2. FIRST
•Consider what measures to take for every student;
Examples include untimed exams, a flexible attendance policy,
use of a recorder in class, maintaining a shared set of class notes
that can be accessed on line, extra review time, and opportunities
for extra credit.
• Offer a wide range of options for studying, test taking and learning
to all of my students.
3. OTHER METHODS:
Create predictable lessons,
Appoint of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning modes,
Introduce new material in familiar contexts,
Frame lessons, and encourage students to complete complex tasks,
Make lesson materials available outside of class,
Use contrasting colors or fonts to emphasize for example: on
differences between morphology and syntax.
4. OTHER SPECIFIC PRACTICES:
Allowing extended time on tests and assignments.
Allowing the student to dictate written work to a recording device.
Allowing the student to take the test on a computer.
Allowing the student to define their in-class participation or to
decline to read aloud in front of others.
Allow them to prepare input in advance.
Enlisting the help of a fellow student to scribe will boost their skills
and foster relationships through the target language.
5. By creating a variety of opportunities for my students to learn and
demonstrate what they have learned, I will make my class more
accessible to all students, and by dialoguing with students with LD
and providing accommodations, they will achieve a lifelong
relationship with a foreign language.
