ISO 9001 provides a framework for quality management systems certification. Certification can increase customer satisfaction, productivity and profitability. Other standards like ISO 14001 address environmental management systems and ISO 26001 provides guidance on social responsibility.

4. ISO 9000 – Quality Management

5. ISO 9001
ISO 9001 is a standard that focuses on a few basic principles within quality
management and is a standard that firm’s have the possibililty to be
certified against.

9. Other ISO Certifications
• ISO 14001:2004
• ISO 14001:2004 sets out the criteria for an environmental management system
and can be certified to. It does not state requirements for environmental
performance, but maps out a framework that a company or organization can
follow to set up an effective environmental management system. It can be used by
any organization regardless of its activity or sector. Using ISO 14001:2004 can

provide assurance to company management and employees as well as external
stakeholders that environmental impact is being measured and improved.
• ISO 26001
• ISO 26001:2010 Guidance on Social Responsibility is an ISO International Standard
giving guidance on SR. It is intended for use by organizations of all types, in both
public and private sectors, in developed and developing countries, as well as in
economies in transition. It will assist them in their efforts to operate in the socially
responsible manner that society increasingly demands.
