The document proposes establishing a local area network (LAN) for the Advanced Technical Institute (ATI) to facilitate resource sharing across its six buildings. Introduction
About our ATI (Advance Technical Institute)
Our Advanced Technological Institute is inaugurated in 1996 under the parliament Act
No 29 of 1995. Mr.S.Jeyapalan the present academic coordinator. The new premise of our
ATI, Batticaloa is located Batticaloa – Kalmunai Road, Kovilkulam, Arayampathy.
There are three courses peroxided by our ATI, Batticaloa which are HNDA, HNDE and
HNDIT. Every segment has around up fifty students.
Establish a Network system to our ATI
Throughout our day – to – day development of our ATI Batticaloa, section we are in
need an advanced networking system to share software, hardware (resources) and making six
separate buildings of our ATI to gather in one roof virtually.
Consequently, this is a proposal how to establish and its cost of an advanced networking
system with Local Area Network (LAN). We hope in future it can be reduced the coast of
human, hardware resources and changes our ATI section very effective in Network system.

Problems
 In ATI system have several buildings and they have lot of students and staff, so that it
must to collect and maintain their details, attentions, student’s assignments, …. Etc….
 . Since those are running traditional (manual transition) method.
 Not only that in lecture hall but also lecture have problems to share his notes/ resources.
In that way arise some problems or difficulties.
 That the main problem is missing data/ data redundancy and wasting a lot of time.
Appropriate network/ Suggestion
Computer networks are classified by scale, components, and connection method. LANs (Local
Area Network) are a relatively small network that connects computers in the same physical
location, usually within a building or a campus. As oppose to WAN (Wide Area Networks)
that consist of multiple LANs and can connect different countries together. How a LAN is
connected and what components it uses will determine how fast, reliable, and accessible the
network.

Aim & Objectives
Our aim is to introduce appropriate strong network with a low coast.
Our main objectives are:
i. Resource sharing
 To goal is to provide all the program, data and hardware is available to everyone on
the network without regard to the physical location of the resource and the users.
ii. Provide the high reliability
 It is achieved by replicating the files in two or more machines, so in case of
unavailability (due to fail of hardware) the other copies can be used.
iii. Saving money
 This is due to the fact that the small computer has much better price to the
performance ration comparison that the large computer like mainframe.
iv. Secure
 Users are authenticated by their user name and password. Hence it is not possible
to access the data without proper account.
v. Internet sharing
 Local Area Network (LAN) provides the facility to share a single internet connection
among all LAN users. So, it helps to share the internet within all the building of ATI
through the network.
Challenges we would Face
 Sometimes everyone using LAN in same time loading above capacity, floating , replays
and protocol retry due to noise in the physical layer can reduce service below an
acceptable level and /or cause selective outages.
 Have to solve technical errors of certain issues while using LAN.
 Maintenance of technical equipment and providing safe guards.
 Keep Cyber Security , Secure from Hackers and Crackers.
