Summary: Age of Tudors

The Wars of the Roses were a series of civil
wars between two branches on the same family,
the House of York and the House of Lancaster,
both descended from Edward III. The war fought
for 35 years (1455-1485).
The wars ended in 1485 when Henry VII
(Henry Tudor) won the battle of Bosworth and
gained the throne of England.

• Anyone who disobeyed the commands of Henry VIII
was arrested for treason and executed…supposedly
he executed 72,000 people during his reign. Yikes!
• Despite the fact that Henry VIII was having Anne
Boleyn executed, he decided not to have her burnt at
the stake, and instead of an axe allowed her to die by
a sword, which she was also allowed to choose her
own executioner.
• Even though she never got married, Elizabeth I did
have 26 different marriage proposals to consider.
