This document discusses lessons learned about open and closed innovation. It covers a variety of topics related to innovation including behavior, communication, execution, sandboxes, challenges, branding, and the importance of people in the innovation process. Key lessons are that innovation requires systemic and systematic approaches across an organization. Both internal random projects and external challenges are important, as is getting innovations out of silos and into the marketplace. Relentlessly challenging the status quo while maintaining purpose, passion and hunger are also emphasized.
