Software vendors got to the point that as-a-service is not just hype but new opportunities for their businesses. That’s why currently we increasingly frequently hear about launching Anything-as-a-Service (XaaS). The transition is in active phase but many ISVs are struggling with technical blockers or lack of expertise on their way to the desired outcome. In this presentation, you'll find out how cloud hosting service providers can ease the transformation for software vendors, thus attracting ISVs as potential clients, building value in own services, and ultimately customer retention.

Ensuring Cloud Native Success: Organization TransformationChloe Jackson
Are you being asked to put more cloud in your strategy? If you’re like most people, the answer is a definite yes. The word “cloud” can mean so many things, however, that making an actionable strategy is impossible. At Pivotal, we divide cloud into two distinct parts: migrating as many legacy applications into SaaS as possible and focusing on perfecting the software you build in-house that runs your business. Gartner is predicting that by 2020, 75% of applications used to support digital businesses will be built in-house. If you’re one of these companies, you’ll need to quickly evaluate how you develop and run your custom written software.
We believe that soon, every company will either be a software company or losing to a competitor who is. It’s time to focus on the craft of managing the software development life-cycle, and this brief, but dense webinar will help launch your efforts to become a software defined business.
Join us in the last installment in our series: Organization Transformation - to get the full benefit of a cloud native approach, you'll likely need to change how your organization functions and behaves: you'll have to change its culture. When software is thought of more as ongoing products instead of discrete projects, the way the IT department is managed and run changes accordingly. This last part covers the motivations for those changes and outlines how to start transforming everyday management, strategy, staffing, and operations to become a cloud native enterprise.

Containers are lightweight, fast, agile, and solve all dependency issues related to the applications. With such benefits, why aren’t we using containers for stateful apps like databases? Unfortunately, most container platforms treat stateful apps just like stateless, often focusing just on initial provisioning, scale, or failover. To use the cattle vs pets analogy, stateful apps like databases are pets and not cattle. This means losing an instance of a database can lead to data loss, scaling them is not simple, and restoring does not imply simply bringing up another instance on a different host.
In this session, we will review the current state of container support for databases and discuss key aspects of database management like consolidation, data management, node failures, scaling out/back and scaling up/down, etc that container platforms need to address.

In this technical session, we will go over use cases for container-based storage, describe how VMware is providing solutions for storage pain points, and showcase a demo so you can see some solutions in action. Come see how VMware provides Containers without Compromise.

Running Projects in Application Containers, System Containers & VMs - Jelasti...Jelastic Multi-Cloud PaaS
The benefits of virtualization and cloud technologies already became clear with all published articles and millions of speeches. However, more available options produce the "problem of choice". There is a question which periodically comes up - what virtualization technology to choose for a specific use case. In this session, we'll analyze the difference of running the projects inside application containers, system containers and VMs. We will cover the peculiarities in deployment, resource usage efficiency, cloud interoperability and security for each type, as well as discuss what options are more appropriate for different cases. In addition, we’ll review the possibilities of running your application inside a Kubernetes cluster, what configurations should be taken into account, and how to overcome the barriers on the way to more efficient Kubernetes hosting.

MariaDB Auto-Clustering, Vertical and Horizontal Scaling within Jelastic PaaSJelastic Multi-Cloud PaaS
Availability and performance have a direct business impact for most of the companies nowadays. No one wants to lose money because of occasional downtime or data loss. Thus, to minimize the risk and ensure an extra level of redundancy, clustering and automatic scaling should be used. In this video Ruslan Synytsky presented how Jelastic PaaS implemented auto-clustering of MariaDB by providing the customers with different replication options out-of-box with no need in manual configurations. It is also detailed how to automate vertical and horizontal scaling of databases running in the cloud.

Currently, most businesses are already using or plan to use different forms of cloud services. This creates a demand in ability to move complex workloads between the clouds with high uptime and zero data loss. One of the ways to gain this and keep the applications running is to use containers live migration between different physical servers or even data centers. Usually you have to repack and rebuild containers with your workloads every time you are moving an application from one cloud or data center to another. The challenge, that needs overcoming here, is to make this migration maximally smooth and highly automated. Find out how some of the main DevOps issues can be solved leveraging the live migration option and what bottlenecks can be faced.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.
2. Agenda
1. Developers’ dream. What problems
developers usually face?
2. Jelastic as the Solution
3. Turnkey PaaS for hosting business
4. Jelastic partners
5. Customers` portrait
3. Developers’ dream
• Write the code
• Deliver to end-users
• Do not think about
management
• Push updates without any
problems
4. Developers’ reality
• Create VPS or VM
• Install and configure App server + DB + ...
• Install and configure additional modules
• Push the code
• Pray the code will run as on Dev machine
• Rebuild application/change code after
update
• Pay fixed price for Cloud usage
6. • DevOps is the solution of each developer’s
problem
• It became a culture of the communication
between developers and administrators
7. But what if...
• You are an independent developer
• You don’t have a DevOps engineer to automate
the process of software delivery
• You want to save money and expand your
project
10. Jelastic PaaS
• Developer only pushes the code - platform takes care of everything rest
• Supports Java, PHP, Ruby, Python, Node.js, .NET and Docker
