Lesson # 1
A: To begin the lesson, students will be watching a few videos on the three different
types of graphs that will be discussed throughout the unit. The videos will be a good
introduction for the students and will give them all the same basic knowledge to
prepare them for the unit.
S: In the first lesson, my students will distinguish the three different types of graphs
that are most commonly used in the elementary schools. This will be accomplished
by watching YouTube videos on the basics of graphs, creating a desktop publisher
that will allow students to keep a portfolio of their documents, and setting up class
accounts using Facebook, Twitter, and Zello to make communication for group work
and assignments easier by the end of a two day period with a 95% accuracy.
S: The technology that will be used throughout this lesson will be the computer,
smart board, and I-pads. Students will be using the I-pads for communicating
through Zello, Facebook, and Twitter. The computers will be used for when students
make their desktop publishing page. Then the Smart board will be used when the
videos are being projected.
U: The videos that are going to be played will be ready to watch when the class
comes into the classroom. Before the students can be added to the Facebook and
Twitter account, there will be a consent form that the parents must sign. Before
students create their desktop publisher page, there will be a short time to review
and discuss how to create one.
R: There will be many opportunities for students to be involved with classroom
participation. Students will be given time to comment on the Facebook page and
Twitter account. Through these accounts, students can ask questions, and post their
thoughts or ideas about the topics. The desktop publisher will give students the
opportunity to display their work and other students can view their work. This
could help other students understand the concept if it is not clicking. With the
desktop page, students will post their thoughts on the videos and questions they
have about graphing.
E: Evaluations will be made through the student’s response to the posts I make on
Facebook about graphing and their thoughts on it. Another type of evaluation will be
the student’s page they create. This will be an ongoing type of evaluation to make
sure the students are keeping up with their work.

Lesson #1

  • 1. Lesson # 1 A: To begin the lesson, students will be watching a few videos on the three different types of graphs that will be discussed throughout the unit. The videos will be a good introduction for the students and will give them all the same basic knowledge to prepare them for the unit. S: In the first lesson, my students will distinguish the three different types of graphs that are most commonly used in the elementary schools. This will be accomplished by watching YouTube videos on the basics of graphs, creating a desktop publisher that will allow students to keep a portfolio of their documents, and setting up class accounts using Facebook, Twitter, and Zello to make communication for group work and assignments easier by the end of a two day period with a 95% accuracy. S: The technology that will be used throughout this lesson will be the computer, smart board, and I-pads. Students will be using the I-pads for communicating through Zello, Facebook, and Twitter. The computers will be used for when students make their desktop publishing page. Then the Smart board will be used when the videos are being projected. U: The videos that are going to be played will be ready to watch when the class comes into the classroom. Before the students can be added to the Facebook and Twitter account, there will be a consent form that the parents must sign. Before students create their desktop publisher page, there will be a short time to review and discuss how to create one. R: There will be many opportunities for students to be involved with classroom participation. Students will be given time to comment on the Facebook page and Twitter account. Through these accounts, students can ask questions, and post their thoughts or ideas about the topics. The desktop publisher will give students the opportunity to display their work and other students can view their work. This could help other students understand the concept if it is not clicking. With the desktop page, students will post their thoughts on the videos and questions they have about graphing. E: Evaluations will be made through the student’s response to the posts I make on Facebook about graphing and their thoughts on it. Another type of evaluation will be the student’s page they create. This will be an ongoing type of evaluation to make sure the students are keeping up with their work.
