Symptoms Of Postoperative Cognitive Decline
The brain is often exposed to various disturbance during the perioperative period in all age groups.
Neurobehavioral disturbances during the perioperative period may manifest as: Emergence
delirium postoperative delirium postoperative cognitive decline.
Delirium is defined as a disturbed state of mind which is accompanied by confusion, restlessness,
illusions, incoherence sometimes hallucinations.
There are many causesof delirium:
a.Due to medical condition
b.Due to Substance abuse
c.Intoxication
d.Delirium due to non specified reasons
Emergence delirium occurs on emergence from anesthesia. There is no lucid interval. Emergence
delirium usually lasts for less than 30 minutes. Emergence agitation or delirium is mostly seen in
the pediatric age group, is mostly associated with the administration of general anesthesia and
usually resolves without any cosequences[1]. Emergence delirium in the pediatric age group is
thought to be in someway associated with separation anxiety therefore premedication to prevent
separation anxiety might help in preventing it.[2]
Postoperative cognitive decline (POCD) refers to a more fine change in cognition noted during
assessment of attention memory on neuropsychological testing. It is temporary impairment in
cognition associated with surgery. The diagnosis is usually made by a preoperative testing of the
cognitive functions (memory, learning, attention, abstract thinking) and then assessing the degree
of impairment in these

Essay about Professionalism
Professionalism
The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary defines professionalism as the conduct, aims, or qualities
that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. Yet the White Paper on Pharmacy
Student Professionalism says it is displaying values, beliefs and attitudes that put the needs of
another about your personal needs. There is still another definition. The Medical Professionalism
Project says professionalism is the basis of medicine s contract with society. It demands placing the
interests of patients above those of the physician, setting and maintaining standards of competence
and integrity, and providing expert advice to society on matters of health. In my opinion, a person s
attitude, values, and behaviors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To help keep prestige in the pharmacy profession, family physicians should no longer prescribe
medications and should only write the ailment on the prescription. This would allow pharmacists,
who are the drug experts, to prescribe the drugs. This only makes sense to let doctors figure out
what is wrong and the pharmacist to make the correct decision on the prescription. Half the time
the pharmacist has to call the doctor anyways because they prescribed the wrong medicine or the
wrong dosage. The other allegation of pharmacists tricking patients into declining their
counseling is hilarious in my opinion. This scenario is like any other prejudice view, a couple
of bad pharmacists make the entire profession look bad. Although I have never worked in a
pharmacy, I would rather believe that a pharmacist would not do that to a patient. I have more
faith in the profession. If, however, this is a common practice, there is not really much anyone
can do about it. The only thing you can do is be the best pharmacist you can be, and if you do the
right thing people will follow you and do the right thing. Being a professional does not
automatically gain a person prestige. Prestige is earned by the amount of time and effort it took
to get to where you are at. The knowledge needed to keep drugs from interacting and making sure
people are safe should be how prestige of pharmacists is scored, not by how

A Man Who Indoctrinated A Fascist Regime
No other figure in history can boast the embodiment of infamy than that of Adolf Hitler. A face that
requires no introduction is either one of two things: a reputable individual, or a formidable one. It
goes without saying that Hitler wasn t anything other than the latter. In this essay, I will be
investigating the odyssey of a man who indoctrinated a fascist regime and assumed the position of a
dictator for all time.
Hitler first entered the political arena in 1933, via exploitation of the legislative system, something
he would later dismantle as leader. His appointment as Chancellor by German President, Paul Von
Hindenburg, came as a surprise, after Hindenburg previously refused Hitler s request for the
position. He assumed the role during the political turmoil the country was facing at the time (as a
consequence of the conditions in the 1920s and early 1930s), this corresponded with the approach
and policies that Hitler advocated as leader of the Nazi party. Following the death of President
Hindenburg in 1934, Hitler assumed the role of leader. During this period of transition, he actioned
the Enabling Act (23rd March), giving himself an array of authority, for example: the governing
body instated Hitler with a consecutive four years in power as autocrat, thereby instating a position
where he could amend the constitution as he wished it to be. Hitler abolished the remaining
political associations, and by doing so, ensured his dictatorship over the new totalitarian

Gender Barriers For Men And Women
Today what a person says is closely looked at, and the way they look at the issues have different
standards for men and woman. Language can be a wide range of things from body language,
tones and word choices. Talking is a necessary part of life, one that no one can get away from it.
Women can never do something as well as a mancan in some peoples mind. They take that thought
of superiority to bring women down. It can have harmful effects on women to where they go to
change what they believe is wrong with them. In Just don t do it the author says that girls have
certain words they constantly use (Cameron). The Times article states that the gendergap really is
lessening with linguistics and certain words are used by both genders. Languageskills are a
fundamental skill that everyone should possess, and when people use those skills there could be a
bias when judging their skills between men and women.
Talking is an essential part of life everywhere in the world no matter where they are. Women they
get judged harshly on the way they talk and are prone to becoming generalized with the way they
talk. Women have been said to over apologize, though there is no evidence for that, some think
that because women supposedly apologize more that they are weaker because of it (Cameron). It
makes some think that certain things do not matter if a girl apologizes for it, because it is almost
natural for them to do so. In Stop Saying I Feel Like article though,

The American Automotive Industry Incurred A Major Crisis
Between 2008 and 2009, the American automotive industry incurred a major crisis, on the heels
of the housing market collapse occurring in 2007 (Klier Ribenstein, 2013). General Motors was
already in a financial vulnerable situation at this time, having already filed a $10.6 billion dollar
loss three years earlier (United States Securities and Exchange Commission, 2005). In 2007,
General Motors losses for the year were $38.7 billion and its sales had dropped a full forty five
percent from the year before (Weardenm, 2009; Usborne, 2008). By the end of 2008, the company
was in such bad shape that analyst predicted that the company would have the liquidate or
discontinue operations without any assistance from the government (Bosco Plante,... Show more

This restricting led to the death of three of its brands, Saturn, Pontiac, and Hummer, and the
selling of another (Sweden s Saab) to Spyker, a Dutch auto group (Krebs, 2009; Ahlander Bailey,
2010). The company was left with five business segments and only four brands (Chevy, Cadillac,
Buick, and GMC) (Senter McManus, 2013; Maynard, 2009b). This decision to file for
bankruptcy and restructure the company was an excellent one because studies have shown that
restructuring of the internal workings of an organization increases both the efficiency of the
company and its value to the stockholders (Brickley Van Drunen, 1990). The positive effects of
this restructuring is evidenced by the ability of the government to successfully sale the entirety
of its GM stock in 2013 for a total price of $39 billion and General Motors realizing a 19%
increase in sales in 2014 (McGrath, 2015; Isidore, 2013). To determine which vehicle models in
the remaining brands of Cadillac, Buick, Chevy, and GMC to continue producing, the new General
Motors would have needed to undergo some research process to determine which brands had the
most growth potential and were the most value maximizing. There are three types of research that I
would propose for General Motors to undergo: a statistical analysis, a consumer survey, and a
dealership survey. The statistical analysis would study the past and

Frederick Douglass Abolitionist Essay
Rough Draft
Who is Frederick Douglass and what is he known for? The Abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass
was born into slavery sometime around 1818 in Talbot country, Maryland. He became one of the
most famous intellectuals of his time, by writing several biographies describing his experience in
slavery. Douglass symbolizes the militant outlook of modern African American leaders. Frederick
Douglass positively influenced the United States by engaging in the abolitionist movement,
inspiring other slaves and slave writers, and social reforms.
There are many reasons of how Frederick Douglass engaged in the abolitionist movement. The
summer of 1841 was a turning point in Douglass career. Frederick Douglass was introduced to the

Douglass and the abolitionists argued that because the aim of the Civil War was to end slavery,
African Americans should be allowed to engage in the fight for their freedom. Douglass met with
President Lincoln to discuss the role of blacks in the Civil War. He felt that military service was
important in order to service the rights of citizenship and suffrage. In an interview with President
Lincoln he advocated for equal treatment, pay and protection of black soldiers as well as rewards
with promotion. Abraham Lincoln referred to him as the most meritorious man of the nineteenth
century (Who was Frederick Douglass?). With the North no longer obliged to return slaves to
their owners in the South, Douglass fought for equality for his people. He made plans with
Lincoln to move liberated slaves out of the South. During the war, Douglass also helped the
Union by serving as a recruiter for the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. As soon as he got
orders to start recruiting for the 54th Massachusetts Regiment his sons, Charles and Lewis, were
one of the first ones to enroll (Douglass Role in the Civil War). His recruitment efforts were
highly successful as regiments quickly filled up. Among the best known articles he wrote in
Douglass Monthly are Another Word to Colored Men , Why should a Black Man enlist? and Men
of Color to Arms (Douglass Role in the Civil War). His employment with the Anti Slavery Society
ended however, Douglass continued to fight for equal rights and full citizenship for African

Final Voting Patterns
The Problem
Merriam Webster online dictionary defines democracy as a form of government in which the
supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by the people (www.merriam webster.com).
But the one big problem is that We the people are not exercising their supreme power to determine
the U.S. government. Less than half of the eligible electorate showed up at the polls for the 1996
U.S. presidential election. While lower turnout has marred previous presidential elections, 1996 s
voter turnout dipped below 50 percent for the first time in more than 30 years. It appears that the
people s increasing cynicism about politicians that they lie to get elected and the perception that
people have no respect or confidence in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research Design
Data used for this term paper was obtained from Houghton Mifflin Company through the 1996
Voter s Data Set found as part of the Crosstabs package. The dependent variable (rows) I chose to
highlight the 1996 U.S. presidential election voting pattern was the Final Voting Choice. The
independent variables (columns) I chose were personal traits such as education, income, age,
religious affiliations, race, and gender. The data made available by the Crosstabs program was
compiled in a statistically scientific way by a national survey of citizens before and after the 1996
election. The objective of this research is to determine which of the personal traits of the electorate
has a positive, negative, or an indifferent impact on voter turnout. Therefore, I have made the
following five assertions in the below listed hypotheses:
Hypothesis 1: Voters with higher education (which generally results in higher household incomes)
are more likely to vote.
Hypothesis 2: Young voters are least likely to vote when compared with their older counterparts.
Hypothesis 3: Voters who have religious affiliations are more likely to vote.
Hypothesis 4: African Americans are less likely to vote than Caucasian Americans.
Hypothesis 5: There is no significant difference in the level of participation in an election by men
and women.

The Marketing And Communications For Plaza Home Health...
The current marketing and communications for Plaza Home Health Services is in desperate need
of upgrades. Fortunately, the owners now have the needed income to make identity improvements.
This is important because (Fortenberry 2010) whenever an infusion of resources occurs such as
more prosperous periods, healthcare marketers must comprehensively review their identity
management efforts to determine the most productive methods for utilizing these funds to affect
the greatest identity gains in the marketplace. (p.60)
The logo for Plaza Home Health Services is of poor quality. Consequently, the poorly designed logo
has caused a domino effect of poorly designed marketing communications such as their business
cards, brochures, and the signage located on the front of the building. To achieve identity, it is
important that their logo is in line with their target audience. According to Fortenberry, (2010)
identity is achieved through branding activities, with such activities generating logos, product
names, slogans, jingles, product packaging, building signage, and related identity vehicles for
conveying desired images to target audiences. (p.56) Mangin (2014) states that successful
healthcare branding requires a solid, organized commitment to delivering unique standards of
consistency through the institution s products and services. In addition, a healthcare organization
(HCO) must differentiate itself from the competition or risk the chance of becoming a commodity,

The Misunderstood Religion of Islam
Islam is perhaps the supreme misunderstood religion today, among non Muslims and among some
of the Muslims themselves. There are both historical and modern influences that might clarify this
misconception of Islam within certain rings in the West. One should start with the fact that Islam,
represented historically as the Ottoman Empireman Empire, occupied parts of Europe, which had
certainly not occurred to European civilization before. Then there were the Crusades, which was
Christendom attempting to, I believe, execute and impose its religion upon the Middle East. I
deliberately use the phrase Middle East, as the Crusades did not just impact the Muslim population;
the Jews were also in a similar position and were victims of this process. Furthermore, according to
specific groups, the Orthodox Christians were victims as well of those circumstances. Therefore, it
was fundamentally Western Christendom that was the driving factor of the Crusades, which
extended throughout centuries and ended in defeat for the powerful Christian leaders. This had an
impact on the psyche of the Western people and influenced their opinion of civilization. Then, of
course, you had colonialism, which affected both sides and created a situation in which the
antagonism became even more serious. After the colonial period, a key factor that arose concerned
the economic benefits represented by oil, which is considered a gold commodity that is most
essential to manufacturing and industrial

this reason the climate of San Diego is generally mild and dry throughout the year. In essence
San Diego is mostly sunny, dry, and warm, most days of the year. High temperature range from
lows of 65 degrees F to highs of 76 degrees F. There are only a few days of precipitation per month

The need for a ceiling fan however is apparent. A ceiling fan could help to cool and soothe the
homeowner by helping to circulate air and provide air current control. Air can become so still
and stagnant when it doesn t move! Two or three ceiling fans in a home could really make a
difference! Almost anyone would desire a cooling fan, which could save on the electric bill in the
summer. An additional benefit is a little known fact: most people don t know that they could
benefit from a ceiling fan in the winter also. By reversing the direction on the ceiling fan, pulling
the warm air down from the ceiling into the room, the fan can help to provide warmth for the room

A Study Of African History
Many people think slavery happened after a group of explores from Portuguese started ring the
coast of West Africa, but little do they know African Americans were trading themselves way before
then. Portuguese explorer Prince Henry, known as the navigator, was the first European to
methodically explore Africaand the oceanic to the Indies.[1] Many Europeans thought that Africa s
history was not important. They argued that Africans were inferior to Europeans and they used this
to help justify slavery. However, the reality was very different. A study of African history shows
that Africa was by no means inferior to Europe. As you can see below, the people who suffered
the most from the transatlantic slave trade were civilized, organised and technologically advanced
peoples, long before the arrival of European slavers, trying to suggest they were backward
peoples.[2]
A major advance was the introduction of the caravel in the mid 15th century, a small ship able to
sail windward more than any other in Europe at the time. Evolved from fishing ships designs, they
were the first that could leave the coastal cabotage navigation and sail safely on the open. For
celestial navigation the Portuguese used the Ephemerides, which experienced a remarkable
diffusion in the 15th century. They were astronomical charts plotting the location of the stars over a
distinct period of time. These charts revolutionized navigation, allowing to calculating latitude.
Using the caravel,

Mustang Experience
What do I mean by the mustang is made up of sensation? A few things. The first is anytime
someone wants to describe something, they usually describe it by their sensations what they
perceive to be true about the object. Very rarely will someone describe an object by what the
object is literally without using sensation. Suppose someone was asked to describe what a table
was like. They would describe it most likely by feeling it, looking at it, and maybe picking it up.
While the object is physical, they would describe it by what their sensations of touch and sight
perceive. Even if there are two identical tables, and one is asked to give a report of what they are
like, he or she will not say that the tables are the same. Yes, they are made of the same material,
look the same, have the same color, and same weight, but the table A is not table B. They are
different physical objects each taking up different places in the space they are in. The second is
someone was asked to describe what a strawberry smoothie tastes like. They would describe it by
what their senseof tastes tells them about this strawberry smoothie. Like the tables, if someone were
to order to identical smoothies, they are not the same thing. They cannot be the same thing because
there again, two objects taking up... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The reason I included the word complete is to ensure even after the last part of our mustang is
removed and replaced by a new one, our mustang remains the original mustang. The reason I
believe this to be true is because of the sensation premise I presented above. Given that the orignal
parts of the mustang are removed and replaced with new ones is not enough to say that the
original is gone. The only way that he original is gone is when the who object composed of
sensation is gone. That is, the first mustang is burned and no longer in

first choice, he would still have his job but in expense of another person s life. However, there is
another choice. The second choice is to talk with the patient and inform them of the risk that they

Rhetorical Analysis Of Anti Smoking
Approximately twenty percent of adults in the United States smoke cigarettes, it is this habit which
is the number one cause of death that is easily preventable. Anti smoking advertisements are seen
throughout our society, usually showing the harmful effects of tobacco through graphic pictures or
other shocking images. The advertisement I chose is a black and white image, showing a young
man smokinga cigarette, with the smoke from it forming a gun pointed at his head. Off to the side
appear the words, Kill a cigarette, save a life. Yours. The advertisement makes use of the three
rhetorical appeals of logos, ethos, and pathos through its image and implied meanings. Through
this, the image is able to convey a strong sense of danger and bring awareness to the deadliness of
smoking.
This advertisement was clearly designed to conjure a response from its audience, which are
both smokers and non smokers alike. In the non smoking audience, the image will either
increase their distaste of smoking and its negative health effects, or they will be unconcerned
because it has little or no effect on them or their lives. The audience it would appeal most to is
the people who vehemently oppose cigarettes and smoking. People like this may believe that
anti smoking ads will reach smokers and somehow convince them to quit, but this is probably
not the case. To smokers, the image will be a reminder of the harm they are doing to their bodies.
But for the most part, they will likely be indifferent to the image because they already know it s
bad for their health, and will continue to smoke because they are either addicted or are just
apathetic to the situation. They may even find ads such as this obnoxious and unoriginal because
they feel as if it s repetitive and a personal attack on them and their views and habits. Because
smoking is seen as such a bad thing in U.S. society, they may detach themselves from
advertisements that contradict what they believe is okay.
The first rhetorical appeal, logos, is used in this image. The primary idea is that smoking is bad for
your health. In most countries today, this is common knowledge. This is especially true in
Northern American culture, as smoking is generally seen as damaging and

Analysis Of Flannery O Connor s Two Story
I am going to mention about Flannery O Connor s two stories in my essay. One of them is The
Life save may be your own and the other is A good Man is Hard to Find . I will talk about
Flannery O Connor s stories summary and my opinions about that. Firstly I am starting with
summary of O Connor s The Life Save may be your own Story starts with an elderly women and
her daughter. After that one of the men come up their road named Mr. Shiftled. He starts smoking
and during the conversations, they decided to make an arrangement. Mr. Shiftled starts to work
around the farm in return of some food and shelter. They continue their talking about marriages.
Mrs. Crater asks him that he are married or not and after that she wants to marry with her daughter
but he refused this. Even though he refused to marry with her at first than he lied for car than he

The life you save may be your own In my opinion in this story our characters are important. Mr.
Shiftled had a big chance to save his life but he didn t do this. He is selfish that he accept the
marriage but not for Lucynell. His life could be better but it couldn t. I think Mrs. Crater is not a
good mother because she wants a sudden marriage with one she never knew. But the important
point of the story is about the boy and Mr. Shiftled. And the story ends with Shiftled prayerfull
shout. So he tries to be clean in the world but he gets into a rut both genuine and metaphorically
meaning. I am continuing with the second story analysis; I think out main character grandmother
is a religious and moral person and she is little bit selfish. She wants everything to be her own
way. She has strong religious believes like our novelist O Connor. O Connor has a strong believer
to Christianity. While grandmother was dying, she seems like closer to God. Also an angel figure.
But we don t find it realistic. Because her touching is just

around you have compromised their own? In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collinsand The Road
by Cormac McCarthythe theme of preserving your humanity amidst an inhumane society is carried
throughout the narration. The argument can be made that when leaders begin crossing the line and
losing the basic humanity of protecting life, society as a whole falls in line.
There are many different literary devices that are used in writing to enhance a theme or to carry
those themes throughout a storyline. In The Hunger Games and The Road, irony is used in
bringing attention to the theme of humanity and carrying it from beginning to the end of the
novels. It is used in writing to contrast between what is expected or understood and what actually
happens or is meant (Puchner i). In The Road, McCarthy uses irony to show the difference between
what we would expect from a humane perspective and how those left have fallen so far from those
expectations. One instance of this irony occurred when the father and son observed two men and a
pregnant woman traveling on the road. Later, when these travelers were

Molillie Goldman Analysis
Mollie Goldman s piece titled NOW THEN: NEVER AGAIN symbolizes the perspective of a
young boy who survived the Holocaust. This piece was made in 2014 in honor of Jacob
Hennenberg, a Holocaust survivor. The artist Mollie Goldman is a young aspiring artist and a 10th
grade student from Fuchs Mizrachi School in Beachwood, Ohio. This aesthetic piece is an acrylic
painting on canvas. Goldman evokes a strong intellectual reaction from her audience through the
details and cues she uses in her painting to channel her message. First and foremost, the Holocaust
began in January 1933 in Germanywhen Hitler came into power. The book Holocaust: The Events
and Their Impact on Real People states that during that time 6 million Jews lost their lives, and
1.1 million of those who died were under the age of 18. The Jews lost their lives in various ways,
such as being forced into gas chambers, being tested in medical experiments and from their
horrendous living conditions. Officially the Holocaust ended on May 8, 1945. This painting by
Mollie Goldman was in dedication of a
15 year old Jewish boy who went by the name of Jacob Hennenburg, who was able to beat the
odds and survive the Holocaust. According to Jacob Hennenberg s biography (cite), Hennenburg
was captured during the 1939 invasion of Poland by the Nazi military along with ... Show more

One cue Goldman uses in this piece is the young boy s striped shirt. The article titled Uniform and
Clothing found on The Holocaust Explained states, On arrival at concentration camps prisoners
had their clothing taken away, often to be replaced by a striped uniform (now known as striped
pajamas) (para. 1). Therefore, because of that article, one would imply the boy s shirt is
symbolizing the Holocaust. Being informed about the striped uniform gives a viewer the moment
in time in which the artist is trying to

The Eternal Question: Public or Private
Consider this, you drive into the parking lot of the public school and see the same five squad cars
as every day, business as usual you think. You and your friends walk up to the door and wait in line
for the metal detectors. You put your keys in the tray and walk through the detector, it goes off. Two
cops walk up to check your backpack. Pager in the pocket got to go back to the car and put it
away. Back through the metal detectors and they do not go off, thank God. You go to first period,

This year at Marian there was a big deal with drugs; the school decided to do an unannounced
drug bust. Through the day there were 150 students held and searched. By the end of the day
there were four seniors and two freshman expelled. A police officer asked our principle if she
would like a sweep of the entire school. Sister Mary Paul declined stating that she knew most of
the students would not be back tomorrow if she did that. This is the most pathetic thing I have
heard from an administrator. If she knows that her school is so bad why would she single out
those six students? The answer is that Marian is getting so bad with drugs that she knew she had
to do something to stop these problems, so she used these students as an example for the rest of
us. Although private schools do have their down points I think they are the best option. My parents
said they would never send their dog to Crete Monee, our public school, let alone their daughter.
My mother went to Marian and my father went to Bloom, the public school example, so they also
know first hand the problems in these schools. Marian has just recently started with the drug
problems though. Rita, my mother, said that there was never any problem at school when she went
there; the gossip was always about what happened at Bloom today. The main factor in this transition
is money. When my mom went there, parents had a lot of money but the children did not see a lot
of it. Now, children flaunt their parents money

Comedy in I Henry IV and II Henry IV
In I Henry IV and II Henry IV, William Shakespeare brings together drama and comedy to create
two of the most compelling history plays ever written. Many of Shakespeare s other works are
nearly absolute in their adherence to either the comic or tragic traditions, but in the two Henry IV
plays Shakespeare combines comedy and drama in ways that seem to bring a certain realism to his
characters, and thus the plays. The present essay is an examination of the various and significant
effects that Shakespeare s comedic scenes have on I Henry IV and II Henry IV. The Diversity of

(II Henry IV, II. iv. 113 122)
The scene is filled with bawdy references and second meanings, meanings which the audience
would undoubtedly find uproarously funny. Hal, too, often speaks this language of the lower
classes, especially when chiding Falstaff: These lies are like the father that begets them gross as a
mountain, open, palpable. Why, thou clay brained guts, thou knotty pated fool, thou whoreson
obscene greasy tallow catch (I Henry IV, II. iv. 224 227). The language Shakespeare uses in the
tavern scenes is certainly different from the more solemn and courtly language found in the plays
more dramatic moments, as in Hal s gallantry towards Hotspur upon the latter s death:
Prince. But let my favors hide thy mangled face;
And, even in thy behalf, I ll thank myself
For doing these fair rites of tenderness
Adieu, and take thy praise with thee to heaven.
Thy ignominy sleep with thee in the grave,
But not remembered in thy epitaph. (I Henry IV, V. iv. 95 100)
The differences in styles of language truly brings alive the plays various characters, from the
lowliest drawer to the noblest knight. The playwright s audience would have been composed of a
similarly diverse spectrum of society, from the groundlings at the foot of the stage, to the members
of the court in attendance, and these disparate members of the audience might very well have come

EVAN 525 B08: Contemporary Evangelism

Abstract
The question may be asked, what is the essence of being a Great Commission Worshipper? David
Wheeler and Vernon Whaley provides subtle element of what the significance is to being a Great
Commission Worshipper a man absolutely and similarly dedicated to evangelism and worship and
an otherworldly procedure that is formational, transformational, social, missional, and reproducible.
The postulation/thesis of the book is outlined in section two when the writers doubtlessly express
A Great Commission worshipper is a person who is so much in love with Jesus, so committed to
worship of Jesus, and so devoted to being obedient to every command of Jesus that he simply
cannot restrain himself from telling others about his incredible relationship with the Son of God.
1 In The Great Commission to Worship: Biblical Principles for Worship Based Evangelism the
writers join evangelism and love as profound orders that the Christian devotee must follow up on
out of acquiescence for God. They state at an early stage that worship is not an event or
something we do for God. Rather it is an act of unbridled obedience even when rational
explanations are hard to find. 2
Wheeler and Whaley give regular confusions of evangelism and worship, giving a brief reaction
for each. They then give a scriptural model of an evangelism venerate

Apollo 13 Analysis
The movie that I have selected is Apollo 13 directed by Ron Howard. The movie was filmed in
1995 and the lead roles were played by Tom Hanks as Jim Lovell, Bill Paxton as Fred Haise, Kevin
Bacon as Jack Swigert, Gary Sinise as Kevin Mattingly, and Ed Harris as Gene Kranz. It was
written by William Broyles, Jr. and Al Reinert. The movie was all in color, it does not have a
sequel to it, and it is 140 minutes. I watched it December 11, 2014 at my house. Jim Lovell, Fred

Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin are household names, but what about the more obscure individuals

what could happen if the fascism in Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia persisted. The dystopian,

the governments of the past that resemble theirs, We are different from all the oligarchies of the
past, in that we know what we are doing. All the others, even those who resembled ourselves,
were cowards and hypocrites. The German Nazis and the Russian Communists came very close
to us in their methods, but they never had the courage to recognize their own motives (Orwell

its intent. Paraphrasing what O Brien tries to convey, it can be stated that even though the Nazis
killed millions of innocent civilians, as did the Russian communists, they were not as horrible
as Big Brother because they did not understand that they were wrong. O Brien states that Big
Brother has cupidity for power and no other motivation to be fascist. To compare, in the book

Western observers minds that Qaddafi is very much his own person, taking orders from no one

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Creative Accounting
Basically, creative accounting does involve some manipulation in financial statements, especially
in the balance sheet. It can be simply means income or earns something. Creative accounting will
always be reflected in financial indicators and fundamentally the factor of company solvency,
doesn t matter what is the reason of it. This is because not everything that looks like profit is
really a profit. The benefits and drawbacks of creative accounting are vary with different scenarios.
Although most of the times creative accounting are tend to bring disadvantages to the organization

That is why creative accountants undertake this phenomenon in good intentions in order to
promote their companies. This is where we call it as money spinning attractions. Companies
also want to show a steady income stream to impress the investors and to keep the shares prices
stable. Creative accounting also may help to maintain or increase the share price by minimizing
debt level to the lower risk and by showing improved profits. This can help the company in
raising new capital and in takeover attempt. On the other hand, the unreasonable and dishonestly
excessive use of creative accounting will led to the downfall of numerous high profile
companies. This gave rise to the need for developing the GAAP. As for instance, recently the

False Denominations
The Problem:
Most advertisements present a woman with long luxurious lashes with the promise that the
mascara will make them look just like the models. Well, that s not always just mascara you see on
their lashes. In most advertisements, the mascara on their lashes is accompanied by a strip lash to
get that full, long lash look. Yes, most models are wearing some form of a false eyelash.
The Solution:
There are 3 different types of false lashes on the market to help you achieve the full lash look:
♥ Strip: This type lasts 24 hours and is applied with a lash adhesive that only holds for a
limited amount of time. This is one long strip applied to the lash line. Seen in every magazine ad
and commercial where eyes are the focus.

♥ Semi Permanent: These last 45 90 days depending on your lash cycle. This process involves
taking a single eyelash and attaching it to each individual lash on the eyelid. If you are missing
natural lashes, or do not have a thick enough set of lashes there is not much these can do to give
a fuller look. They are applied with the strongest adhesive out of all three types of lashes, in
which your eyes have to be closed during application and can take up to 2 hours depending on the
professional. This is the most natural looking extension and should only be applied by a trained
professional.
Don t want the maintenance of false lashes? Maybe you have allergies and are constantly rubbing
you eyes, sty prone, or have other eye issues, but still want a great lash look? Try 3D Fiber mascara!
This is a two part system of gel like mascara and fibers that lengthen and thicken the appearance
of the natural lashes. This is worn and applied like traditional waterproof mascara and can be
taken off with eye makeup remover each night. It lasts 3 6 months depending on how often it is

The Crown Heights Riot of 1991
Anti Semitism has been prevalent throughout the world since the establishment of the Jewish
religion and unfortunately, traces of it can still be found to this day in the United States. What
exactly is anti Semitism? It is the intense dislike for and prejudice against the Jews; it can range
anywhere from simple opposition to the Jews to vicious hatred displayed through physical
torment. Some examples of the more publicized cases of violence against the Jews include the
attack of Irish workers and police on the funeral procession of Rabbi Jacob Joseph in New York

Even before the Crown Heights Riot of 1991, there has been a lineage of earlier incidents between
African Americans and Hasidic that foreshadows what was to come. In the summer of 1986,
blacks had allegedly beaten a Hasidic man to death in a subway station; in April 1987, some 400
blacks engaged in a protest march against what they considered to be Hasidic surveillance

African American, Chris Gilyard, who was 16 years old, who they suspected of slashing a
Hadisic man, Shalom Rabkim, and his mother, Shoshana Rabkim, during a robber (1). This goes
to show how a riot occurring was all in the works yet, the severity of it was definitely not
predetermined by these incidents. All in all, the disparity and distrust between African Americans
and Jews in Crown Heights as well as the distrust of police along African Americans definitely
contributed to the increased rate of violence in the Crown Heights area in 1991. The culmination
of the riot originated from a car crash that caused African Americans to start pointing fingers at the
Jews and vice versa. After leaving a cemetery to visit the grave of a leader of the Jewish

Henry David Thoreau was a man who expressed his beliefs of society, government, and mankind
while living under his own self criticism. Thoreau believed he had many weaknesses which made
him a failure. This strong disapproval of himself contrasted with his powerful words and strong
actions. These contradictions led to some of Thoreau s greatest pieces of literature.
Henry David Thoreau was born in Concord, Massachusetts on July 12, 1817, in his grandmother s

very nick of time, too (Harding 4). Though Thoreau was born in

That sweet solitude my spirit seemed so early to require at once gave the preference to this recess
among the pines, where almost sunshine and shadow were the only inhabitants that varied the

apparent that Thoreau associates Walden Pond with his happiest memories.
Thoreau was a deeply religious man, but disliked church. He was very serious as a child and
loved his solitude (Schneider 4). Thoreau says he was truly happiest when he could be by himself
(25). In 1828, Thoreau and his older brother John, to whom he was closest, went to Concord

United States, the Supreme Court did not see that as unreasonable search . In the 1928, case of
Olmstead v. United States the issue of whether of wiretapping constituted a search for purpose of
the Fourth Amendment was interpreted. Olmstead was convicted of conspiring to violate the
National Prohibition Act based on evidence obtained by tapping his telephone line from a junction

nevertheless, rejected Olmstead s claim that his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. A search,
the Court declared, requires a physical intrusion into a constitutionally protected location and a

the interception of his telephone conversations because government agents never set foot on his

area accessible to the public should remain private and the person has a right to expect privacy,
hence the Fourth Amendment right should apply. For instance, Katz usage of telephone booth

History And Evolution Of The Game
Football History and Evolution Aspects of the game can be traced back to the early second and

which players used a leather ball filled with feathers and hair. The aim of the game was to get
the ball into a small net fixed on to bamboo canes while attempting the opposing team from doing
the same to their net. Variations of the game are also documented in Egyptian and Greek society

Language, Physical Appearance And Religion
TITLE Sanjana Satish H2P Paper 1 The word community is usually defined as a group of people
living together in the same area and having some common characteristics, such as language,
physical appearance and religion. In The Songlines by Bruce Chatwin, the common characteristics
that form the Aboriginals tribal communities are familial ties and their culture (similar form of
lifestyle, similar beliefs and similar traditions); while in Gilgamesh it is the city state they belong to
and their settled lifestyle that holds the community together. Another difference in the two works is
that the society in The Songlines does not have a hierarchal monarchy that Gilgamesh has, but
instead has everyone as equals for the most part. However,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

There are Tjakamarras and Jaburullas and Duburungas like me, and so on all over the country,
(Chatwin, 290). This means that they identify as their tribe and not the name that is put on them
by white Australians. However, despite this, all the tribes follow the same religious beliefs. They
all go on Walkabouts, they all sing the songs of the Ancestors, and they all have tjurungas that
they view as sacred. Another aspect of their religion is that they have Kirda and Kutungurlu in
each tribe. Kirda is the owner or boss of the land, while Kutungurlu is the manager or helper of the
boss (Chatwin, 98). The reason this binds the different tribes together is because the Kutungurlu
has to be from a different totemic clan and was a nephew of the Kirda on his mother s side (Ferry,
98). This ensures that the clans communicate and be at peace with each other, as they are
interdependent on the other. Another aspect of their culture that strengthens feelings of community
is the abundance of singing and rituals. The songs of the Aboriginals tell the stories of their
Ancestor walking across Australia, and each Aboriginal owns a certain part of the song, which also
acts as their property deeds. Whenever the elders decided to sing the whole song, they send word
so that all the Aboriginals of that clan gather together and stand

The Relationship Between Opioid And Dopamine System
The opioid and dopamine systems represent the neurochemical connection between pleasure and
pain. Opioids are important for pleasurable experience . If we observe a hedonic spectrum, we
sould see, that opioids shift it in positive direction : while sweat tastes seem sweater , bitter tastes
and pain seem less aversive. Blocking of opioid mediated signalling results in decreased
pleasantness of rewards. Recent studies have shown, that there is a dissotiation between the way
how Вµ opioid and Оє opioid receptor related signalls modulate the perception of pain.( Вµ and Оє
come from the name of the first discoverd ligand that attach to this receptors: Вµ stands for

Costco Is Not A Direct Competitor Essay
Costco is not a direct competitor as it competes in the warehouse club industry. However, Aldi and
Costco are similar in how they sell products off shipping pallets eliminating fancy store designs.
Retail giants Walmart and Target are briskly expanding their grocery options. However, due to
their large size they are not able to benefit from the same efficiencies as Aldi. A pricing survey in
July by Bloomberg Intelligence found Aldi items averaged about 19 percent less than the
comparable Wal Mart items, undermining Walmart s ELP concept. Mass retailers do not offer the
same product selection in the grocery section but they compete on convenience ( one stop
shopping ). Online players Google and Amazon have also added grocery delivery to their offering
and they compete on speed and convenience.
Porter s 5 Forces:
Rivalry amongst competitors: Very high (competing on price, differentiation and/or convenience)
Potential of new entrants: Increasing (high capital investment but no direct licenses required)
Potential of substitutes: High (e.g. online companies offering grocery delivery)
Bargaining power of Suppliers: Low (position of power)
Bargaining power of Customers: Very high (many choices of stores)
Trends in food retailing
Shifting demographics: Millennials have emerged as the most populous generation in the United
States. As this group s disposable income rises, industry operators will increasingly cater their
services to attract these individuals. Millennials are

Antigone, The Tragic Hero
Antigone is the tragic hero because she had goodness in her heart, nobility as a princess, a fatal
flaw in her personality, and a status downfall when she was put inside the cave. All of these
descriptions fit Aristotle s description of what a tragic hero is. Aristotle was a philosopher. He was
passionate about his own definition and characteristics of how a story s tragic heroshould be
portrayed. In the time he was alive, men were shown to be the superior other. Women stayed
inside while they watched the children and cooked a nice meal for their family. Men worked to
earn money for their family. So, it s safe to say that men had more recognition. More fame .
Although most people believed that, in this arbitrary time, there were others who disagreed with
these unfair decisions.
In 367 BC, Aristotle attended Plato s Academy. Plato was his professor in his twenty years of
attending that school. According to Classics Network, Plato was known as one of the many people
who opposed excluding women from society. Because of his strong beliefs, he influenced many of

Antigone was written. During this time, people thought men were superior. They were the stars.
Sophocles could have disagreed just like Plato had, so when he wrote Antigone he chose to add in
both a male and a female tragic hero. Because of the pressure from others, he chose to write the
character of Antigone in a secretive kind of way. While her character does show traits of a tragic
hero, it s not as easy to figure out with only a simple read. Most likely, because of the years
Aristotle and Plato were born, their views on women s role in society were greatly influenced by

Historical Analysis Of Selma
Historical Film Analysis: Selma (2014)
The film called Selma is analyzed, a historical drama film directed by Ava DuVernay and
released on November 11, 2014. The film is based in Selma during the 1950 s to Montgomery in
voting rights. The film actors are David Oyelowo as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Tom
Wilkinson as President Lyndon B. Johnson. It was a history of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. s
campaign to protect equal voting rights through an epic movement from Selma to Montgomery,
Alabama in 1965.
The movie, Selma, was an accurate picture of events that occurred in 1965. It followed Dr. Martin
Luther King Jr. as he fought against the government in their chase to reject the Black Americans of
their American rights. People knew that after blacks were still being denied their right to vote, still
being discriminated from public places, and still being abused by white officers for no reason, and

other local residents to help prepare black Selma residents to overcome the walls that region,
officials had put in place to deny blacks the right to register. One of the most significant features
of the movie as it relates to present day America are the many barriers that were put forth to block
people from exercising their right to vote such as poll taxes, ridiculous qualification tests, literacy

Marine Insurance
INTRODUCTION
Insurance is a form of risk management in which the insured transfers the cost of potential loss to
another entity in exchange for monetary compensation known as the premium.
Insurance allows individuals, businesses and other entities to protect themselves against
significant potential losses and financial hardship at a reasonably affordable rate. We say
significant because if the potential loss is small, then it doesn t make sense to pay a premium to
protect against the loss. After all, you would not pay a monthly premium to protect against a Rs.
1000 loss because this would not be considered a financial hardship for most.
In one form or another, we all own insurance. Whether its auto, medical, liability, disability or ...

Insuring anything other than human life is called general insurance. Examples are insuring
property like house and belongings against fire and theft or vehicles against accidental damage or
theft. Injury due to accident or hospitalization for illness and surgery can also be insured. Your
liabilities to others arising out of the law can also be insured and is compulsory in some cases like
motor third party insurance.
General insurance companies have willingly catered to these increasing demands and have offered
a plethora of insurance covers that almost cover anything under the sun.
Any insurance other than Life Insurance falls under the classification of General Insurance. It
comprises of: * Insurance of property against fire, theft, burglary, terrorism, natural disasters etc
* Personal insurance such as Accident Policy, Health Insurance and liability insurance which
covers legal liabilities. * Errors and Omissions Insurance for professionals, credit insurance etc. *
Policy covers such as coverage of machinery against breakdown or loss or damage during the
transit. * Policies that provide marine insurance covering goods in transit by sea, air, railways,
waterways and road and cover the hull of ships. * Insurance of motor vehicles against damages or

Why The Varsity Team Lose For The Junior Varsity Teams
1. Why does the Varsity team lose to the Junior Varsity team? The Varsity team lost to the Junior
Varsity team because of their individualistic mindset. The coach of the Army Crew team admits
to putting together the best crew athletes together on the Varsity team. As Making Star Teams
Out of Star Players discusses, putting the best individuals together seems appropriate on paper,
but often ignores the soft skills necessary to work together as a team. Because the coach focuses
on the individual talents of the Varsity Crew team he creates an air of competitiveness within
each member, instead of how they can work together. The goal of the team is not greater than
that of the individual and no one wants to be the weakest link so they overcompensate their own
skills. Every member of the Varsity crew team believes he is compensating for the other members
and blames other members for the failure of the team, which shows a lack of team mentality and
strong leadership. Through overcompensating, as stated in the case study, that throws off the
balance of the boat because one member being off pace causes slower speeds. Also, through
pitting the Varsity team against the Junior Varsity team it adds to the divisive culture within the
whole Army Crew team. The coach also does not create any positive feedback for the weaker links
on the team to work with. Instead of telling the team they ALL did well, the coach focuses on who
are the better athletes. As a result, the members feel

The significance of the Common Man in A Man For All Seasons.
==============================================================
I have decided to explore how Bolt uses the Common Man to emphasise the features of the major
characters and to illustrate the main themes of the play. I will also explore the role the common man
plays in the structure of the play and his effect on the audience.
The Common Man is the only character who speaks directly to the audience, which I think is
important as it means they can feel part of the play: there is interaction between the audience and
actors. This communication may increase the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Common Man s comments on the characters may also raise moral issues amongst the
audience. For example, the Common Man remarks on More s wilful indifference to realities. In
one sense the audience may agree with this as they may feel More does not take a very realistic
approach to government. This is illustrated in scene two, when More and Wosley are discussing
the divorce, they may feel that Thomas s ideal to govern the country by prayer is not very
practical. Wosley: you d like that wouldn t you? To govern the country by prayer? More: Yes I
should
However, others may disagree with the Common Man and think that More is realistic in judgement.
For example, he ensures his family does not know any information they could be asked about in
court, to make sure they stay out of danger. Therefore the common man is significant in the sense
that his commentary has an effect on the audience: his judgements may cause the audience to ask
themselves if Thomas More deserves the title A Man For All Seasons?
Because this play deals with events that actually occurred (eg: the reformation of the church) and
people who actually lived, the common man plays a significant role in telling us the real events of
the time, which relate to the plot. For example, in Act

Development Of The Human Brain
Development of the brain The human brain is the most complex structure in the universe. We are
still unsure of its complexity today. The human brain begins forming very early in prenatal life (
just three weeks after conception), but in many ways, brain development is a lifelong project. That
is because the same events that shape the brainduring development are also responsible for storing
information, new skills and memories throughout life. (Zerotothree.org). Thesis statement (what is
your paper going to discuss)
Development all starts the moment of conception. According to the information provided by
Modern mom, By the time you are three weeks pregnant, the developing embryo has formed a
neural groove, which is the foundation for the brain structure. By the time your baby is born, their
brain will have over 100 billion neurons. By birth, only the lower portions of the nervous system
(the spinal cord and brain stem) are well developed, whereas the higher regions (the limbic system
and cerebral cortex) are still rather primeval. The lower brain is in control of the newborn s
behavior, such as the kicking, crying, and grasping. These behaviors are the functions of the
brainstem and spinal cord. This includes the visual behavior their ability to track a moving object.

The Legitimacy And Global Governance

These are important because in the international realm, there is always insecurity and a lack of
trust between states; they can never be certain that there are no threats from other states and
therefore there is always the risk that a war may commence. This is particularly a problem as
pluralism exists among states, therefore there are different views and aims, which inevitably cause
disagreements. There is essentially an anarchic condition, where there is no global government to
enforce punishment or control disputes and in turn there is a constant security dilemma .
Institutions, such as the UN, create a forum where different states issues can be discussed and the
institution can act as a mediator to create an appropriate response and plan, in order to deal with
the issues. A prime example of how where institutions this and may have been beneficial is World
War One and World War Two, of which the United Nationsarose. This shows that states were aware
of the dangers and risks of war that an anarchic system had, and wanted an international institution
to help prevent problems such as these occurring again . Not to suggest that global institutions
create world peace, but they can put pressure on certain states, help solve arguments and controls
disputes, to decrease the chances of escalation of war. Had

Argumentative Essay On Universalism
Universalism
Universalism is the belief that all are born of God, there is no eternal punishment for sin, and
there is no need of Christ s sacrifice. It is the teaching that no one will be ultimately lost since
God will eventually save everyone. Using verses such as those in Galatians 3 where it explains that
all are God s people, they ascribe to a belief that all are include in an enteral heaven (Gal. 3:26).
Universalism often accuses others as being intolerant and arrogant and are presenting a subjective
viewpoint that makes them incapable of producing a valid judgment.
Opposition to Universalism tends to come from those who are more involved in the study of
scripture. Supporting views contend that there are positive features of certain religions or belief
systems. However, being included as created by God does not imply that all will live an eternity
with God. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul compliments those who became examples of those who
turned from idols, serving God and waiting on His Son (1 Thess. 1:4 10). Verses such as these are
difficult to understand if all would be accepted into heaven. Much of Paul s ministry would have
been unnecessary since all would eventually have a place in heaven.
In order to justify an all inclusive salvation, Universalist use the first chapter of Colossians to argue
that God s intention is to reconcile all things, in heaven and earth, to Him (Col. 1:20). Erwin Lutzer
warns that Universalists interpretations are seriously lacking and

Neurobehavioral disturbances during the perioperative period may manifest as: Emergence delirium postoperative delirium postoperative cognitive decline. Delirium is defined as a disturbed state of mind which is accompanied by confusion, restlessness, illusions, incoherence sometimes hallucinations. There are many causesof delirium: a.Due to medical condition b.Due to Substance abuse c.Intoxication d.Delirium due to non specified reasons Emergence delirium occurs on emergence from anesthesia. There is no lucid interval. Emergence delirium usually lasts for less than 30 minutes. Emergence agitation or delirium is mostly seen in the pediatric age group, is mostly associated with the administration of general anesthesia and usually resolves without any cosequences[1]. Emergence delirium in the pediatric age group is thought to be in someway associated with separation anxiety therefore premedication to prevent separation anxiety might help in preventing it.[2] Postoperative cognitive decline (POCD) refers to a more fine change in cognition noted during assessment of attention memory on neuropsychological testing. It is temporary impairment in cognition associated with surgery. The diagnosis is usually made by a preoperative testing of the cognitive functions (memory, learning, attention, abstract thinking) and then assessing the degree of impairment in these ... • 5. Essay about Professionalism Professionalism The Merriam Webster Online Dictionary defines professionalism as the conduct, aims, or qualities that characterize or mark a profession or a professional person. Yet the White Paper on Pharmacy Student Professionalism says it is displaying values, beliefs and attitudes that put the needs of another about your personal needs. There is still another definition. The Medical Professionalism Project says professionalism is the basis of medicine s contract with society. It demands placing the interests of patients above those of the physician, setting and maintaining standards of competence and integrity, and providing expert advice to society on matters of health. In my opinion, a person s attitude, values, and behaviors ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To help keep prestige in the pharmacy profession, family physicians should no longer prescribe medications and should only write the ailment on the prescription. This would allow pharmacists, who are the drug experts, to prescribe the drugs. This only makes sense to let doctors figure out what is wrong and the pharmacist to make the correct decision on the prescription. Half the time the pharmacist has to call the doctor anyways because they prescribed the wrong medicine or the wrong dosage. The other allegation of pharmacists tricking patients into declining their counseling is hilarious in my opinion. This scenario is like any other prejudice view, a couple of bad pharmacists make the entire profession look bad. Although I have never worked in a pharmacy, I would rather believe that a pharmacist would not do that to a patient. I have more faith in the profession. If, however, this is a common practice, there is not really much anyone can do about it. The only thing you can do is be the best pharmacist you can be, and if you do the right thing people will follow you and do the right thing. Being a professional does not automatically gain a person prestige. Prestige is earned by the amount of time and effort it took to get to where you are at. The knowledge needed to keep drugs from interacting and making sure people are safe should be how prestige of pharmacists is scored, not by how ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. A Man Who Indoctrinated A Fascist Regime No other figure in history can boast the embodiment of infamy than that of Adolf Hitler. A face that requires no introduction is either one of two things: a reputable individual, or a formidable one. It goes without saying that Hitler wasn t anything other than the latter. In this essay, I will be investigating the odyssey of a man who indoctrinated a fascist regime and assumed the position of a dictator for all time. Hitler first entered the political arena in 1933, via exploitation of the legislative system, something he would later dismantle as leader. His appointment as Chancellor by German President, Paul Von Hindenburg, came as a surprise, after Hindenburg previously refused Hitler s request for the position. He assumed the role during the political turmoil the country was facing at the time (as a consequence of the conditions in the 1920s and early 1930s), this corresponded with the approach and policies that Hitler advocated as leader of the Nazi party. Following the death of President Hindenburg in 1934, Hitler assumed the role of leader. During this period of transition, he actioned the Enabling Act (23rd March), giving himself an array of authority, for example: the governing body instated Hitler with a consecutive four years in power as autocrat, thereby instating a position where he could amend the constitution as he wished it to be. Hitler abolished the remaining political associations, and by doing so, ensured his dictatorship over the new totalitarian ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Gender Barriers For Men And Women Today what a person says is closely looked at, and the way they look at the issues have different standards for men and woman. Language can be a wide range of things from body language, tones and word choices. Talking is a necessary part of life, one that no one can get away from it. Women can never do something as well as a mancan in some peoples mind. They take that thought of superiority to bring women down. It can have harmful effects on women to where they go to change what they believe is wrong with them. In Just don t do it the author says that girls have certain words they constantly use (Cameron). The Times article states that the gendergap really is lessening with linguistics and certain words are used by both genders. Languageskills are a fundamental skill that everyone should possess, and when people use those skills there could be a bias when judging their skills between men and women. Talking is an essential part of life everywhere in the world no matter where they are. Women they get judged harshly on the way they talk and are prone to becoming generalized with the way they talk. Women have been said to over apologize, though there is no evidence for that, some think that because women supposedly apologize more that they are weaker because of it (Cameron). It makes some think that certain things do not matter if a girl apologizes for it, because it is almost natural for them to do so. In Stop Saying I Feel Like article though, ... • 8. The American Automotive Industry Incurred A Major Crisis Between 2008 and 2009, the American automotive industry incurred a major crisis, on the heels of the housing market collapse occurring in 2007 (Klier Ribenstein, 2013). General Motors was already in a financial vulnerable situation at this time, having already filed a $10.6 billion dollar loss three years earlier (United States Securities and Exchange Commission, 2005). In 2007, General Motors losses for the year were $38.7 billion and its sales had dropped a full forty five percent from the year before (Weardenm, 2009; Usborne, 2008). By the end of 2008, the company was in such bad shape that analyst predicted that the company would have the liquidate or discontinue operations without any assistance from the government (Bosco Plante,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This restricting led to the death of three of its brands, Saturn, Pontiac, and Hummer, and the selling of another (Sweden s Saab) to Spyker, a Dutch auto group (Krebs, 2009; Ahlander Bailey, 2010). The company was left with five business segments and only four brands (Chevy, Cadillac, Buick, and GMC) (Senter McManus, 2013; Maynard, 2009b). This decision to file for bankruptcy and restructure the company was an excellent one because studies have shown that restructuring of the internal workings of an organization increases both the efficiency of the company and its value to the stockholders (Brickley Van Drunen, 1990). The positive effects of this restructuring is evidenced by the ability of the government to successfully sale the entirety of its GM stock in 2013 for a total price of $39 billion and General Motors realizing a 19% increase in sales in 2014 (McGrath, 2015; Isidore, 2013). To determine which vehicle models in the remaining brands of Cadillac, Buick, Chevy, and GMC to continue producing, the new General Motors would have needed to undergo some research process to determine which brands had the most growth potential and were the most value maximizing. There are three types of research that I would propose for General Motors to undergo: a statistical analysis, a consumer survey, and a dealership survey. The statistical analysis would study the past and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Frederick Douglass Abolitionist Essay Rough Draft Who is Frederick Douglass and what is he known for? The Abolitionist leader Frederick Douglass was born into slavery sometime around 1818 in Talbot country, Maryland. He became one of the most famous intellectuals of his time, by writing several biographies describing his experience in slavery. Douglass symbolizes the militant outlook of modern African American leaders. Frederick Douglass positively influenced the United States by engaging in the abolitionist movement, inspiring other slaves and slave writers, and social reforms. There are many reasons of how Frederick Douglass engaged in the abolitionist movement. The summer of 1841 was a turning point in Douglass career. Frederick Douglass was introduced to the abolitionist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Douglass and the abolitionists argued that because the aim of the Civil War was to end slavery, African Americans should be allowed to engage in the fight for their freedom. Douglass met with President Lincoln to discuss the role of blacks in the Civil War. He felt that military service was important in order to service the rights of citizenship and suffrage. In an interview with President Lincoln he advocated for equal treatment, pay and protection of black soldiers as well as rewards with promotion. Abraham Lincoln referred to him as the most meritorious man of the nineteenth century (Who was Frederick Douglass?). With the North no longer obliged to return slaves to their owners in the South, Douglass fought for equality for his people. He made plans with Lincoln to move liberated slaves out of the South. During the war, Douglass also helped the Union by serving as a recruiter for the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. As soon as he got orders to start recruiting for the 54th Massachusetts Regiment his sons, Charles and Lewis, were one of the first ones to enroll (Douglass Role in the Civil War). His recruitment efforts were highly successful as regiments quickly filled up. Among the best known articles he wrote in Douglass Monthly are Another Word to Colored Men , Why should a Black Man enlist? and Men of Color to Arms (Douglass Role in the Civil War). His employment with the Anti Slavery Society ended however, Douglass continued to fight for equal rights and full citizenship for African ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Final Voting Patterns The Problem Merriam Webster online dictionary defines democracy as a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by the people (www.merriam webster.com). But the one big problem is that We the people are not exercising their supreme power to determine the U.S. government. Less than half of the eligible electorate showed up at the polls for the 1996 U.S. presidential election. While lower turnout has marred previous presidential elections, 1996 s voter turnout dipped below 50 percent for the first time in more than 30 years. It appears that the people s increasing cynicism about politicians that they lie to get elected and the perception that people have no respect or confidence in the ... Research Design Data used for this term paper was obtained from Houghton Mifflin Company through the 1996 Voter s Data Set found as part of the Crosstabs package. The dependent variable (rows) I chose to highlight the 1996 U.S. presidential election voting pattern was the Final Voting Choice. The independent variables (columns) I chose were personal traits such as education, income, age, religious affiliations, race, and gender. The data made available by the Crosstabs program was compiled in a statistically scientific way by a national survey of citizens before and after the 1996 election. The objective of this research is to determine which of the personal traits of the electorate has a positive, negative, or an indifferent impact on voter turnout. Therefore, I have made the following five assertions in the below listed hypotheses: Hypothesis 1: Voters with higher education (which generally results in higher household incomes) are more likely to vote. Hypothesis 2: Young voters are least likely to vote when compared with their older counterparts. Hypothesis 3: Voters who have religious affiliations are more likely to vote. Hypothesis 4: African Americans are less likely to vote than Caucasian Americans. Hypothesis 5: There is no significant difference in the level of participation in an election by men and women. • 11. The Marketing And Communications For Plaza Home Health... The current marketing and communications for Plaza Home Health Services is in desperate need of upgrades. Fortunately, the owners now have the needed income to make identity improvements. This is important because (Fortenberry 2010) whenever an infusion of resources occurs such as more prosperous periods, healthcare marketers must comprehensively review their identity management efforts to determine the most productive methods for utilizing these funds to affect the greatest identity gains in the marketplace. (p.60) The logo for Plaza Home Health Services is of poor quality. Consequently, the poorly designed logo has caused a domino effect of poorly designed marketing communications such as their business cards, brochures, and the signage located on the front of the building. To achieve identity, it is important that their logo is in line with their target audience. According to Fortenberry, (2010) identity is achieved through branding activities, with such activities generating logos, product names, slogans, jingles, product packaging, building signage, and related identity vehicles for conveying desired images to target audiences. (p.56) Mangin (2014) states that successful healthcare branding requires a solid, organized commitment to delivering unique standards of consistency through the institution s products and services. In addition, a healthcare organization (HCO) must differentiate itself from the competition or risk the chance of becoming a commodity, where ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Misunderstood Religion of Islam Islam is perhaps the supreme misunderstood religion today, among non Muslims and among some of the Muslims themselves. There are both historical and modern influences that might clarify this misconception of Islam within certain rings in the West. One should start with the fact that Islam, represented historically as the Ottoman Empireman Empire, occupied parts of Europe, which had certainly not occurred to European civilization before. Then there were the Crusades, which was Christendom attempting to, I believe, execute and impose its religion upon the Middle East. I deliberately use the phrase Middle East, as the Crusades did not just impact the Muslim population; the Jews were also in a similar position and were victims of this process. Furthermore, according to specific groups, the Orthodox Christians were victims as well of those circumstances. Therefore, it was fundamentally Western Christendom that was the driving factor of the Crusades, which extended throughout centuries and ended in defeat for the powerful Christian leaders. This had an impact on the psyche of the Western people and influenced their opinion of civilization. Then, of course, you had colonialism, which affected both sides and created a situation in which the antagonism became even more serious. After the colonial period, a key factor that arose concerned the economic benefits represented by oil, which is considered a gold commodity that is most essential to manufacturing and industrial ... A Study Of African History Many people think slavery happened after a group of explores from Portuguese started ring the coast of West Africa, but little do they know African Americans were trading themselves way before then. Portuguese explorer Prince Henry, known as the navigator, was the first European to methodically explore Africaand the oceanic to the Indies.[1] Many Europeans thought that Africa s history was not important. They argued that Africans were inferior to Europeans and they used this to help justify slavery. However, the reality was very different. A study of African history shows that Africa was by no means inferior to Europe. As you can see below, the people who suffered the most from the transatlantic slave trade were civilized, organised and technologically advanced peoples, long before the arrival of European slavers, trying to suggest they were backward peoples.[2] A major advance was the introduction of the caravel in the mid 15th century, a small ship able to sail windward more than any other in Europe at the time. Evolved from fishing ships designs, they were the first that could leave the coastal cabotage navigation and sail safely on the open. For celestial navigation the Portuguese used the Ephemerides, which experienced a remarkable diffusion in the 15th century. They were astronomical charts plotting the location of the stars over a distinct period of time. These charts revolutionized navigation, allowing to calculating latitude. Using the caravel, ... The first is anytime someone wants to describe something, they usually describe it by their sensations what they perceive to be true about the object. Very rarely will someone describe an object by what the object is literally without using sensation. Suppose someone was asked to describe what a table was like. They would describe it most likely by feeling it, looking at it, and maybe picking it up. While the object is physical, they would describe it by what their sensations of touch and sight perceive. Even if there are two identical tables, and one is asked to give a report of what they are like, he or she will not say that the tables are the same. Yes, they are made of the same material, look the same, have the same color, and same weight, but the table A is not table B. They are different physical objects each taking up different places in the space they are in. The second is someone was asked to describe what a strawberry smoothie tastes like. They would describe it by what their senseof tastes tells them about this strawberry smoothie. Like the tables, if someone were to order to identical smoothies, they are not the same thing. Rhetorical Analysis Of Anti Smoking Approximately twenty percent of adults in the United States smoke cigarettes, it is this habit which is the number one cause of death that is easily preventable. Anti smoking advertisements are seen throughout our society, usually showing the harmful effects of tobacco through graphic pictures or other shocking images. The advertisement I chose is a black and white image, showing a young man smokinga cigarette, with the smoke from it forming a gun pointed at his head. Off to the side appear the words, Kill a cigarette, save a life. Yours. The advertisement makes use of the three rhetorical appeals of logos, ethos, and pathos through its image and implied meanings. Through this, the image is able to convey a strong sense of danger and bring awareness to the deadliness of smoking. This advertisement was clearly designed to conjure a response from its audience, which are both smokers and non smokers alike. In the non smoking audience, the image will either increase their distaste of smoking and its negative health effects, or they will be unconcerned because it has little or no effect on them or their lives. The audience it would appeal most to is the people who vehemently oppose cigarettes and smoking. People like this may believe that anti smoking ads will reach smokers and somehow convince them to quit, but this is probably not the case. To smokers, the image will be a reminder of the harm they are doing to their bodies. But for the most part, they will likely be indifferent to the image because they already know it s bad for their health, and will continue to smoke because they are either addicted or are just apathetic to the situation. They may even find ads such as this obnoxious and unoriginal because they feel as if it s repetitive and a personal attack on them and their views and habits. Because smoking is seen as such a bad thing in U.S. society, they may detach themselves from advertisements that contradict what they believe is okay. The first rhetorical appeal, logos, is used in this image. The primary idea is that smoking is bad for your health. In most countries today, this is common knowledge. Firstly I am starting with summary of O Connor s The Life Save may be your own Story starts with an elderly women and her daughter. After that one of the men come up their road named Mr. Shiftled. He starts smoking and during the conversations, they decided to make an arrangement. Mr. Shiftled starts to work around the farm in return of some food and shelter. The life you save may be your own In my opinion in this story our characters are important. Mr. Shiftled had a big chance to save his life but he didn t do this. I think Mrs. Crater is not a good mother because she wants a sudden marriage with one she never knew. But the important point of the story is about the boy and Mr. Shiftled. And the story ends with Shiftled prayerfull shout. So he tries to be clean in the world but he gets into a rut both genuine and metaphorically meaning. I am continuing with the second story analysis; I think out main character grandmother is a religious and moral person and she is little bit selfish. She wants everything to be her own way. She has strong religious believes like our novelist O Connor. O Connor has a strong believer to Christianity. While grandmother was dying, she seems like closer to God. Also an angel figure. Literary Devices In The Hunger Games And The Road Oftentimes when reading books set in the middle of societal unrest or deterioration, we find the characters struggling with difficult, and sometimes impossible, decisions. These types of decisions delve into an individual s sense of humanity. At what point will their actions carry them over the line they thought they would never cross? How do you preserve your humanity when everyone else around you have compromised their own? In The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collinsand The Road by Cormac McCarthythe theme of preserving your humanity amidst an inhumane society is carried throughout the narration. The argument can be made that when leaders begin crossing the line and losing the basic humanity of protecting life, society as a whole falls in line. There are many different literary devices that are used in writing to enhance a theme or to carry those themes throughout a storyline. In The Hunger Games and The Road, irony is used in bringing attention to the theme of humanity and carrying it from beginning to the end of the novels. It is used in writing to contrast between what is expected or understood and what actually happens or is meant (Puchner i). In The Road, McCarthy uses irony to show the difference between what we would expect from a humane perspective and how those left have fallen so far from those expectations. David Wheeler and Vernon Whaley provides subtle element of what the significance is to being a Great Commission Worshipper a man absolutely and similarly dedicated to evangelism and worship and an otherworldly procedure that is formational, transformational, social, missional, and reproducible. The postulation/thesis of the book is outlined in section two when the writers doubtlessly express A Great Commission worshipper is a person who is so much in love with Jesus, so committed to worship of Jesus, and so devoted to being obedient to every command of Jesus that he simply cannot restrain himself from telling others about his incredible relationship with the Son of God. 1 In The Great Commission to Worship: Biblical Principles for Worship Based Evangelism the writers join evangelism and love as profound orders that the Christian devotee must follow up on out of acquiescence for God. They state at an early stage that worship is not an event or something we do for God. Rather it is an act of unbridled obedience even when rational explanations are hard to find. 2 Wheeler and Whaley give regular confusions of evangelism and worship, giving a brief reaction for each. • 32. The Crown Heights Riot Of 1991 Essay The Crown Heights Riot of 1991 Anti Semitism has been prevalent throughout the world since the establishment of the Jewish religion and unfortunately, traces of it can still be found to this day in the United States. What exactly is anti Semitism? It is the intense dislike for and prejudice against the Jews; it can range anywhere from simple opposition to the Jews to vicious hatred displayed through physical torment. Some examples of the more publicized cases of violence against the Jews include the attack of Irish workers and police on the funeral procession of Rabbi Jacob Joseph in New York City in 1902, the lynching of Leo Frank in 1915, the assassination of Alan Berg in 1984, as well as the Crown Heights riots of 1991. Even before the Crown Heights Riot of 1991, there has been a lineage of earlier incidents between African Americans and Hasidic that foreshadows what was to come. In the summer of 1986, blacks had allegedly beaten a Hasidic man to death in a subway station; in April 1987, some 400 blacks engaged in a protest march against what they considered to be Hasidic surveillance harassment; in March 1989, several Hasidic Jews reportedly crowded around and beat a young African American, Chris Gilyard, who was 16 years old, who they suspected of slashing a Hadisic man, Shalom Rabkim, and his mother, Shoshana Rabkim, during a robber (1). This goes to show how a riot occurring was all in the works yet, the severity of it was definitely not predetermined by these incidents. All in all, the disparity and distrust between African Americans and Jews in Crown Heights as well as the distrust of police along African Americans definitely contributed to the increased rate of violence in the Crown Heights area in 1991. The culmination of the riot originated from a car crash that caused African Americans to start pointing fingers at the Jews and vice versa. Olmstead was convicted of conspiring to violate the National Prohibition Act based on evidence obtained by tapping his telephone line from a junction box located on the public street (Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). According to the text, The Court, nevertheless, rejected Olmstead s claim that his Fourth Amendment rights were violated. A search, the Court declared, requires a physical intrusion into a constitutionally protected location and a seizure, the taking of tangible things. Olmstead s Fourth Amendment rights were not violated by the interception of his telephone conversations because government agents never set foot on his property or took anything tangible; his telephone conversations were acquired through their sense of hearing only ( Kanovitz, 2010, p.267). They all go on Walkabouts, they all sing the songs of the Ancestors, and they all have tjurungas that they view as sacred. Another aspect of their religion is that they have Kirda and Kutungurlu in each tribe. Kirda is the owner or boss of the land, while Kutungurlu is the manager or helper of the boss (Chatwin, 98). The reason this binds the different tribes together is because the Kutungurlu has to be from a different totemic clan and was a nephew of the Kirda on his mother s side (Ferry, 98). This ensures that the clans communicate and be at peace with each other, as they are interdependent on the other. Another aspect of their culture that strengthens feelings of community is the abundance of singing and rituals. The songs of the Aboriginals tell the stories of their Ancestor walking across Australia, and each Aboriginal owns a certain part of the song, which also acts as their property deeds. The Varsity team lost to the Junior Varsity team because of their individualistic mindset. The coach of the Army Crew team admits to putting together the best crew athletes together on the Varsity team. As Making Star Teams Out of Star Players discusses, putting the best individuals together seems appropriate on paper, but often ignores the soft skills necessary to work together as a team. Because the coach focuses on the individual talents of the Varsity Crew team he creates an air of competitiveness within each member, instead of how they can work together. The goal of the team is not greater than that of the individual and no one wants to be the weakest link so they overcompensate their own skills. Every member of the Varsity crew team believes he is compensating for the other members and blames other members for the failure of the team, which shows a lack of team mentality and strong leadership. Through overcompensating, as stated in the case study, that throws off the balance of the boat because one member being off pace causes slower speeds. Also, through pitting the Varsity team against the Junior Varsity team it adds to the divisive culture within the whole Army Crew team. For example, the Common Man remarks on More s wilful indifference to realities. In one sense the audience may agree with this as they may feel More does not take a very realistic approach to government. This is illustrated in scene two, when More and Wosley are discussing the divorce, they may feel that Thomas s ideal to govern the country by prayer is not very practical. Wosley: you d like that wouldn t you? To govern the country by prayer? More: Yes I should However, others may disagree with the Common Man and think that More is realistic in judgement. For example, he ensures his family does not know any information they could be asked about in court, to make sure they stay out of danger. Therefore the common man is significant in the sense that his commentary has an effect on the audience: his judgements may cause the audience to ask themselves if Thomas More deserves the title A Man For All Seasons? These are important because in the international realm, there is always insecurity and a lack of trust between states; they can never be certain that there are no threats from other states and therefore there is always the risk that a war may commence. This is particularly a problem as pluralism exists among states, therefore there are different views and aims, which inevitably cause disagreements. There is essentially an anarchic condition, where there is no global government to enforce punishment or control disputes and in turn there is a constant security dilemma . Institutions, such as the UN, create a forum where different states issues can be discussed and the institution can act as a mediator to create an appropriate response and plan, in order to deal with the issues. It is the teaching that no one will be ultimately lost since God will eventually save everyone. Using verses such as those in Galatians 3 where it explains that all are God s people, they ascribe to a belief that all are include in an enteral heaven (Gal. 3:26). Universalism often accuses others as being intolerant and arrogant and are presenting a subjective viewpoint that makes them incapable of producing a valid judgment. Opposition to Universalism tends to come from those who are more involved in the study of scripture. Supporting views contend that there are positive features of certain religions or belief systems. However, being included as created by God does not imply that all will live an eternity with God. In 1 Thessalonians, Paul compliments those who became examples of those who turned from idols, serving God and waiting on His Son (1 Thess. 1:4 10). Verses such as these are difficult to understand if all would be accepted into heaven. Much of Paul s ministry would have been unnecessary since all would eventually have a place in heaven. In order to justify an all inclusive salvation, Universalist use the first chapter of Colossians to argue that God s intention is to reconcile all things, in heaven and earth, to Him (Col. 1:20). Erwin Lutzer warns that Universalists interpretations are seriously lacking and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
