This lesson plan is for a kindergarten class learning about wild animals. The 30 minute lesson will use videos, songs and activities to introduce animals from The Jungle Book like bear, lion, monkey, snake, panther and tiger. Students will practice identifying and naming the animals, develop listening skills, and follow directions through songs. The lesson will start with a hello song, introduce animals through a walking in the jungle video, have students practice naming animals with cards and puppets, and end with a goodbye song. The teacher plans to assess students through their singing and a speaking activity about favorite animals.
In my first two lessons I had to teach children to identify boys and girls. In their booklets students had a page in which they were supposed to match a drawing of a boy and a girl to their clothes. As they could identify and name colours and numbers, I tried to use their background knowledge and create a context of children playing in a park which I believed was meaningful to their age and interests. Surfing the net, I found some engaging songs, pictures and a video as well.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2. • Teaching approach: based on the Natural Approach (Stephen Krashen) and
the PPP method. The students are encouraged to speak English naturally,
without being forced to do it.
• Materials and resources: computer, projector and screen, internet
connection, speakers, animal flashcards in a PowerPoint presentation, small
cards with the names and pictures of the animals, animal puppets.
• Pedagogical use of ICT in class: the students watch three videos. The first
one acts as a hello routine, which attempts to activate students, whereas the
second video is to introduce the topic of the lesson. Finally, they watch a
goodbye video that contains a lot of animals and funny rhymes.
• Seating arrangement: first, the students sit on the floor as in a horseshoe
shape and watch the videos and flashcards. Then, they stand up to sing and
dance. They sit on the floor again and finally they stand up again to dance the
goodbye song.
• Possible problems / difficulties and possible solutions during the class:
in case there wasn´t internet connection, I would download the video before
the class. If it didn´t work, I would sing and use the small cards to present the
animals.
The students may get distracted or not pay attention at some point in the
class. If that happened, I would say: ´1, 2, 3, eyes on me!´
• Potential problems students may have with the language: the students
may not understand one of the words. In that case, I would ask several
students different questions until everybody understands. If someone seemed
not to understand, I would encourage the students to help him or her.
• Assessment: what will be assessed and how: the students` singing the
song is a form of assessment as well as the final speaking activity, when the
students are to talk about the animals they like.
ROUTINE (5´)
Purpose: to engage students, to make them focus on the lesson and to revise
language structures.
Students listen to the following song:
The teacher says: ´Hello everyone! Let´s watch a fun video to start the class!´

T: ´Look! This is THE JUNGLE BOOK. I like The Jungle Book. Do you like it? What
animals can you see in the picture?
The students name the animals they know.
4. Transition: The teacher says: we are going to watch a video about animals in the
jungle, OK? (enthusiastically) and the children answer yes!
PRESENTATION: (5´)
Purpose: to continue showing the students the new contents to learn, and to guide
the students into practice.
The students watch the following video. As they watch, the teacher encourages them

Now, the teacher gives each student a card of a different animal and she shows
them some flashcards. When they appear, the students have to put their cards up
and say: ´It´s a…´ (5´)
Let´s sit on the floor (pointing and doing it) and talk about animals. It´s for you (to all
the students). Now, who has this animal? (showing the picture of an animal) Ohh,
what is it? (if the student doesn´t say, she encourages to say: It´s a … and he or she
repeats), and so on with the rest of the animals.
Transition: The teacher says: Excellent! Now it´s time to sing again!
CLOSURE (5´)
Purpose: to check the students´ understanding of the topic deal in the class and to
say goodbye in a funny way.
The teacher says: ´Now we will watch another video! Let´s sing together!
