The La Garma cave in Cantabria, Spain is one of the most important prehistoric sites in Europe due to remains and artifacts found there. Though currently closed to visitors for investigation, archaeologists have discovered animal bones, an ancient flint knife from Andalusia, and cave paintings, indicating the site was inhabited for thousands of years and later used as a burial ground. Studies of the cave provide insight into the long evolution of its prehistoric inhabitants.
