The document discusses beliefs about jinn. It provides information on:
- Jinn were created from smokeless fire to worship Allah alone.
- There are different types of jinn, including those that fly, resemble snakes/dogs, or stop and resume journeys.
- Iblis is the greatest of the rebellious jinn and the enemy of mankind.
- Jinn have certain powers like speed and transformation but are limited to this universe.
- Jinn can whisper, enter homes as snakes, and live in impure places, but good jinn exist who have embraced Islam.
2. Belief in the Jinn:
• And I (Allaah) created not the jinns and humans, except they should
worship Me (Alone).” [al-Dhaariyaat 51:56].
• O assembly of jinns and mankind! Did there not come to you
Messengers from amongst you, reciting unto you My Verses…?” [al-
An’aam 6:130]
• The word jinn comes from an Arabic root meaning “hidden from sight”
• “… Verily he [Shaytaan] and his qabeeluhu [his soldiers from the jinn or
his tribe] see you from where you cannot see them…” [al-A’raaf 7:27]
3. Jinn created From?
• And the jinn, We created aforetime from the smokeless
flame o fire.” [al-Hijr 15:27]
• And the jinns did He create from a smokeless flame of fire.”
[al-Rahmaan 55:15].
• Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
“The angels were created from light, the jinn were created
from fire, and Aadam was created from that which has been
described to you.” (Reported by Muslim, 5314).
4. Types of jinn : The jinn and the sons of Aadam
• The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
said: ‘The jinn are of three types: a types that has wings, and they fly
through the air; a type that looks like snakes and dogs; and a type that
stops for a rest then resumes its journey.”
• The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him)
said, ‘There is not one of you who does not have a jinn appointed to be
his constant companion.’ They said, ‘And you too, O Messenger of
Allaah?’ He said, ‘Me too, but Allaah has helped me and he has
submitted, so that he only helps me to do good.’”
5. Ibliss :: Jinn
• He is Iblees, the Great Taaghoot, and the Enemy of Mankind
• He is one of the Jinn
• And (remember) when We said to the angels; "Prostrate to Adam." So
they prostrated except Iblis (Satan). He was one of the jinns; he
disobeyed the Command of his Lord. Will you then take him (Iblis) and
his offspring as protectors and helpers rather than Me while they are
enemies to you? What an evil is the exchange for the Zalimun
(polytheists, and wrong-doers, etc). [Surah al-Kahf 18, Ayat 50]
• And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and
they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was of the jinn and departed from
the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his descendants
as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for
the wrongdoers as an exchange.
6. Ibliss :: Jinn
• Sheikh Ibn Taymiah mentions that Iblees is the father of all jinn.
• He was given the shape of an angel due to his excellent worship to Allah
SWT. When he disbelieved he was changed back to his original or
worsened shape, no more like an angel.
• He has horns, and his face looks like an ugly fruit from the bottom of the
hellfire. Describing the tree in hellfire, Allah SWT says
– Verily, it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hell-fire, The shoots of its fruit-stalks
are like the heads of Shayatin (devils) [ Surah As-Saffat 37, Ayat 64-65 ]
7. Theirpowers
• An ‘ifreet (strong one) from the jinns said: ‘I will bring it [her
throne] to you before you rise from your place (council). And
verily, I am indeed strong, and trustworthy for such work.’
One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: ‘I will
bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!’ – then when
Sulaymaan saw it placed before him, he said, ‘This is by the
Grace of my Lord…’” [al-Naml 27:39-40].
8. The food and drinkof the jinn
The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
‘Someone from among the jinn called me, and I went with him and recited Qur’aan
for them.’ He took us and showed us the traces of where they had been and the
traces of their fires. They asked him for food and he said, ‘You can have every bone
on which the name of Allaah has been mentioned that comes into your possession,
as meat, and all the droppings as food for your animals.’ The Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, ‘So do not use [these things] for cleaning
yourselves [after relieving oneself], for they are the food and provision of your
brothers.’” (Reported by Muslim, 450). According to another report: “A delegation of
jinn from Naseebeen came to me, and what good jinn they are! They asked me for
food and I prayed to Allaah for them, so that they would not pass by bones or
droppings, but they would find food on them.” (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 3571).
Narrated: Abdullah bin Umar :: Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab from
Abu Bakr ibn Ubaydullah ibn Abdullah ibn Umar from Abdullah ibn Umar that the
Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When you eat,
eat with your right hand and drink with your right hand. shaytan eats with his left
hand and drinks with his left hand." [ Imam Malik's Muwatta ]

11. Abilities of Jinn
WhispersWhispers
Bukhari and MuslimreportBukhari and Muslimreport that once when the Prophet was in seclusion (I'tikaf) in the mosque,
his wife Safiyyah went to see him. When she left, the Prophet accompanied her to his house. On
the way he met two Companions from Ansar who were passing by. They sped up their pace when
they saw him. He called them and said, "This is my wife Safiyyah bint Huyai. They said, "Subhan
Allah! O Messenger of Allah, why are you saying this?" The Prophet said, "Satan flows inside man
like blood. I feared, may be he put bad thoughts about me in your minds.“

A powerful one from among the jinn said, “I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and
indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy.” Said one who had knowledge from the
Scripture, “I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you.” And when [Solomon] saw it
placed before him, he said, “This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful
or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful – his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And
whoever is ungrateful – then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous.” [ Surah an-Naml
27, Ayat 39 - 40 ]
And we have sought [to reach] the heaven but found it filled with powerful guards and burning
flames. And we used to sit therein in positions for hearing, but whoever listens now will find a
burning flame lying in wait for him. [ Surah al-Jinn 72, Ayat 8 - 9 ]
12. Abilities of Jinn
TransformationTransformation
They cannot transform in front of us
Jinn can transform into the shape of humans and animals, especially those which are black
o Abu Tha’labah al-Khushani said: “The Messenger of Allaah said: ‘The jinn are of three types: a types that has
wings, and they fly through the air; a type that looks like snakes and dogs; and a type that stops for a rest then
resumes its journey.” [ Shaykh al-Albaani said in al-Mishkaat (2/1206, no. 4148): al-Tahhaawi and Abu’l-Shaykh
reported it with a saheeh isnaad ]
Jinn often enter houses in the shape of snakes.
o Three types of snakes that the jinn won’t take form are rattle snake, cobra, and a bald snake.
Prophet (saw) made an exception regarding the bald snake with two spots above its eyes. This type of
snake should be killed immediately. [ Bukhari ]
o A Muslim should follow the following etiquettes ::
Do not rush to kill a snake that is found in your home
Command the snake to leave the house
After three, it can be killed
Hadith - Sunan of Abu Dawood, Narrated Abu Sa'id al-Khudri :: Muhammad ibn AbuYahya said that
his father told that he and his companion went to AbuSa'id al-Khudri to pay a sick visit to him. He said:
Then we came out from him and met a companion of ours who wanted to go to him. We went ahead
and sat in the mosque. He then came back and told us that he heard AbuSa'id al-Khudri say: The
Apostle of Allah said: Some snakes are jinn; so when anyone sees one of them in his house, he
should give it a warning three times. If it return (after that), he should kill it, for it is a devil.
13. Jinn Appearance
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said: The jinn may
appear in human or animal form; they may appear in the form of snakes, scorpions
and so on; or in the form of camels, cattle, sheep, horses, mules and donkeys; or in
the form of birds. They may also appear in human form, as the Shaytaan came to
Quraysh in the form of Suraaqah ibn Maalik ibn Ja‘sham, when they wanted to go
out to Badr. Allah, may He be exalted, says (interpretation of the meaning):
“And (remember) when Shaitan (Satan) made their (evil) deeds seem fair to them
and said, ‘No one of mankind can overcome you this Day (of the battle of Badr) and
verily, I am your neighbour (for each and every help).’ But when the two forces came
in sight of each other, he ran away and said Verily, I have nothing to do with you.
Verily! I see what you see not. Verily! I fear Allah for Allah is Severe in punishment’”
[al-Anfaal 8:48].
He (may Allah have mercy on him) also said: The black dog is the devil among
dogs, and the jinn often appear in that form, and also in the form of black cats,
because the black colour is more able to concentrate devilish power than other
colours, and it concentrates heat.
14. The dwelling-places of the jinn
• Jinn share the earth with us
• Throne of Iblees is at sea
• They mostly live in impure places
• The Shayateen mostly gather in markets and trail of camels
• They spread at the time of sunset and often sit between shade &
light
• The Shayateen will not enter a house where the name of Allah was
mentioned upon entering.
• They run away from homes where Surah al-Baqarah is recited,
where Allah’s Name is often mentioned
• When they hear the adhan they run away
• In Ramadan, the Shayateen are chained
15. Among the Jinn are the Good and Evil:
• And some of us are Muslims, and of us some are al-qaasitoon (disbelievers – those who have deviated from the
Right Path). And whosoever has embraced Islam, then such have sought the Right Path. And as for the
qaasitoon, they shall be firewood for Hell.’” [al-Jinn 72:14-15]
• The Muslims among the jinn are of different levels as regards righteousness and taqwa. Allaah says :“[Some
jinn said:] ‘There are among us some that are righteous, and some the contrary; we are groups, each having a
different way (religious sects, etc.)’” [al-Jinn 72:11]
• Abd-Allaah ibn Abbaas, who said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) went out with a
group of his Companions heading for the marketplace of ‘Ukaaz. This was when the shayaateen were
prevented from getting any news from heaven, and shooting stars had been sent against them. The shayaateen
went back to their people, who said, ‘What is the matter with you?’ They said, ‘We cannot get news from
heaven, and shooting stars were sent against us.’ Their people said, ‘Nothing is stopping you from hearing news
from heaven except some new event that must have happened. Go and look in the east and the west of the
earth, and see if you can find out what it is that is stopping you from hearing news from heaven.’ Those who
went out in the direction of Tihaamah came upon the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) in
Nakhlah, when he was on his way to ‘Ukaaz, and found him leading his Companions in Fajr prayer. When they
heard the Qur’aan, they listened to it and said, ‘By Allaah, this is what is stopping us from hearing news from
heaven.’ When they went back to their people, they said, ‘O our people, we have heard a wonderful Recital (the
Qur’aan). It guides to the Right Path, and we have believed therein, and we shall never join (in worship)
anything with our Lord (Allaah). [al-Jinn 72:2]. Then Allaah revealed to His Prophet peace and blessings of
Allaah be upon him) the words (interpretation of the meaning): “Say (O Muhammad): ‘It has been revealed to
me that a group of jinns listened (to this Qur’aan)…’ [al-Jinn 72:1], and Allaah revealed to him what the jinn had
said.” (reported by al-Bukhaari, 731).
16. Jinn & Marriage
•
Rahman 55, Ayat 56 ]
• And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees.
He was of the jinn and departed from the command of his Lord. Then will you take him and his
descendants as allies other than Me while they are enemies to you? Wretched it is for the wrongdoers
as an exchange. [ Surah al-Kahf 18, Ayat 50 ]
Can Humans & Jinn Inter-Marry ?
o Contradictory Opinions
Ibn Taymiyyah says that it is well know that men and Jinn can intermarry and have
children. Al-Imam as-Suyootee also mentions many stories.
Al-Imam Malik and other Muslim jurists accepted the possibility of a human make
marrying a female of the Jin, but rejected the opposite. Other jurists rejected the
possibility of either.
o Clear Proof
Sahih International: And Allah has made for you from yourselves mates and has made
for you from your mates sons and grandchildren and has provided for you from the
good things. Then in falsehood do they believe and in the favor of Allah they
disbelieve? [ Surah an-Nahl 16, Ayat 72 ]
Sahih International: And of His signs is that He created for you from yourselves mates
that you may find tranquility in them; and He placed between you affection and mercy.
Indeed in that are signs for a people who give thought. [ Surah ar-Rum 30, Ayat 21 ]
17. Qareen :: Jinn
• Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood narrated: The Messenger of Allaah (SAW) said: There
is no one among you but a companion from among the jinn has been assigned
to him.” They said, “Even you, O Messenger of Allaah?’ He said, “Even me, but
Allaah helped me with him and he became Muslim (or: and I am safe from him),
so he only enjoins me to do that which is good.” [ Muslim]
• According to anotherreport, “… There is assigned to him a companion from
among the jinn and a companion from among the angels.” [Saheeh Muslim]
• And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most
Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him
Shaitan (Satan devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. [ Surah Az-
Zukhruf 43, Ayat 36]
• Narrated Abu Huraira: I heard the Prophet saying, "Whoever sees me in a
dream will see me in his wakefulness, and Satan cannot imitate me in shape."
Abu 'Abdullah said, "Ibn Sirin said, 'Only if he sees the Prophet in his (real)
shape.'" [ Saheeh al-Bukhari ]
18. Ash-Shaytan :: The Enemy of Man
Indeed, Satan is an enemy to you; so take him as an enemy. He only invites his
party to be among the companions of the Blaze. [ Surah Fatir 35, Ayat 6 ]
[Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You
delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy his descendants, except
for a few." [Allah] said, "Go, for whoever of them follows you, indeed Hell will be the
recompense of you – an ample recompense. And incite [to senselessness] whoever
you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot
soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them."
But Satan does not promise them except delusion. [ Surah al-Isra 17, Ayat 62 - 64 ]
[Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on
Your straight path. Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them
and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to
You]." [ Surah al-A'raf 7, Ayat 16 - 17 ]
19. Possession of Jinn
Can Jinn possess Humans ?
Ibn Taymiyyah said , “ The entering of Jinn into the body of humans is a well-established fact by the
agreement of the Imams of Ahl As-Sunnah wal- Jama’ah.
Sahih International: Those who consume interest cannot stand [on the Day of Resurrection] except as one
stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity. That is because they say, "Trade is [just] like interest."
But Allah has permitted trade and has forbidden interest. So whoever has received an admonition from his
Lord and desists may have what is past, and his affair rests with Allah. But whoever returns to [dealing in
interest or usury] – those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide eternally therein. [ Surah al-
Baqarah 2, Ayat 275 ]
Bukhari and Muslim report that once when the Prophet was in seclusion (I'tikaf) in the mosque, his wife
Safiyyah went to see him. When she left, the Prophet accompanied her to his house. On the way he met
two Companions from Ansar who were passing by. They sped up their pace when they saw him. He called
them and said, "This is my wife Safiyyah bint Huyai. They said, "Subhan Allah! O Messenger of Allah, why
are you saying this?" The Prophet said, "Satan flows inside man like blood. I feared, may be he put bad
thoughts about me in your minds."
20. Possession of Jinn
How to cure Possession ?
•Read Quran & Dhikr
– With wudu do the following
• Ayatul Qursi, (the most effective).
• Surah FatiHa,
• Surah Ikhlaas
• al-Mi’wadhatayn: Surah al-Falaq, and surah an-Naas
• Verses from surah as-Saffat.
• Surah al-Baqarah, specially the last two verses
– Once above is done, do the following
• Blow on to the water mixed with the following mixture. Before water finishes add some more it as the
barakah will pass on to the new content
• Break and/or grind Lote Tree leaves [Southern Nettle Tree, Lote Tree, Honeyberry, Celtis australis] and mix
them in water. Use it to drink, bath & wudu.
• Eat Ajwa dates. Has Baraka as mentioned by Prophet (saw)
– Narrated Saud: I heard Allah's Apostle saying, "If Somebody takes seven 'Ajwa dates in the morning,
neither magic nor poison will hurt him that day." [ Bukhari ]
• 7 dates and nothing else in each meal and water. Preferably the above mixture water.
• Some scholars mention any dates are fine
•Fasting
•Destroying the magical charm
•It is not permissible to seek help from magicians
21. Protection from Jinn
Seeking refuge with Allah fromthe jinn:
Allah says : “And if an evil whisper from shaytaan tries to turn you away (O Muhammad) (from doing good),
then seek refuge in Allah. Verily, He is the All‑Hearer, the All‑Knower” [41:36]
“And if an evil whisper comes to you from shaytaan, then seek refuge with Allah. Verily, He is All-Hearer,
All-Knower” [7:200]
It was narrated from Sulayman ibn Sard that two men were trading insults in the presence of the Prophet
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon them), until the face of one of them turned red. The Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, “I know a word which, if he were to say it, what he is suffering
from would go away: ‘A’oodhu Billahi min al-Shaytan il-rajeem (I seek refuge with Allah from the accursed
shaytan).’” (al-Bukhaariand Muslim)
2 – Reciting al-Mu’awwidhatayn (the last two chapters of the Quran, al-Falaq and al-Nas):
It was narrated that Abu Sa’id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “The Messenger of Allah
(peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to seek refuge with Allah from the jinn and from the evil
eye until the Mu’awwidhatayn were revealed, and when they were revealed he started to recite them and
not anything else.”(al-Tirmidhi, al-Nasaa’i, Ibn Maajah.)
Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “To put a barrier that will prevent the jinn from
seeing the ‘awrah of the sons of Aadam, let any one of you say ‘Bismillaah’ when entering the toilet.
22. Protection from Jinn
3 – Reciting ayat al-Kursiy :: It was narrated that Abu Hurayrah said: “The Messenger of Allah (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) put me in charge of guarding the zakah (charity) of Ramadan. Someone
came to me and started grabbing handfuls of the food. I took hold of him and said, ‘I will take you to the
Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).’ He said, ‘I will teach you some words by
means of which Allah will benefit you.’ I said, ‘What are they?’ He said, ‘When you go to your bed, recite
this ayah (interpretation of the meaning): “Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but
He), Al-Hayyul-Qayyoom (the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists)…” [2:255] –
until he completed the ayah. Then Allah will appoint a guard for you who will stay with you and no shaytan
(devil) will come near you until morning.’ The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon
him) asked me, ‘What did your prisoner do last night?’ I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, he taught me
something, and claimed that Allah would benefit me by it.’ He said, ‘What was it?’ I said, ‘He taught me to
recite ayat al-Kursiy when I go to bed, and said that no shaytan would come near me until morning, and that
Allah would appoint a guard for me who would stay with me.’ The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be
upon him) said, ‘He told you the truth, although he is an inveterate liar. That was the shaytan.’” (al-
Bukhaari)
4 – Reciting Surat al-Baqarah :: It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allaah (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Do not make your houses like graves, for the shaytan runs away
from a house in which Surat al-Baqarah is recited.” (Muslim)
23. Protection from Jinn
5 – The last verses of Surat al-Baqarah :: It was narrated that Abu Mas’ood al-Ansari said: “The Messenger
of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘Whoever recites the last two verses of Surat al-
Baqarah at night, that will suffice him.’” (al-Bukhaari, Muslim)
It was narrated from al-Nu’man ibn Basheer (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and
blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah inscribed a book two thousand years before He created the
heavens and the earth, from which the last two ayahs of Surat al-Baqarah were revealed. If they are recited
for three nights, no shaytan (devil) will remain in the house”. (al-Tirmidhi).
6 – Reciting “La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala kulli
shayin qadeer (There is no god except Allah Alone with no partner or associate; His is the Sovereignty and
His is the praise, and He is able to do all things)” one hundred times.
It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him)
said: “Whoever says “La ilaha ill-Allah wahdahu la shareeka lah, lahu’l-mulk wa lahu’l-hamd wa huwa ‘ala
kulli shayin qadeer” one hundred times in the day, will have a reward equivalent to that of freeing ten
slaves, one hundred hasanahs (good deeds) will be recorded for him, and one hundred sayiahs (bad
deeds) will be erased from his record, and it will be protection for him from the shaytan for that day, until
evening comes. No one could achieve any better than him except the one who does more than he did.”(al-
Bukhaari, Muslim)
24. Protection from Jinn
7 – Remembering Allah often (dhikr) :: It was narrated from al-Harith al-Ash’ari that the Prophet (peace
and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Allah commanded Yahya ibn Zakariya (peace be upon him) five
things to follow and to enjoin upon the Children of Israel… and he commanded them to remember Allah,
and the likeness of that is a man who was being pursued by the enemy, until he reached a strong fortress
in which he found protection; similarly a man cannot find protection from the shaytan except by
remembering Allah…” (al-Tirmidhi)
8 – The adaan (call to prayer) :: It was narrated that Suhayl ibn Abi Salih said: “My father sent me to Bani
Harithah, and there was with me a slave of ours, or a companion of ours. Someone called out his name
from a garden, and the one who was with me looked into the garden and did not see anything. I mentioned
that to my father, and he said, ‘If I had known that this was going to happen to you, I would not have sent
you. But if you hear a voice then make the call for prayer, for I heard Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased
with him) narrating that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “When the
shaytan hears the call to prayer, he runs away fast.”’” (Muslim).
The word translated here as “runs away fast” may also mean “passes wind.”
9 – Reciting Quran offers protection against the shaytan
Allah says: “And when you (Muhammad) recite the Quran, We put between you and those who believe not
in the Hereafter, an invisible veil (or screen their hearts, so they hear or understand it not) [17:45]
Belief in the Angels is the 2nd pillar of Eeman. A person is NOT a believer without this pillar.
· This pillar of faith comes after the belief in Allah and before believing in the books. The reason is because they are the ones that deliver the message or
brings the books to the messengers..

Sahih International: So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny ? We will attend to you, O prominent beings. So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny ? O company of jinn and mankind, if you are able to pass beyond the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass. You will not pass except by authority [from Allah]. So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny ? There will be sent upon you a flame of fire and smoke, and you will not defend yourselves. [ Surah ar-Rahman 55, Ayat 33 - 35 ]
Narrated Jabir bin ‘Abdullah: The Prophet said, “Cover your utensils and tie your water skins, and close your doors and keep your children close to you at night, as the jinns spread out at such time and snatch things away. When you go to bed, put out your lights, for the mischief-doer (i.e. the rat) may drag away the wick of the candle and burn the dwellers of the house.” Ata said, “The devils.” (instead of the jinns). [ Bukhari ]
Hadith - Muwatta, 49.21 :: ...Shaytan does not open a locked door or untie a tied knot, or uncover a vessel.
The believing jinn may eat any bone on which the name of Allaah has been mentioned, because the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) did not permit them to have anything on which Allaah’s name has not been mentioned – those are for the kuffaar among the jinn.

Abd-Allaah ibn Mas’ood (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “A man from among the Companions of Muhammad met a man from among the jinn. They wrestled, and the human knocked down the jinn. The human said to him, ‘You look small and skinny to me, and your forearms look like the front paws of a dog. Do all the jinn look like this, or only you?’ He said, ‘No, by Allaah, among them I am strong, but let us wrestle again, and if you defeat me I will teach you something that will do you good.’ The human said, ‘Fine.’ He said, ‘Recite, ‘Allaah! None has the right to be worshipped but He, the Ever-living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists…’ [Aayat al-Kursi – al-Baqarah 2:255 – interpretation of the meaning]. The human said, ‘Fine.’ He said, ‘You will never recite this in your house but the Shaytaan will come out of it like a donkey breaking wind, and he will never come back in until the next morning.’
Jinn share the earth with us
Throne of Iblees is at sea
It was narrated that Jaabir (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: “The throne of Iblees is on the sea and he sends out his troops to spread mischief (fitnah) among the people. The greatest of them in his sight is the one who causes the most fitnah.” [ Saheeh Muslim, Ahmad ]
They mostly live in impure places such as :: Dumpsters, Bathrooms, Abandoned places i.e. graveyards
The Shayateen mostly gather in markets and trail of camels
If you can, do not be the first one to enter the marketplace. And do not be the last to leave it. For they are the places of Satan and therein he raises his banner.” [ Sahih Muslim ]
They spread at the time of sunset and often sit between shade & light
Hadith - Sahih Bukhari 4:533, Narrated Jabi bin 'Abdullah :: The Prophet said, "Cover your utensils and tie your water skins, and close your doors and keep your children close to you at night, as the Jinns spread out at such time and snatch things away. When you go to bed, put out your lights, for the mischief-doer (i.e. the rat) may drag away the wick of the candle and burn the dwellers of the house." Ata said, "The devils." (instead of the Jinns).
The Shayateen will not enter a house where the name of Allah was mentioned upon entering.
If the man enters his house and mentions the name of Allah upon entering it and upon eating therein, Satan says, ‘There is no lodging for you here and no meal here.’ But if the man enters his house and neglects to mention the name of Allah upon entering it, Satan says, ‘I have found lodging for you.’ And if he does not mention Allah’s name upon eating his meal, Satan says, ‘I have found lodging and a meal.’ [ Saheeh Muslim, Musnad Imam ahmad ]
They run away from homes where Surah al-Baqarah is recited, where Allah’s Name is often mentioned

When they hear the adhan they run away
Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah’s Apostle said, “When the Adhan is pronounced Satan takes to his heels and passes wind with noise during his flight in order not to hear the Adhan. When the Adhan is completed he comes back and again takes to his heels when the Iqama is pronounced and after its completion he returns again till he whispers into the heart of the person (to divert his attention from his prayer) and makes him remember things which he does not recall to his mind before the prayer and that causes him to forget how much he has prayed.” [ Bukhari ]
In Ramadan, the Shayateen are chained
The Prophet (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said, “When the first night of the month of Ramadan comes, the devils and rebellious jinn are chained up and the gates of Hell are closed, and not one gate of it is opened. The gates of Paradise are opened and not one gate of it is closed. And a caller cries out: ‘O seeker of good, proceed; O seeker of evil, desist. And Allah has those whom He frees from the Fire, and that happens every night.” [ at-Tirmidhi, Ibn Maajah and Ibn Khuzaymah - Classed as Hasan by Sh al-Albaani in Sahih al-Jaami’, 759 ]
