Stonewall
As a member of the LGBT+ community I consider myself to have a lot of knowledge on the
issues and topics within the community. I realized, however, after a few lectures that I really did
not know very much about the history of the LGBT+ community, I just knew about the modern
issues and topics. Coincidently I also did not know much about topics in the LGBT+ community
either. I had known about Stonewall and about the LGBT+ treatment in Nazi concentration camps,
however I did not really know much else. Accordingly, I did not realize how little I knew about
Stonewall as an LGBT+ event, all I knew was that it was the start of the revolution in LGBT+
activism and rights, I also knew that someone threw something at a cop and it started the riots,...

Radiator Hose Cut Day New Director Meets Department (March 2, 2017) 48. On the way to
work, to meet the new director, the car had overheated when getting off the off ramp to work. I
checked under the hood and I saw that the car had a clean razor blade like cut in the radiator
hose allowing air to get into the system. I had electrical tape and silicone in the car at the time,
and I used that to repair the hose that was torn. Then I stopped at Harbor Freight to get hose
clamps to tighten down the hoses; so the air would not get in and it wouldn t leak. I have receipt
of the hose clamps I purchased there that day. I intended to notify my Supervisor through email on

Lab Report On Photosynthesis

Photosynthesis Lab Report
Abstract
These experiments show the different aspects that effect the rate of photosynthesis. Light intensity
effects the rate of photosynthesis, the more intense the faster the rate. Different colors of light
effect the speed of photosynthesis. Colors like white and blue cause it to go faster, while green is
very slow. Lastly, there are different pigments in in photosynthesisthat control what lights are used
for that plant.
Introduction
Photosynthesis is one of the most crucial biochemical processes on Earth. This process is used by
eukaryotic plants and algae. They are able to be self sufficient by providing themselves with their
own nutrients. This process uses sunlight water and CO2. The products of this process are glucose
and oxygen. Which is then used in a process known as cellular respiration, whose products are
water, CO2 and energy. The two processes are continuously working together.
We completed three experiments on the topic of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, we tested
the effect of light intensity by substituting NADPH with DPIP. DPIP starts out blue and changes to
clear as it becomes reduced. Our hypothesis was the more intense the light is the faster
photosynthetic process and the faster the rate of absorbency. Our null hypothesis was light has no
effect on the rate of photosynthesis. The second experiment tested the effect of different colors,
such as red, blue, green, white, and no light. Our

A Brief Note On Tax Evasion And Tax
Reporting: Tax Evasion
Tax havens are sometimes called tax shelters, secrecy jurisdictions, international financial centers,
or simply offshores. They are the locations of a growing shadow economy of unregulated global
capital (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). As defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), tax
havens are jurisdictions with no or very low rates of tax, strict banking secret provisions, lack of
transparency and efficient exchange of information with other countries (Global Financial Integrity,
2015). Tax havens mainly help their users to pass any financial regulations illegal banking
transactions and to launder money earned illegally through drug trafficking or organized crimes and
hide them from criminal laws and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The British Virgin Islands has 400000 corporations and requires no financial or personal records
to be kept so this makes it very easy to make larger transfers of money into Tax Havens undetected
(Tax Fairness, 2015). At the same time, laundering criminal proceeds can be easily done through tax
haven by finding a bank in a country that accepts your deposit without asking questions and
sends to whoever you wish to receive it. So is evading taxes disguise income or assets through
that country and fail to report to your home country s authority (Global Financial Integrity,
2015). For example, 53.3 billion Canadian dollars have been sent to Barbados in 2011; 80
billions dollars estimated revenue lost to tax avoidance in Canada and 24% of Canadian s foreign
investments directed into Tax Havens (Tax Fairness, 2015). This shows how tax evasion is
becoming popular as people try to find loopholes in the system and hide their assets with the help
of lawyers and banks.

Argumentative Essay On Homeless Youth
It was a beautiful sight for the students of Glenridge High this past weekend, as their outdoor
concert at Hartley Park was a huge success. Thousands of people in the community came out to
eat delicious food and listen to music while dozens of activities were taking place around the
park. The concert, all planned by the students, was held to raise money and awareness for
homeless youth in Canada. It took months of careful planning and serious dedication from the
hundreds of students from Glenridge high. The idea first popped in the head of 11th grader
Emily Ayres. We were doing a project about homeless youth in my Civics class and when I began
to research, I realized what a huge problem it was. She wanted to make the issue of homeless

Similarities Between Wicca And Witchcraft
Wiccans are Pagans; Pagans are not necessarily Wiccans; witches are not Wiccans. Wicca and
witchcraft are commonly amalgamated in Western popular culture and there are indeed some
similarities between them in part because of their common origin in Paganism. However, I will
argue that there are four major differences between Wiccaand witchcraftconcerning: their
conceptions of the deities, their organizations, their ceremonies and practices, and their views on
reincarnation. On a terminological note: by Paganism I mean spiritual paths characterized by
nature worship and polytheism or pantheism (Yardley 329), which Wiccans and witches fall
under; by Wicca I mean a form of worship, a spiritual system and also a system for developing and
using psychic and magical power (Crowley 11); and by witchcraft, I mean focusing on the practice
of magicand healing (Yardley 329).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Optic Nerve Construction
There are many structures in the eye, some of which include; the retina, rods and cones, the macula,
the central fovea, the cranial nerve, the optic chiasm and the lateral geniculate nucleus. The retina is
a layer at the back of the eye containing cells that are sensitive to light, it triggers impulses through
the optic nerve. Rods and cones are specialized receptors which sense light and color. The macula
is an area about the diameter of a pencil head and is close to 100 times more sensitive to small
visual features than the rest of the retina. The central fovea is an area of the retina in the center of
the macula that has an extremely high resolution. The cranial nerve is responsible for nerve
impulses that travel along the optic nerve... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Bergman like the evolutionists, used other scientist s studies and claims to make his argument
sound. Bergman also included the counterargument, otherwise known as the evolutionists view of
the retina, which helps the reader see both sides of the story. Bergman s argument is valid because
even though the eye may be different from what evolutionists think the ideal eye would look like, it
still functions at the highest rate possible and can not be redesigned to make it faster or more
efficient then the original God given

Full Face Veil Essay
2.2 Supporters
One of the main arguments of those who support a ban of full face veils is that they are a clear
sign of a lack of emancipation and the disadvantage of Muslim women compared to their male
counterparts. The veil, originally used to display modesty and prevent other men from being
physically attracted to those who wear it, is called a symbol of the oppression of women.
According to supporters of a ban, the idea that women have to be protected from lustful man by
wearing full face veils is absurd as there are enough laws and security measures in place in order to
prevent any kind of sexual assault. By wearing certain Islamic dress such as the

Nowhere in the „Quran is said that a full face veil is mandatory, the idea of it being mandatory
comes from fundamentalist Muslims who interpret the „Quran in a way that results in a full face
veil being a requirement by God. An alternative which would be acceptable for supporters of a ban
as it does not conceal the identity of someone who wears it is the „Hijab , the traditional veil
which only covers the hair, neck and upper chest of a woman, but does not veil the face. This is
supposed to show that those supporting a ban do not dislike veils in general, with possibly
islamophobic intentions, but rather do not want to accept certain features of full face veils,
whether for safety reasons or moral reasons connected to emancipation. Even if the veil is worn by
choice, taking the right to do so away would not attack the fundamental rights of the affected
woman according to supporters of a ban. One principle of modern Western societies is that in order
to maintain individual freedom, every individual

2. Describe how Avon s business model has changed in light of demographic and social changes in
the United States and abroad. What role has IHRM played in the company s global expansion?
Avon has had to adapt its business model due to demographic and social shifts. In the United
States, for example, resources have become less differentiated and the biggest way for a company
to gain a competitive advantage is with a well developed workforce. Technological advancements
have also created the need for Avon to have an online platform in order to efficiently manage their
workforce. Changes abroad have also impacted Avon. For instance, new emerging marketssuch as
India, Russia and China have created new opportunities for the company. However, these countries
must be analyzed to understand how to establish a workforce as well as the social and
demographic factors that can affect their human resource practices (iei.e.; the social role of women;
restrictions on certain business practices). In the global market, Avon hires and trains the new local
workforce in its door to door selling model and adapts their distribution strategies to the local needs
by including mail, phone, fax, retail outlets, and web sites for working women and to accommodate
other cultural and logistical practices. Human resource management plays a huge role in dealing
with knowing who to recruit for the global workforce, what qualifications can be expected, how to

Glory The movie Glory was a wonderful depiction of the group of men involved in the 54th

Gould Shaw these men were held a high amount of pride, enthusiasm, and bravery as they willingly
fought against all of the racial harshness of the U.S. military system. The men of the 54th regiment

seemed to be encouraged by everyone at one point or another to give up on his service to the

nicknamed Searles snowflake due to his upbringing and personality. But even with the nickname
snowflake Searles did not change his personality to fit in with the other men. He did continue to
try to incorporate himself into being a solder rather then changing who he was to become a
solder. Coming from his implied previous lifestyle it seemed that Searles was the furthest away
from his comfort zone especially when he had to take harsh orders from Shaw. Searles was
inspirational to me because even though he was out of place and encouraged to quit, he continued

A Brief Summary Of Prohibition
As a result of Prohibition, the advancements of industrialization within the alcoholic beverage
industry were essentially reversed. Large scale alcohol producers were shut down, for the most part,
and some individual citizens took it upon themselves to produce alcohol illegally, essentially
reversing the efficiency of mass producing and retailing alcoholic beverages. Closing the country s
manufacturing plants and taverns also resulted in an economic downturn for the industry. While the
Eighteenth Amendment did not have this effect on the industry due to its failure to define an
intoxicating beverage, the Volstead Act s definition of 0.5% or more alcohol by volume shut down
the brewers, who expected to continue to produce beer of moderate

The Dangers Of Jackie Robinson And The Civil Rights Movement
Most people can, and have made it into the NBA, NFL, MLB, and much more. But did they really
make a linear impact through what their doing? Do these people take advantage of their position in
order to help the world? Do they help others with the advantages they have, or disadvantages they
have been given? Can t think of many? Well, there indeed is one, at the minimum. Jackie Robinson.
Jackie Robinson turned his ability to play for the Dodgers as an African American, into an
inspirational awakening to Americans everywhere and their stance of racismand the Civil Rights
Movement.
Jackie Robinson was the first black man to to enter the MLB in over 60 years. In doing so, he
was cultivated in large amounts of racism and threats he was going to, and did apprehend. In
this; he had to overcome the mind boggling hatred he was going to receive, to do not only what
he loved, but what, for America; was well overdue. Jackie Robinson was a victim of many hate
crimes throughout his career, as shown in Jackie Robinson Mini Bio (video) when it says life
for Jackie Robinson was far from easy. On the road, he was forced to stay in separate hotels, and
he had agreed in his contract to turn the other cheek when faced with racial insults and threats of
physical violence (00:1:18 00:1:33). This shows that, even with his race, yet another barrier was put
up between him and his teammates, which prevented them from learning that he too, knows his
way around a diamond; for baseball at least. This

The Physical Portrayals Of Hispanic Women In The Media
The physical portrayal of Hispanic women in the media has a large influence on the Hispanic
women and girls that view these portrayals. The media s physical portrayal of Hispanic women is
that they are voluptuous, dark haired, tanned skin, and petite. There are many films, TV shows,
and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are
Modern Family, Maid in Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the
main character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic women
and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should look.
This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. media use may play a role in
the body image development of Latina adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time
when watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The
difference between white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a
greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who
is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy,
and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If
they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves. Latina women in
this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of
Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification
(Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same
background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact
that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the
newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues
with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image.
According to the media s portrayal of Latin women, there are two ways Latin women act. The first
way is passive, pure, and dependent on men; the second way is wild,

Gravity Roads and Gravity Hills
Have you ever dreamed about going up into space feeling the weightlessness without gravity?
While not everyone can have such an opportunity, there are still places that ignore the rules of
gravity. Gravity hills allow all types of objects to travel uphill. What are they? How do they
work? If you park your car at the bottom of these roads, then place it in neutral, your car will
begin to travel upward. The same process works for water, tennis balls, pop cans or basically
anything. Gravity hills seem like a dream come true, but this is all just smoke and mirrors, an
optical illusion. The discoveries of these hills happened very gradually. There was no specific
time or place. Every hill has their own story of a new mystical place that defies gravity. When a
gravity hill was discovered it would begin with news casts. Then, someone would buy the
property making it into a showplace for people to come and visit. There many places that have
been long since discovered, and probably many more yet to be found. This may all seem too
good to be true. Well, it is. There were many experiments conducted, trying to figure out how
these hills work. At first people believed that they was a magnetic force pulling their car upward,
but how does that explain the tennis ball and the water traveling upward? Scientist finally came
upon the discovery of how our own eyes are tricking us. We see uphills easier then we see a
downhill. To prove this scientists set up 3 boards, the one in the middle is

There is more flexibility for manipulation of the accounting figures. The authors also points out that
this flexibility for manipulation should not be underestimated citing past loans and goodwill

The article also finds after discussing the arguments for and against Historical Cost Accounting that
is could not be a good replacement for FVA and HCA has problems more severe than the problems
with FVA.
The article concludes that the debate about FVA is full of arguments that do not hold up to further
scrutiny and need more economic analysis. The authors concludes that in their view, it is better to
design prudential regulation that accepts FVA as a starting point but sets explicit counter cyclical
capital requirements.
The article concludes that trade off between transparency and financial stability as well as the
interactions between accounting and prudential regulations needs further analysis and suggest areas
for further research which includes whether FVA did in fact contribute to the financial crisis
through contagion effects, and the interactions between FVA and other important elements of the
institutional framework.
The articles also suggests the study should be done to find out the what role HCA may have
played for the banking crisis and the role of, off balance sheet vehicles and retained positions

Analysis Of Quit Social Media
Living in a world where social media are highly incorporated into our daily lives is associated
with being detached from the things that matter, such as family, friends, and even human
relationships in general. Moreover, in 2016, Cal Newport pointed out in his article, Quit Social
Media. Your Career May Depend On It , from The New York Times, that people are now beginning
to believe that social mediamay perhaps take a toll on their career. On the contrary, I find it ironic
that people claim to be victimized by social mediawhen they are giving it authority over them and
their lives by assuming they cannot stay in control of how they occupy their time. If common
people permit social media to drain valuable work time, then they are one of two things; careless
of their job, or they feel as though they are not in charge of their life. I believe that social media
cannot agonize a career unless the person using it gives it the power to do so. On the other hand,
Newport believes that social media can hurt your career by making someone counterproductive.
The first point Newport makes in his paper is that social media can harm one s career.
Additionally, Newport explains in their article the many ways in which he deems that social
media can impact a career and work ethics. Newport acknowledges social media is engineered to
be addictive and goes further to explain that it deteriorates the skill to focus on complex tasks
without losing concentration. Within his second point, he says that, The more you use social
media in the way it s designed to be used...the more your brain learns to crave a quick hint of
stimulus... This is supported by general knowledge that social media is an addiction of sorts;
once the brain becomes well acquainted with it, it will rely on it to generate happiness. Newport
then goes on to say the idea of introducing social media into his life is as frightening as the idea of
tobacco is to an athlete. Another point he makes is that commitment to cultivating your social
media brand is a fundamentally passive approach to professional advancement. He asserts this
view by declaring it simply diverts time from work to personal fulfilment. Newport concludes his
paper by suggesting that in order to

Calculate The Kinetic Energy And Energy Of An Object...
Calculating Energy
Introduction:
The objective of this lab was to calculate the kinetic energy and potential energy of an object
through experimenting with a car and measuring its velocity when passing through photogates
while carrying a certain amount of weights. In order to find kinetic and potential energy, we applied
the concepts of velocity and speed that we learned previously. This lab showed us the application
of the concepts we learned in class and how potential energy is converted into kinetic energy, and
vice versa.
Theory: write more!
The principle used in this lab was that energy is conserved. The total energy is distributed as either
kinetic energy or potential energy. Kinetic energy is caused due to motion and potential energy is
caused due to gravity. We used the following formulas to calculate kinetic and potential energy, and
percent difference:

Conduct literature establishes what female qualities are deemed socially acceptable, and, in the
process, reduces women to objects that passively conform to these dictates (39).
1.2. Patriarchy in Conduct Literature It is important here what the author means by the word
patriarchal , because this expression is widely used throughout her research as a key word
comprising men s attitude towards women in the eighteenth century. Dobosiewicz presents the
evolution of the very term, inclining mostly towards Sylvia Walby s understanding of it in
Theorizing Patriarchy (1990). Walby states there that patriarchy is a system of social structures
and practices in which men dominate, oppress and exploit women. (quoted from Dobosiewicz,
p. 38 ). Furthermore, Dobosiewicz claims that the power of patriarchy lies in the biological
differences between sexes. The weaker sex, that is women, has to care for different social tasks,
primarily those of wife and mother (Dobosiewicz 38). Such view gave males a pretext for
assigning women to the private sphere. In patriarchal discourse the meaning and role of women are
perceived in relation to a norm which is male (Dobosiewicz 38). That is why social tasks of women
are defined as different , different from that of men. Another important aspect of patriarchy, which
finds reflection in conduct literature is the view that patriarchy

Air Arms Fire Was Hit By Enemy Fire
As we were ending a meeting with the local elders, my platoon was hit by enemy fire. This was
the Konar River Valley. Only one road traveled north from our Combat Outpost (COP) towards
the main FOB. On the east side were cliffs that would send you plummeting down towards the
Konar River. The other side of the road varied between sharp cliffs to rolling hills that all
inevitably jutted upward to the mountainous landscape adjacent to us. We were afforded Mine
Resistant Armor Protected vehicles (MRAPs) that protected us from most of the harm during our
transit to the various towns and city centers along the river. We were beginning to load back into

The importance of the Nurses rule over Salem was that it was defined by how the people looked

Reverend Parris when the book first starts off. Reverend Parris s power over Salem was

by the change in the symbols, Rebecca Nurses brick and mortar give an sense of community and

Pros And Cons Of Stem Cell Therapy
MECHANISMS OF STEM CELL
One of the major obstacles in progressing to large scale clinical trials of cardiac stem cell therapy
is the ongoing debate regarding the mechanism of action by which stem cell therapy leads to
cardiac repair. The classic idea that provided the primary motivation for stem cell therapy is that
delivery of the appropriate stem cells would repair a damaged heart via active myocardial
regeneration resulting from transdifferentiation of the administered stem cells.19 Some researchers
believe that exogenous stem cells may also stimulate proliferation of endogenous cardiac precursors
or stem cells through neovascularization or paracrine signaling actions. Other state that exogenous
stem cells may lead to cardiac repair via ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within a few hours after transplantation, stem cells injected locally within the heart also are
observed within the lungs, spleen, liver, and kidney. Some studies have shown that, one day after
transplantation of neonatal cardiac myocytes into rat hearts, only 24% of the originally injected
cells remained in the heart. Given the small fraction of stem cells that remain within the heart after
injection and the multiple organs to which the stem cells migrate, it is imperative that better
methods of tracking stem cells be developed to determine the fate of these cells after
transplantation. Several potential methods have been developed to label and track stem cells in
animal models, including scintigraphy, PET, and MRI.25
There are many type of stem cell and it is unknown which cell types among the many different
types of stem/progenitor cells that have been studied to date, is most effective in a given
pathophysiological setting and very few studies have directly compared different cell types with
respect to the outcomes of therapy, those studies are difficult because they require that the dose
response relationships for each cell type be defined and compared 25,

Masculinity And Women
What does it mean to be male or female? To you, masculinity is probably playing sports, drinking
beer while watching football games, and wearing a suit and tie. Masculinity is probably short
hair and bulging muscles. To you, femininity is probably dressing up in fancy dresses and
jewelry, putting on a face of makeup, and going to the nail salon. Femininity is probably long,
flowing hair and a slender body. This is not the truth, however. These images have been fed to us
by society since the day we were born. Society has created these idealistic men and women. A

Whis is it considered humorous when men dress up as women or women dress up as men? Why
is it considered wrong for a person of a certain gender to wear the clothing of another? Why is it
that these people these other human beings are taunted for being themselves? The answer to
that is simple. These innocent actions are perceived as disgusting and wrong in the eyes of
society. The arrogance of society has prevented us from pursuing something that would
guarantee happiness. They would rather ridicule us than allow us to disturb their perfect little
world. Thousands of us hide away in the shadows of anxiety instead of revealing our true self
because we know how society would react. They would reject us and isolate us until we revert

The Rise of Modern Drama During the mid century of American theatre, the curtain rose to reveal a

Secret Trust Essay
Greg Allan justified the doctrine of secret trusts through analysis of the case law that, secret trusts
are enforced in defiance of the statutory formality requirements for testamentary dispositions. He
argued that equity will not allow s. 9 of the WA 1837, a statute enacted by Parliament to prevent
fraud, to be used to perpetrate fraud. 1 He provided us with case law to support the idea that any
failure by the secret trustee to perform the secret trust amounts to a fraud on the testator who are
deemed to rely on the secret trustee s promise when deciding his testamentary dispositions. []1
Two legal theories are considered in his analysis. He used the fraud theory to explain why secret
trusts are enforced while the dehors the will theory gives us a justification that why this is done
based on the idea that Will Act 1837 is immaterial to the enforcement of secret trusts. He also put
forward that the fraud theory and the dehors the will theory are inexorably linked . []1 He finally
concluded that case law authorities can be reconciled with each other so that a coherent
justification for the doctrine of secret trusts can be obtained. []1

Slavery Vs Indentured Servants Essay
Slavery and Indentured servitude were vital to the success of the British colonies in several
different ways. The difference between slaves and servants is that slaves were owed for life or
until their master decided to let them leave or they died. Indentured servants were granted
freedom, safe passage to the country and land ownership after working the length of their
contract, as previously agreed upon. One of the main reasons slaves and indentured servants were
so vital to the British colonies is that they were cheap and effective labor. They were able to work
in the fields planting, fertilizing, watering and picking the crop when it was ready to be harvested
for consumption or profit. Due to the fast harvests, the Americans were able to... Show more content

In 1705 there were not many indentures servants anymore. The British colonies started hiring
slaves due to the fact that they were owned for life and they didn t have to be let go due to their

slave laws. The Americans justified enslaving Africans in several ways. The Americans thought
less of them; that they weren t even human but personal property to do with as they pleased.
These views all came in to account due to their skin color being darker. The American s thought
they were evil since they were so dark complected. That they were stupid and couldn t make their

the women were sexually abused by their masters. Many of the slaves died due to malnourishment

The Grateful Dead fused country, blues, jazz, and bluegrass on electric instruments and held
acid tests where LSD was given to thousands of people and a concert was held all day. Janis
Joplin was also a major part of the psychedelic era. Blues also heavily influenced Janis, who

heavily emotional voice in songs such as Piece of My Heart and Ball and Chain where she sang
with her face contorted, sometimes stamping her feet, clutching the microphone with one hand,

focus. It addresses the common interest of the EU member states in some fields, while leaving out
those common interests in others (Weinar, 2011, psl. 7). So what makes some fields more attractive
to common interests?
Elspeth Guild states that at the heart of the EU there is and has always been an ambition and duty
to reconfigure the territory of the Member States in order to achieve economic aims (Guild, 2006,
psl. 631). Human rights were not part of the original schema of the EU (Guild, 2006, psl. 632). So
if we assume, that economic aims and not human rights are most important factors, we might argue,
that success in various Migration Policy agreements also depends on economic benefits. Putting this
in a simple terms, we might argue, that member states comply with Migration Policy goals if they
can get economical benefits from it. National states are always

How Does Rosalind Use Dramatic Irony In As You Like It
Both As You Like It and The Outing make use of verbal irony. In As You Like It, Rosalind
decides to take on a male persona in order to talk with Orlando openly. She gives herself the
name Ganymede and dresses up like a man. Later in the play, Orlando has a conversation with
Ganymede and does not realize that he is in fact Rosalind in disguise. Rosalind, dressed as
Ganymede, chides him to woo her as if she were Rosalind: What would you say to me now / an I
were your very very Rosalind? (IV. i. 74 75). Each time Rosalind insists that she is Rosalind is
ironic because she is simultaneously Rosalind and is playing the part of Rosalind. Orlando fails to
realize this. Similarly, in The Outing, Elaine does not realize who someone actually... Show more

In As You Like It, Celia s and Rosalind s friendship seems intimate and intense. They speak to
each other as if they are lovers and not friends. At the beginning of the play, Rosalind is upset
about her father s banishment. She and Celia have a minor fight where Celia accuses her of not
loving her fully: Herein I see thou lov st me not with the full weight I love thee (I. ii. 7 8). The two
characters quickly make up because of Rosalind s sacrifice. She says that she will ignore her
problems to focus on Celia. The characters speak to one another as if they are in a romantic
relationship although they are cousins. In addition to blurring the line between men and women,
Shakespeare blurs the line between platonic relationships and intimate ones. Larry Charles does
the same in The Outing with Jerry and George. In doing so, Shakespeare and Charles are able to
play with their respective characters and mislead the audience. Jerry and George say and do
several things throughout the episode that imply they are in a relationship. For instance, Jerry and
George bicker about minor things such as George s shirt and how clean a pear is. Although the
audience knows that Jerry and George are not

These requests are reviewed on an individual basis. Determinations are made based on the
patient s medical needs and the availability of services to meet these needs within the provider.
Tertiary Care Services All referrals to plan tertiary care centers are reviewed on an individual
basis. The member s medical needs and the availability of requested services within the non
tertiary care network are taken into consideration. Discharge Planning Patients who require
continuing care after release from the hospital are identified and the appropriate services are
arranged through participating home care, medical equipment and other providers.
COMPARISON AND REVIEW The facility s Utilization Management Program may need
continued review on a periodic basis in order to keep it on par with the model Utilization
Management Program as described by the HealthCare Advisory Council. In keeping with these
lines, the program is updated, reviewed and approved annually by a team from the HealthCare
Advisory Council itself. The different types of reviews and how they lead to improvements in the

The Dangers Of Heroism In Robinson Crusoe
Robinson Crusoe is a novel about a traveler which places the main character as a hero, and when
it comes to heroism, the reader wants to believe that what he reads is real. Everybody is willing
to forget its own reality when it comes to dive into an art, no matter if we are talking about
literary work, painting or cinematographic masterpieces. We are willing to accept what we read
as the truth and to forget every illogical element that could disturb us from our escape from life.
This is what these works are made of: to alter reality. It is clearly impossible for a human being to
survive this long on a desert island, especially if we follow every step of Robinson s journey.
Growing plants and taming animals seems so easy, such as building our own house out of a
wrecked ship that we reach by swimming. It is... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We consider that we read a narrator and not an author. The author is always non existent when it
comes to believe a book. So, when we read Robinson Crusoe, we read Robinson s words and not
Defoe s words. But how do we feel about Defoe being a character in this rewriting? It is as
painting him back in the picture and making him a character since the beginning. It feels as if
we are watching a battle confronting Foe against Foe and making him the culprit of all the
lying. And now that he is nothing but a character that ended up writing a book where he is his
own narrator, who is the first narrator ever? We could actually thought about Suzan right away,
since she is the main voice in Foe. But when we focus a little more, she is nothing more than a
silenced woman, pushed outside by a canon of a male authorship . What could have been seen as
a feminist book is taking a complete u turn: Suzan, who is first represented as a strong woman
surviving on an island and who is ready for her story to be heard, ends up being manipulated by
Foe who clearly makes her understand that he knows everything better than she

The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath
Sylvia Plath Research Paper Title
The Bell Jar place[s] [the] turbulent months[of an adolescent s life] in[to] mature perspective
(Hall, 30). In The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath uses parallelism, stream of consciousness, the motif of
renewal and rebirth, symbolism of the boundary driven entrapped mentally ill, and auto
biographical details to epitomize the mental downfall of protagonist, Esther Greenwood. Plath also
explores the idea of how grave these timeless and poignant issues can affect a fragile, aspiring
woman during an unforgiving period for women.
Sylvia Plath discretely places many similarities between herself and Greenwood, displaying a sense
of verisimilitude and depicting a true life experience of mental illness in her ... Show more content

The Bell Jar traps Esther stewing in her own sour air (Plath, 185). Esther is and forever will be
an outcast; the bell jar symbolizes the physical separation between her and society. Esther
emotionally cannot cope harmoniously with societal norms (Infobase, 12). Her repulsion of
others causes her to prefer to live a life seclusion. This glass barrier suffocates Esther causing her
own madness to ensue. Jars, specifically the bell jar, are clear. This allows society to peer through
and scrutinize Esther and her every flaw. Esther entrapped herself in a toxic environment which, to
her, seems almost impossible to escape. Once Esther escapes the bell jar, it remains suspended ,
only a few feet above [her] head , contributing an imminent thought of relapse (Plath 215).
Esther undergoes shock therapy in an effort to magically cure her; Esther begins emerging from an
enlightened womb. Esther s renewal parallels that of a newborn infant; this common literary motif
of transforming into the unknown for the better pinpoints Esther during her troubled hours. After a
turbulent period of questionable shock treatments, Esther seems to have entered a cured state
(Smith Bundzten, 35). Esther is, in a sense, reborn again. She is born twice patched, retreaded, and
approved for the road (Plath, 244). Her experiences have allowed to become stronger and gain

US Coast Guard
As the skipper of a vessel you have many responsibilities to reckon with, such as the safety of the
crew, the vessel s seaworthiness, weather, currents, navigation, attentiveness to other vessels and
the appropriate operation of the boat. But, boating can be fun, safe and rewarding if you take time
to learn how to safely operate your boat, and follow the rules. Learning the requisite laws and
regulations is a good starting point. The United States Coast Guard(USCG) distributes a publication
call Navigation Rules: International Inland. This publication, which can be ordered or downloaded
from the USCG website, is also referred to as the navigational Rules of the Road or Coloregs .
These regulations apply to vessels operating on international and inland waters, and include the rules

Drains (or scuppers) should be clear; pulpits or lifelines should be secure; all hoses and clamps
should be tight. Be sure you have all needed components and equipment for the boat, and that
they work things such as spare parts, lights, an appropriately sized anchor (that is attached to the
boat by intact line), and docking lines. These listed precautions only scratch the surface of all
the aspects of a good, sound boat. By the way, is your boat registered or documented as required
by your state or municipality? Speaking of equipment, safety equipment is an important part of
boating and shouldn t be overlooked. Some of the necessary pieces of equipment include: life
vests; sound making devices, such as horns and whistles; visual distress signals, such as flashing
strobes, flares, first aid supplies, and a deployable floating cushion. There should be an adequate
number of each type of safety equipment on board, the equipment should be in good working
order, and all passengers should know how to access and operate the equipment. Get a weather
forecast before you set out on your boat. It s good to know ahead of time, if the fair skies and seas

Book Analysis Of Olaudah Equiano
Reading Response 2: the child Olaudah Equiano becoming the man slave Gustavas Vasa.
Olaudah Equiano was a righteous man who was stolen from his home as a child, and made into
a slave. Through Equiano s time as a slave he endured many hardships and made many friends
who he would never see again due to death, or the slave trade. Equiano made a memoir to show
readers what it was like to be a slave, and to show his hardship through his own eyes without
showing himself as someone who is looking for compassion or compensation of any kind. I
believe Equiano just had a story to tell to let out all of the misery, and chaos he had held in for
many years. This reading response is focused on Equiano s transition from having a normal life to
becoming a slave.
Olaudah Equiano was born in Essaka in 1745 in Nigeria. Equiano s father was a chief in his
village, so the life of Equiano as a kid was comforting and satisfying. The slave trade in Guinea
spread all through Nigeria s coast. Equiano said that part of Africa, known by the name of
Guinea, to which the trade for slaves is carried on, extends along the coast above 3400 miles,
from Senegal to Angola, and includes a variety of kingdoms . (Equiano, p.356) Due to the high
frequency of slave trade around Equiano s village, while the adults would tend to their crops,
instead of playing games Equiano and other children would keep watch for men who would sneak
into their village and kidnap children for the slave trade. The men who would kidnap

Critiquing nursing research
Through the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct (NMC, 2004)
nurses supply high standards of care to patients and clients. One code nurses adhere to is clause 6
which pronounces nurses must maintain professional knowledge and competence, have a
responsibility to deliver care based on current evidence, best practice and validated research(NMC,
2004). Validated research involves critiquing and acquiring the skills of synthesis and critical
analysis, this enables nurses to distinguish the relationship between theory and practice in nursing
(Hendry Farley 1998).

Although the reference from 1967 is outdated it is reasonable the authors included it since it is the
only research paper found on their particular subject. However this causes the reader to speculate
the reason this subject was studied. Because the authors and the reader did not discover any other
literature concerned with the subject this, could indicate that the authors literature search was
comprehensive which could prove validity of the study. However it is wondered if other researches
believed case notes were irrelevant compared to other objects in the hospital or if this is ground
breaking research. Improvement could have been made by the authors including the search engines
they had used as this would allow replication and evaluation of the paper. The literature the authors
cited used a quantitative approach as did the authors themselves thus identifying and employing the
underlying theoretical framework and giving credibility to the paper. Cutlcliff Ward (2003)
suggests the literature review guides the researcher in discussing the results of the study in terms of
agreement or non agreement with other studies, however there is no evidence of evaluation of
material that supports or challenges the position being proposed .This suggests the researches
appear to have only reported the finding of other studies and not examined the

Coincidently I also did not know much about topics in the LGBT+ community either. • 5. Lab Report On Photosynthesis Daleigh Drgac Photosynthesis Lab Report Abstract These experiments show the different aspects that effect the rate of photosynthesis. Light intensity effects the rate of photosynthesis, the more intense the faster the rate. Different colors of light effect the speed of photosynthesis. Colors like white and blue cause it to go faster, while green is very slow. Lastly, there are different pigments in in photosynthesisthat control what lights are used for that plant. Introduction Photosynthesis is one of the most crucial biochemical processes on Earth. This process is used by eukaryotic plants and algae. They are able to be self sufficient by providing themselves with their own nutrients. This process uses sunlight water and CO2. The products of this process are glucose and oxygen. Which is then used in a process known as cellular respiration, whose products are water, CO2 and energy. The two processes are continuously working together. We completed three experiments on the topic of photosynthesis. In the first experiment, we tested the effect of light intensity by substituting NADPH with DPIP. DPIP starts out blue and changes to clear as it becomes reduced. Our hypothesis was the more intense the light is the faster photosynthetic process and the faster the rate of absorbency. Our null hypothesis was light has no effect on the rate of photosynthesis. The second experiment tested the effect of different colors, such as red, blue, green, white, and no light. Our ... • 6. A Brief Note On Tax Evasion And Tax Reporting: Tax Evasion Tax havens are sometimes called tax shelters, secrecy jurisdictions, international financial centers, or simply offshores. They are the locations of a growing shadow economy of unregulated global capital (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). As defined by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA), tax havens are jurisdictions with no or very low rates of tax, strict banking secret provisions, lack of transparency and efficient exchange of information with other countries (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). The British Virgin Islands has 400000 corporations and requires no financial or personal records to be kept so this makes it very easy to make larger transfers of money into Tax Havens undetected (Tax Fairness, 2015). So is evading taxes disguise income or assets through that country and fail to report to your home country s authority (Global Financial Integrity, 2015). For example, 53.3 billion Canadian dollars have been sent to Barbados in 2011; 80 billions dollars estimated revenue lost to tax avoidance in Canada and 24% of Canadian s foreign investments directed into Tax Havens (Tax Fairness, 2015). This shows how tax evasion is becoming popular as people try to find loopholes in the system and hide their assets with the help of lawyers and banks. Wicca and witchcraft are commonly amalgamated in Western popular culture and there are indeed some similarities between them in part because of their common origin in Paganism. However, I will argue that there are four major differences between Wiccaand witchcraftconcerning: their conceptions of the deities, their organizations, their ceremonies and practices, and their views on reincarnation. On a terminological note: by Paganism I mean spiritual paths characterized by nature worship and polytheism or pantheism (Yardley 329), which Wiccans and witches fall under; by Wicca I mean a form of worship, a spiritual system and also a system for developing and using psychic and magical power (Crowley 11); and by witchcraft, I mean focusing on the practice of magicand healing (Yardley 329).... Full Face Veil Essay 2.2 Supporters One of the main arguments of those who support a ban of full face veils is that they are a clear sign of a lack of emancipation and the disadvantage of Muslim women compared to their male counterparts. The veil, originally used to display modesty and prevent other men from being physically attracted to those who wear it, is called a symbol of the oppression of women. According to supporters of a ban, the idea that women have to be protected from lustful man by wearing full face veils is absurd as there are enough laws and security measures in place in order to prevent any kind of sexual assault. There are many films, TV shows, and any other media outlets that portray Hispanic women as such. Examples of these portrayals are Modern Family, Maid in Manhattan, and Girl in Progress. In each of these movies or shows, the main character appears as the stereotypical Hispanic woman. This is what many Hispanic women and girls believe that the world sees them as. They also believe that this is how they should look. This especially affects adolescent girls that identify as Hispanic. media use may play a role in the body image development of Latina adolescents (Schooler, 2008, p. 134). Most of the time when watching television, Latinas see a white woman and their beauty standards. The difference between white women in the media as opposed to Latin women is that there is a greater variety of how white women in the U.S. look. When a Latina finally sees someone who is Latina, they expect to see themselves, instead, they see Eva Mendes, long wavy hair, curvy, and petite. When young Latin women see this, they expect themselves to be the same way. If they don t look like that, it can result in a spoiled body image of themselves. Latina women in this sample tended to hold the lowest perceptions of their bodies, the highest awareness of Consumerism as a factor in the body/beauty standard, and scored high in racial identification (Poran, 2002, p. 79) Latin women understand who they are and when someone is of the same background. Many are also self conscious about their bodies, and that is likely due to the fact that not only are actresses on TV shows thin and curvy, but many commercials are about the newest way to lose weight rapidly, or what to buy to get curves. All women of any race have issues with body Image, but as a Latina, the media plays a big role in how Latinas form their body image. If you park your car at the bottom of these roads, then place it in neutral, your car will begin to travel upward. The same process works for water, tennis balls, pop cans or basically anything. Gravity hills seem like a dream come true, but this is all just smoke and mirrors, an optical illusion. The discoveries of these hills happened very gradually. There was no specific time or place. • 21. Analysis Of Quit Social Media Living in a world where social media are highly incorporated into our daily lives is associated with being detached from the things that matter, such as family, friends, and even human relationships in general. Moreover, in 2016, Cal Newport pointed out in his article, Quit Social Media. Your Career May Depend On It , from The New York Times, that people are now beginning to believe that social mediamay perhaps take a toll on their career. On the contrary, I find it ironic that people claim to be victimized by social mediawhen they are giving it authority over them and their lives by assuming they cannot stay in control of how they occupy their time. If common people permit social media to drain valuable work time, then they are one of two things; careless of their job, or they feel as though they are not in charge of their life. I believe that social media cannot agonize a career unless the person using it gives it the power to do so. On the other hand, Newport believes that social media can hurt your career by making someone counterproductive. The first point Newport makes in his paper is that social media can harm one s career. Additionally, Newport explains in their article the many ways in which he deems that social media can impact a career and work ethics. Newport acknowledges social media is engineered to be addictive and goes further to explain that it deteriorates the skill to focus on complex tasks without losing concentration. Within his second point, he says that, The more you use social media in the way it s designed to be used...the more your brain learns to crave a quick hint of stimulus... This is supported by general knowledge that social media is an addiction of sorts; once the brain becomes well acquainted with it, it will rely on it to generate happiness. Newport then goes on to say the idea of introducing social media into his life is as frightening as the idea of tobacco is to an athlete. Another point he makes is that commitment to cultivating your social media brand is a fundamentally passive approach to professional advancement. He asserts this view by declaring it simply diverts time from work to personal fulfilment. Newport concludes his paper by suggesting that in order to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Conduct literature establishes what female qualities are deemed socially acceptable, and, in the process, reduces women to objects that passively conform to these dictates (39). 1.2. Patriarchy in Conduct Literature It is important here what the author means by the word patriarchal , because this expression is widely used throughout her research as a key word comprising men s attitude towards women in the eighteenth century. Dobosiewicz presents the evolution of the very term, inclining mostly towards Sylvia Walby s understanding of it in Theorizing Patriarchy (1990). Walby states there that patriarchy is a system of social structures and practices in which men dominate, oppress and exploit women. (quoted from Dobosiewicz, p. 38 ). Furthermore, Dobosiewicz claims that the power of patriarchy lies in the biological differences between sexes. The weaker sex, that is women, has to care for different social tasks, primarily those of wife and mother (Dobosiewicz 38). Such view gave males a pretext for assigning women to the private sphere. In patriarchal discourse the meaning and role of women are perceived in relation to a norm which is male (Dobosiewicz 38). That is why social tasks of women are defined as different , different from that of men. Pros And Cons Of Stem Cell Therapy MECHANISMS OF STEM CELL One of the major obstacles in progressing to large scale clinical trials of cardiac stem cell therapy is the ongoing debate regarding the mechanism of action by which stem cell therapy leads to cardiac repair. The classic idea that provided the primary motivation for stem cell therapy is that delivery of the appropriate stem cells would repair a damaged heart via active myocardial regeneration resulting from transdifferentiation of the administered stem cells.19 Some researchers believe that exogenous stem cells may also stimulate proliferation of endogenous cardiac precursors or stem cells through neovascularization or paracrine signaling actions. Given the small fraction of stem cells that remain within the heart after injection and the multiple organs to which the stem cells migrate, it is imperative that better methods of tracking stem cells be developed to determine the fate of these cells after transplantation. Several potential methods have been developed to label and track stem cells in animal models, including scintigraphy, PET, and MRI.25 There are many type of stem cell and it is unknown which cell types among the many different types of stem/progenitor cells that have been studied to date, is most effective in a given pathophysiological setting and very few studies have directly compared different cell types with respect to the outcomes of therapy, those studies are difficult because they require that the dose response relationships for each cell type be defined and compared 25, ... Secret Trust Essay Greg Allan justified the doctrine of secret trusts through analysis of the case law that, secret trusts are enforced in defiance of the statutory formality requirements for testamentary dispositions. He argued that equity will not allow s. 9 of the WA 1837, a statute enacted by Parliament to prevent fraud, to be used to perpetrate fraud. 1 He provided us with case law to support the idea that any failure by the secret trustee to perform the secret trust amounts to a fraud on the testator who are deemed to rely on the secret trustee s promise when deciding his testamentary dispositions. He used the fraud theory to explain why secret trusts are enforced while the dehors the will theory gives us a justification that why this is done based on the idea that Will Act 1837 is immaterial to the enforcement of secret trusts. He also put forward that the fraud theory and the dehors the will theory are inexorably linked . The EU member states have certainly been wary of ceding too much of powers up to the EU, creating a de facto European space of 27 different approaches to migration policy, allowing only for minimum harmonization (Weinar, 2011, psl. 6 7). That clearly shows that migration is very sensitive policy and is strongly influenced by political decisions within member states. The main shortcoming of the European migration policy framework is its ambiguity and dispersed focus. It addresses the common interest of the EU member states in some fields, while leaving out those common interests in others (Weinar, 2011, psl. 7). So what makes some fields more attractive to common interests? Elspeth Guild states that at the heart of the EU there is and has always been an ambition and duty to reconfigure the territory of the Member States in order to achieve economic aims (Guild, 2006, psl. 631). Human rights were not part of the original schema of the EU (Guild, 2006, psl. 632). So if we assume, that economic aims and not human rights are most important factors, we might argue, that success in various Migration Policy agreements also depends on economic benefits. • 46. The Bell Jar Sylvia Plath Sylvia Plath Research Paper Title The Bell Jar place[s] [the] turbulent months[of an adolescent s life] in[to] mature perspective (Hall, 30). In The Bell Jar, Sylvia Plath uses parallelism, stream of consciousness, the motif of renewal and rebirth, symbolism of the boundary driven entrapped mentally ill, and auto biographical details to epitomize the mental downfall of protagonist, Esther Greenwood. Plath also explores the idea of how grave these timeless and poignant issues can affect a fragile, aspiring woman during an unforgiving period for women. Sylvia Plath discretely places many similarities between herself and Greenwood, displaying a sense of verisimilitude and depicting a true life experience of mental illness in her ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Bell Jar traps Esther stewing in her own sour air (Plath, 185). Esther is and forever will be an outcast; the bell jar symbolizes the physical separation between her and society. Esther emotionally cannot cope harmoniously with societal norms (Infobase, 12). Her repulsion of others causes her to prefer to live a life seclusion. This glass barrier suffocates Esther causing her own madness to ensue. Jars, specifically the bell jar, are clear. This allows society to peer through and scrutinize Esther and her every flaw. Esther entrapped herself in a toxic environment which, to her, seems almost impossible to escape. Once Esther escapes the bell jar, it remains suspended , only a few feet above [her] head , contributing an imminent thought of relapse (Plath 215). Esther undergoes shock therapy in an effort to magically cure her; Esther begins emerging from an enlightened womb. Esther s renewal parallels that of a newborn infant; this common literary motif of transforming into the unknown for the better pinpoints Esther during her troubled hours. After a turbulent period of questionable shock treatments, Esther seems to have entered a cured state (Smith Bundzten, 35). Esther is, in a sense, reborn again. She is born twice patched, retreaded, and approved for the road (Plath, 244). Her experiences have allowed to become stronger and gain stability ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. US Coast Guard As the skipper of a vessel you have many responsibilities to reckon with, such as the safety of the crew, the vessel s seaworthiness, weather, currents, navigation, attentiveness to other vessels and the appropriate operation of the boat. But, boating can be fun, safe and rewarding if you take time to learn how to safely operate your boat, and follow the rules. Learning the requisite laws and regulations is a good starting point. The United States Coast Guard(USCG) distributes a publication call Navigation Rules: International Inland. This publication, which can be ordered or downloaded from the USCG website, is also referred to as the navigational Rules of the Road or Coloregs . These regulations apply to vessels operating on international and inland waters, and include the rules ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Drains (or scuppers) should be clear; pulpits or lifelines should be secure; all hoses and clamps should be tight. Be sure you have all needed components and equipment for the boat, and that they work things such as spare parts, lights, an appropriately sized anchor (that is attached to the boat by intact line), and docking lines. These listed precautions only scratch the surface of all the aspects of a good, sound boat. By the way, is your boat registered or documented as required by your state or municipality? Speaking of equipment, safety equipment is an important part of boating and shouldn t be overlooked. Some of the necessary pieces of equipment include: life vests; sound making devices, such as horns and whistles; visual distress signals, such as flashing strobes, flares, first aid supplies, and a deployable floating cushion. There should be an adequate number of each type of safety equipment on board, the equipment should be in good working order, and all passengers should know how to access and operate the equipment. • 48. Book Analysis Of Olaudah Equiano Reading Response 2: the child Olaudah Equiano becoming the man slave Gustavas Vasa. Olaudah Equiano was a righteous man who was stolen from his home as a child, and made into a slave. Through Equiano s time as a slave he endured many hardships and made many friends who he would never see again due to death, or the slave trade. Equiano made a memoir to show readers what it was like to be a slave, and to show his hardship through his own eyes without showing himself as someone who is looking for compassion or compensation of any kind. I believe Equiano just had a story to tell to let out all of the misery, and chaos he had held in for many years. This reading response is focused on Equiano s transition from having a normal life to becoming a slave. Olaudah Equiano was born in Essaka in 1745 in Nigeria. Equiano s father was a chief in his village, so the life of Equiano as a kid was comforting and satisfying. The slave trade in Guinea spread all through Nigeria s coast. Equiano said that part of Africa, known by the name of Guinea, to which the trade for slaves is carried on, extends along the coast above 3400 miles, from Senegal to Angola, and includes a variety of kingdoms . (Equiano, p.356) Due to the high frequency of slave trade around Equiano s village, while the adults would tend to their crops, instead of playing games Equiano and other children would keep watch for men who would sneak into their village and kidnap children for the slave trade. The men who would kidnap ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 49. Critiquing nursing research Through the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) code of professional conduct (NMC, 2004) nurses supply high standards of care to patients and clients. One code nurses adhere to is clause 6 which pronounces nurses must maintain professional knowledge and competence, have a responsibility to deliver care based on current evidence, best practice and validated research(NMC, 2004). Validated research involves critiquing and acquiring the skills of synthesis and critical analysis, this enables nurses to distinguish the relationship between theory and practice in nursing (Hendry Farley 1998). This assignment will critique the research paper Patients case notes: look but don t touch written by Bebbington, Parkin, James, Chichester and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although the reference from 1967 is outdated it is reasonable the authors included it since it is the only research paper found on their particular subject. However this causes the reader to speculate the reason this subject was studied. Because the authors and the reader did not discover any other literature concerned with the subject this, could indicate that the authors literature search was comprehensive which could prove validity of the study. However it is wondered if other researches believed case notes were irrelevant compared to other objects in the hospital or if this is ground breaking research. Improvement could have been made by the authors including the search engines they had used as this would allow replication and evaluation of the paper. The literature the authors cited used a quantitative approach as did the authors themselves thus identifying and employing the underlying theoretical framework and giving credibility to the paper. Cutlcliff Ward (2003) suggests the literature review guides the researcher in discussing the results of the study in terms of agreement or non agreement with other studies, however there is no evidence of evaluation of material that supports or challenges the position being proposed .This suggests the researches appear to have only reported the finding of other studies and not examined the ...
