Procedure
                                               Explaining the Subject with a catching story:
                                               In a village an old man lived with his 17 camels and his 3
                                               sons.When the old man got sick he knew he was going to
                                               die, so he wrote a testament.He wanted them to study
                                               mathematics.But the three sons weren’t intrested in
                                               maths.After the old man died, the sons learned about the
                                               testament! They read:”Im leaving half of my camels to
                                               my eldest son, 1/3 of my camels to my second-eldest son,
                                               and 1/9 of my camels to my youngest son.”The three sons
                                               were surprised. Because 17 is a prime number and it can’t
                                               be divided into 2,3 or 9. After discussing for a long time
                                               they decided to go to the scholar of the village.The
                                               scholar smiled and added 1 of his own camels to the
                                               other camels and so now there were 18 camels. It might
                                               sound wierd that the scholar gave one of his camels away
                                               for free! But let’s get back to the testament.The half of 18
                                               is 9…The eldest son gets his share. 9 camels are left. 1/3
                                               of 18 is 6,the second-eldest son gets his share. 3 camels
                                               left. 1/9 of 18 is 2 and the youngest son gets his share. 3-
                                               2=1, this is what is left, and this is the scholar’s camel…As
                                               you can see the scholar,who knows the rules of division,
                                               solved a problem that could ruin the three sons’ lives,
                                               using maths!
                                               Another mathematical knowledge we can use in our every
                                               day lives is the Pythagorean Relationship.We remember
                                               this right?.. In any right triangle, the area of the square

whose side is the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the
                                               areas of the squares whose sides are the two legs.



                                                                               Lets think about it. Get
                                               three fields in the shape of a square, and two brothers
                                               have to share them.But you can’t divide the fields! Area
                                               of a square=(one side)2




                                               The areas of the fields on the bottom,on the left and on
                                               the right will be c2, b2 and a2. Now let’s remember the
                                               Pythagorean Relationship. Wouldn’t it be c2=a2+b2 ? Two
                                               equal areas.
                                               We can witness the camel example any day.This example
                                               is quite useful in factorization.x4+4 may stand as an
                                               expression of an integral factorization, but…
                                                 It can be written as x4+4+4x2-4x2. =x4+4x2+4-4x2
                                               =(x2+2)2-4x2 =(x2+2)2-(2x)2 =(x2+2x+2).(x2-2x+2)
                                               As you can see the scholars’ camel problem has been
                                               solved.

Lesson Maths Level 10th Grade Theme Content Math in our daily life Duration 45 minutes Objectives Approaching the problems we may encounter every day via analytical thinking and seeking out solutions fort hem.Enabling students to acquire such an ability Procedure Explaining the Subject with a catching story: In a village an old man lived with his 17 camels and his 3 sons.When the old man got sick he knew he was going to die, so he wrote a testament.He wanted them to study mathematics.But the three sons weren’t intrested in maths.After the old man died, the sons learned about the testament! They read:”Im leaving half of my camels to my eldest son, 1/3 of my camels to my second-eldest son, and 1/9 of my camels to my youngest son.”The three sons were surprised. Because 17 is a prime number and it can’t be divided into 2,3 or 9. After discussing for a long time they decided to go to the scholar of the village.The scholar smiled and added 1 of his own camels to the other camels and so now there were 18 camels. It might sound wierd that the scholar gave one of his camels away for free! But let’s get back to the testament.The half of 18 is 9…The eldest son gets his share. 9 camels are left. 1/3 of 18 is 6,the second-eldest son gets his share. 3 camels left. 1/9 of 18 is 2 and the youngest son gets his share. 3- 2=1, this is what is left, and this is the scholar’s camel…As you can see the scholar,who knows the rules of division, solved a problem that could ruin the three sons’ lives, using maths! Another mathematical knowledge we can use in our every day lives is the Pythagorean Relationship.We remember this right?.. Get three fields in the shape of a square, and two brothers have to share them.But you can’t divide the fields! Area of a square=(one side)2 The areas of the fields on the bottom,on the left and on the right will be c2, b2 and a2. Now let’s remember the Pythagorean Relationship. Wouldn’t it be c2=a2+b2 ? Two equal areas. We can witness the camel example any day.This example is quite useful in factorization.x4+4 may stand as an expression of an integral factorization, but… It can be written as x4+4+4x2-4x2. =x4+4x2+4-4x2 =(x2+2)2-4x2 =(x2+2)2-(2x)2 =(x2+2x+2).(x2-2x+2) As you can see the scholars’ camel problem has been solved.
