Jihad and the World Essay
On the eleventh of September of 2001, 2993 people lost their lives in the destruction of the Twin
Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Both buildings collapsed within two hours of the
initial events, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. Al Qaida claimed responsibility of the
attacks, declaring Jihad against the United States of America. Jihad is a religious duty of Muslims, the
word Jihad means struggle . There are two general understanding of Jihad that can be found in the
Quran. First, the greater Jihad is the struggle of each individual against their personal struggles of self
development and maintenance of their standard of personal belief and daily routine. Muslims should
concentrate in their everyday life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But, they reject the idea of Jihad against innocent Muslims such as the terrorist attacks against Iraqi
civilians.
Liberal Muslim political organizations are against the idea of Jihad; they want to establish good
relations with other foreign countries based on respectful bonds that, among other things, will help in
the mutual development of economies and educational systems. The idea of Jihad will considered if a
real threat on their country already happened.
All non Muslims governments and parties in the world are against Jihad because they are likely to
become one of its targets and will lead to high civilian costs of life among the populations and the
degradation of civil rights that have been established. Since Jihad is affecting the whole world morally
and mentally, someone could ask Is Jihad ethical? Jihad could be examined by three philosophical
principles such as Natural Law, Utilitarianism and Categorical Imperative. In order to analyze Jihad
according to the three philosophical principles, a preview of each principle should be available.
Natural law is an ethical prospective that deals with Nature and religious beliefs. According to this
principle, anything came from nature or happened because of nature s causes should be ethical. Also,
it s related to GOD and religion, an action could be considered ethical

Women Of A Female And A Minority
As for me being a Hispanic female, there are many stereotypes and judgments are put not only on
myself as a female, but as a person of the Latin descendant. In our society today, we see many forms
of stereotypes, racism and discrimination all over the media and even in our everyday lives. As I can
only speak on behalf of a female and a minority, I can say that there are large amounts of stereotypes
and images that we have to live up to in this society; despite my personal feelings and beliefs towards
this, it is part of our country and we must live with it. However, after preparing for this assignment,
my eyes were opened not only are minorities and people of color being discriminated against, but also
Caucasian individuals. For this assignment, I had the privilege to interview six beautiful women of
different races. Three of the women that were interviewed were Caucasian, two were Mexican and one
was African American. After having the opportunity to speak with these women, I was able to gain a
better knowledge and understanding on how three different races believe it is to be someone who is
white and someone of color. For the most part, it seemed as if the minority women s answers were
somewhat similar; however, each woman was able to speak their opinion due to certain personal
experiences that they have had. Whether it was with a white person or being that they are a female of
color, they able to share their experience and how they felt about the situation. On the other

Brain Plasticity
The brain is a remarkable engine. It is so remarkable, and complex that researchers and neuroscientist
today are still discovering many fascinating wonders about the brain. Brain plasticity is an area with a
substantial amount of research. Brain plasticity is the brains ability to change and reorganize the
components of it s structures and mechanism (Mikadze, 2014). This is an extraordinary ability that the
brain has. It is even more amazing to consider how the brain does this after brain damage in stroke
patients. In order to comprehend just how wonderful brain plasticity after brain damage due to stroke
is, it is important to consider the different types of stokes, several theories, ideas and techniques that

Knowing that the brain can undergo incredible damage and through many different process regain
some functioning, or all functioning is simply spectacular. Even though the brain is almost impossible
to fully understand, because of brain plasticity it is incredibly resilient and one remarkable engine.

Computers and Homeland Security Essay
Computers and Homeland Security
Homeland Security is one of the most important departments in the United States. The United States
Department of Homeland Security job is to reduce our vulnerability to terrorism and lead a national
effort to help prevent terrorist attacks on our nation (Computer Concept, pg. 50). As technology
evolves over the course of time, computers end up playing a crucial role in homeland security.
Computer systems are used throughout everyday lifestyles in order to make difficult tasks much
simple. The government utilizes such systems in order to support their efforts in locating suspected
terrorists throughout U.S. boundary lines. There are several software programs, which can be ... Show

One negative component of computers is that hackers often find methods to penetrate the information
barriers. Homeland security agencies are trying to secure the national computer with programs that
target individual computer owners, corporate computer networks, internet service providers, and
communications carriers (Computer Concepts, pg. 51). The main purpose of the program US CERT is
to reduce the vulnerability of computer systems. Hackers usually try to harm computers by placing
viruses or worms in them, but the US CERT program helps reduce the damage of these viruses and
worms. US Cert reduces damage by sending mail to the computer when threats and vulnerabilities are
found.
The National Security Agency coordinates, directs, and performs highly specialized activities to
protect U.S. government information systems and produce foreign signals intelligence information

able to function as well as it does. The NSA has been with computer security research, investigating a
variety of security topics. This system helping the government must be able to separate information
between confidentiality and integrity to help provide system security. An operating system security

The Importance of Function Over Form in the Classical...
In the 18th century, the concerto was transformed into a viable instrumental genre to both demonstrate
virtuosity as well as a cohesive character that embodied the natural. Though the series of changes from
the Baroque concerto grosso to the Classical concerto were gradual and cannot be attributed to a
single composer, the Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor K. 466 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a
skillful representation of the genre in that era. Of particular interest in this concerto is the treatment of
sonata form in the first movement. When compared to other instrumental genres of that era, there is a
tangible divide between the sonata form of the concerto and that of other instrumental genres such as
the symphony. To understand this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
466, is a synthesis of both sonata form and the Baroque ritornello principle. In this concerto, for
example, the opening orchestra tutti is not a first exposition, because it remains in the tonic throughout
and does not contain the complete compliment of themes. Thus, this tutti serves as preparation for the
soloist, who enters with a novel theme in measure 77. After the completion of the exposition in both D
minor and F major by soloist and orchestra, there is a short transition (mm. 174 192) based upon the
opening material leading into the tonally unstable development. The remainder of the first movement
retains much of this format. As W.H. Hadow states, the form of the soloist s portions are thus
comparable to sonata form, but the form of the whole is still governed by the ritornello. The different
manifestation of sonata form in the genre of the concerto may lead one to believe that the form of the
Classical concerto developed independently of other genres that exercise this form. In fact, K. 466,
with its ritornello principle, bares close resemblance to the da capo aria. As the Classical concerto
functions as a platform for virtuosic display for the soloist, similar to an aria for a vocalist, the form of
the first movement of K. 466 is a result of the stylistic and functional demands of the concerto. In the
18th century, there was an increase in the ideals of contrast, communication, expression and

Out of the silent planet
Out of the silent planet by C.S Lewis is a novel that denotes the difference between the social system
on planet earth and the planet Malacandra. In Malacandra, groups live in harmony with one another
and complement each other. On earth, the social system is brutal and evil. The novel is a science
fiction that covers Dr. Ransoms (major character) adventures and encounters on a planet that is
entirely different from earth. Ransoms lands into this planet by accident after being kidnapped by two
evil men (Devine and Weston) and transported to the planet Malacandra (Mars) by spacecraft. In

This is different to what happens on earth where groups are in constant dominance wars, often
breaking into factions that regard each other as inherently inferior. The kidnappers, Devine and
Weston represent this dominance character of Earthly beings.
On earth, people are self centered and do not care for each other. In contrast, On Malacandra, various
species live and work together (Gibbons 88). There three intelligent species in Malacandra and their
differences of knowledge is their strength. The pfifltriggi excavate and makes things out of their
excavation, the Seroni are the master of knowledge and the hrossa were poets (Lewis, 68). Even with
these different talents, there is no group that wants to dominate the other. They know that they have
differences but have accepted them since they can talk to each other, they can cooperate, and they
have the same ethics (Lewis 156).
The leadership system on earth is also different from the other planets. Unlike the earth, all the other
planets have a structured leadership; they have a ruler (Oyarsa). The earth is unruly because people
have no common Oyarsa and this makes people bent. Everyone on earth wants to be a little Oyarsa
himself (Lewis 102). The Oyarsa of Malacandra, in reference to the actions of Devine and Weston of
kidnapping, is surprised how any creature could be so

Comparison of Federico García Lorca s Poems, Romance de...
Comparison of Federico García Lorca s Poems, Romance de la Pena Negra and La Aurora Romance
de la Pena Negra (Ballad of the Black Sorrow) was written by Lorca on the 30. July 1924
(Catedra:80). It was one of a collection of poems he entitled the Romancero Gitano (Gypsy Ballads)
that, when published, was a huge success, among academics and the general public alike, making this
book one of his most well known pieces of work. There are many reasons why the poems received
such wide acclaim in terms of Lorca s wider audience: It is clear that the ballad, with its simple, eight
syllable line rhyming structure makes for uncomplicated reading, in addition, the subject matter would
have sparked general interest due to the mysterious nature ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What better way to reach the masses than via the ballad, a form of verse with a rhyming metre that
was easy to remember and historically used by those unable to read and write to pass stories on
through the generations since the times of the Reconquista. This move towards social responsibility in
the arts was intensified after the American economy crashed in 1929 and is much more tangible in the
collection of poems Lorca entitled Poeta en Nueva York, which he wrote between 1929 and 1930
when he lived in New York and was able to see the effects of the Great Depression first hand. The
Gypsy Ballads have been described as, una verdadera serie de mitos gitanoandaluces (Catedra: 100)
and this is what Lorca hoped to achieve, a collection of mythical stories set in a part real and part
imaginary ancient Andalusia, told in ballad format and using the gypsies as its main characters
because it was this race, ancient, timeless and mysterious, that, through songs, dances and traditions
passed down through generations, were most able to project the ancient Andalusia that Lorca wanted
to portray. The driving force behind the Gypsy Ballads is the myth of the duende , a spiritual force that
takes possession of the best artists in southern

Defusing the Conflict in Northern Ireland
It seems that all, throughout history, Protestants and Catholics are always butting heads. Tensions were
particularly high between Ireland and Britain with Ireland being Catholic and Britain Protestant. This
religious discrepancy had a real effect on the Irish people, interfering with their Catholic tradition. The
Irish people had longed for independence from the British for a long time; but, Britain really managed
to agitate the Irish when they sent settlers from Britain and Scotland to settle in Northern Ireland. This
agitation eventually grew into the Northern Ireland War, as the Protestants began to take control. If the
Protestants had just settled into Northern Ireland and went about their life, there may have never been
a war. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

felt that the Protestants were affecting their identity, and they were afraid of losing it. One can see that
that Irish united to fight for their cultural identity which was slowly being melded with the Protestant
culture. Through the loss of the education system, they were losing their religious tradition. There
were no more churches, and slowly their faith was becoming less connected to the people. By
removing the identity of the Irish Catholics and influencing their culture directly and indirectly they
are angering the Catholics, provoking rebellions.
It was not the Irish Catholic identity that was being lost, through the restriction enforced on them they
were also losing their political stature. They lost the power to have any say in the running of

The Norman Conquest Research Paper
The Norman Conquest was a significant event in British history. William Duke of Normandy s
invasion in 1066 resulted in the battle of Hastings, during which the Saxon king Harold Godwinson

William to take control of England. One of the first castles was built at Pevensey, but the most famous
castle was the Tower of London, built to conquer and control London and to provide protection for the

This changed when Elizabeth I appointed her cousin George Carey governor of the Island. After his
appointment as governor, Carey spent much time on the island, writing pamphlets and memoranda on
its dence. Renowned for his hospitality at Carisbrooke Castle, he was unpopular with the local gentry,
who complained of misconduct and use of the title governor . He had a strong sense of his own
importance. He began by rebuilding the domestic buildings of the castle, which had fallen into decay,
to provide accommodation worthy of his status. The hall block and St Peter s Chapel were radically
changed with the insertion of an upper floor. He brutally desecrated Isabella de Fortibus s chapel in the
southeast corner of the hall as he needed to increase accommodation and so built an upper floor in the
chapel, destroying its medieval detail. Adjoining the hall he added a new range, known as Carey s

modest additions to the defences in 1587. In the next invasion scare of 1596 7, however, he persuaded
the queen and the local gentry to pay for the creation of a major, modern artillery fort as Carisbrooke.
This took the form of a low, roughly rectangular rampart nearly a mile long, with five bastions. These
defences were completed in 1602, but were never used in action. In March 1600 Carey fell ill and went

The main topic of this article is the language that is used in Hamlet and how the audience interpreted it
and how the audience has become familiar with things they may have not completely understood the
first couple of times they had heard it. The author helps explain how the language it used to the
audience by comparing the play to things people would be more familiar with. The author Sandra
Young gives information on the certain languages of Hamlet by William Shakespeare. The author also
talks about the inner being in the language of the play and how people became more familiar with it
even years later after it had been performed. Young also talks about what the actor feels like he
recognizes in the character. She also states that Hamlet seems to have an almost spiritual hold. Her
examples of different ways to compare Hamlet to other things helps the audience to better understand
what is happening in the play.

Fluorescence Spectroscopy And The Emission Wavelength Of...
Abstract Fluorescent properties are used to study protein and small molecule interactions. Fluorescent
spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its
emission wavelength was 545 nm. Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation
wavelength was 330 nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be
indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction between bovine
serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) was studied through
fluorescence and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of
358 nm which could also be indicative of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the
emission wavelength was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow
FRET.
Introduction
Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic acids of a
macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain wavelengths and then emit
it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light it is excitation and the light released is
emission. The light particles, photons, hit a fluorophore to excite the molecule (Voet et. al 2013).
Excitation occurs by the valence electrons of the molecule receiving energy and moving to a higher
energy state from the ground state. The excited electrons will later return to the ground state because

Critical Analysis Of Richard Georg Strauss s An Alpine...
Richard Georg Strauss was born June 11th, 1864, he was one of the leading German composers of the
late Romantic and early Modern eras. He is known for his operas such as Elektra, Die Frau one
Schatten, and Salome. The composition I am going to analyze from Richard Strauss is his An Alpine
Symphony. An Alpine Symphony begins in low volume, leaving me with a feeling of suspense. The
instruments that commenced the piece was a fragment of the string section known as the second
violins. The string section completely joined in but became over taken by a fragment of the brass
section which was the trombones. The trombones played a long note, this theme reminds me of a
funeral because of how silent the musicians are playing their instruments. ... Show more content on

New instruments were introduced in this section, the instruments introduced are the timpani and the
crash cymbals. The timpani and crash cymbals are two members of the percussion section. The
timpani and crash cymbals brought back a sentimental value to me, making me feel happiness because
a few years ago, I learned how to play both instruments for the Knox Pride of Troy Band. The two
instruments bring in excitement, the crashing of the cymbals and the rumble of the timpani are two
loud figures, I believe this section represents the composers emotion when he was waking up from a
long night of sleep. Strauss probably felt an attachment to the day time because it is possible that he
did his best work during the day time. The xylophone was ultimately annexed during this section as
the final member of the percussion section. Like the previous section Night , the light section began to
annex in the french horns, trombones, and string section. The strings along with the timpani and
trombone added a dramatic feeling making me feel warm inside because of how clear and filled with
emotion they played. The light section ends with an allegro movement of the timpani, the woodwinds
join in, and the trumpets are officially
Partlow III introduced to end the section. The section kept a high volume, it would never drop, it
would constantly rise piece by piece. One piece that did not effect me was the coda, because I was
already used to the coda of the previous section,

The Effects Of Therapeutic Play With School Age Children
For children, surgery can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. Compared to adults, children
undergoing surgery are more likely to experience stress, anxiety, and feelings of ambiguity due to their
cognitive development and limited capacity to understand reasoning behind his or her surgery. Today,
the implementation of child focused preoperative preparation is lacking. With the increasing amount
of same day surgical procedures, children only have hours to build rapport with their healthcare team
and receive preparation. Play is an important component in interventions used with children who
experience stress in the hospital. Most studies focused on therapeutic play have been conducted on
preschool age children, which is why the authors of the current study chose to focus on the effects of
therapeutic play with school age children. The authors aimed to examine if school age children who
received therapeutic play would (a.) report lesser anxiety directly before/after surgery; (b.)
demonstrate lesser negative emotions during anesthesia; and (c.) report less pain following their
operation, when compared to school age children who received standard care. Two hundred and three
school age children undergoing day surgery participated in the current study and were randomly
assigned to either the experimental group (n=97) or to the control group (n=106). Those in the control
group received routine preparation at the time of admission to the unit for evaluation, which was

Free Community College Analysis
College has always been a part of my life plan. From the time I was a little girl, I dreamed about what
it would be like to walk across that stage with a degree in my hand. Sadly, this isn t the case for some.
To many potential students, the idea of going to school is one that they dream about, but never take the
steps to achieve and the reason boils down to one simple thing cost. While community college isn t the
most expensive option out there, it can still get extremely pricey, I know from experience. This seems
like it s a personal problem, but in fact, it should be a state problem. Free community college in
California will not only be a great benefit to potential students, but to the state economy and
government, as well as the local ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While it s obvious that the costs of education will increase on the part of the state, the outcome will
counterbalance that cost in a rather simple way. Educated people, usually, leave school and enter
higher paying jobs (Los Angeles Times). This, alone, will greatly affect the economy in a positive
way. It will increase the number of people stimulating the economy by buying higher ticket items (like
houses, cars, etc.) and help keep the population out of debt. Studies also suggest that attending a
community college increases the chances of a student attending another college to complete higher
level degrees (USA Today College). More than likely, that student will be paying to attend that
college, which is a payment straight to the government. Having more educated workers will also
decrease the number of people on government assistance programs (The American Prospect). Because
people are working better jobs with higher incomes, the chances of them having to sign up for
programs like Welfare and MediCal are greatly reduced. There are also studies that suggest that
educated people tend to be healthier, which will give the state a healthier population (Global
Partnership for Education) as well as lower the costs put into government funded

Reducing Recidivism and Increasing Public Safety in Virginia

Summary Article One
In 2010, the Virginia Department of Corrections (VDOC) began thoroughly investigating its security
measures, programs, human resources and their combined effort in reducing recidivism. VDOC
started to look within the system, and try to make changes internally, wanting to reconstruct the entire
system, making it the main focus of VDOC. Starting with the Article of Robert Martinson s 1974

prison system, psychologists had little hard data to contribute, but in the last few years the importance
of child abuse, poverty, early exposure to substance abuse and other risk factors for criminal behavior.
The findings suggest that individual centered approaches to crime prevention need to be
complemented by community based approaches with programs provided. Researchers have also found
that the pessimistic nothing works attitude toward rehabilitation that helped justify punitive prison
policies in the 1970s was overstated. When properly implemented, work programs, education and
psychotherapy can ease prisoners transitions to the free world. Finally, researchers have demonstrated
the power of the prison environment to shape behavior, often to the detriment of both prisoners and
prison workers. The Stanford Prison Experiment, which Haney co authored in 1973 with Stanford
University psychologist and APA Past president Philip G. Zimbardo, PhD, is one example. It showed
that psychologically healthy individuals could become sadistic or depressed when placed in a prison

Thesis About The Mongols
Interpretation
Historians and experts believed that Mongols are the fiercest nomadic group in Asia. Matthew Paris,
13th century chronicler, described the Mongols as They are inhuman...more like monsters than men.
The common trait about the Mongol leaders is that all of them use brutality to punish their enemies.
They believe that they are the scourges of God that were sent from Heaven to punish those who do
bad things or evildoers as they call it. Despite their cruelty, Mongols were hospitable to their visitors
and it was proved by famous merchant Marco Polo on his book, The Travels of Marco Polo.

Families that are greatly related to each other form clans for a simple purpose of working together in
able to survive in their everyday lives. But as the Mongol clans are becoming larger and larger, they
have decided to form a larger unit in a form of tribes. In Mongolian tribes, people were able to choose
their leaders by election in a social feast and a political gathering called quiriltai. But the thing
is,people cannot just choose anyone to be their leader because the tribe leader that must be chosen
must come from the most powerful clan in their tribe and it must have a skill, more specifically,
military skills that the chosen leader must be able to make their tribe stronger in all aspects. Also, the
tribe leader must have a ties and connections to the noble families or ruling clan of the other tribes
which are called Borjigid or Kiyad.By the end of 12th century, Genghis Khan was elected to be the
tribe leader of their tribe and after almost 20 years, he was able to unite all the tribes in Mongolia and
he was then titled as the Great Khan . Under the rule of Genghis, he replaced the old tribal leaders to
military commanders. The military commander s son could inherit his father s position. As the

How Is Princess Diana A Hero
Many consider Princess Diana to have been the most favored members of the British Monarch
(biography.com editors 1). She is the former wife of Prince Charles, and the mother to Princes William
and Harry. Her charitable work with children in impoverished countries has formed her reputation as a
role model for the people of Britain and the rest of the world. She traveled across the world helping
those who are sick and injured. Her work in Africa with the children injured by landmines brought her
into the global spotlight (Wexford 3). Princess Diana was more than just a public figure and royal, she
was a loving person who brought light to social issues and cared for those who could not fend for
themselves. A hero as defined in Webster s Dictionary is a person who a person admired for
achievements or noble qualities or one who shows great courage. However, a hero is more than a
person s achievements. A hero is a person who is philanthropic, generous, and kind. Heros fight for
those who can not fight for themselves, and do not judge those who they are fighting for. They are
charitable in ways other than donating money, they give their time and effort in order to make the lives
of others more pleasant. Heros display bravery. They are willing to go into a dangerous situation to
help others that have been affected. Social pressures and judgements do not affect a hero s willingness
to help others, they are willing to push through what others say in order to complete the tasks

Eve Adam And Eve
Eve Adam
Adam and Eve is a well know story in the book of Genesis. There are many versions of this religious
story, and many interpretation that go along with it. Focusing on the Hebrew versions of Genesis 1 and
2, comparing the two similar creation stories of Eve Adam, and look into how the Early Christianity
New Testament affected the way woman were seen as well as treated. In the book Eve Adam by Kvam
Schearing and Ziegler, it focuses on Genesis 1; the stories of Creation.
On the sixth day Elohim (God) creates humankind in his image. The first man and woman are created
simultaneously and jointly receive Elohim s command to be fruitful, to multiply, and to subdue and
have dominion over the earth. Their creation, Elohim remarks, is very good. On the seventh day,
Elohim rests. (Eve 16)
When interpreting this paragraph a few things come to mind. One, Elohim is considered perfect
because he is God. So humankind being created in his perfect image creates the idea that humans are
perfect like Elohim. As one looks further into the passage it specifically says that man and woman
were created together. Meaning that man and woman were equally created. Then after man and
women were created simultaneously, Elohim wanted the man and women to multiply and be fruitful.
Meaning that the man and woman had an equal gender roles with creating life through out the Earth
that Elohim had created for them. As one continues on reading The Book of Genesis, another creation

The Confederate Flag Is A Symbol Of Southern Pride
Another avenue of views about the controversy that the Confederate flag fuels racism or gives our
impressionable young men and women an avenue to racism tendencies comes from our political
parties and the platforms that they adopt. Democrat and Republican Party do have different views of
this controversy. As in every issue there will always be conflicting numbers that make no sense, but it
seems that the Democratic Party view of the controversy had the biggest swing in recent months. In
gallop polls of the 1990s Democrats were solidly behind the Confederate flag as a symbol of Southern
pride and remembering the historical value of the Confederate flag as roughly 60% of Democrats
during this period had that opinion. Since the recent controversy began that number has went down to
the latest poll taken in July of 2015 that showed that on 70% of Democrats now believe that the
Confederate flag represents racism. With the recent debate and pictures of a young white male who
killed 9 black church goers draped in a Confederate flag may surely have boosted numbers it still is a
large growing concern in the Democratic Party that their thinking could have been wrong in past
years. The Republican Party through the same time frame have steadied their view and not changed
much over the years. As in the 90s the Republican Party view of the Confederate flag has always been
in favor of the flag being displayed at government buildings. When the poll was taken in July of 2015

Figurative Language In The Masque Of Red Death
Edgar Allan Poe was a famous American writer and literary critic. Poe is best known for his short
stories, particularly his tales of mystery and fear. Poe has a magic and dark way of writing. The
Masque of Red Death is one of Poe s most famous stories. He proficiently used some death
symbolism, bloody imagery, and skillful figurative language in order to contribute to his purpose to
inform his reader impossibility to escape from the death no matter who you are. Through using the
deathly symbolism in this story skillfully, Poe alluded to people to the part of life that people have to
go through without the controled by people. First he described seven chambers (seven rooms in the
palace), In blue...falling in heavy folds upon a carpet of the same material and hue ( Poe 43) . Seven
rooms were represented to seven parts of life the blue room, which is located the east, represents birth.
The next room is purple, suggests the beginnings of growth. Green, the next color, suggests the young
of life the age of spring , orange is the summer and autumn of life is the age of adult . White, the next
color, suggests age with white hair, and bones of the age of old . Violet is a shadowy color, the color
represents people who were near the death . And the last room, the black room, is death. Otherwise,
seven rooms were set up East to West like the position of the Sun. That means that no matter who you

shooting. On March fifth, a angry mob of colonists started to protest against a lone sentry that was

mob started to slowly grow and the punishment against that lone soldier started to rapidly increase.

How Did The Founding Fathers Maintain Religious Freedom In...
After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair
and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to have
was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British control the
church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of
england also had a say in the way they were governed. These two things frustrated the colonists very
much and they wanted to make sure they would never have anything like that again in their newly
established country. While writing the constitution the founding fathers said Congress shall make no

The first reason is that it was tyrannical and against our unalienable rights to have a religion forced
upon us, one that a lot of people may not believe in, but they would still be forced to worship and
participate in church activities. This would no longer be a free country if we were forced to attend a
church. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make
decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute
power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives. The founding fathers wanted to
steer clear of all possible future tyranny which is why they created this separation of church and state
and freedom of religion. This was the best way to create a fair and just government for this new
country they just fought for to keep. If we did not have separation of church and state then I would not

Can I create a hybrid with the earth elemental? Make the second race a random choice though.
In the character selection, there was an advanced choice called hybrid. It was an option where you
could mix races together for a maximum of three races one could mix into one creature. The hybrid
would receive the racial traits of all the selected races, though it would be random. A bad hybrid might
receive only the negative aspects and a good hybrid might receive only the positive.
It was completely random and once a hybrid was made, the racial traits would be locked. You could
create a different hybrid though. For example, if I mixed a high elf and mountain dwarf but wasn t
satisfied with the result, I couldn t remix them. The results would be locked and I couldn t change
them. I could attempt to mix a high elf and a river dwarf though.

  • 2. Jihad and the World Essay On the eleventh of September of 2001, 2993 people lost their lives in the destruction of the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City. Both buildings collapsed within two hours of the initial events, destroying nearby buildings and damaging others. In our society today, we see many forms of stereotypes, racism and discrimination all over the media and even in our everyday lives. As I can only speak on behalf of a female and a minority, I can say that there are large amounts of stereotypes and images that we have to live up to in this society; despite my personal feelings and beliefs towards this, it is part of our country and we must live with it. However, after preparing for this assignment, my eyes were opened not only are minorities and people of color being discriminated against, but also Caucasian individuals. For this assignment, I had the privilege to interview six beautiful women of different races. Three of the women that were interviewed were Caucasian, two were Mexican and one was African American. After having the opportunity to speak with these women, I was able to gain a better knowledge and understanding on how three different races believe it is to be someone who is white and someone of color. For the most part, it seemed as if the minority women s answers were somewhat similar; however, each woman was able to speak their opinion due to certain personal experiences that they have had. Whether it was with a white person or being that they are a female of color, they able to share their experience and how they felt about the situation. On the other ... • 6. The Importance of Function Over Form in the Classical... In the 18th century, the concerto was transformed into a viable instrumental genre to both demonstrate virtuosity as well as a cohesive character that embodied the natural. Though the series of changes from the Baroque concerto grosso to the Classical concerto were gradual and cannot be attributed to a single composer, the Piano Concerto No. 20 in D minor K. 466 by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is a skillful representation of the genre in that era. Of particular interest in this concerto is the treatment of sonata form in the first movement. When compared to other instrumental genres of that era, there is a tangible divide between the sonata form of the concerto and that of other instrumental genres such as the symphony. To understand this ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 466, is a synthesis of both sonata form and the Baroque ritornello principle. In this concerto, for example, the opening orchestra tutti is not a first exposition, because it remains in the tonic throughout and does not contain the complete compliment of themes. Thus, this tutti serves as preparation for the soloist, who enters with a novel theme in measure 77. After the completion of the exposition in both D minor and F major by soloist and orchestra, there is a short transition (mm. 174 192) based upon the opening material leading into the tonally unstable development. The remainder of the first movement retains much of this format. As W.H. Hadow states, the form of the soloist s portions are thus comparable to sonata form, but the form of the whole is still governed by the ritornello. The different manifestation of sonata form in the genre of the concerto may lead one to believe that the form of the Classical concerto developed independently of other genres that exercise this form. In fact, K. 466, with its ritornello principle, bares close resemblance to the da capo aria. As the Classical concerto functions as a platform for virtuosic display for the soloist, similar to an aria for a vocalist, the form of the first movement of K. 466 is a result of the stylistic and functional demands of the concerto. Fluorescent spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its emission wavelength was 545 nm. Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation wavelength was 330 nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) was studied through fluorescence and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of 358 nm which could also be indicative of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the emission wavelength was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow FRET. Introduction Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic acids of a macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain wavelengths and then emit it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light it is excitation and the light released is emission. The light particles, photons, hit a fluorophore to excite the molecule (Voet et. al 2013). Researchers have also found that the pessimistic nothing works attitude toward rehabilitation that helped justify punitive prison policies in the 1970s was overstated. When properly implemented, work programs, education and psychotherapy can ease prisoners transitions to the free world. Finally, researchers have demonstrated the power of the prison environment to shape behavior, often to the detriment of both prisoners and prison workers. The Stanford Prison Experiment, which Haney co authored in 1973 with Stanford University psychologist and APA Past president Philip G. Zimbardo, PhD, is one example. Matthew Paris, 13th century chronicler, described the Mongols as They are inhuman...more like monsters than men. The common trait about the Mongol leaders is that all of them use brutality to punish their enemies. They believe that they are the scourges of God that were sent from Heaven to punish those who do bad things or evildoers as they call it. Despite their cruelty, Mongols were hospitable to their visitors and it was proved by famous merchant Marco Polo on his book, The Travels of Marco Polo. But as the Mongol clans are becoming larger and larger, they have decided to form a larger unit in a form of tribes. In Mongolian tribes, people were able to choose their leaders by election in a social feast and a political gathering called quiriltai. But the thing is,people cannot just choose anyone to be their leader because the tribe leader that must be chosen must come from the most powerful clan in their tribe and it must have a skill, more specifically, military skills that the chosen leader must be able to make their tribe stronger in all aspects. Also, the tribe leader must have a ties and connections to the noble families or ruling clan of the other tribes which are called Borjigid or Kiyad.By the end of 12th century, Genghis Khan was elected to be the tribe leader of their tribe and after almost 20 years, he was able to unite all the tribes in Mongolia and he was then titled as the Great Khan . She is the former wife of Prince Charles, and the mother to Princes William and Harry. Her charitable work with children in impoverished countries has formed her reputation as a role model for the people of Britain and the rest of the world. Focusing on the Hebrew versions of Genesis 1 and 2, comparing the two similar creation stories of Eve Adam, and look into how the Early Christianity New Testament affected the way woman were seen as well as treated. In the book Eve Adam by Kvam Schearing and Ziegler, it focuses on Genesis 1; the stories of Creation. On the sixth day Elohim (God) creates humankind in his image. The first man and woman are created simultaneously and jointly receive Elohim s command to be fruitful, to multiply, and to subdue and have dominion over the earth. Their creation, Elohim remarks, is very good. On the seventh day, Elohim rests. (Eve 16) When interpreting this paragraph a few things come to mind. One, Elohim is considered perfect because he is God. So humankind being created in his perfect image creates the idea that humans are perfect like Elohim. As one looks further into the passage it specifically says that man and woman were created together. Meaning that man and woman were equally created. Then after man and women were created simultaneously, Elohim wanted the man and women to multiply and be fruitful. Meaning that the man and woman had an equal gender roles with creating life through out the Earth that Elohim had created for them. The Confederate Flag Is A Symbol Of Southern Pride Another avenue of views about the controversy that the Confederate flag fuels racism or gives our impressionable young men and women an avenue to racism tendencies comes from our political parties and the platforms that they adopt. Democrat and Republican Party do have different views of this controversy. As in every issue there will always be conflicting numbers that make no sense, but it seems that the Democratic Party view of the controversy had the biggest swing in recent months. In gallop polls of the 1990s Democrats were solidly behind the Confederate flag as a symbol of Southern pride and remembering the historical value of the Confederate flag as roughly 60% of Democrats during this period had that opinion. Since the recent controversy began that number has went down to the latest poll taken in July of 2015 that showed that on 70% of Democrats now believe that the Confederate flag represents racism. With the recent debate and pictures of a young white male who killed 9 black church goers draped in a Confederate flag may surely have boosted numbers it still is a large growing concern in the Democratic Party that their thinking could have been wrong in past years. The Republican Party through the same time frame have steadied their view and not changed much over the years. As in the 90s the Republican Party view of the Confederate flag has always been in favor of the flag being displayed at government buildings. When the poll was taken in July of 2015 roughly the ... After the revolutionary war the founding fathers set out to create a new government that would be fair and just, and that the people would control. One of the first concepts they knew they wanted to have was religious freedom here in this new country. Previously when they were under British control the church of england was the only church they were allowed to go to and worship in. The church of england also had a say in the way they were governed. The second reason is the fact that having a national church would give them power to make decisions in government and be able to control the citizens the when the citizens should have absolute power over all laws being voted on and all elected representatives.
