The Success Of A Business Owner
Being an entrepreneur is about believing in something and standing for what you believe in. The
reasons entrepreneurs start businesses is to be successful as well as to make money. No one ever
starts a business with the intent to fail, however if a business does fail most entrepreneurs learn
from their mistakes and try again. The mentality of successful business owner is an I will not lose
attitude that motivates that person to not accept failure as an option.
Having what it takes to survive and succeed is a core value of entrepreneurs, making it your civil
duty to find solutions to problems people face on a daily basis. In my research I think the main
objective of an entrepreneur, is to change the world in a way that will benefit everyone in one way
or another. This is the entrepreneurs right and clear intention to make sure they are operating from
a good intent and integrity. Entrepreneurs that have achieved a pinnacle of success often ask
themselves, How can I help? or better yet you ask yourself, How can I serve? . These are the the
main motivating factors an entrepreneur needs to create a plan of action.
Any entrepreneur that is successful in business has an instinctive ability to see problems and needs
that people have as an opportunity to apply their entrepreneurial capabilities to come up with
solutions and satisfy a person s problems or needs.
Another great example are social media entrepreneurs who

My First Day At School Essay
On the morning of September 1st, 2016, I woke up to my alarm excited and ready for my first day
of school. I quickly got dressed and ran down the stairs to get some breakfast. I ate my breakfasts
meal, and since there was time to kill before we were allowed to enter school, I pet my dogs and
just layed down in my warm, soft blankets. I wish I could bring my dogs and my blankets to school
with me, I thought to myself, but I know school is a time for learning, not for sleeping and
relaxing. Once it was around 7:25 AM, my dad drove me to school. I met my friends in front of
the school by the big tree in the front of the campus, and we talked about how weird it was going
to be going to a whole new school with people we knew and people we didn t know. We also were
talking about which teachers we thought we were going to get. We had many other discussions for
the rest of the time we had to hang out together. but I can t remember what they were about.
Quite a few minutes later, the bell that signaled that we could enter school rang, and we all
scrambled inside to get in line to get our schedules. I got in line, and waited until I got to the
front. Once I did, I said my first and last name to the person and they gave me my schedule. I
looked it over, and ran to find my friends so I could see if I had any classes with them. I had some
of my them in my classes, but not many. For the remainder of the morning we had to hang out, I
wandered around the school, checking things

Obstacles In The Count Of Monte Cristo
A person cannot be defined by their physical characteristics, but instead by the way they react and
recover to the obstacles that are placed in front of them. During the French Revolution, many
French authors, such as Alexandre Dumas, wrote numerous novels in order to educate readers
about their historical heritage. This reality is exemplified in Alexandre Dumas novel; the novel is
about a wrongly convicted man who is determined to strike his vengeance on those who
incarcerated him. During the time this book was written, the most popular genre was D Artagnan
romances which were based off of historical events and people. Although what transpires within The
Count of Monte Cristo is fictitious, the hardships the protagonist and other characters face, is
indeed comparable to those of which many have endured for centuries. Alexandre Dumas utilizes
the main character of the story to overcome multiple complications which exemplifies the
importance of responding and persevering through monumental obstacles.
Throughout the novel, the protagonist, Edmond Dantes, is continuously having to make decisions
that most people would find very uncomfortable in dealing with. At the ... Show more content on

in a calm collected manner by the Count, he suggests he is capable of reviving Maximillian s love.
To Maximillian s amazement, the Count does succeed in resurrecting Maximillian s. The Count of

Active Hope By Joan Macy Quotes
Active Hope, written by Joan Macy, is an interesting read that discusses many topics regarding
social and environmental change in the modern world. Joan Macy employs many ideas to engage
the reader into her point of view and outlines the book in a very different way that distinguishes it
from other books.
(Quote 1) To begin with Reflecting on Success on page 226; this part of the book inspired me.
Her quote If the change we want doesn t happen in our lifetime, does that mean we will never
experience success? For the encouraging boost we get when we know we re moving forward,
we need to find markers of progress we can spot more easily and often. Not only is this quote
important but it can be relevant to many things we live through and foresee daily. For example,
if one is trying to achieve a certain fitness goal, it is not the brightest outlook to just select a very
far fetched goal and not track small points of progress beforehand. In fact, if one was to do such a
thing, it would be rather challenging since frustration and injury would occur before one could even
see any results since the results are not being analyzed closely enough. ... Show more content on

Without closely analyzing certain key points, success is rather construed to be a challenging task.
Personally, if I was to complete a task at hand, it is best to try to tackle the task through breaking
it down into small goals. Whether it is an essay I am writing or a 2 mile run, it is important to
recognize this relativity. I think if we can apply this to the issues and problems within the world of
environmentalism, then hope and change as Macy believes will occur, however, on a relatively
microscopic scale not foreseeable with the human

My Experience In Life And Different Experiences In My Life
All of us have a story to tell. Something that separates us from others. We may have similar
experiences, but what makes us different is how we handle them. In my life I have cherished
memories, hopes for my future, and heartaches that may never leave. Life can get complicated, but
it s all about figuring out who you are and who you want to be.
I would say I had a pretty good childhood. It was filled with good memories, great laughs, and lots
of fun. When I was 3, my parents divorced, but I can t really remember them ever being together
so it s never been an issue. At my mom s house I always spent a lot of time at my grandma s house
playing with my cousins. It was like having a bunch of brothers and sisters. We still have great
relationships between each other, even now in high school. On my dad s side, his family lives in
California so I don t get to see them as much, but the friends we hang out with are practically
family. Our neighbors have three kids from the ages 1 6. I consider them as three more siblings
pretty much. It s very warm and comfortable just like at my mom s. As for my school life, from
1st grade to 6th grade I went to the Catholic school here in Thorp. I had some pretty good years
there. Because there were only about 10 of us, it felt like another little family. In 7th grade is
when I transferred to the Public school. I think because I d gotten used to being in smaller groups,
coming to the Public school was a big deal with the class sizes being larger.

Huffington post. This is a outrageous number of died over objects that are already killing people

It talks about all of the actions that ronald reagan did to start the war on drugs in the U.S. The War
on Drugs began in June 1971 when U.S. Pres. Richard Nixon declared drug abuse to be the public
enemy number one and increased federal funding for drug control agencies and drug treatment

The Choice And The Notebook
The purpose of this paper is to write about the similarities and difference of two movies: The
Choice and The Notebook. Nicholas Sparks really knows how to set a romantic/emotional, but
also creates a very predictable love story plot line. You could predict the ending before the movie
started with only knowing who the movie was based on a Nicholas Sparksnovel. There is always a
boy who falls for a girl and has to work extremely hard to get her. Then, something happens, but in
the end they are always together. The Notebook and The Choice both show how life is about
choices, you have to fight for what you love, and the good guy wins; but, in The Choice the ending
will leave you wanting to know more about these characters and their story and that is why The...

Thyroid Cancer Essay
The thyroid gland is the gland that makes and stores hormones that help regulate the heart rate,
blood pressure, body temperature, and metabolism. Thyroid hormones are essential for the function
of every cell in the body. They help regulate growth and the rate of chemical reactions in the body.
Thyroid hormones also help children grow and develop. The thyroidgland is located in the lower
part of the neck, below the Adam s apple, wrapped around the trachea. It has the shape of a
butterfly with two lobes attached to one another by a middle part called the isthmus. The thyroid
uses iodine, a mineral found in some foods and in iodized salt, to make its hormones. The two most
important thyroid hormones are thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine... Show more content on

Follicular tumors, on the other hand, grow only on one side of the gland. These tumors develop
in the hormone producing cells and account for 30% 50% of all thyroid cancers (Thackery
1057). Medullary thyroid tumors account for 5% 7% of all thyroid cancers, and are usually
uncommon. Like papillary tumors, they grow on one or both sides of the gland. Anaplastic
tumors, though extremely rare, develop on either side of the thyroid gland and spread rapidly to
other parts of the body. It account for only 2% of all thyroid cancers but is the fastest growing, and
most aggressive thyroid cancer type (Thackery 1057).
The aggressiveness of each type of thyroid cancer is different. There are four main stages in each
of the types of thyroid cancer except for anaplastic cancer (Rubin 91). In the stage I of papillary
and follicular thyroid cancer, the cancer is located only in the thyroid and may be found in one
or both of the lobes. In stage II if the patients are younger than 45 years of age, the cancer has
spread beyond the thyroid. But if the patient is older than 45 years of age, the cancer is only in
the thyroid and is larger than 1 centimeter. In stage III, the cancer is usually found in patients
older than 45 years of age and has spread outside of the thyroid or has spread to the lymph nodes
but not outside of the neck. In stage IV, the cancer is again usually found in patients over the age
of 45. It most likely has spread to other parts of the

Carbon Dioxide And Its Impact On Society
Everyday society evolves, new technologies and ideas are born, although life seems perfect there
are many reasons to be scared. Ever since the industrial revolution started the production of carbon
dioxide has gone up in tremendous quantities. Because of this increase in greenhouse gases the
earth has experienced drastic changes. These changes are the reason for why humanity should be
scared, humans have control of many things but weather and natural disasters are not something we
can control. On the other hand, society has taken steps to diminish the production of carbon dioxide,
although this process may take time to make a significant impact it provides humanity with a
reason to feel like our situation will improve. It is easy to feel good about these current efforts

Racism In Warriors DonT Cry By Melba Patillo Beals
In the 1950s to the 1960s, there were 3,959 lynching of black men, women and children, the
brutal deaths took place in only 12 states in the south of America. All of which were mainly
because of racism. Melba Pattilo Beals wrote Warriors Don t Cry to share her experience of
racism when integrating into Central High. This book is to show the harsh reality of the
suffering African Americans had to go through when battling racism. It shows that you should
do what is right even if it is against society s standards. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, the
importance of historical events greatly impacts the course of the story and the lives of the
people in it. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, written by Melba Patillo Beals, it first begins off
with the U.S Supreme court ruling the segregation of schools to be unconstitutional. Three years
later, there were 517 African Americans eligible to attend Central High School, of them only
eighty expressed interest in wanting to do so. After that, of those eighty kids only 17 were sent to
the first of Central High School. Two days later the students from Little Rock try to enter their
new school, but are turned away by the national guard. Not until September 1960, did the NAACP,
with its tenacious legal work, force Central High to open to integration once more but only two
black students were permitted entry (Warriors Don t Cry, Beals, 220) In the 1960s through the

Criminal Issues In The Criminal Justice System
Throughout history, there has been only a handful of crimes and criminal issues that reached the
span of not just a city, state or country but the entire world. These criminal issues include crimes
like drug trafficking, human trafficking, and terrorist attacks. Interestingly, the fundamental
reasoning behind these types of crimesvaries greatly. For example, some of these crimes are
motivated immensely by money, greed, and power (power over people, government, and politics
etc.) However, their motives stem from things like the offender s political ideology, religion, and at
times, traditions. These types of crimes affect numerous aspects of the criminal justicesystems
around the world such as the way we prosecute, detain and interrogate suspects.

Essay English 2
The Iroquois Constitution purposes and principles reflect with the sociological function and rules
of my household which will influence me when I become a parent. The Iroquois constitution is seen
as a way to promote peace within the five nations. They demonstrated principles and purpose
through always speaking the truth to a fellow nation, to not be easily hurt by criticism or angered,
through always praising their Gods for the things they have, and to include anyone who agrees to
the constitution, which connects to the sociological function. The rules of my household are
similar in that we are to always be truthful, to always show appreciation for what we have, and to
never let others affect one s values. This will inspire me for when I become a parent. We will see
how the purposes and principles of the Iroquois connect with the sociological function.
Sociological function is represented through the story as they talk about the principles and purpose
in which each nation in the constitution must follow . In the story they talk about the spreading of
their nation and how anyone who wishes to join their constitution will be accepted with open arms.

Essay on Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes
Langston Hughes was one of the first black men to express the spirit of blues and jazz into words.
An African American Hughes became a well known poet, novelist, journalist, and playwright.
Because his father emigrated to Mexico and his mother was often away, Hughes was brought up in
Lawrence, Kansas, by his grandmother Mary Langston. Her second husband
(Hughes s grandfather) was a fierce abolitionist. She helped Hughes to see the cause of social
justice. As a lonely child Hughes turned to reading and writing, publishing his first poems while in

Hughes bought a house in Harlem, where he spent the rest of his life. Hughes still feared for the
future of urban blacks. His point of view became immense and included another book of poetry,
almost a dozen children s books, several opera libretti, four books translated from French and
Spanish, two collections of stories, another novel, a history of the NAACP and another volume of
autobiography, I Wonder As I Wander (1956). He also continued his work in the theater, pioneering
in the gospel musical play. Blues began in the south and slowly made its way into the great cities of
the North. As the great migration began people took what they knew in south to the north. This
included music. Langston Hughes living in Harlem was caught up in the new rhythm of music and
based many of his poems on it. As a boy he remembers hearing the blues perfomed in Kansas City.
Hughes was fascinated with black music, tried his hand at writing lyrics, and was taken with the
possibilities of performing music and poetry together 4 Besides having both a love of this music
and the common black folk it was created by and for, one of the reasons that Hughes began to draw
on the blues tradition for writing his poetry is that he hoped to capitalize on the blues craze.

Analysis Of The Book Animals By Simon Rich
Synthesis Essay Animals by Simon Rich is an outstanding short story which takes a unique
perspective on the everyday life in a classroom. The story is written from the point of view of a
hamster who spends his tortured life entrapped in a cage. From the first point in this story it is
clear that the purpose of the writing is not to understand the hamster, but rather to analyse the
different actions of the people, and to discover that how they act towards the hamsters reflects on
their character. It is curious to view the everyday interactions of people through a different set of
eyes, that is done by humanizing the narrator s perspective. Based on the actions of the many
people and the treatment of the class pet, the author suggests that human nature is very much a
product of the financial circumstances a person is subjected to. There are a couple of key
characters in this story, the first of which is Simon. He is just one of many strikingly similar
students in homeroom 2k. Simon, like many of the students is irresponsible, and unsympathetic
towards the hamsters. Simon jeopardizes the lives of the hamsters by attempting to joke around
instead of completing his assigned task, which involves giving them food and water. The majority
of the story takes place in a private school, and the reader can make the assumption that the student
s parents are wealthy. The author portrays simon as well as the other kids in a bad light, that they
are, by default, poorly behaved and somewhat

After all, according to a study in Psychology Today, Forty to 60 percent of college students today
would cheat if given a chance (Davis, 1992). If 3 out of every 5 people are cheating and getting
away with it then why does it matter if I cheat occasionally? This method of rationalization is the
root of the problem when dealing with academic dishonesty today. There are so many different
excuses, many sounding very reasonable that it is very to get brainwashed, especially when it is
something a person wants to believe in order to justify wrong actions.
If the lack of morality or the declining deviation of demoralization is the main reason for cheating
then it might be useful to give an explanation of morality. According to M. Oakeshott in an article
from Human Conduct, Morality is a set of manners, customs, and compunctions that govern how
we act and speak in our relationships. We learn morality in the same way we learn a language: by
speaking to others and reacting in turn. Morality is also like a language in that 1.) it utilizes
grammar, 2.) some speak the moral language or act better than others, 3.) it changes with use, and
4.) there are many different moral dialects.

Autism Spectrum, Asperger, And Pervasive Development Disorder
The autism spectrum consists of three main disorders, autism, Asperger s, and pervasive
development disorder not otherwise specified (PDD NOS). One issue regarding disorders on the
autism spectrum is the minimal research funding for them. While treatable diseases are heavily
studied due to the search for a cure, the disorders on the autismspectrum cannot be treated. The
complication of limited funding is that people are not dealing with ASD (autism spectrum disorder)
correctly, which worsens the situation for affected people. Further financing is needed to educate
people on how to handle and deal with disorders such as these. Individuals on the autism spectrum
have to live with the disorder for the entirety of their lives, and when... Show more content on

A study done on the reliance of proprioception and atypical visuo tactile temporal binding describes
an experiment testing a child s ability to recognize the difference between a faux hand and their
own. Proprioception is how one recognizes their bodily functions and personal control, while visuo
tactile temporal binding is the recognition of the body itself. The psychology students that
administered the study concluded afterwards that there is a lack of visuo tactile temporal binding in
people with autism. With this information, psychologists could work towards the development of
new types of therapy focused on expanding the visuo tactile temporal binding of individuals with
this disorder (Greenfield).
The strengthening of social aptitude in people with autism was explored through an acting seminar
in Ohio, hosted by a highly regarded psychologist, Kelly Hunter. People from the area were invited
to attend the seminar to become further aware of the social dysfunction in people with autism. By
working on facial expressions, Hunter was helping the autism community learn how to recognize
and use social cues in a standard environment. If more people become willing to take time such as
this to enhance their knowledge on autism, our society could possibly fund new research projects to
better understand individuals with autism (Makin).

Mexican Revolution Research Paper
The Mexican Revolution, also known as The Mexican War of Independence was a time of
suffering and oppression for the Spanish people which lamentably led to the decrease of economic
and political stability and power. While the nations of Europe were endeavoring towards the
conquering of land throughout the world, the Mexicans started to conquer and colonize in the
western hemisphere. Power was demanded by the people and of most social classes which ended in
rebellion. The Mexican Revolution, which took place from 1810 and ended in 1821 was what
ultimately led towards the creation of independence and a constitution, in which was all made
possible by the citizens who advocated and rebelled to get the outcome desired. The Mexican

Judy Garland s Over The Rainbow
When the tune of Over the Rainbow , also known as Somewhere Over the Rainbow , is heard,
many people can recognize the lyrics of the nostalgic song. The original singer of the song was
Judy Garland. Over the Rainbow speaks a message that can speak to any person which has led to
numerous artists covering this song on many different occasions. Two other singers that have
covered this song are Israel Kamakawiwo ole and Jerry Lee Lewis. Each artist can bring their own
personal emotions into their performance of Over the Rainbowleading to a beautiful song that

Biological Branches Of The Complex Study Of Life
ABSTRACT Throughout history, there have been many studies conducted regarding different
biological branches of the complex study of life. Amylase, an enzyme that catabolizes starch
polymers, is one of the most important enzymes needed for the production of certain foods, such as
syrups, and different processes such as fermentation. Like everything s biological nature, these
certain enzymes are affected by different factors ranging from pH levels to temperature. Finding out
the temperature at which these enzymes reach their optimal condition (conditions at which these
enzymes work the best), is one of the most revealing studies of all. In this experiment, the affect that
temperature has on the enzymatic activity of Amylasewas the leading role, whether it was to
determine if it was slowing it down or speeding it up. For both experiments, iodine was used as the
control. First, the optimal temperatures of fungal Amylase were tested. For this particular task,
there was not too much changed noticed. For most of the temperatures, the activity change seen
was very minimal. With iodine and starchby itself, the activity remained the same as well as with
the amylase at the 85 degrees test. When testing for the bacterial Amylase, the most change was
seen at the 55 degrees test. Overall, it can be said that as temperature rises or decreases, enzymatic
activity is affected, but of course with a certain plateau.

Shopping online can easily be done while sitting in front of the TV or lounging on the sofa. With
payments being made online as well, a person can just sit back, relax and wait for the package to
be delivered. An online apparel store usually draws in customers by offering better prices and offers
for quality products. By having an online store, they can save on monthly expenditures which allow
them to offer clients good value for their money.
Better Variety
Shopping online often offers better variety. Not only can you find them for affordable rates, but
most of them allow you to get limited edition items that you might otherwise have missed out on.
Availability
Nothing can be more frustrating for a person to go to a shop only to realize that the item they
wanted is out of stock and might be restocked at a vague date. This not only makes you
unreasonably angry, but it also means that you have to keep taking time out to check if they have
got the item you want. Online stores eliminate the chances of this happening by placing out of
stock signs next to the product.

Physics of the Golf Drive Essay
This paper examines the physics involved in driving a golf ball off the tee. The objective of a
drive is to achieve the greatest distance while leaving the golf ball in the middle of the fairway.
Several factors will be considered in achieving the longest, and most accurate drive. The factors
include calculating the velocity of the golf ballafter the club and ballcollide, the mass of the club
head, launch angle, the shape of the club face, and finding the optimal golfball.
Intuition tells us that the larger the velocity of the club head at impact with the golf ball, the larger
the velocity of the golf ball after the impact. To calculate the velocity of the golf ball we need to
consider the relationship between the velocity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Using the principle of conservation of momentum:
2) MVi + mvi = MVf + mvf where M is the mass of the club head, and m is the mass of the golf
ball.
The unknowns in the equations will be the final velocities of the golf ball and club head, so first
eliminate one of the final velocities in equation 1 and substitute into equation 2.
3) Vf = vf e(Vi vi) sub into equation 2
4) MVi + mvi = M[vf e(Vi vi)] + mvf
Since the golf ball is originally at rest, vi = 0, solving for final velocity of golf ball yields:
5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m)
Using similar algebra steps to solve for the final velocity of the club head yields:
6) Vf = Vi(M me) / (M + m)
You can use these results and the fact that potential energy at the collision point is equal to zero to
calculate the energy lost in the collision.
7) W = (0.5MVf2 + 0.5mvf2 0.5MVi2)
Our objective in driving a golf ball down the fairway is to keep it as straight as possible and to
drive it as far as possible. It is therefore logical to ask what mass of a club head would give the
longest drive?
From equation 5 we found that the velocity of the ball after impact is given by:
5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m)
From this equation, we can see that the velocity of the ball should increase if we increase the
velocity of our swing, the elasticity of the ball, or the mass of the club head.
We should also recognize that increasing

Margaret Atwood s The Handmaid s Tale
Margaret Atwood is the author of both Lady Oracle and The Handmaid s Tale. Both of these
novels follow the conventions of the oppression of women. Lady Oracle is the narrative in
which Joan Foster, the first person narrator, tells the story of her life. Spanning the time period
of the early 1940s through 1970s, Joan s story describes her growing up in Toronto, becoming an
author of gothic romances, marrying and faking her suicide to escape the complicated turmoil of
her life. The Handmaid s Tale takes place in a city what used to be in the United States, now
called the Republic of Gilead. In this alternative future state, the democratic government has been
overthrown and replaced by an authoritarian one. In this book, the narrator, Offred, acts as the
reader s eyes and ears. People who have read this novel see Gilead as she sees it; they interpret it
as she interprets it; and their only knowledge of it comes from the information she gives to them.
Margaret Atwoods The Handmaid s Tale and Lady Oracle both portray the theme of the roles of
women in society. This will be discussed by analyzing and contrasting the conflicts that Offred and
Joan are faced with, and how they react to these conflicts. Each of these novels, The Handmaid s
Tale and Lady Oracle, have a main character that deals with sexism and oppression. Although they
both deal with the expectations of women from their society, both of their situations are different
and they choose to handle them in dissimilar

Pearl Harbor Case Study
5c. Describe the opening moves of each side.
How did the attacking forces move their units across the line of departure?
The attacking forces, 2nd Battalion Raiders, moved their forces through the line of departure via
submarine and rubber boat. The USS Argonaut (SM 1)(EX V4) and USS Nautilus (SS 168)(EX
V6) transported rubber inflatable motor boats to the Makin Atoll (Carlson s Marine Raiders: Makin
Island 1942, Gordon L. Rottman 24 25). The transit of the troops took around 9 days from Pearl
Harbor due to its winding path to avoid obvious detection. Submarines held position within 500
yds of the reef line to deploy troops and rubber boats. The rubber boats were held within the
external torpedo storage of the submarines along with weapons and supplies for the mission
(Rottman 43). The twelve rubber boats from the Argonaut traveled towards the Nautilus, with it s
eight boats joining them, and continued towards the island. Company A (Carlson s Group) had
landed on Beach Z (actual) instead of Beach Y (planned) which was an improvement since they
re closer to the target. The Raiders made it to land but some boats got capsized causing the spread
of weapons and supplies along the beach, or separated from the group. Peatross group that was
separated from the main body had advanced towards objective despite lack of numbers.
How did the defending forces react to the attack?
The natives of the land, that were supposedly working for the Japanese, had welcomed and
hospitalized the Raiders. False information had been given to them, though, when Raiders
inquired of Japanese personnel (Rottman 46 47). The Japanese soldiers had seemingly
anticipated the attack or had been aware of it with no reports of the natives. Japanese soldiers
had been deployed close to where the path and position of the target of the Raiders (Rottman 47).
This was most likely due to the panic friendly fire shots by Raiders which had occurred frequently
throughout the Raider s presence. The Japanese had automobiles and special weaponry, such as
flamethrowers, machine guns, etc. to use on the island against the Raiders as well. The Japanese
had also placed camouflaged snipers amongst the palms in advance to pick off any hiding or

CLUB DRUGS
Another category of drugs that forensic scientists have to test for and identify is club drugs. Club
drugs are synthetic drugs that are typically used in bars, nightclubs, raves, and other gatherings.
Some of these drugs have become popular in these settings because they are thought to enhance or
improve the experience, although they also have side effects and dangers. Many of these drugs are
used primarily by teens and young adults.
The settings of raves and nightclubs also support the use of these drugs. Their small, often tablet
form make the drugs easy to conceal, and with so many people dancing and moving, individuals
who take the drugs are often not as noticeable as they might be in another setting even when
experiencing the effects of the drug.
Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA), or Ecstasy, as it is more commonly known, is one of
the most popular club drugs. Originally patented as an appetite suppressant, this synthetic drug
produces feelings of happiness as well as hallucinations. Chronic use of the drug has serious effects
on the body, including kidney failure, stroke, and seizures.

ketamine (also known as Vitamin K or Special K), which is also used as an

Soviet Union and the United States Race into Space
In 1957, the Soviet Union and the United States once rivals in the Cold War began to race for being
the best in spaceflight. The space race was eventually resolved in an agreement in 1972. Before this
agreement, each sent satellites in attempts to try to out do the other. Satellites eventually turned to
manned spacecrafts, which then turned to men on the moon. Now there is the International Space
Station, which is a permanently crewed and cooperative laboratory in space. All of this started with
a little friendly competition between the USSR and the United States. However, despite the fun
space typically is, the government should not spend any more time up in space and should spend its
time trying to correct the plummeting economy and other problems here on Earth.
Background
In order to truly understand space exploration, it is crucial to have a strong and accurate sense of
background knowledge of the space race. The foundation of rocketry was built by Wernher Von
Braun. Von Braun was the inventor of the rocket and the world s first ballistic missile the V 2
(The Hunt). In 1932, he tested his rocket in front of the military, only to have it fail (Bellis).
Over time he was able to design and construct rockets that were able to function, like the
previously mentioned V 2 rocket. The V 2 was an extremely deadly rocket; it travelled at 2,386
miles per hour with its load of one ton of high explosive (Trueman). The rockets were later used in
World War Two. About 1000 V2 s

To begin, Hermia and Lysander s romance, as detailed in A Midsummer Night s Dream, is true,
as this love is both gradual and exceedingly organic. Unlike Helena and Demetrius s fake and
fallacious love, the romantic passion between Hermia and Lysander is genuine. It was not the
fairy king, Oberon, who made them fall deeply in love with each other, as is the case with the
former pair of paramours. Instead, Hermia and Lysander fell in love naturally, and in a gradual
fashion. This proves their love to be true, as a person cannot fall in love with another in a brief
period of time. Love is piecemeal, and takes numerous hours, if not years, for two people to
become paramours. This is not true of the romance between Helena and Demetrius, as the two
fell in love in a single instant. Demetrius was bewitched by Oberon s magical elixir, and that is
the only reason why the youth dotes on Helena. Before he was given the potion by the fairy
king, Demetrius utterly detested Helena and loathed her. In truth, Demetrius did not even wish to
see the girl, and was said to become sick merely upon seeing Helena. Therefore, it was only
because of Oberon s involvement that those two people fell in love. Thus, their love is not true,
and is entirely fictitious and fraudulent. In addition, the love between Hermia and Lysander relied
on no involvement from Oberon to form. The fairy king s influence played no part in making them
fall in love. While it is true that Lysander was given

The zeitgeist of the time was the final collapse of a certain kind of thinking. The seeds were
sown for feminism, for the whole notion of cyberspace, ecology, and the whole philosophy of

affected the senses. There s a difference between a drug and a psychedelic. Drugs make you

The Importance Of Second Language Acquisition
Abstract
An interesting phenomenon in the research of second language acquisition is that learners seem to
acquire English grammatical morphemes in a certain order, regardless of their native languages,
ages, and learning environments. Furthermore, technique of instruction and data collection seem to
have little effect on the acquisition order. This study attempts to investigate the morpheme
acquisition order in the writing of Arabic students learning English at king Faisal University, KSA.
Data collected from twenty placements tests is examined for fourteen grammatical morphemes and
the participants from Saudi Arabian male students at king Faisal University. The acquisition order
obtained is compared to orders, found in previous studies. The study does not find a significant
correlation between second language acquisition order and first language acquisition order, but high
correlations between this study s sequence and those in five other second language acquisition
studies give further strength to the idea of a universal ESL morpheme acquisition order.
Introduction
In the late fifties the predominant view of language learning was Skinner s (1957) behaviorist
theory which claimed that learning proceeds according to a series of stimulus/response
associations and reinforcement. This view has changed since Chrosky s proposal (1957 1965) that
the task, of learning a language is not learning a vast number of sentences, as Skinner believed, but
rather learning a system of rules

The Comparison Between Miss Brill And Evelyn And Miss Austen
The comparison between the protagonist Miss Brill and Evelyn:
In the short story Miss Brill by Mansfield the protagonist is holding onto the past. She has
delusions of what her life once was, and tries to look at the presence. However, in the short story
Eveline, by Joyce, Eveline the protagonist is trying to hold onto the future and deny the past. Both
characters, however, in the end, lose hold of their fantasies and have to face reality. Miss Brill
learns of her delusion when she is out at the park listening to the band play music. She imagines
herself as being young and desired. The writer Mayfield uses her fur as a symbolism of her
beauty and youth. While Miss Brill is sitting at the park, she imagines a life where everyone is
happy and joyous. She dreams that everyone is on stage performing. Unfortunately, a young
couple comes and sits next to her and degrades her fur and disrespects her. This astonished
behavior makes Miss Brill have to face reality. She realizes that she is not the young woman
Miss Brill so wishes to hold onto, but the old lady that she fears to live. Miss Brill is so upset
about this resolution that Miss Brill leaves the park and walks home skipping her routine of
stopping at the bakery and getting her Sunday treat. She walks back to a place that she calls a

events. The Sublime experience as stated by the critic Longinus is, …a matter of treatment.
The particular form of the sublime experience that requires prepossessing objects is not only the
form; it is simply the form in which enthusiasm preponderates over irony [1] . The Castle of
Otranto is the first Gothic novel written by Horace Walpole in which the idea of the Sublime is
presented through its physical, transcending and overpowering imagery. This... Show more content

Edmund Burke a theorist stated in his works that, …Whatever is fitted in any sort to excite
the ideas of pain and danger; that is to say, whatever is in any sort terrible, or is conversant about
terrible objects or operates in a manner analogous to terror, is a source of the sublime [2] . The
critic attempts to assemble an authoritative definition of the sublime here. Furthermore Gothic
castles were built as symbols of systematic power; they were definite assertions of ambition that
rested on the owner s control of others. A sense of empowerment is suggested through this idea
therefore indicating to the Sublime having a dominant role in the Gothic genre. Intended to convey
a disputing power, Walpole implies images of force, hierarchy, stability and command in the novel.
The Castle Of Otranto, attempts to capture a sense of realism through its illustration of settings
and characters. Burke commented that: whatever is fitted to produce such a tension must be
productive of a passion similar to terror; and consequently must be a source of the sublime, though
it should have no idea of danger connected with it [3] . Consequently the Sublime is shown to be
produced by a passion which is closely related to terror, this is evident through the tension created
by the settings and characters; a sense of terror is illustrated. The novel was an original Gothic
behind the overthrow of the Roman Empire, therefore Gothic at the time applied to

The Era Of The Colonial Era
1. The Colonial Era
In this era people were self dependent on growing their own food as well as making clothes for
themselves. In today s times we rely on retail shopping for our clothes and food. There are
separate markets for each providing room for progress in society.
As far as the business side goes in this era, most businesses were small and relied on local profit
alone. In society today, while small businesses do still exist more often than not most corporations
are relying on profit across the globe. This way more profit and jobs can be made.
The Industrial Era
The factory system was just being developed in this era. This was the beginning of a major way
in which businesses would grow. Still today we use techniques for this time bust we have
improved on the efficiency of how products are made. Also putting laws in place for no child labor
which was a great improvement.
Specialty or larger stores began to compete with the general or smaller stores that were prominent
in the previous era. Trade became less important, and with this the market economy was born. We
have improved this system with finding a good balance in big corporations and smaller businesses.
This allows the system to function much easier and there is much more room for success from
several companies, not just a few.
The age of Titans
Some called this the second industrial revolution. This was an age of many people building business
empires. To this day many businesses

The Game Of Dice
My mini classroom lesson plan on the game of Dice did not showcase any of my top five
strengths. The one strength it came close to was citizenship, teamwork, and loyalty. The game of
Dice is played with multiply people and each person had to be supportive and patient with the
person before them. When learninga gamefor the first time you want all the participants to work
together to make sure they understand the concepts and how it works. The game is played
individually, but you do have to participate in the game as a group in order to succeed. Dice is a
very strategic game and it can be played in teams. In my class presentation we played individually,
but if we had played it in groups we would have relied more on teamwork because the team... Show

I expected to get the majority of my strengths that appeared, but one that I was shocked to see
was Gratitude. I am always very thankful when I receive a gift but I really do not pay close

them. One of my five strengths that I would like to improve before my practicum starts is
fairness, equity, and justice. I want to make sure that when I walk into the classroom that I will
treat every one of my students fairly. I do not want any of the students to feel like I treat them
different than their classmate. It is hard to not have that one favourite child that you depend on

like to work on is citizenship, teamwork, and loyalty. I generally work well in groups once get to

ideas; even if they do not get used they are at least out in the open. I would like to be better at

History Of Eugenics
Since the mid 1800s, standardized tests have played a part in America s education system. In 1969,
the Federal Department of Education began focusing on the educational achievement of students.
In 1994, the Clinton administration revised the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, created
during the War on Poverty, to reduce achievement gaps in kindergarten through twelfth grade public
education. The Clinton administration made every state that received money from the federal
government for high poverty schools begin testing their students annually. In 2002, President

Chinese Foreign Policy
Does Chinese Foreign Policy reflect the concerns of a status quo power or a revisionist power?
INTRODUCTION
Before addressing this question, it is essential to establish what is meant by a status quo or
revisionist power. Hans Morgenthau described a status quo power as one that favours and aims to
maintain the distribution of power as it exists at a particular moment in history ,. Similarly,
proponents of power transition theory use the concept of the rules of the game regarding nations
power relations to define status quo and revisionist states, the latter desiring to redraft the rules out
of a general dissatisfaction with their share ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An access denial strategy is therefore a core safeguard for China, being itself a continental power
neighbour to four states that possess nuclear weapons and surrounded by a perimeter of on going
conflicts. Furthermore, a maritime build up is desired not only for its strategic importance but also
to address the popular naval complex among the Chinese nationalist public who has often blamed
their country s defeats on their weak navy. It would, as figured by Chinese leaders, help correct
China s self consciousness as the only permanent member of UNSC that lacks naval capacity join
rescue missions and crisis interventions.
ECONOMY
It is widely perceived by the West that China s growing confidence is mainly attributed to its
growing economic power, which is also the issue area where Western observers notice a
particularly provocative tone, supporting their verdict with examples such as Wen Jiabao s
criticism of the US economic mismanagement or Chinese banks concerns over the dollar s
continued role as the international reserve currency . Meanwhile, Chinese leaders seem to retain a
firm grip on its domestic sphere through constraints upon foreign firms (suspected to have used
cyber attacks on these, although denied by Beijing), deliberate bias toward state owned companies
and rigid protection of the much criticised RMB. In the global scene, China is also pursuing a

Mcdonald s Drive-Thru
Although many people visit fast food restaurants every day, they may be unaware of the detailed
thought that is made towards the structuring of the business and its employees. Many times, we
are on a constant rush to purchase our food and to quickly leave. Within the last few years,
restaurants have taken a note of this, and have even developed what is known as the Drive Thru .
In today s modern society, one thing people seem to be short of is time. We go in restaurants and
literally expect fast food. Restaurants like McDonald s have developed ways to decrease the
amount of time for which people have to wait for food; thus catching the attention of many
Americans going about their day with limited time. McDonald s developed innovative ways to
configure the methods for which its food should be made. Their developments are what have
placed them in the top spot, where today their franchises are globally recognized. Today they hold
the record for the largest chain of hamburgerfast food restaurants in the world. McDonald s was
originally founded by two brothers named Dick and Mac McDonald. Having observed their
method of food production, Ray Kroc now owner of McDonalds, was stunned by their
effectiveness. The brothers had developed a system of concentrating on only a few items
hamburgers, fries and drinks.

Commentary on The Unbearable Lightness of Being Essay
This commentary will explore the use of vocabulary, punctuation and imagery by Milan
Kundera in an extract of the novel The Unbearable Lightness of Being . The passage to be
analysed is located in the fourth part of the book named Soul and Body . It portrays a scene
where one of the main characters, Tereza, is in front of a mirror and finds herself dealing with the
conflict between identity and image. Her disconformities with her body act as a trigger for this
questioning to arise and bring back memories from her childhood. The entire passage is structured
in three sections: one where she criticises her body, another where queries arise from these
observations and finally one where she demonstrates her definite opinion on the situation.... Show

Some of these are highlighted by repetition like very large, very dark circles . The metaphor at
the end of the paragraph on pornography conveys a feeling of vulgarity, violence and
despicability. The idea of the body as a means for sex is a theme around which the passage also
revolves and we are introduced to it by the inclusion of the term pornography . As a consequence,
the reader is impacted and comprehends Tereza s deep concerns and overall heaviness of her
character. We are accustomed to long sentences from the beginning, successful tool for the author to
elongate and deepen the imagery of the passage. In addition, they simulate movement and provide
the reader with the idea of Tereza s eyes moving along her skin, examining every detail of it. After
this description, Kundera follows to a set of questions that arise in Tereza s mind. This change in
punctuation clearly introduces the reader into a new environment, a more philosophical one where
Tereza deliberates upon the relationship between soul and body. Kundera s choice of separating
each of these thoughts into different, short paragraphs gives the sensation of thoughts flashing up
in the character s mind. Simultaneously, it pauses the reader in order to be able to answer those
doubts from their own perspective. Nonetheless, Kundera grants Tereza an

Retirement Pension Plans
A) Based on FASB.org, there are two types of retirement pension plans that are employer
sponsored: defined contribution plan and defined benefit plan. The different benefits of these
plans show if an employee or an employer has risks in reference with the investment of funds.
They also change the costs for each plan. Defined contribution plan accepts contributions to it and
allows the investment of funds saved over time. The contributions are mainly made by the
employee, with some matched by the employer. The most common example is 401K Plan. The
employee decides on the portfolio and investment tactics in order to increase the plan assets. This
plan is a low risk and a low cost to the employer. Defined benefit plan promises the amount of...

FASB created Statement 158 that amended statements 87 and 132 and required different
recognition of gains and losses for underfunded and overfunded pension plans. Large companies
faced shortfalls because they severally underfunded their pension plans and did not recognize it
properly. Per FASB.org, prior accounting standards let the companies recognize an asset or liability
from a defined benefit postretirement plan, which almost always differed from the plan s
overfunded or underfunded status . A company could delay recognition of certain economic events.
The delay was affecting the changes in plan assets and liabilities; often liabilities were recognized at
significantly less amounts than the underfunded plan showed. A company also could recognize an
asset on its Balance Sheet for the underfunded plan. All information about overfunded and
underfunded plans was taken to the footnotes in the form of reconciliation. This created
informational asymmetry and did not provide full representation of a company s financial situation.
FASB Statement 158 required every company to recognize economic events in the year that they
occur, as well as reporting current funded status as assets and liabilities for the defined benefit
pension plans on company s financial statements and not in the notes. This Statement is in effect
since December

this system when Bourgeoisie abuse the Proletariat s working force. Also, Smith believes that every

How Does Margaret Atwood Affect Society
Margaret Atwood, one of Canada s most respected authors, is inspired by science fiction. She
found this inspiration from her father because he was a scientist. [Additionally, he was who she
looked up to due to his successes in life.] She uses women as her speakers and often presents a
dystopia in her work, which shows women as stronger characters in societies with problems.
Margaret Eleanor Atwood was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada on November 18, 1939. Atwood is
the second child of Margaret Dorothy and Carl Edmund Atwood. Most of Atwood s childhood
memories were spent outside of northern Quebec and traveling to many places due to her fatherВґs

An example of this diction would be and when you set out the poison/ I piss on it/ to warn the

everywhere, but in her country animals are animals, and in other countries animals are people.
Atwood continues the same type of symbolism in Rat Song because she compares the speaker to a
parasite. She uses animal imagery in both Rat Song and The animals in that country to show the
reader that there are creatures that are not what they seem to be, and they do their damage and then
disappear. The poem Rat Song is a metaphor. It compares the rat to a woman who is warning others
to stay away from this man when she states, All I want is love, you stupid/ humanist . She further
continues using metaphor in The animals in that country, where people are technically

The Federal Minister of Health Rona Ambrose has taken a positive step toward the right direction
by advising the federal standing committee on health to research into the possible hazard and gain
of e cigarettes ( The Canadian Press,2014) Due to the health concern and potential hazard to
adolescents the cities of York , Red Deer and Toronto have restricted smoking of cigarettes in open
places. This is a well come development that Ottawa can draw from to take steps on controlling e
cigarettes. No doubt, there is an urgent need for the government to regulate the manufacture,
marketing and usage of e cigarettes because the manufacturers of e cigarettes will not disclose the
content of the cigarettes and canisters. No wonder Olivia Rose (2014) concluded that other
chemicals and the quantities included in e cigarettes apart from carcinogen like formaldehyde are
unknown. From the foregoing, it is pertinent that the Canadian government regulate e

well as the potential risk and hazards associated with them.

Taking a Look at Quorn
PROJECT IDEA
In our modern world one of our biggest problems is food, or rather a lack of food. To combat this
problem Quorn was developed in 1925. However Quorn only recently became easily accessible to
South Africans. What I aim to achieve with this project is to establish whether Mycoproteins are
the best way forward. WHAT IS MYCOPROTEIN
Mycoproteins are derived from the fungus Fusarium venenatum . This fungus is grown in a
fermentation vat filled with glucose syrup and minerals and vitamins. To maintain growth oxygen
is pumped in, carbon dioxide is removed and the vat is kept at a temperature between 350C to
420C. To form the all important protein, nitrogen is consistently added to the fungus. The result of
all this optimization is that the fungus can double its mass every five hours.
However even with this fast production rate the fungus must be dried to ~10% water, this was the
main cost in the production of other single cell proteins. Of the dry mass of the fungus
approximately 48% is protein with the remainder being fat, carbohydrates and cell wall. Currently
the best single cell protein production system is unibio s u loop technology which converts natural
gas into a highly concentrated, 71%, protein product. The mycoprotein used in Quorn was chosen
above the natural gas system because the hyphae in the fungus are similar in length and width to
genuine muscle fibres which gives the quorn a more realistic meaty texture.

  • 2. The Success Of A Business Owner Being an entrepreneur is about believing in something and standing for what you believe in. The reasons entrepreneurs start businesses is to be successful as well as to make money. No one ever starts a business with the intent to fail, however if a business does fail most entrepreneurs learn from their mistakes and try again. The mentality of successful business owner is an I will not lose attitude that motivates that person to not accept failure as an option. Having what it takes to survive and succeed is a core value of entrepreneurs, making it your civil duty to find solutions to problems people face on a daily basis. In my research I think the main objective of an entrepreneur, is to change the world in a way that will benefit everyone in one way or another. This is the entrepreneurs right and clear intention to make sure they are operating from a good intent and integrity. Entrepreneurs that have achieved a pinnacle of success often ask themselves, How can I help? or better yet you ask yourself, How can I serve? . These are the the main motivating factors an entrepreneur needs to create a plan of action. Any entrepreneur that is successful in business has an instinctive ability to see problems and needs that people have as an opportunity to apply their entrepreneurial capabilities to come up with solutions and satisfy a person s problems or needs. Another great example are social media entrepreneurs who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. My First Day At School Essay On the morning of September 1st, 2016, I woke up to my alarm excited and ready for my first day of school. I quickly got dressed and ran down the stairs to get some breakfast. I ate my breakfasts meal, and since there was time to kill before we were allowed to enter school, I pet my dogs and just layed down in my warm, soft blankets. I wish I could bring my dogs and my blankets to school with me, I thought to myself, but I know school is a time for learning, not for sleeping and relaxing. Once it was around 7:25 AM, my dad drove me to school. I met my friends in front of the school by the big tree in the front of the campus, and we talked about how weird it was going to be going to a whole new school with people we knew and people we didn t know. We also were talking about which teachers we thought we were going to get. We had many other discussions for the rest of the time we had to hang out together. but I can t remember what they were about. Quite a few minutes later, the bell that signaled that we could enter school rang, and we all scrambled inside to get in line to get our schedules. I got in line, and waited until I got to the front. Once I did, I said my first and last name to the person and they gave me my schedule. I looked it over, and ran to find my friends so I could see if I had any classes with them. I had some of my them in my classes, but not many. For the remainder of the morning we had to hang out, I wandered around the school, checking things ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Obstacles In The Count Of Monte Cristo A person cannot be defined by their physical characteristics, but instead by the way they react and recover to the obstacles that are placed in front of them. During the French Revolution, many French authors, such as Alexandre Dumas, wrote numerous novels in order to educate readers about their historical heritage. This reality is exemplified in Alexandre Dumas novel; the novel is about a wrongly convicted man who is determined to strike his vengeance on those who incarcerated him. During the time this book was written, the most popular genre was D Artagnan romances which were based off of historical events and people. Although what transpires within The Count of Monte Cristo is fictitious, the hardships the protagonist and other characters face, is indeed comparable to those of which many have endured for centuries. Alexandre Dumas utilizes the main character of the story to overcome multiple complications which exemplifies the importance of responding and persevering through monumental obstacles. Throughout the novel, the protagonist, Edmond Dantes, is continuously having to make decisions that most people would find very uncomfortable in dealing with. At the ... • 5. Active Hope By Joan Macy Quotes Active Hope, written by Joan Macy, is an interesting read that discusses many topics regarding social and environmental change in the modern world. Joan Macy employs many ideas to engage the reader into her point of view and outlines the book in a very different way that distinguishes it from other books. (Quote 1) To begin with Reflecting on Success on page 226; this part of the book inspired me. Her quote If the change we want doesn t happen in our lifetime, does that mean we will never experience success? For the encouraging boost we get when we know we re moving forward, we need to find markers of progress we can spot more easily and often. Not only is this quote important but it can be relevant to many things we live through and foresee daily. For example, if one is trying to achieve a certain fitness goal, it is not the brightest outlook to just select a very far fetched goal and not track small points of progress beforehand. In fact, if one was to do such a thing, it would be rather challenging since frustration and injury would occur before one could even see any results since the results are not being analyzed closely enough. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without closely analyzing certain key points, success is rather construed to be a challenging task. Personally, if I was to complete a task at hand, it is best to try to tackle the task through breaking it down into small goals. Whether it is an essay I am writing or a 2 mile run, it is important to recognize this relativity. I think if we can apply this to the issues and problems within the world of environmentalism, then hope and change as Macy believes will occur, however, on a relatively microscopic scale not foreseeable with the human ... • 6. My Experience In Life And Different Experiences In My Life All of us have a story to tell. Something that separates us from others. We may have similar experiences, but what makes us different is how we handle them. In my life I have cherished memories, hopes for my future, and heartaches that may never leave. Life can get complicated, but it s all about figuring out who you are and who you want to be. I would say I had a pretty good childhood. It was filled with good memories, great laughs, and lots of fun. When I was 3, my parents divorced, but I can t really remember them ever being together so it s never been an issue. At my mom s house I always spent a lot of time at my grandma s house playing with my cousins. It was like having a bunch of brothers and sisters. We still have great relationships between each other, even now in high school. On my dad s side, his family lives in California so I don t get to see them as much, but the friends we hang out with are practically family. Our neighbors have three kids from the ages 1 6. I consider them as three more siblings pretty much. It s very warm and comfortable just like at my mom s. As for my school life, from 1st grade to 6th grade I went to the Catholic school here in Thorp. I had some pretty good years there. Because there were only about 10 of us, it felt like another little family. In 7th grade is when I transferred to the Public school. I think because I d gotten used to being in smaller groups, coming to the Public school was a big deal with the class sizes being larger. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Ever since the industrial revolution started the production of carbon dioxide has gone up in tremendous quantities. Because of this increase in greenhouse gases the earth has experienced drastic changes. These changes are the reason for why humanity should be scared, humans have control of many things but weather and natural disasters are not something we can control. On the other hand, society has taken steps to diminish the production of carbon dioxide, although this process may take time to make a significant impact it provides humanity with a reason to feel like our situation will improve. It is easy to feel good about these current efforts towards resolving climate change. However, to make a serious impact on the problem, we need to diminish our carbon dioxide footprint significantly, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A perfect example of how these steps are meaningless is that in December, nearly 200 countries met in order find an agreement that reduces the damage being done to our planet. However, according to Margo Oge, the former director of the Office of Transportation and Air Quality of the Environmental Protection Agency, she stated that back in the United States, the Congressional Republicans have been in denial and are pushing for Congress and the Senate to repeal the agreement that the 200 countries initially pushed for. Racism In Warriors DonT Cry By Melba Patillo Beals In the 1950s to the 1960s, there were 3,959 lynching of black men, women and children, the brutal deaths took place in only 12 states in the south of America. All of which were mainly because of racism. Melba Pattilo Beals wrote Warriors Don t Cry to share her experience of racism when integrating into Central High. This book is to show the harsh reality of the suffering African Americans had to go through when battling racism. It shows that you should do what is right even if it is against society s standards. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, the importance of historical events greatly impacts the course of the story and the lives of the people in it. In the novel, Warriors Don t Cry, written by Melba Patillo Beals, it first begins off with the U.S Supreme court ruling the segregation of schools to be unconstitutional. Three years later, there were 517 African Americans eligible to attend Central High School, of them only eighty expressed interest in wanting to do so. After that, of those eighty kids only 17 were sent to the first of Central High School. Two days later the students from Little Rock try to enter their new school, but are turned away by the national guard. Not until September 1960, did the NAACP, with its tenacious legal work, force Central High to open to integration once more but only two black students were permitted entry (Warriors Don t Cry, Beals, 220) In the 1960s through the 1970s racism was a usual custom society, many people were racist while ... • 17. The Iroquois Constitution Purposes And Principles Jomar PiersonPierson 1 Mr. Brown, English 2 Period 4 11/15/15 Essay English 2 The Iroquois Constitution purposes and principles reflect with the sociological function and rules of my household which will influence me when I become a parent. The Iroquois constitution is seen as a way to promote peace within the five nations. They demonstrated principles and purpose through always speaking the truth to a fellow nation, to not be easily hurt by criticism or angered, through always praising their Gods for the things they have, and to include anyone who agrees to the constitution, which connects to the sociological function. The rules of my household are similar in that we are to always be truthful, to always show appreciation for what we have, and to never let others affect one s values. This will inspire me for when I become a parent. We will see how the purposes and principles of the Iroquois connect with the sociological function. Sociological function is represented through the story as they talk about the principles and purpose in which each nation in the constitution must follow . In the story they talk about the spreading of their nation and how anyone who wishes to join their constitution will be accepted with open arms. • 21. Analysis Of The Book Animals By Simon Rich Synthesis Essay Animals by Simon Rich is an outstanding short story which takes a unique perspective on the everyday life in a classroom. The story is written from the point of view of a hamster who spends his tortured life entrapped in a cage. From the first point in this story it is clear that the purpose of the writing is not to understand the hamster, but rather to analyse the different actions of the people, and to discover that how they act towards the hamsters reflects on their character. It is curious to view the everyday interactions of people through a different set of eyes, that is done by humanizing the narrator s perspective. Based on the actions of the many people and the treatment of the class pet, the author suggests that human nature is very much a product of the financial circumstances a person is subjected to. There are a couple of key characters in this story, the first of which is Simon. He is just one of many strikingly similar students in homeroom 2k. Simon, like many of the students is irresponsible, and unsympathetic towards the hamsters. Simon jeopardizes the lives of the hamsters by attempting to joke around instead of completing his assigned task, which involves giving them food and water. The majority of the story takes place in a private school, and the reader can make the assumption that the student s parents are wealthy. The author portrays simon as well as the other kids in a bad light, that they are, by default, poorly behaved and somewhat ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This method of rationalization is the root of the problem when dealing with academic dishonesty today. There are so many different excuses, many sounding very reasonable that it is very to get brainwashed, especially when it is something a person wants to believe in order to justify wrong actions. If the lack of morality or the declining deviation of demoralization is the main reason for cheating then it might be useful to give an explanation of morality. According to M. Oakeshott in an article from Human Conduct, Morality is a set of manners, customs, and compunctions that govern how we act and speak in our relationships. We learn morality in the same way we learn a language: by speaking to others and reacting in turn. Morality is also like a language in that 1.) it utilizes grammar, 2.) some speak the moral language or act better than others, 3.) it changes with use, and 4.) there are many different moral dialects. Amylase, an enzyme that catabolizes starch polymers, is one of the most important enzymes needed for the production of certain foods, such as syrups, and different processes such as fermentation. Like everything s biological nature, these certain enzymes are affected by different factors ranging from pH levels to temperature. Finding out the temperature at which these enzymes reach their optimal condition (conditions at which these enzymes work the best), is one of the most revealing studies of all. In this experiment, the affect that temperature has on the enzymatic activity of Amylasewas the leading role, whether it was to determine if it was slowing it down or speeding it up. For both experiments, iodine was used as the control. First, the optimal temperatures of fungal Amylase were tested. For this particular task, there was not too much changed noticed. For most of the temperatures, the activity change seen was very minimal. With iodine and starchby itself, the activity remained the same as well as with the amylase at the 85 degrees test. When testing for the bacterial Amylase, the most change was seen at the 55 degrees test. Overall, it can be said that as temperature rises or decreases, enzymatic activity is affected, but of course with a certain plateau. INTRODUCTION When it comes to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The objective of a drive is to achieve the greatest distance while leaving the golf ball in the middle of the fairway. Several factors will be considered in achieving the longest, and most accurate drive. The factors include calculating the velocity of the golf ballafter the club and ballcollide, the mass of the club head, launch angle, the shape of the club face, and finding the optimal golfball. Intuition tells us that the larger the velocity of the club head at impact with the golf ball, the larger the velocity of the golf ball after the impact. Using the principle of conservation of momentum: 2) MVi + mvi = MVf + mvf where M is the mass of the club head, and m is the mass of the golf ball. The unknowns in the equations will be the final velocities of the golf ball and club head, so first eliminate one of the final velocities in equation 1 and substitute into equation 2. 3) Vf = vf e(Vi vi) sub into equation 2 4) MVi + mvi = M[vf e(Vi vi)] + mvf Since the golf ball is originally at rest, vi = 0, solving for final velocity of golf ball yields: 5) vf = [MVi(1 + e)] / (M + m) Using similar algebra steps to solve for the final velocity of the club head yields: 6) Vf = Vi(M me) / (M + m) You can use these results and the fact that potential energy at the collision point is equal to zero to calculate the energy lost in the collision. 7) W = (0.5MVf2 + 0.5mvf2 0.5MVi2) Our objective in driving a golf ball down the fairway is to keep it as straight as possible and to drive it as far as possible. It is therefore logical to ask what mass of a club head would give the longest drive? The attacking forces, 2nd Battalion Raiders, moved their forces through the line of departure via submarine and rubber boat. The USS Argonaut (SM 1)(EX V4) and USS Nautilus (SS 168)(EX V6) transported rubber inflatable motor boats to the Makin Atoll (Carlson s Marine Raiders: Makin Island 1942, Gordon L. Rottman 24 25). The transit of the troops took around 9 days from Pearl Harbor due to its winding path to avoid obvious detection. Submarines held position within 500 yds of the reef line to deploy troops and rubber boats. The rubber boats were held within the external torpedo storage of the submarines along with weapons and supplies for the mission (Rottman 43). The twelve rubber boats from the Argonaut traveled towards the Nautilus, with it s eight boats joining them, and continued towards the island. Company A (Carlson s Group) had landed on Beach Z (actual) instead of Beach Y (planned) which was an improvement since they re closer to the target. The Raiders made it to land but some boats got capsized causing the spread of weapons and supplies along the beach, or separated from the group. Peatross group that was separated from the main body had advanced towards objective despite lack of numbers. How did the defending forces react to the attack? The natives of the land, that were supposedly working for the Japanese, had welcomed and hospitalized the Raiders. The Japanese soldiers had seemingly anticipated the attack or had been aware of it with no reports of the natives. Japanese soldiers had been deployed close to where the path and position of the target of the Raiders (Rottman 47). This was most likely due to the panic friendly fire shots by Raiders which had occurred frequently throughout the Raider s presence. William Shakespeare s A Play A Midsummer Night s Dream To Quote Hamlet, Act Three, Scene Three, Line Eighty Seven, No. (An analyzation of true love in A Midsummer Night s Dream) Examples of true love in literature can be found in a myriad of oeuvres and opuses. It is extremely popular in the contemporary era to include romance in a novel. An exemplary case of an instance of true love in modern writing would be the affiliation of Eddard Stark and Catelyn Tully in George R. R. Martin s A Game of Thrones. These two characters share an intense romance, and never sincerely stop loving one another. Moreover, in the aforementioned author s A Song of Ice and Fire saga, there are additional relationships with a true bond. To begin, Hermia and Lysander s romance, as detailed in A Midsummer Night s Dream, is true, as this love is both gradual and exceedingly organic. Unlike Helena and Demetrius s fake and fallacious love, the romantic passion between Hermia and Lysander is genuine. It was not the fairy king, Oberon, who made them fall deeply in love with each other, as is the case with the former pair of paramours. Instead, Hermia and Lysander fell in love naturally, and in a gradual fashion. This proves their love to be true, as a person cannot fall in love with another in a brief period of time. Love is piecemeal, and takes numerous hours, if not years, for two people to become paramours. This is not true of the romance between Helena and Demetrius, as the two fell in love in a single instant. Demetrius was bewitched by Oberon s magical elixir, and that is the only reason why the youth dotes on Helena. Before he was given the potion by the fairy king, Demetrius utterly detested Helena and loathed her. In truth, Demetrius did not even wish to see the girl, and was said to become sick merely upon seeing Helena. Therefore, it was only because of Oberon s involvement that those two people fell in love. Thus, their love is not true, and is entirely fictitious and fraudulent. In addition, the love between Hermia and Lysander relied on no involvement from Oberon to form. The fairy king s influence played no part in making them fall in love. Suzy Hopkins, formerly Suzy Creamcheese, a dancer and inspirational figure on the underground scene in Los Angeles and London, remembers the visceral way psychedelic culture affected the senses. There s a difference between a drug and a psychedelic. Drugs make you drugged and psychedelics enhance your ability to see the truth or reality, she says. For her, LSD and music created a kind of alchemy. When I start to dance, at a certain point, the dance takes over and the music is dancing me. • 40. The Importance Of Second Language Acquisition Abstract An interesting phenomenon in the research of second language acquisition is that learners seem to acquire English grammatical morphemes in a certain order, regardless of their native languages, ages, and learning environments. Furthermore, technique of instruction and data collection seem to have little effect on the acquisition order. This study attempts to investigate the morpheme acquisition order in the writing of Arabic students learning English at king Faisal University, KSA. Data collected from twenty placements tests is examined for fourteen grammatical morphemes and the participants from Saudi Arabian male students at king Faisal University. The acquisition order obtained is compared to orders, found in previous studies. The study does not find a significant correlation between second language acquisition order and first language acquisition order, but high correlations between this study s sequence and those in five other second language acquisition studies give further strength to the idea of a universal ESL morpheme acquisition order. Introduction In the late fifties the predominant view of language learning was Skinner s (1957) behaviorist theory which claimed that learning proceeds according to a series of stimulus/response associations and reinforcement. This view has changed since Chrosky s proposal (1957 1965) that the task, of learning a language is not learning a vast number of sentences, as Skinner believed, but rather learning a system of rules ... Both characters, however, in the end, lose hold of their fantasies and have to face reality. Miss Brill learns of her delusion when she is out at the park listening to the band play music. She imagines herself as being young and desired. The writer Mayfield uses her fur as a symbolism of her beauty and youth. While Miss Brill is sitting at the park, she imagines a life where everyone is happy and joyous. She dreams that everyone is on stage performing. Unfortunately, a young couple comes and sits next to her and degrades her fur and disrespects her. This astonished behavior makes Miss Brill have to face reality. She realizes that she is not the young woman Miss Brill so wishes to hold onto, but the old lady that she fears to live. Miss Brill is so upset about this resolution that Miss Brill leaves the park and walks home skipping her routine of stopping at the bakery and getting her Sunday treat. The term Gothic suggests a genre which deals with frightening and mysterious settings by giving connotations of ghostly castles and supernatural events. The Sublime experience as stated by the critic Longinus is, …a matter of treatment. The particular form of the sublime experience that requires prepossessing objects is not only the form; it is simply the form in which enthusiasm preponderates over irony [1] . The critic attempts to assemble an authoritative definition of the sublime here. Furthermore Gothic castles were built as symbols of systematic power; they were definite assertions of ambition that rested on the owner s control of others. A sense of empowerment is suggested through this idea therefore indicating to the Sublime having a dominant role in the Gothic genre. Intended to convey a disputing power, Walpole implies images of force, hierarchy, stability and command in the novel. The Castle Of Otranto, attempts to capture a sense of realism through its illustration of settings and characters. Burke commented that: whatever is fitted to produce such a tension must be productive of a passion similar to terror; and consequently must be a source of the sublime, though it should have no idea of danger connected with it [3] . It portrays a scene where one of the main characters, Tereza, is in front of a mirror and finds herself dealing with the conflict between identity and image. Her disconformities with her body act as a trigger for this questioning to arise and bring back memories from her childhood. The metaphor at the end of the paragraph on pornography conveys a feeling of vulgarity, violence and despicability. The idea of the body as a means for sex is a theme around which the passage also revolves and we are introduced to it by the inclusion of the term pornography . As a consequence, the reader is impacted and comprehends Tereza s deep concerns and overall heaviness of her character. We are accustomed to long sentences from the beginning, successful tool for the author to elongate and deepen the imagery of the passage. In addition, they simulate movement and provide the reader with the idea of Tereza s eyes moving along her skin, examining every detail of it. After this description, Kundera follows to a set of questions that arise in Tereza s mind. This change in punctuation clearly introduces the reader into a new environment, a more philosophical one where Tereza deliberates upon the relationship between soul and body. • 56. Taking a Look at Quorn PROJECT IDEA In our modern world one of our biggest problems is food, or rather a lack of food. To combat this problem Quorn was developed in 1925. However Quorn only recently became easily accessible to South Africans. What I aim to achieve with this project is to establish whether Mycoproteins are the best way forward. WHAT IS MYCOPROTEIN Mycoproteins are derived from the fungus Fusarium venenatum . This fungus is grown in a fermentation vat filled with glucose syrup and minerals and vitamins. To maintain growth oxygen is pumped in, carbon dioxide is removed and the vat is kept at a temperature between 350C to 420C. To form the all important protein, nitrogen is consistently added to the fungus. The result of all this optimization is that the fungus can double its mass every five hours. However even with this fast production rate the fungus must be dried to ~10% water, this was the main cost in the production of other single cell proteins. Of the dry mass of the fungus approximately 48% is protein with the remainder being fat, carbohydrates and cell wall. Currently the best single cell protein production system is unibio s u loop technology which converts natural gas into a highly concentrated, 71%, protein product. The mycoprotein used in Quorn was chosen above the natural gas system because the hyphae in the fungus are similar in length and width to genuine muscle fibres which gives the quorn a more realistic meaty texture.
