1. Forms and
conventions
How I used my music
magazine to develop and/or
challenge forms and
conventions of real media
products?
2. Production
I check out my peers work by looking at various
different magazine type such as NME and Kerrang. I did
this because I thought it would give me a clear idea of
how I could layout my magazine, I found out that you
need a interesting colour scheme to draw your
audience in and use the right images the associate with
my product.
the programmes that I used to produce my magazine
where adobe photoshop which made the pictures
have better quality then the original shot.
3. Camerawork
the camerawork that I used was inspired by looking at the
NME magazine which helped me when I was taking the
shots and it gave me a clear indication of the camera
angles and the clothing style that I need to have to sell my
magazine. I also created a survey on surveymonkey.com
asking what the public wanted to see in magazine
The camera that I used was a Nixon D40X with made the
image resolution look so much more official a professional. I
used many different variations of the camerawork so it
would have greater effect on the audience. I also used the
angles I did because I think they have a better effect on the
audience than most camerawork.
5. Layout
For my front page I have used a the NME template with has
a banner and the bottom and many cover lines on the
side, this follows the root of the eye which will draw the
audience to my magazine. I made my contents Page look
cluttered but it was an organised mess with made it look like
there is a lot of information in the magazine. My double
page spread has a big image of the main subject which
has pull-quotes and on the other page it has the interview
about the artist.
6. Colour scheme & fonts
in my research I found out that the indie culture used a
variety of colours with suit the whole target market this is
called neutral colours. I chose red black and white, I chose
red because it relates to passion of music and black is
related to the dark emotions and white is the colour of
there clothing.
The fonts that I used where the approiate fonts that would
appeal to my target market as indie is a relax genre so the
fonts don’t jump out at you like rock/metal.
