This study measures attitudes and perceptions toward different groups in Moldova to understand social distance and stereotypes. It surveyed citizens in 2015. The study found that discrimination is not seen as a major problem, and citizens show high intolerance toward vulnerable groups. Low development, living standards, and lack of trust in institutions and others contribute to intolerance. None of the 14 marginalized groups studied had zero social distance, meaning complete acceptance. On average, Roma people, LGBT individuals, and ex-detainees faced the greatest intolerance.
