The document describes a smart plug system created by Kuyashii Engineering to monitor home energy usage. The smart plugs wirelessly transmit power usage data to a main board that collects the information and uploads it to an online interface where users can view their energy consumption data. This allows users to analyze which devices use the most power and when in order to reduce energy usage and costs. The creators aim to make energy monitoring affordable and easy to install without professional assistance. Future work includes adding two-way communication so users can control power via the online interface.

The idea is to create a social network of sensors in which various sensors integrated to intel Galileo will send the data to the user.
Nowadays using various social networking sites like Facebook, twitter, google+ has become too main stream.
Now the idea is to integrate our home status to these social networking sites that is, creating a “Galileo link”.
Home status will be comprised of various readings taken by the sensors like IR sensor, LDR, temperature sensor.
Sensors send data to intel Galileo then Galileo acts as a client and sends that data to the social networking site.
For example in Facebook an account is created and that account is registered on Facebook developer. As soon as the account is registered on Facebook developer it creates an access token.
Access token is then included in python script running in the Galileo device.
Hence our data can be seen in our news feed and we just have to add the registered account as our friend

PhD Defense: Enabling Smart Homes Using Web TechnologiesAndreas Kamilaris
New technological advancements allow the Internet to penetrate in embedded computing. IPv6 envisions to merge the physical and the digital world, through the Internet. The Web of Things interconnects the expanding ecosystem of Internet-enabled embedded devices, by reusing well-accepted and understood Web principles. In this talk, we will present the development of a Web-based application framework for smart homes, supporting concurrent interaction from multiple family members. By employing intermediate request queues, associated with the physical devices of the smart home, our analysis shows that we can mask transmission failures and faults that occur in the wireless environment, thus enhancing the performance of smart home operations by means of fast retransmissions, load balancing and request priority techniques. In our analysis, we also derive formulas for estimating the response time of requests and for setting the request queue retransmission interval, an important design parameter of the system. In this way, reliability and timely responses from the devices are ensured. We demonstrate that, by using the Web as application layer, flexible applications for smart homes can be built, on top of heterogeneous embedded devices, with little effort. We address many issues related to Web-enabling household devices, from their local discovery and service description to the uniform interaction with them. Our technical evaluation indicates that the process of Web-enabling physical devices offers satisfactory performance, mainly in terms of response time and energy consumption, while modern Web techniques such as Web caching and event-based Web messaging can contribute in facilitating smart home operations. Through various case studies, we demonstrate that Web-based, energy-aware smart homes have the potential to provide flexible solutions to challenges such as energy awareness and conservation, and be smoothly integrated with the smart grid of electricity. Finally, this talk discusses some future research challenges, beyond the home environment, in which Web-based smart homes may constitute crucial elements in order to address them effectively.

NAIVE APPROACH FOR MEMORY MANAGEMENT IN SMART HOME GATEWAYSIAEME Publication
This paper proposes efficient replacement algorithms for managing bundles or services in home gateways. Memory management has been studied extensively in operating system field. Here two algorithms have been proposed. The first one is an extension of Knapsack problem which finds the optimal solution in a polynomial time. The second one is a heuristic that spans the dependency graph and tries to free the required amount of memory while minimizing the number of terminated services. Memory management for software bundles executed in home gateways differs from traditional memory management techniques. Proposed algorithm is implemented as a part of the framework to provide memory management. The gateway can download the corresponding bundles (that correspond to specific services) when it becomes necessary. The gateway tends to terminate the victim service rather than suspending it.

This project focus on a real time situation where we are wasting the electricity. Because of our carelessness the usage of current is increasing day by day. We are living in an era where so many peoples do not getting electricity properly. Electrical power is now the backbone of modern industrial society. Electricity is at the heart of many modern technologies, being used for electric power where electric current is used to energize equipment, electronics which deals with electrical circuits that involve active electrical components such as vacuum tubes, transistors, diodes and integrated circuits and associated passive interconnection technologies. In order to avoid the lack of electricity due to our carelessness we are implementing the new system that is known as AUTOMATIC TURN ON OFF SYSTEM. In this project, we are detecting the motion of a person or anything and turn off the electronic equipment's if there is no person. By this we can save the electricity. June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202
