Editor's Notes
Cirque Du Soleil’s touring life cycle is supported by IT in almost every aspect. In the Creation phase, Cirque Memory stores and organizes all the crucial information needed to operate the show fluently. The design phase focuses on the various costumes, makeup, and wigs of the performers. The implementation of costume and makeup applications increases the efficiency of the artists and even allows the performers to style their own makeup. The Kin-Cirque application allows the close monitoring of each artists physical measurements and muscle development, which before implementation of this application, was unachievable. Cirque Du Soliel has developed a website that allows the world to learn, join, and attend Cirque Du Soliel’s shows, while allowing for easier ticket purchasing. Innovations in logistics allow constructing the circus site to become simple as possible. Virtual scouting applications increase the number of potential performers, while allowing the recruiters to view many more potential candidates than before.
The use of IT at Cirque Du Soliel has created an abundant source of data and applications that fuel each system the company utilizes.

Design – The makeup and costume applications tremendously increase efficiency by allowing for the quick reproduction of makeup and costume for every performer. The stored information in these applications allow the artists to record and access every detail of work on the performers, down to the shade and type of makeup used on every individual performer, cutting the amount of work into fractions.
Preparation – Kin Cirque provides the performers with a system that allows physical specialists to closely monitor every performers optimal muscular development. Intertwining with other application, such as the costumer application, ensures that the show equipment is tailored precisely to the physical measurements of every performer.
Diffusion – The website allows for the sales system more efficiently and almost independently, with almost all of ticket sales through the website after implementation.
Logistics – Probably the most important system, logistics allows the recording of crucial information. This information is used daily to easily construct mobile villages that function independently from the rest of society.
Performance Resource Management – This system acts as CdS’s human resources. It allows employees to check their pay, receive the appropriate work injury attention, while also providing an easy to use virtual recruiting system.
Creation – Cirque Due Soliel focuses primarily on creativity. Implementing IT in the creation stage allows employees to easily manage all of the necessary data and create more time for creativity
Design - The costume and makeup applications intertwine flawlessly with the rest of the system, allowing for accurate and easily accessible data to be called upon when necessary
Preparation – The Kin-Cirque application allows employees to monitor and maintain the processes the performers go through in a intricate, but simple to use system.
Diffusion – Cirque Du Soliel’s public website draws customers in through videos of the show and easily purchase tickets with a 3D seating chart, for the perfect seat slection.
Logistics – Knowledge attained through previous shows, which is recorded and analyzed, allows for improvements in the construction and performance of each and every new show.
