Generic Mebendazole (Lupimeb Tablets) is a deworming
medication for humans which is used for the treatment of
patients two years of age and older with gastrointestinal infections
caused by: Ancylostoma duodenale (hookworm), Ascaris
lumbricoides (roundworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm),
Necator americanus (hookworm), and Trichuris trichiura
(whipworm).
Lupimeb tablets has also been used to treat infestations due to
Strongyloides stercoralis (threadworm) and Taenia solium (large
tapeworms).

The active ingredient contained in
Lupimeb tablets is Mebendazole. Each
Lupimeb tablet contains 100 mg of
Mebendazole.

Uses of Lupimeb 100 mg tablets:
Lupimeb 100 mg tablets contain a medicine called Mebendazole.
It is one of a group of medicines called ‘anthelmintics’. Lupimeb
tablets are used to treat worm infections of the gut such as
threadworms (pinworms) and other common worm infections
(such as whipworm, roundworm, hookworm)
This medicine is for use in adults and children aged over 2 years.
Patients are advised to take Lupimeb tablets because they have
a worm infection.
Worms can infect anyone. It does not necessarily mean that your
hygiene is poor.

Recommended Dosage
For the treatment of Enterobiasis in adults and children
2 Years and older, the dose of
Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) is one tablet
(100 mg) given as a single dose.
Since reinfections by Enterobiusare known to be very
frequent, it is recommended that treatment be repeated
after two and four weeks, especially in eradication
programs.

Recommended Dosage for Adults and
Children 2 Years and Older
Trichuriasis, ascariasis, ankylostomiasis, strongyloidiasis,
taeniasis and mixed infestations: One tablet (100 mg) two
times a day in the morning and evening for three consecutive
days.
No special procedures such as fasting or purgation are
required.

Contraindications
➔Lupimeb is contraindicated in patients with a known
hypersensitivity to Mebendazole, other
benzimidazole derivatives or any component of the
tablet.
➔Administration of Lupimeb is contraindicated in
pregnancy.

Contraindications
➔Mebendazole has not been studied in children
under two years. Therefore, Lupimeb cannot be
recommended in this age group pending the results of
studies.
➔Convulsions in children, including infants below one
year of age have been reported very rarely during
post-marketing experience with Mebendazole.

Storage Instructions
Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets)
have to be stored at controlled room
temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to
77°F) with excursions permitted between
15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F).
Keep this as well as all other medicines
away from children and pets.

Warnings
Convulsions in children, including in infants below 1 year
of age, have been reported very rarely during post-
marketing experience. Because of the risk of convulsions,
Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) should not be
used particularly in children below the age of 1 year.
Mebendazole tablets have not been extensively studied
in children below the age of 2 years.

Warnings
Hematologic Effects: Neutropenia and agranulocytosis have
been reported in patients receiving mebendazole at higher
doses and for prolonged duration. Monitor blood counts in
these patients
Metronidazole and Serious Skin Reactions: Stevens-Johnson
syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) have been
reported with the concomitant use of mebendazole and
metronidazole. Avoid concomitant use of Mebendazole and
Metronidazole

Warnings
There have been reports of reversible liver function
disturbances, hepatitis, and neutropenia described in
patients who were treated with Mebendazole at standard
dosages for indicated conditions.These events, along with
glomerulonephritis and agranulocytosis, have also been
reported with dosages substantially above those
recommended and with treatment for prolonged periods
of time.

Possible Side Effects
Side effects reported in clinical trials with
Mebendazole tablets were anorexia, abdominal
pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting and
rash.

Possible Side Effects
Side effects reported during post-marketing experience with Mebendazole tablets
(Lupimeb) are included below:
Blood and the lymphatic system disorders: neutropenia, agranulocytosis
Immune system disorders: hypersensitivity including anaphylactic and anaphylactoid
reactions
Nervous system disorders: convulsions, dizziness
Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting
Hepatobiliary disorders: hepatitis,abnormal liver function tests
Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson
syndrome, exanthema, angioedema, urticaria, rash, alopecia
Renal and Urinary Disorders: glomerulonephritis (Observed in higher and prolonged doses)

Overdosage
In patients treated at dosages substantially higher than
recommendedand/or for prolonged periods of time, the following
adverse reactions have been reported rarely: alopecia, reversible
liver function disturbances, hepatitis, agranulocytosis,
neutropenia, and glomerulonephritis. With the exception of
agranulocytosis and glomerulonephritis, these also have been
reported in patients who were treated with Mebendazole tablets
at standard dosages.
In the event of accidental overdose, abdominal cramps, nausea,
vomiting and diarrhea may occur.

Treatment of Overdosage
There is no specific antidote.
Activated charcoal may be administered to aid in
the removal of unabsorbed drug if considered
appropriate.
General supportive measures are recommended.

Pregnancy
Mebendazole (Lupimeb Tablets) has been classified by the US FDA
as Pregnancy category C. The available published literature on
Mebendazole use in pregnant women has not reported a clear
association between mebendazole and a potential risk of major
birth defects or miscarriages.
Mebendazole has shown embryotoxic and teratogenic activity in
pregnant rats at single oral doses as low as 10 mg/kg (approximately
equal to the human dose, based on mg/m2).

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Generic Mebendazole (Lupimeb Tablets) is a deworming medication for humans which is used for the treatment of patients two years of age and older with gastrointestinal infections caused by: Ancylostoma duodenale (hookworm), Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm), Necator americanus (hookworm), and Trichuris trichiura (whipworm). Lupimeb tablets has also been used to treat infestations due to Strongyloides stercoralis (threadworm) and Taenia solium (large tapeworms).

  • 5. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy The active ingredient contained in Lupimeb tablets is Mebendazole. Each Lupimeb tablet contains 100 mg of Mebendazole.
  • 6. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Uses of Lupimeb 100 mg tablets: Lupimeb 100 mg tablets contain a medicine called Mebendazole. It is one of a group of medicines called ‘anthelmintics’. Lupimeb tablets are used to treat worm infections of the gut such as threadworms (pinworms) and other common worm infections (such as whipworm, roundworm, hookworm) This medicine is for use in adults and children aged over 2 years. Patients are advised to take Lupimeb tablets because they have a worm infection. Worms can infect anyone. It does not necessarily mean that your hygiene is poor.

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Recommended Dosage For the treatment of Enterobiasis in adults and children 2 Years and older, the dose of Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) is one tablet (100 mg) given as a single dose. Since reinfections by Enterobiusare known to be very frequent, it is recommended that treatment be repeated after two and four weeks, especially in eradication programs.

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Recommended Dosage for Adults and Children 2 Years and Older Trichuriasis, ascariasis, ankylostomiasis, strongyloidiasis, taeniasis and mixed infestations: One tablet (100 mg) two times a day in the morning and evening for three consecutive days. No special procedures such as fasting or purgation are required.
  • 9. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Contraindications ➔Lupimeb is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Mebendazole, other benzimidazole derivatives or any component of the tablet. ➔Administration of Lupimeb is contraindicated in pregnancy.

Therefore, Lupimeb cannot be recommended in this age group pending the results of studies. ➔Convulsions in children, including infants below one year of age have been reported very rarely during post-marketing experience with Mebendazole.

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Storage Instructions Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) have to be stored at controlled room temperature i.e. from 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F) with excursions permitted between 15° to 30°C (59° to 86°F). Keep this as well as all other medicines away from children and pets.

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Warnings Convulsions in children, including in infants below 1 year of age, have been reported very rarely during post- marketing experience. Because of the risk of convulsions, Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) should not be used particularly in children below the age of 1 year. Mebendazole tablets have not been extensively studied in children below the age of 2 years.

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Warnings Hematologic Effects: Neutropenia and agranulocytosis have been reported in patients receiving mebendazole at higher doses and for prolonged duration. Monitor blood counts in these patients Metronidazole and Serious Skin Reactions: Stevens-Johnson syndrome/toxic epidermal necrolysis (SJS/TEN) have been reported with the concomitant use of mebendazole and metronidazole. Avoid concomitant use of Mebendazole and Metronidazole

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Warnings There have been reports of reversible liver function disturbances, hepatitis, and neutropenia described in patients who were treated with Mebendazole at standard dosages for indicated conditions.These events, along with glomerulonephritis and agranulocytosis, have also been reported with dosages substantially above those recommended and with treatment for prolonged periods of time.
  • 15. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Possible Side Effects Side effects reported in clinical trials with Mebendazole tablets were anorexia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, vomiting and rash.

Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Possible Side Effects Side effects reported during post-marketing experience with Mebendazole tablets (Lupimeb) are included below: Blood and the lymphatic system disorders: neutropenia, agranulocytosis Immune system disorders: hypersensitivity including anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions Nervous system disorders: convulsions, dizziness Gastrointestinal disorders: abdominal discomfort, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting Hepatobiliary disorders: hepatitis,abnormal liver function tests Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, exanthema, angioedema, urticaria, rash, alopecia Renal and Urinary Disorders: glomerulonephritis (Observed in higher and prolonged doses)
  • 17. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Overdosage In patients treated at dosages substantially higher than recommendedand/or for prolonged periods of time, the following adverse reactions have been reported rarely: alopecia, reversible liver function disturbances, hepatitis, agranulocytosis, neutropenia, and glomerulonephritis. With the exception of agranulocytosis and glomerulonephritis, these also have been reported in patients who were treated with Mebendazole tablets at standard dosages. In the event of accidental overdose, abdominal cramps, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea may occur.
  • 18. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Treatment of Overdosage There is no specific antidote. Activated charcoal may be administered to aid in the removal of unabsorbed drug if considered appropriate. General supportive measures are recommended.
  • 19. Lupimeb (Generic Mebendazole Tablets) © The Swiss Pharmacy Pregnancy Mebendazole (Lupimeb Tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy category C. The available published literature on Mebendazole use in pregnant women has not reported a clear association between mebendazole and a potential risk of major birth defects or miscarriages. Mebendazole has shown embryotoxic and teratogenic activity in pregnant rats at single oral doses as low as 10 mg/kg (approximately equal to the human dose, based on mg/m2).
