., caust., coffe., nat-sulph., sepia)
Worse from warm things and heat of room (bry.)
Ailments from:
 Eating fatty and rich foods-cake, pastry, after pork or
sausage;(nux vom-likes fatty rich foods and able to digest
them easily) the sight or even the thought of pork causes
disgust.
 Fruits
 Ice-cream
 Tea
 Worms in case of children
 Warm food and drink
 Eructations; taste of food remains a long time
 Pain as from subcutaneous ulceration.
 Flatulence
 Dyspepsia with great tightness after a meal; must
loosen clothing.
 “All-gone” sensation especially in tea drinkers.
 Gnawing hungry feeling.(abies c.)
 THIRSTLESSNESS with nearly all complaints.
NAUSEA
Nausea,and retchings after greasy food, with sour
eructations.
Sensation as if the food were lodged undigested above the
stomach.
Morning sickness,
VOMITING
Vomiting of food taken long before.
 vomiting of mucus.
EPIGASTRIC PAIN
 Pain in stomach an hour after eating
 Weight as from a stone (Bry.,Nux vom.), especially in
morning on awakening.
 Pulsations in the pit of the stomach.(Asaf.)
 She cannot sit a long at a time, must walk about to relieve
her pains.
 Gastrodynia, of the most violent kind, in mild tearful
women, inclined to be fleshy, with scanty menstruation;
brought on by fat, greasy food.
DIARRHOEA
Causation – fruit, cold food or drnks, ice cream.
Time - only, or usually at night.
Character of stool – watery, greenish- yellow and slimy.
NO TWO STOOLS ARE ALIKE. Very changeable.
TWO OR THREE NORMAL STOOLS DAILY.
 Dysentry; mucus and blood with chilliness.
 Haemorrhoids - “painful, protruding, blind, with
itching and stitches in anus.”
Urine
Increased desire; worse when lying down.
 Burning in orifice of urethra during after micturition.
 Involuntary micturition at night, while coughing
(caust., squil., verat) or passing flatus.
 After urinating, spasmodic pain in bladder.
Female reproductive system
MENSES
 Derangements at puberty.The first serious impairment of
health is referred to puberic age, have “never been well
since” -anaemia, chlorosis,bronchitis, phthisis.
 Amenorrhoea ( cimicif., senec., polygon.)
 Menses suppressed from getting the feet wet, nervous debility
or chlorosis.
 Tardy menses
 Too late, scanty, thick, dark ,clotted, changeable, intermittent
flow.
 Menses with intense pain and great restless and tossing about (
Mag- phos., Viber- opulus)
 Flow more during the day
 Diarrhoea during or after menses.(Amm-carb,Bov., Verat alb.)

LEUCORRHOEA
Acrid,. burning creamy .
It is milky white in colour with
swollen vulva. Cutting pain in
abdomen.
It is excoriating and corrodes the
vulva.
Pain in back, tired feeling.
 Exaggerated sexual desire; nymphomania; wild,
beside herself with sexual thoughts, uncontrollable
sexual desire.
 J.T. Kent says that he has seen Pulsatilla cure a great
many girls of 16 or 18 years.
LABOUR PAIN
o Difficult and irregular, slugish labour pain.
o During labour pain the patient wants doors and
windows open.
o Cannot bear stuffy warm room. Feels suffocated.
Dr Hughes praises pulsatilla for its spontaneous version
in case of abnormal presentation; useful in retained
placenta, postpartum haemorrhage etc.
ABORTION
Threatened abortion, the flow ceases and starts again
with increased force,
Pains spasmodic, excite suffocation and fainting; must
have fresh air.
PROLAPSE- There may be prolapse of uterus.(sepia,
helon., murex.,lil tig., podo) There is a dragging down
sensation. She cannot stand on her feet or walk around
much because of the weight and dragging down
sensation.
MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
ACUTE ORCHITIS- the testicles and spermatic cord
swollen and painful;
caused from suppressed gonorrhoea.
THICK, GREENISH- YELLOW DISCHARGE (Nat-suplh)
FROM URETHRA.
Boys Testicles - Pulsatilla is the common remedy for
enormously SWOLLEN TESTICLES FROM MUMPS
in a boy.
ACUTE PROSTATITIS
Pain and tenesmus in urinating, worse lying on back.
Respiratory system
Cough
CAUSATION- caused by irritation in pit of stomach,
by taking ice cold things, fatty and starchy food, ice-
cream or due to suppressed menses.
SENSATION- pressure and soreness upon the chest.
Smothering sensation on lying down.
CHARACTER- dry cough in evening and at night; and
loose cough in the morning.
Cough is shaking and spasmodic; in
paroxysms of two coughs.
AGGRAVATION: warmth of bed, night evening, after
every sleep, after lying down.
AMELIORATION: sitting up in bed.
CHARACTER OF SPUTA: expectoration of bland,
thick, bitter, greenish- yellow mucus.
CONCOMITANT: urine emitted with cough.(caust.)
.
 Asthma of girls from suppressed menses.
 In children from suppressed rash or in chronic catarrh of
chest.
 It is also useful in phthisis in suppurative stage in
chlorotic girls.
Back
 Kent says that in curvature of the spine
Puls. Is of great value.
 Shooting pain in the nape and back,
between shoulders; in sacrum after
sitting.
 Sensation of cold water poured down
back
Extremities Pain in limbs, shifting rapidly from one part to
another, unattended with any great swelling or redness.
 Tensive pain, letting up with a snap.
 Drawing, rheumatic pain in thighs and legs, with
constant chilliness. Greater the pain more severe is the
chill.
 Suffering worse from letting the affected limb hang
down.(vipera)
 Veins in forearms and hands swollen.
 Chronic cases, with weakness, rigidity, coldness, and
weight in the diseased tissues.
 Numbness around elbow.
 Hip joint painful.
 Knees swollen with tearing, drawing pains.
 Nervousness, intensely felt about the ankles.
 Heaviness in legs with bruised feeling.
SKIN
URTICARIA - worse nights, caused by fat rich
food. Urticaria after every exertion.
INTOLERABLE ITCHING.
Measles
Dirty dingy look. Dry, lustreless, rough hair.
Herpetic eruptions, especially on scalp and bends of joints
with itching. Worse from warmth of bed.(mercurius)
Sebaceous glands secrete excessively; oily skin
Fever
 Chilliness, even in warm room, without thirst.
 External heat is intolerable.
 Chill about 4 p.m.
 Intolerable burning heat at night with distended veins.
 Chilly with pains, in spots, worse evening.
 During apyrexia, headache, diarrhoea, loss of appetite,
nausea.
 one- sided sweat; pains during sweat.

RELATIONSHIP
COMPLEMENTARY: kali mur, lycopodium, silicea,
sulphuric acid, allium cepa, stannum.
Silicea is the chronic of Pulsatilla in nearly all
ailments.
REMEDIES THAT FOLLOW WELL: Ac nitric, Anac,
Ant-tart, Asaf., Ars.,Bell., Bry., kali mur, Lyco.,
Phos, silicea, sulph.,, kali sulph.
" One of the best remedies with which to begin the
treatment of a chronic case ( Calc., sulph.)" - H. C.
Allen. Pulsatilla grows well in soils rich in Silica.
Pulsatilla can be used in patients who are anaemic or
chlorotic, who have taken much iron, quinine and
tonics, even years before.
ANTIDOTES
Asafoetida, coffea, chamomilla, ignatia, nux vom,
stannum, sulphur.
Cyclamen- Remedy of Plant kingdom.
Situation of cyclamen is that of a women who feels
that she has done something wrong or that she
hasn’t done her duty and something bad has
occurred as a result.
She feels solely responsible for what has happened
and feels like a criminal. She cannot reveal the
crime to anyone keeps everything within her and
tries to rectify things as much as possible. She
avoids all social contact, does not talk to anyone
and feels totally alone.
RELATIONSHIPSimilarities – Cyclamen and Pulsatilla.
 Both are predominantly female remedies.
 Both are suited to blondes – pale & anaemic.
 Both are thirstless.
 Both are weepy & dislike company.

  • 2. Source Vegetable kingdom Common Name Anemone, Wind flower, Pasque flower, Pulsatilla Pratensis Family Ranunculaceae Proved By Dr Hahnemann in 1805 Duration of Action 40 Days Parts Used Entire Fresh Plant
  • 3. HABIT AND HABITAT  Found in Scandinavia, Denmark, Germany, France, Russia .  First cultivated in England in 1731 by Mr. Miller.  Stem is 1.5 meters high and is simple, erect and rounded.  Leaves are feather like, bipinnatifid with linear segments.  Flowers are numerous, bell-shaped colour vary from dark violet to light blue, appearing from March to May.  Root is thick and short and sends of several strong fibers.  The whole plant is covered with silky hairs.

DOCTRINE OF SIGNATURE  As the plant grows in deserts, patient has a dry mouth.  As the plant needs less water to grow, patient is thirst less.  As the flowers of the plant are drooping downwards, patient is very shy.  As the flowers are so delicate that they change their direction by a draft of wind, changeability of signs & symptoms is marked.  As the flowers are always present in groups, patient likes to be in a group (likes company) dose not want to be alone.  As the stem of the plant is delicate & is covered by small hair like structures to protect it from the wind, in the chilly phase, the patient likes to go into the open air by covering himself.
  • 5. "Fragmenta de viribus medicamentorum positivis sive in sano corpore humano observatis" which is the first pharmacographic work of Dr Samuel Hahnemann written in Latin. Dr. Hahnemann recorded maximum symptoms in Pulsatilla (280)

CONSTITUTION Physical Make up: ladies who are fair and beautiful-looking but inclined to be fleshy with fine hair and blue eyes, soft and lax muscles, anaemic and chlorotic with pale face at puberty. Pulsatilla patient can be compared to the race of Sheep; as Antim Crud to Swine and Arsenic to Race OF Horse. Temperament: Tearful ,slow, phlegmatic and indecisive.

  • 12. Imaginative- Imagines that certain articles of diet are not good for the human race. Imagines that milk is not good to drink, so they will not take it. Fears : in evening, to be alone, of darkness, of ghosts.
  • 13. WEEPING TENDENCY- tearful blondes .Tearful, plethoric, and generally has little credit for being sick from her appearances(kent). • Weeps easily(Boericke, kent). • Almost impossible to detail her ailments without weeping(weeps when thanked, Lyco) (H.C.Allen). • Melancholic, sadness, weeping, despair,. • WEEPING DISPOSITION (Clarke)
  • 14. Aversion to marriage: is the strong symptom. Imagines the company of the opposite sex a dangerous thing to cultivate, and that it is dangerous to do certain things well established in society as good for the human race. Dr kent says “A man takes it into his head that it is an evil thing to have sexual intercouse with his wife and abstains from it.”
  • 15. RELIGIOUS FREAKS- An especial tendency to dwell on religious notions; • fixed ideas concerning the scripture; • he misuses and misapplies the scriptures to his own detriment; religious despair, fanatical; full of notions and whims. • dwells on sanctification until he becomes fanatical and insane. • Thinks she is in a wonderfully sanctimonious state of mind, or that she has sinned away her day of grace.
  • 16. CHANGEABLENESS - The key features of the Pulsatilla profile mirrors both this changeability and the need or desire to be outdoors.   • 17. TIMID AND EMOTIONAL- Timid, irresolute. with a tendency to INWARD (J.H.CLARKE). • GRIEF and SILENT PEEVISHNESS • Likes sympathy • Easily discouraged. Emotionally easily arousable. SLOWNESS- Slow and gentle motion is characteristic.  Adapted for SLOW and PHLEGMATIC temperaments.(J.H.CLARKE)

Very irritable, touchy, feels slighted or fears slight  She is remarkably Irritable, not in the sense of pugnacity, but easily irritated, extremely touchy, always Slighted ; sensible to every social influence.   • 19. P – Phlegmatic temperament. U – Unnatural Brooding. L – Lachrymal ( least affair throws her off the balance ) S – Silent Peevishness. A – Amelioration from consolation. T – Timid, Taciturn. I – Indecisive. L – Like April Day, Changeable mood. L – Low-spirited – fears. A – Amiable.

  • 22. PULSATILLA CHILD  They tend to demand instant gratification and if they feel deprived they will cry until demands are met with.  Children like fuss and caress. She is simply fussy like a spoilt child – DR WILLIAM BOERICKE.  She will get jealous of anyone who takes up her parents time, she is apt to behave petulantly.

  • 28. Puls Puberty – resistance to psychological maturation acquires host of unexplained little aches & pains. reliant on parents support. In Children – resistance to growing up is manifested as fear of looking up., which causes vertigo.
  • 29. PULSATILLA MEN  Irresolute  Shyness Dr kent says “A man takes it into his head that it is an evil thing to have sexual intercouse with his wife and abstains from it.”

GUIDING SYMPTOMS Thirstlessness - Thirstlessness often associated with nearly all complaints.Great dryness of mouth in the morning without thirst (Nux-mosch)  Metastatasis - Metastasis of mumps to breasts or testicles  Chilliness - Constant internal chilliness even in warm room, but aversion to cover, pains are associated with chilliness.  Changeability of symptoms- Symptoms are always changeable. No two chills, no two stools, no two attacks are alike. It has an ever-changing character of symptoms.Very well one hour, very miserable the next. Haemorrhages flow and stop and flow again.No head or tail to the case-mixed (E.B. NASH)
  • 31. Pains-  Drawing, tearing, erratic, pains rapidly shifting from one part to another (Apis, Kali-bi,kalmia lat., Lac- can, Mang- act).  Pain comes gradually and disappears suddenly or pain appears suddenly and goes gradually.  Pains accompanied with constant chilliness, and the more severe the pain the harder the chill .(with profuse sweating, cham., with fainting hepar sulph., with frequent micturition thija., with delirium, verat.alb) Discharges- Thick, bland, yellowish green (kali-sulph, Nat-sulph) discharge from mucous membranes. But discharges such as leucorrhoea are acrid and excoriating.
  • 32. One-sidedness - One-sided complaints. One-sided headache. One-sided sweat (bar.c.,nux.,phos., petrol., sulph., thuja). One sided pains. Derangements – Especially at puberty. “NEVER BEEN WELL SINCE THAT TIME” says the patient referring to puberty or menarche.  Desire- Desire for open air. So much desire that during her delivery wants windows opened.Unable to breathe well or is chilly in a warm room.
  • 33. Sleep - Does not want to go to bed;  first sleep restless, sound sleep when it is time to get up; awakes languid, unrefreshed (reverse of, Nux-vom)  sleeps with hands over head. Dreams- Dreams of black animals, of business, exhausting, frightful, ghosts, naked men, murder, of misfortune and accidents.
  • 34. AILMENTS FROM Eating fatty and starchy food. Ice- cream Tea and coffee Abuse of mercury, quinine, sulphur, chamomilla. Chill from getting feet wet Worm affection in children and indigestion.

  • 36. HEAD HEADACHE CAUSATION- from overwork, overloading the stomach, fatty diet. LOCATION- 1.Neuralgic pains commencing in right temporal region, with scalding lachrymation of affected side. 2.Shifting type of headache CHARACTER-Throbbing, congestive, pressive (Bell., Bry.) AGGRAVATION-lying and sitting quiet,from stooping,motion of the eyes, evening. AMELIORATION- by sitting, in morning, walking slowly about(Ferr- met) in the morning ,by application of cold, by external pressure or tight bandaging.(Apis, Arg-nit, Lac-defl) Headache associated with suppressed menses, with menstrual disorders.
  • 37. EARSCatarrhal otitis. Ottorhoea- thick yellow purulent bland discharge, offensive odor. External ear swollen and red. Otalgia worse-at evening and at night. better-by walking slowly about the room Sensation as if something were being forced outword.

EYES  Conjunctivitis with PROFUSE, THICK ,YELLOW, BLAND DISCHARGE  BURNING AND ITCHING in the eyes  LIDS INFLAMMED, AGGLUTINATED.  STYES: on upper eyelids; from eating fat, greasy, rich food or pork.  Veins of fundus oculi are greatly enlarged.  Opthalmia neonatorum (arg- nitr) .  Subacute conjunctivitis with dyspepsia; worse in warm room.

  • 42. NOSE Repeated attacks of coryza, with sneezing and stuffing of the nose with a febrile state. There is pain on the face through the nose.  In the evening there is a considerable watery discharge with sneezing. In the morning stuffing of the nose with thick yellow greenish discharge which is bland and offensive. Large bloody, thick, yellow crust accumulates in the nose, hardens down and is blown out in the morning accompanied by thick yellow pus. There is also a loss of smell. The patient himself feels better in open air and worse in a warm room.
  • 43. Gastro-intestinal tract Mouth Great dryness of mouth in the morning without thirst(Nux- mosch). Wants it washed frequently. Offensive odor from mouth.(Merc., aur) Crack in middle of lower lip.(amm- carb., hepar- sulph, nat-mur)
  • 44. Tongue •She always has a very bad taste in the mouth, early in the morning. •Yellow or white tongue, covered with a tenacious mucus. •Food ,especially bread tastes bitter. •Much sweet saliva •Alternations of taste, bitter, bilious, greasy, salty, foul
  • 45. Toothache Relieved by holding cold water in the mouth (bism., bry., caust., coffe., nat-sulph., sepia) Worse from warm things and heat of room (bry.)
  • 46. Ailments from:  Eating fatty and rich foods-cake, pastry, after pork or sausage;(nux vom-likes fatty rich foods and able to digest them easily) the sight or even the thought of pork causes disgust.  Fruits  Ice-cream  Tea  Worms in case of children  Warm food and drink
  • 47.  Eructations; taste of food remains a long time  Pain as from subcutaneous ulceration.  Flatulence  Dyspepsia with great tightness after a meal; must loosen clothing.  “All-gone” sensation especially in tea drinkers.  Gnawing hungry feeling.(abies c.)  THIRSTLESSNESS with nearly all complaints.
  • 48. NAUSEA Nausea,and retchings after greasy food, with sour eructations. Sensation as if the food were lodged undigested above the stomach. Morning sickness, VOMITING Vomiting of food taken long before.  vomiting of mucus.
  • 49. EPIGASTRIC PAIN  Pain in stomach an hour after eating  Weight as from a stone (Bry.,Nux vom.), especially in morning on awakening.  Pulsations in the pit of the stomach.(Asaf.)  She cannot sit a long at a time, must walk about to relieve her pains.  Gastrodynia, of the most violent kind, in mild tearful women, inclined to be fleshy, with scanty menstruation; brought on by fat, greasy food.
  • 50. DIARRHOEA Causation – fruit, cold food or drnks, ice cream. Time - only, or usually at night. Character of stool – watery, greenish- yellow and slimy. NO TWO STOOLS ARE ALIKE. Very changeable. TWO OR THREE NORMAL STOOLS DAILY.
  • 51.  Dysentry; mucus and blood with chilliness.  Haemorrhoids - “painful, protruding, blind, with itching and stitches in anus.”
  • 52. Urine Increased desire; worse when lying down.  Burning in orifice of urethra during after micturition.  Involuntary micturition at night, while coughing (caust., squil., verat) or passing flatus.  After urinating, spasmodic pain in bladder.
  • 53. Female reproductive system MENSES  Derangements at puberty.The first serious impairment of health is referred to puberic age, have “never been well since” -anaemia, chlorosis,bronchitis, phthisis.  Amenorrhoea ( cimicif., senec., polygon.)  Menses suppressed from getting the feet wet, nervous debility or chlorosis.  Tardy menses  Too late, scanty, thick, dark ,clotted, changeable, intermittent flow.  Menses with intense pain and great restless and tossing about ( Mag- phos., Viber- opulus)  Flow more during the day  Diarrhoea during or after menses.(Amm-carb,Bov., Verat alb.)
  • 55. LEUCORRHOEA Acrid,. burning creamy . It is milky white in colour with swollen vulva. Cutting pain in abdomen. It is excoriating and corrodes the vulva. Pain in back, tired feeling.
  • 56.  Exaggerated sexual desire; nymphomania; wild, beside herself with sexual thoughts, uncontrollable sexual desire.  J.T. Kent says that he has seen Pulsatilla cure a great many girls of 16 or 18 years.
  • 57. LABOUR PAIN o Difficult and irregular, slugish labour pain. o During labour pain the patient wants doors and windows open. o Cannot bear stuffy warm room. Feels suffocated. Dr Hughes praises pulsatilla for its spontaneous version in case of abnormal presentation; useful in retained placenta, postpartum haemorrhage etc.

  • 59. ABORTION Threatened abortion, the flow ceases and starts again with increased force, Pains spasmodic, excite suffocation and fainting; must have fresh air.
  • 60. PROLAPSE- There may be prolapse of uterus.(sepia, helon., murex.,lil tig., podo) There is a dragging down sensation. She cannot stand on her feet or walk around much because of the weight and dragging down sensation.

  • 62. MALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM ACUTE ORCHITIS- the testicles and spermatic cord swollen and painful; caused from suppressed gonorrhoea. THICK, GREENISH- YELLOW DISCHARGE (Nat-suplh) FROM URETHRA. Boys Testicles - Pulsatilla is the common remedy for enormously SWOLLEN TESTICLES FROM MUMPS in a boy.
  • 63. ACUTE PROSTATITIS Pain and tenesmus in urinating, worse lying on back.
  • 64. Respiratory system Cough CAUSATION- caused by irritation in pit of stomach, by taking ice cold things, fatty and starchy food, ice- cream or due to suppressed menses. SENSATION- pressure and soreness upon the chest. Smothering sensation on lying down. CHARACTER- dry cough in evening and at night; and loose cough in the morning. Cough is shaking and spasmodic; in paroxysms of two coughs.
  • 65. AGGRAVATION: warmth of bed, night evening, after every sleep, after lying down. AMELIORATION: sitting up in bed. CHARACTER OF SPUTA: expectoration of bland, thick, bitter, greenish- yellow mucus. CONCOMITANT: urine emitted with cough.(caust.) .
  • 66.  Asthma of girls from suppressed menses.  In children from suppressed rash or in chronic catarrh of chest.  It is also useful in phthisis in suppurative stage in chlorotic girls.
  • 67. Back  Kent says that in curvature of the spine Puls. Is of great value.  Shooting pain in the nape and back, between shoulders; in sacrum after sitting.  Sensation of cold water poured down back

Extremities Pain in limbs, shifting rapidly from one part to another, unattended with any great swelling or redness.  Tensive pain, letting up with a snap.  Drawing, rheumatic pain in thighs and legs, with constant chilliness. Greater the pain more severe is the chill.  Suffering worse from letting the affected limb hang down.(vipera)
  • 69.  Veins in forearms and hands swollen.  Chronic cases, with weakness, rigidity, coldness, and weight in the diseased tissues.  Numbness around elbow.  Hip joint painful.  Knees swollen with tearing, drawing pains.  Nervousness, intensely felt about the ankles.  Heaviness in legs with bruised feeling.
  • 70. SKIN URTICARIA - worse nights, caused by fat rich food. Urticaria after every exertion. INTOLERABLE ITCHING. Measles Dirty dingy look. Dry, lustreless, rough hair. Herpetic eruptions, especially on scalp and bends of joints with itching. Worse from warmth of bed.(mercurius) Sebaceous glands secrete excessively; oily skin

Fever  Chilliness, even in warm room, without thirst.  External heat is intolerable.  Chill about 4 p.m.  Intolerable burning heat at night with distended veins.  Chilly with pains, in spots, worse evening.  During apyrexia, headache, diarrhoea, loss of appetite, nausea.  one- sided sweat; pains during sweat.
  • 72. MODALITIES AGGRAVATION  Heat (kali-mur)  Rich fat food  After eating  Towards evening  Warm room  Lying on left or on painless side  When allowing feet to hang down  During menses (Actea-rac.)
  • 73. AMELIORATION  Open air  Walking slowly about (Ferr-met)  Cold applications (kali-mur)  Cold food and drinks. Though not thirsty  Erect position  Lying on painful side (Bry.,Amm-carb,Ptelea)
