Kinesiology is the scientific study of human and non-human body movement. It includes the study of walking, which involves alternating leg movements to propel the body forward, and running, where both feet are briefly off the ground during each stride leading to a faster movement. Walking and running both involve a stance phase when the foot is on the ground followed by a swing phase when the foot is lifted, with running differentiated by the lack of a double support phase.
