In this talk Olaf Janssen explains how and why joining forces with Wikipedia fits in the bigger open data strategies of the Koninklijke Bibliotheek. Starting from a brief historic overview of its Wikipedian-in-Residence project in 2013-14, he not only explains how the KB has been collaborating with Wikipedia and its volunteer community over the last couple of years, but also which positive impacts it has had for the exposure, distribution and reuse of KB's collections.
Sharing is Caring – Brussels Extension: Opening up with Wikimedia took place on 20 June at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage in Brussels. This conference introduced the Belgian heritage sector to the possible applications of the various Wikimedia platforms for opening up digital collections. Public Domain Day 2020 by Sam Donvil (meemoo)
On 21 February 2020, meemoo and the Royal Library of Belgium organised a special study day in Brussels in celebration of Public Domain Day. Sam Donvil (meemoo) introduced the basic principles of the public domain and its significance to heritage institutions. He also gave an overview of authors that fell into the public domain in 2020, some examples of possibilities with public domain works all over the world and illustrated concrete actions taken by meemoo, a.o. concerning the oeuvre of James Ensor. Then, two other speakers from Vlaamse Kunstcollectie and KU Leuven took the floor. Sam Donvil continued with some guidelines for institutions that want to bring collections into the public domain, and a few words on Open Access in Belgium. To conclude, the results of the Wiki Loves Heritage photography competition were announced.

Statsbygg is the client being managed by PROBEA AS, with AF Gruppen as the building contractor and Kleihues + Schuwerk as the architect. The Norwegian Ministry of culture initiated the project, which will have over 54,600 square meters of space and is planned to be completed in 2020.

1) Museums provide access to collections to generate value in the form of memory, joy and awe. Only a small percentage of collections can be accessed physically due to space and time limitations.
2) Value is a social and cultural concept that is shaped by networks and conventions and can change over time. It includes economic, moral, aesthetic, and other forms of cultural value. Information is key to valuation processes.
3) Wikipedia provides highly accessible, sustainable access to knowledge and serves as a living archive with a common mission with museums of providing access to all human knowledge. Collections on Wikipedia can reach new audiences and be repositioned in new contexts.

Europeana DSI3 teachers workshop
From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November took place in the Future Classroom Lab (Brussels), a series of workshops organized by Europeana and Scientix. A total of 53 participants from 18 countries and different backgrounds (from primary level to high education and from science to humanities ) joined the event. The 18 teachers participating in Europeana's workshop learned about the available resources of Europeana to integrate digitized cultural heritage content in their learning activities.
Bechtler Museum Construction
This document provides details on the construction of the Bechtler Museum building in Charlotte, North Carolina. It was designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta and features a soaring glass atrium. Europeana DSI3 teachers workshop
From Friday 27 to Sunday 29 November took place in the Future Classroom Lab (Brussels), a series of workshops organized by Europeana and Scientix. A total of 53 participants from 18 countries and different backgrounds (from primary level to high education and from science to humanities ) joined the event. The 18 teachers participating in Europeana's workshop learned about the available resources of Europeana to integrate digitized cultural heritage content in their learning activities.

The Jawahar Kala Kendra in Jaipur, India was designed by architect Charles Correa in 1986 based on the original city plan of Jaipur consisting of nine squares arranged around a central open space. The complex uses the concept of the nine classical planets ("Navagraha") in Hindu astrology, with each building or space associated with and designed according to the characteristics of a particular planet. This includes the colors, materials, landscaping, and functions of the spaces. The complex promotes Indian art and culture and houses facilities like a library, art galleries, workshops, and an open air theater.

Jawahar Kala Kendra is a cultural centre in Jaipur, India dedicated to Jawaharlal Nehru. A museum is an institution that cares for (conserves) a collection of artifacts and other objects of scientific, artistic, cultural, or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits that may be permanent or temporary.[1] Most large museums are located in major cities throughout the world and more local ones exist in smaller cities, towns and even the countryside. Museums have varying aims, ranging from serving researchers and specialists to serving the general public. The continuing acceleration in the digitization of information, combined with the increasing capacity of digital information storage, is causing the traditional model of museums (i.e. as static "collections of collections" of three-dimensional specimens and artifacts) to expand to include virtual exhibits and high-resolution images of their collections for perusal, study, and exploration from any place with Internet.[citation needed] The city with the largest number of museums is Mexico City with over 128 museums. According to The World Museum Community, there are more than 55,000 museums in 202 countries.[2]

In 2009, The Getty Foundation issued a challenge to eight art museums: translate a scholarly catalog rich with cultural heritage data, images, and interpretation into an online resource that strives to reach beyond the limitations of print in creative and useful ways. "Systematic catalogs" are a time-honored and resource-intensive method of publishing the core art historical data and art research associated with the cultural objects that these institutions hold in public trust. And so the Online Scholarly Catalog Initiative (OSCI) was begun with the goal of "blowing up the book"... not to eliminate or destroy, but rather to expand the utility and audience of these important resources.
In the spring of 2014, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC launched their OSCI publication of its Dutch Paintings of the 17th Century systematic catalog. Through thoughtful and elegant design, the Gallery translated the printed catalog into a sustainable digital publication that extends the audience, usefulness, and sustainability of the information contained within. This talk presents a case study on incorporating academic research information from a traditional printed publication into the public web site for the National Gallery of Art. It also offers lessons that can be applied to other information sites.
Creative Re-Use of Cultural Heritage: Europeana Creative

This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
