As for me being a Hispanic female, there are many stereotypes and judgments are put not only on
myself as a female, but as a person of the Latin descendant. In our society today, we see many forms
of stereotypes, racism and discrimination all over the media and even in our everyday lives. As I can

different races. Three of the women that were interviewed were Caucasian, two were Mexican and one
was African American. After having the opportunity to speak with these women, I was able to gain a
better knowledge and understanding on how three different races believe it is to be someone who is
white and someone of color. For the most part, it seemed as if the minority women s answers were
somewhat similar; however, each woman was able to speak their opinion due to certain personal

Abstract Fluorescent properties are used to study protein and small molecule interactions. Fluorescent
spectrophotometry determined the excitation wavelength of eosin isothiocyanate to be 525 nm and its
emission wavelength was 545 nm. Glycogen phosphorylase was similarly studied. The excitation
wavelength was 330 nm and the emission wavelength was 360 nm. The emission wavelength could be
indicative of the presence of the fluorophore, tryptophan. The potential interaction between bovine
serum albumin (BSA) and 1 anilino 8 naphthalene sulfonic acid (ANS) was studied through
fluorescence and fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET). BSA had an emission wavelength of
358 nm which could also be indicative of a tryptophan. When BSA and ANS were mixed together, the
emission wavelength was longer suggesting that the molecules interact with each other and follow
FRET.

Fluorescence spectroscopy is a useful technique to determine the proteins and nucleic acids of a
macromolecule. Some molecules, fluorophores, can absorb light at certain wavelengths and then emit
it at another wavelength. When the molecule absorbs light it is excitation and the light released is

For children, surgery can be an overwhelming and stressful experience. Compared to adults, children
undergoing surgery are more likely to experience stress, anxiety, and feelings of ambiguity due to their
cognitive development and limited capacity to understand reasoning behind his or her surgery. Today,
the implementation of child focused preoperative preparation is lacking. With the increasing amount
of same day surgical procedures, children only have hours to build rapport with their healthcare team
and receive preparation. Play is an important component in interventions used with children who
experience stress in the hospital. Most studies focused on therapeutic play have been conducted on
preschool age children, which is why the authors of the current study chose to focus on the effects of
therapeutic play with school age children. The authors aimed to examine if school age children who
