 Staffing function consists of certain interrelated activities. 
 These activities make up all the elements of the process of staffing 
 Manpower planning of concerned with the forecasting and determination of the manpower requirement 
of the organization 
 The first major step in the staffing process in the elimination of manpower requirements 
 Manpower planning is otherwise called as Human resource planning 
 The object of this is to formulate programme well in advance to employ the required personnel over the 
planning period 
 Job analysis is the breaking up of a job in to basic elements or operations and studying detail each of the 
operations to know the nature and characteristics of the job

PHASE 1.INTRODUCTORY PHASE 
After the routine classroom practices, teacher begins the class by asking some questions in 
order to check the previous knowledge of the students. 
- What is staffing? 
- Importance of staffing in Human Resource Management? 
- What are the steps to be followed to your +2 admission?

PHASE 2. DEVELOPMENTAL PHASE 
Activity 1. (General discussion & Brainstorming) 
Teacher provides a situation to students for discussion purpose 
Mr. Murukan, who already have two tea factories at Munnar, decided to start a new tea 
processing unit. He estimated that 50 workers were needed for the new processing unit and 
decided to shift 10 workers from the existing factories and remaining from the out side sources. 
for this he invited applications from the public through news paper specifying the required 
experiences, qualifications and skill. 84 applications were received and on scrutiny 16 of them 
were rejected due to the lack of sufficient experiences and qualifications. Te remaining candidates 
were undergone through a written test, aptitude test and interview. 40 candidates were selected 
and appointed based on their merit. Mr. Murukan introduces them to the work place as well as to 
the existing workers. The newly selected workers were given two days training for the 
familiarizing the work. He checked and evaluated the performance of all workers frequently. The 
workers were given promotion depending up on their efficiency and skill. Compensation was 
given to the workers according to the terms and conditions of the employment. They were also 
given monitory as well as no monitory incentives according to their efficiency. 
Teacher asks the students to identify and discuss the various stages or steps 
involved in the above case. 
After the discussion students are reached the concept.
