LCD, or liquid crystal display, is a type of display technology used in devices like digital watches and laptops that uses liquid crystals and polarizing filters to control the amount of light passing through each pixel. It works by passing an electric current through liquid crystals contained between two polarizing sheets, causing the crystals to align and block light in different patterns to create an image. There are different types of LCD panels like twisted nematic, IPS, VA, and advanced fringe field switching. LCDs offer advantages over other display types like taking up less desk space, using less energy, and not emitting radiation, but they can be more expensive and have slower response times and limited viewing angles than other options.
