The Creative Entrepreneurs Association Nigeria usually hosts “Creative Sessions” for individuals in the Nigerian creative sector with the aim of discussing issues which affect them.
At one of the sessions held at the British Council, Adelphi Founding Partner - Ese Oraka was invited to talk on issues related to copyrights and the creative industry.
Considering that there were all kinds of creatives there including fashion designers, music artistes, writers, publishers and animators, the issues raised and the scope of the discussions were diverse. He touched on issues ranging from creativity, to copyrights, culture and commerce.
This presentation provides a summary of his thoughts on the various issues.
This paper looks at copyright, which is possibly one of the most controversial policy topics to have been talked about, lobbied and contested by various stakeholders for a very long time.
Some would say that the controversy already started at the very beginning of the birth of the world’s first copyright statute and it has never stopped since.
Skeptics on both sides of the debate would say that not much has really changed since the genesis of the controversy, as the debate has always come down to two things. The first is the tension between insiders benefiting from the prevailing copyright regime pushing back outsiders – in other words, the innovators who are barred from benefitting from the established status quo and are therefore demanding a change.
Helen Smith concluded: "The aim of our Digital Action Plan is to inspire decision-makers, ensure Europe’s position as a global power, and re-engage Europe with its creators and citizens. Our aim is to set new standards to make Europe the best place in the world for artists and other creators and for culture enthusiasts.”

Collective redress in the EU 19.09.2013 FERMA presentation by Julien Bedhouch...FERMA
This presentation given at the Belrim/CRE event about claims management on 19 September 2013 is dealing with with the consequences of the Recommendation published last June by the European Commission to the member states.
First part was dedicated to the theory on consumer redress (how to define redress? How to define collective actions? How to enforce consumer redress?) and the reasons why it is so popular in the US. Then the second part presented the situation of consumer redress in 8 EU countries and explained how the recommendation in June should be interpreted and what the key points were for FERMA.

In this presentation I will argue that museums cannot easily break from a strong historic tradition that looks into the past, partly because of consumer expectation. However, there are an increasing number of museums that take advantage of digital technology to innovate, though mostly behind the scenes. They are Invisible Entrepreneurs.
My argument will be built in two parts. First, I discuss literature on entrepreneurship, considering the risk of rent seeking and the question of positive and unproductive entrepreneurship (Baumol, 1990). I shall demonstrate how many entrepreneurs take content from museums benefiting from high quality content while avoiding the costs related to building centenary collections. Second, I examine the role of entrepreneurs as enablers. I shall present current innovations on digital publication of collections and highlight the role of museums, where the greatest innovations from museums can be found in the infrastructural projects that enable many others to innovate. In that sense, museums are not entrepreneurs to discover and exploit revenue potentialities but they position their collections for others to do so. Digital technologies facilitate museums to become, in a way, infrastructural entrepreneurs that seek to discover and exploit dissemination of information.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.
