Learning theories help teachers make informed decisions about suitable learning approaches for their diverse students. Teachers can apply different learning styles and methods to influence different students' abilities and levels. Learning theories also help teachers choose ways to improve and sustain learning by considering students' developmental levels. Furthermore, learning theories expand teachers' understanding of how information is used and knowledge created, helping them find the best techniques for different learning outcomes.
The Teacher Researcher Programme operated by the General Teaching Council for Scotland has offered practitioners the opportunity to carry out action research into issues identified by the teachers themselves. This seminar [these seminars] will enable two of the researchers to share the outcomes of their research into aspects of learning and teaching in primary schools.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

The French Revolution, which began in 1789, was a period of radical social and political upheaval in France. It marked the decline of absolute monarchies, the rise of secular and democratic republics, and the eventual rise of Napoleon Bonaparte. This revolutionary period is crucial in understanding the transition from feudalism to modernity in Europe.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

Learning Theories Implications
1. TSL2063R QUIZ 1
1. Implications of Learning Theories for Classroom teachers?
Bylearningtheories,teachers willbe abletomake awell-informeddecisionsaboutthe mostsuitableapproach
of learningin theirclassroom. Aseach learnersis unique individual withcomplex backgrounds, teachermust be able
toassisteachof themtoattaintheirgoalineducations.Ithelpsteacherstoapply differentlearningstylesand methods
to succeedininfluencing differentstudents’ learningabilitiesandcognitivelevels.Forexample,behaviouristlearning
theories can be applied in classroom as its environmental stimuli can be manipulated and observed directly.
By learningtheories, teacherswill alsobe able to make more knowledgeable choicestoimprove and sustain
learning. With different theories of adaptation and various guidelines to a learner’s developmental level, it allows
teachers to assist each students in having similar opportunities to advance to a higher understanding of knowledge.
Learning theories provides framework about how information is used and how knowledge is created, thus it helps
teacherstofindthe bestsuited techniques fordifferentlearningoutcomes. Forexample, throughaccurate continuous
practice, repetition and rewards to students, teachers will be able to increase students understanding of subject.
Furthermore, teachers will be able to expand their understanding, appreciate and develop their learning
beliefs. Old theories are still adequate to describe the kinds of learning beliefs that educators witness even in our
hyper-connected world. At present, online learning is one of the main approach throughwhich humanrelationships
are createdand maintained, anddue tothisfact, teachersshoulddevelop theirbeliefsof understandingandabilities
inusingtechnology. Withoutdoubt,teachersnowadaysneedtomastervarious virtualinteractiontoolsandonlywith
learning theories that they will become more efficient and successful teachers.
2. If you were a behaviourist, how would you set up your teaching environment?
If I am a behaviourist,myteachingenvironment will be a teacher-controlledenvironmentwhich focusingon
mycapabilitytopredictandcontrol studentsandmanipulate the environmenttoshape mystudent’sbehaviour.Iwill
make connections between specific stimuli with appropriate responses and in efforts to modify the subject’s
behaviour, schedulingof positive andnegative reinforcements will be appliedthroughoutlessontofurthermotivate
students.
Some illustration of myteachingapproachesinmyclassroomare inwhichIwill rewardstudentswithasticker
for each meaningful comments the student makes (continuous reinforcement). I will give out special stickers each
Thursday to students who made comments throughout the week (fixed interval reinforcement). On a random day
eachweek,Iwill give outdifferentstickers tostudentwhohaveactivelyparticipatedinclassroomdiscussion (variable
interval reinforcement). I may also reward a student with a sticker after the students contribute three meaningful
comments in classroom discussion(fixed ratio reinforcement). A studentcan also receive a sticker after the student
contributes three to ten meaningful comments (variable ratio reinforcement). Similar approach with different
incentives (stimulus) will be applied to further encourage my students to succeed in their future assessments.
In contrast, negative reinforcements will be applied to students if their behaviour is undesirable or required
improvements. For example, if students in my class does not listen quietly in lesson, punishments such as extra
homeworkwill be assignedtothemforthatnight. Otherexample, ifstudentsdidnotmanage tofinishtheirgiventasks
within a certain timeframe, breaks will be amended or they will not receive any sticker for the day. If it comes to a
more serious situation such as always making loudnoises or fighting with classmates, scolding will be done as being
reprimanded or lectured is something many students would like to avoid.
With the belief thatrewardedbehaviours are more likelytobe repeated while punishedbehavioursare less
likelytobe repeated, myteachingenvironmentwillemphasise the studentstobe engagedonthe process, notsimply
passive listeners. Random reinforcement will be arrange and prepare accordingly in order to adjust my student’s
performance up until the goal is finally reached.
