TITLE:
Introduction to number names 1 to 6
CLASS : 1 Beta
DURATION : 1 hour
LEARNING OUTCOMES : By the end of the lesson,
pupils will be able to:
a) identify number names 1 to 6
b) listen to and pronounce number names correctly.
TEACHING AID : tissue paper, number cards,
clock, money and CD
Set induction:
1.Teacher uses the clock and ask what you see in the infront of
clock.
2.Teacher displays the CD 1 to 6.Pupils see and listen carefully.
3.Teacher gets pupils to say the number names in order. 1, 2, 3, 4,
5, 6.
4.Teacher gets pupils to repeat the number names in order a few
times.
 Look at the CD.
 Can you remember the numbers?
 Lets say the number names together.
 Repeat.
 Very good!
Steps 1
1.Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6.
2.Teacher groups pupils and gets them to arrange the
numbers in order.
3.Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6 again.
Steps 2
1. Teacher distributes the cut out number 1.
2. Teacher says:
 This is the number 1.
 Put your finger around 1.

3. Teacher says: ONE
4. Teacher gets pupils to repeat after the teacher a few times.
5. Teacher says: Lets draw one in the air.
6. Pupils draw one in the air a few times.
 Look at the cards.
 Put your finger around the number.
 This is one.
 Say, “one”
 Repeat after me.
 Lets draw one in the air.
 Look at my finger and follow me.
7. Teacher doing again for the next number 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Draw
the number in the air with their finger.
Steps 3
1.Teacher displays the number cards 1 to 6.
2.Teacher says the number names in order.
3. Pupils repeat after the teacher a few times.
4. Teacher gets pupils to say the number names in order.
 Look at the number cards.
 Now say the number names with me.
 Repeat after me.
 Try saying the number names in order.
Step 4
1.Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6.
2. Teacher calls pupils at random to arrange the number in
order.
3. Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6 again.
4. Teacher calls pupils at random to say the number.
Consolidation
1. Distribute worksheet
Pupils gets the tissue paper and number in
paper. Pupils must circle the tissue like the
small ball and paste on the number in their
worksheet.

Reinforcement
1.Distribute worksheet
Pupils circle the number correctly.

LESSON PLAN FOR MATHEMATICS

  • 2. CLASS : 1 Beta DURATION : 1 hour LEARNING OUTCOMES : By the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to: a) identify number names 1 to 6 b) listen to and pronounce number names correctly. TEACHING AID : tissue paper, number cards, clock, money and CD
  • 3. Set induction: 1.Teacher uses the clock and ask what you see in the infront of clock. 2.Teacher displays the CD 1 to 6.Pupils see and listen carefully. 3.Teacher gets pupils to say the number names in order. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. 4.Teacher gets pupils to repeat the number names in order a few times.  Look at the CD.  Can you remember the numbers?  Lets say the number names together.  Repeat.  Very good!
  • 4. Steps 1 1.Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6. 2.Teacher groups pupils and gets them to arrange the numbers in order. 3.Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6 again.
  • 5. Steps 2 1. Teacher distributes the cut out number 1. 2. Teacher says:  This is the number 1.  Put your finger around 1. 1 3. Teacher says: ONE 4. Teacher gets pupils to repeat after the teacher a few times. 5. Teacher says: Lets draw one in the air.
  • 6. 6. Pupils draw one in the air a few times.  Look at the cards.  Put your finger around the number.  This is one.  Say, “one”  Repeat after me.  Lets draw one in the air.  Look at my finger and follow me. 7. Teacher doing again for the next number 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. Draw the number in the air with their finger.
  • 7. Steps 3 1.Teacher displays the number cards 1 to 6. 2.Teacher says the number names in order. 3. Pupils repeat after the teacher a few times. 4. Teacher gets pupils to say the number names in order.  Look at the number cards.  Now say the number names with me.  Repeat after me.  Try saying the number names in order.
  • 8. Step 4 1.Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6. 2. Teacher calls pupils at random to arrange the number in order. 3. Teacher jumbles up the number cards 1 to 6 again. 4. Teacher calls pupils at random to say the number.
  • 9. Consolidation 1. Distribute worksheet Pupils gets the tissue paper and number in paper. Pupils must circle the tissue like the small ball and paste on the number in their worksheet. • good try
