Life in Early Modern Europe Most of the history through this period was surviving through a constant battle of religion. Deciding your side, either catholic or protestant, was the topic of the era. This difference of belief created majority of the conflict and left thousands dead.  Protestants believe they can talk to god Catholic believe only pope can talk to god
