Teacher observation and peer review are valuable professional development strategies used to ensure quality teaching. To ensure that there is pedagogical merit to the process and genuine opportunity for professional reflection, the process requires another expert teacher to be in the same room at the same time (Centra, 2000 & Paulsen, 2002). Given that tertiary education is one of the most casualised sectors in Australia, the US and UK (Kift, 2002), trying to schedule two teachers into the same room is often the greatest challenge.
In this presentation, Bronwyn, Gemma and Steve share their experience of piloting Zoom, a Navitas supported technology, to achieve teacherless observation at Curtin College. They explore how this innovative use of Zoom came about, practical considerations, unexpected benefits, feedback from the teachers themselves and future plans to embed this process across the College in 2019.

The Kaleidoscope Project, funded by a Next Generation Learning Challenges (NGLC) Wave One grant, focuses on supporting the academic success of at-risk student populations by creating effective, sustainable, and collaborative courses using open educational resources (OER), open source software, sound instructional design, a closed-loop assessment process, and detailed analysis of learning and success results. The end result is an innovative scaling strategy with the potential to significantly disrupt higher education.

My recent presentation from the East Midlands Learning Technology Winter 2015 meeting discussing and highlighting the power of Digital Assessment for teachers, students and schools.
Publishers and OER are generally thought to mix like oil and water. Learning Objects, a Cengage Business Unit, is making significant strides to bridge this gap by designing and delivering OER-based courseware for colleges and universities. In this session, we provide an overview of our efforts to provide instructors, curriculum designers, and academic leaders with reliable, high quality, effective, learning materials that are easy to implement, support, and scale to large numbers of students. In doing so, we are constantly evaluating (together with our institutional partners) the balance between affordability, total-cost-of-learning, and learning outcome achievement. We provide some early insights into this process and the broader LO / Cengage OER strategy.
A keynote presentation for the Online Teaching Pathways for Early-Career Criminologists & Sociologists
by University of Glasgow, Hong Kong University, U21.
Abstract: We have all had to pivot rapidly from teaching face-to face to teaching fully online and have learned many lessons along the way, in a particularly short space of time. In many cases, if our IT groups and vendors had not equally risen to the occasion this would not have been possible. However, what has been observed is that those who have fared better over these recent months have been those institutions with well-established frameworks in place to mediate their technology-enhanced learning (TEL). That is, they have recognised processes that define how they translate what is in policy, procedures and planning into practice with appropriate IT scaffolding. Such a framework can be found within a number of TEL quality tools, that are designed to provide an institution with clear guidelines as to what things need to be in place to facilitate a robust and consistent approach to teaching with technology. Once these things are in place it makes it possible to undertake online teaching that does more than just mimic face-to-face practice, but actually provide a the foundation for innovative pedagogies to thrive. One concept associated with this is the notion that students can be productive and typically, this means the TEL has, or can become far more, active, authentic and collaborative.

A keynote presentation to the BU Careers and Teachers conference #BUCATC
This keynote suggests that with the move to models of school based teacher training, that trainee teachers and NQTs find the CPD on offer unsuitable to their needs. Here I suggest that harnessing their desire co-create with their peers and develop solutions to real-time issues can be scaffolded and mediated through simple technology such as augmented reality, and I present a model to take the work forward.
Implementing an Online Learning InitiativeAndy Petroski
This is from a session at the e-Learning Revolution Conference at IU 13 on 6/24/15.
School districts creating their own online learning courses, with existing faculty and resources, often stumble with initial efforts as they try to apply existing models to a new learning environment. Join this session to explore strategies, tools, and processes that can support the transition to online learning and see
demonstrations of working models.

A presentation to the English Australia Ed Tech Symposium - Plenary Address.
Abstract: Those institutions that have pivoted rapidly from teaching face-to face to teaching fully online have learned many lessons over the last 18 months, both good and bad. But for some, this has been nothing new, instead it’s simply been business as usual. We have seen that those who fared better have well established frameworks in place to mediate their technology-enhanced learning offerings. That is, they have recognised processes that define how they translate what they have in policy, procedures and planning into practice. Such a framework can be found within a number of quality tools, that are designed to provide institutions with clear guidelines as to what need to be in place to facilitate a robust and consistent approach to teaching with technology. Once present, it makes it easier to undertake online teaching that does more than just mimic face-to-face practice, providing a robust platform to allow innovative pedagogies to thrive. Typically, this means the online learning has, or can become far more, active, collaborative and authentic. This presentation with share some of the things that have been observed across the higher education sector over the last 18 moths that we can all learn from.

Discover the Simplified Electron and Muon Model: A New Wave-Based Approach to Understanding Particles delves into a groundbreaking theory that presents electrons and muons as rotating soliton waves within oscillating spacetime. Geared towards students, researchers, and science buffs, this book breaks down complex ideas into simple explanations. It covers topics such as electron waves, temporal dynamics, and the implications of this model on particle physics. With clear illustrations and easy-to-follow explanations, readers will gain a new outlook on the universe's fundamental nature.
