Copyright law protects intellectual property like photographs, logos, and other original creative works by giving the creator sole rights over its use and distribution. The creator's permission is required for others to use their work or they must properly attribute it. Privacy laws like the Data Protection Act aim to keep people's personal information like comments, images, contact details, private. Defamation law prevents harming someone's reputation through false printed or spoken statements. Child protection laws regulate what can be sold to or shown to children to shield them from harmful content, products, or habits. Ethical standards set by organizations like the ASA ensure marketing and websites are truthful and not misleading to users.

Legal, ethical, and societal issues in media and information encompass the challenges and dilemmas related to the creation, dissemination, and consumption of media content and information in a digital age. This includes concerns about privacy, misinformation, copyright infringement, censorship, bias, and their impact on individuals, society, and the law.
"Legal, ethical, and societal issues in media and information" encompass a complex landscape of challenges and considerations at the intersection of technology, communication, and society. These issues have gained prominence with the rapid evolution of digital media and the internet. In this 2000-character overview, we'll delve into key aspects of each category:
1. **Legal Issues**:
- **Copyright Infringement**: Protecting intellectual property rights is a major concern, with issues like piracy, plagiarism, and unauthorized distribution of content.
- **Privacy Laws**: Laws surrounding the collection, storage, and sharing of personal data are constantly evolving. Data breaches and surveillance concerns have led to stringent regulations like GDPR and CCPA.
- **Cybercrime**: Legal challenges include hacking, online fraud, and cyberbullying. Governments and organizations are working to combat these threats.
2. **Ethical Issues**:
- **Fake News**: Misinformation and disinformation pose ethical dilemmas. The responsibility of media outlets to fact-check and provide accurate information is paramount.
- **Bias and Objectivity**: Media bias, whether political, social, or cultural, can influence public opinion. Ethical journalism seeks to maintain objectivity and fairness.
- **AI and Automation**: The use of AI in content generation and decision-making raises questions about accountability and the ethical use of technology.
3. **Societal Issues**:
- **Digital Divide**: Unequal access to information and technology exacerbates social inequalities. Bridging this gap is crucial for inclusive information access.
- **Censorship and Freedom of Speech**: Balancing the need to combat hate speech and misinformation with preserving free expression is a contentious issue.
- **Media Literacy**: Lack of critical thinking skills can lead to the spread of misinformation. Promoting media literacy is vital in the digital age.
4. **Emerging Trends**:
- **Deepfakes**: Advanced AI-generated content blurs the line between truth and fiction, challenging trust in media.
- **Social Media Impact**: Social platforms can amplify both positive and negative aspects of information dissemination, contributing to echo chambers and online radicalization.
- **Algorithmic Bias**: Algorithms that curate content and recommendations can reinforce biases, affecting what people see and believe.

I’m attaching some info on the agency I work for. I work remotely at New Heights Middle School in Jefferson SC as a behavioral health counselor. I have a LMSW; I provide counseling services to kids from age 12-14. I was drawn to this agency due to my desire to work with kids. My prior job was at palmetto pee dee behavioral health. The kids there had mostly conduct disorders. At CareSouth I can focus a lot on actual counseling and less case management. They also pay for ceus and provide clinical supervision. My self-care that I practice is just doing something nice for myself once a week. Because sometimes you give so much of yourself to others you will forget about you.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.

1. Legal and Ethical
Copy Rights is a mechanism for protection of someone’s work, the work which is created by
someone else is their own intellectual property which means that no-one can simply copy your
work and say it’s theirs, they either have to ask for permission to use that persons work which
would more than likely cost a lot of money or if using someone’s work they have to give the
reference so that people know that it’s not that persons work and it belongs to someone else, the
good side of it is that it’s a form of commercial. However when it comes to the intellectual property
you have to protect the work which has a commercial value e.g. website design, photographs,
comments, images, data etc. Legal and Ethical is about protecting yourself and your brand, there are
many laws and regulations rules exist to protect the online society. You can sue someone who uses
(borrows) your intellectual property.
The example of my own intellectual property. I’ve taken a photograph and I’ve edited that photo is
Photoshop using many tools; I have also used my own logo and created an image with a commercial
value. All copy rights reserved. Therefore my work is protected by a law of copy Right and no one
has a right to copy my work, and if so they would have to ask for permission.
Privacy- The Data Protection Act, Make sure that the information are private, comments, images,
emails, subscription, data, phone number, address and D.O.B. Internet privacy involves the right of
personal privacy concerning storing and displaying the information on the internet. The cookie law
2. is a new European privacy legislation which provides commercial privacy compliance tools and
services under the Optanon brand name.
Defamation- is a communication of a false statement which might harm an individual’s reputation,
product, company, government, religion or nation
The spoken defamation called slander means hurting an individual with words, and defamation in
other media might mean printed words or images. You have to be careful what you call people and
how you treat them also be careful what you say or write about person’s personality/character.
Libel, truth is not defence for invading someone else’s privacy.
Child Protection- The law protects the children under the age of 18 in many ways. One of things
which the law protects the underage from are some bad harmful habits such as smoking, you’re not
allowed to buy tobacco under the age of 18 and you’re going to be asked for the proof of age if you
look under the age of 25. Similar rule applies to Energy Drink Company, Children under the age of
16 are not allowed to purchase any product that might possibly harm them, and Energy drinks
contain some ingredients that might be harmful for children such as Taurine, if you drink too much
of them it can damage your liver and your heart, that’s why energy drinks are appropriate for
children under the age of 16.
Ethical (ASA) – ASA stands for Advertising standards authority, products and services. It doesn’t apply to
my entire website but mostly to the products which I’ve created. The law sets principals and ethical
standards; I had to be truthful about my website and products I’ve created otherwise the website could
be taken down.
