Real Video
• Structures and techniques of TV advertising
– The real video has linear because the perfect correct order and there are not sequential. The linear are best because that
is very simple to understand what happened through the video. Sequential are difficult to understand because there had
lots of jump different scenes. I can tell the camera are very professional HD and focus. There had lots of shots because
the shots on each characters, one shot on the group and other shot close up with Irn Bru. The shots are important
because the shot point the characters who is talking. The producers had decision to make it because they show to the
audience to realize that Irn Bru can make them feel change mood.
• Factors of Persuasion
– The producers had been use factors of persuasion is expert power because the boyfriend had a idea to persuade his
girlfriend to drink it make her avoid her parents and got to party. That is how clever he is and the producers want to
persuade the audience can be avoid to meet their relationship’s parents and have good life with relationship. They want
to be more popular of Irn Bru than Coca Cola. The video is successful romance and love because they want to give the
audience who have partner/relationship/marriage will be more interesting ad they will want to problem solve with their
families. The producers' idea to describe to the audience about the Irn Bru can make the audience feel thirsty and want
to drink it.
• Styles of advertising
– The styles of advertising is successful romance and love because the real advert had talking about relationship and meet
their parents. They are awkwardly because her father to asked him to marry her. Then he brought can of Irn Bru to
persuade his girlfriend to drink it and decide to hang out the party. That is how successful romance and love. That is
definitely persuade to me because I want to drink it. Also, I want to be ice-breaking because I hate be awkwardly with
family or friends or lesson. The video had good impressive to the audience because there had part comedy and relief
because their parents are strict, her boyfriend’s idea of party and her mother was join with her! That is definitely comedy
romance.
My Video
• Structures and techniques of TV advertising
– I decided to choose linear because I would like my video is simple story and give my audience will understand
clarify. I had lots of shots because I want my video look amazing and excited. If I got one or two will be
absolutely boring. I had edited to add a smoke when the boy drink Irn Bru turns to superman and I am sure that
will make the audience feel shocking and impact like “Wow!”. My camera had sometimes HD because some
focus are not good enough which means not professional enough. I had to decision to made that video advert
because that video are very important to the audience who are LGBT and victims. So, that’s why I decide to
create LGBT advert video.
• Factors of Persuasion
– My factors of persuasion is expert power and reward power. First, expert power because the boy before was
depressed, scared and nervous. So, after drink Irn Bru then turns to more confident and strong with lovely
handsome and abs. That is how make the male audience want to drink it to be like him. Secondly, reward
power because my video are important to link the audience’s emotions because my video is talk about LGBT
romance. That is important because I want to show good positive for the LGBT and other advert videos doesn’t
have LGBT yet.
• Styles of advertising
– The style of advertising is successful romance/love and self-important/pride. My video talking about the boy
rescue the victim from the bullies and they are fall in love. Self-important/pride are important because I want
to tell the audience need be confident and brave to stand to the bullies and don’t let them beat you. Also my
video had LGBT because I want to show the LGBTs can confident and brave to stop the homophobias. I want to
all the audience need to save from the homophobias/bullies and become more accept equality.
Real Advergame
• Structures and techniques of advergames
– The game called “New Super Mario Bro” and that is similar my video game. The video game are made from
professional Photoshop because that was very clear and smooth jumping/throwing/running. They are use lots
of jumps because there had brick boxes, pipes, money and stars on the air. There are also throwing because
some had attacks like mushrooms and turtles. The video had 8 levels from easy to hard. From the first image of
level 1 look nice bright and calm. The second image of level 5 look cold, nervous and careful. The third image of
level 8 look dark, terrify and worry. They had decision to made it because the video game are too attractive
game.
• Factors of Persuasion
– The video has factors of persuasion is reward game because that is over attractive game. That is fact because I
was play it before and I was become to attracted it. I am believe all the children audience will be attracting too.
The producers had lots of selling of the popular game because most of children are love it. Also, referent power
because the family are trust the game. They brought it and give their children to play it because the game had
some skills to learn how to start first experience game.
• Styles of advertising
– The style of advertising is childhood and experts. First, childhood is best because I was kid and I played that
game. That game was best memories ever I had! I am sure all other kids well be same as me. The advergame
suitable the children play it. The video game are popular of childhood. Experts is important because the video
game had teach the kid to learn skill game activities like step up of levels to learn from easy to hard. The video
game are genuis because there had both childhood and experts link to kid’s emotional and skills.
My Advergame
• Structures and techniques of advergames
– I created my video game in Photoshop. I also created my characters superman (player) and the bullies.
I had three levels in my game because I created level one is easy then level two is medium and level 3
is hard. In level three of my game, I decide to created more hard to player must run with jump through
the scenes because I don’t want to be boring same as in level one and two of my game player running
on the ground without any actions.
• Factors of Persuasion
– My advergame have factors of persuasion is coercive power because that was not professional
enough. The background and characters look absolutely blurry. I believe my audience won’t buy my
game because of look not clarify. But I will persuade to my audience to buy my game because I would
like they will playing my first video game and let’s see what are their reactions and opinions.
• Styles of advertising
– The styles of advertising is childhood because my video game suitable for the children to play it. My
game look more enthusiast and energetic because I want to make my audience children become to
attracting my game. I want to my game for kid’s activities and give their first experience to control play
it.

Discuss the similarities and
differences?
• My video is similar to other videos because the both videos are the same as
they are both advertising the drink, Irn Bru.
• In each of the adverts the characters feel unconfident, awkwardly, silent and
uncomfortable then after drinking Irn Bru at the end of the scene they became
confident, happy, smiling and comfortable with each other. Each advert starts
with a negative image. Then as the story develops and results in a positive end
because the characters have drunk Irn Bru.
• My advert is different from the other adverts because my story shows how
drinking Irn Bru can stop the bullies. This is an original idea of mine.
• My advert is different from the other adverts because my main character, a boy,
becomes really powerful in order to rescue the victim from the bullies. Other
adverts focus mostly on the emotional impact of drinking Irn Bru.
• Both adverts use different settings; my advert was filmed outside with the other
one being shot indoors.
• In each of the adverts the characters are rescued by a hero. My advert has a
powerful character who rescues the victim from the bullies. The other advert
shows the boyfriend rescuing his girlfriend from her strict parents.
Reference the technical qualities of your advert compared to the professional
one (does yours show off any interesting/visual impressive skills)?
• I’m very impressed with my skills editing the green screen effect because I
never did it before. The tutor taught me how to use the software editing
program which was easy to use.
• I edited the smoke by changing the colour. I removed the green screen
background then I clicked the colours option and choose orange because that
is a good match for Irn Bru.
• I wanted my advert to look professional by adding subtitles. This is very
important to me because I am Deaf. I added subtitles using selecting suitable
fonts on the DaFont website. I choose a nice bold clean font because this is
more easy to read quickly. After I added the font I coloured the subtitles orange
with a blue halo effect, this was intended as a match for Irn Bru.
• I am proud of the scene in which the ‘superman’ character drinks Irn Bru and
gains super strength. I edited two scenes together and added orange smoke to
represent a change happening as he drank. I am sure this adds more visual
impact for the audience.
• I had some previous skills using a camera. I wanted to improve on my previous
skill and try to get rid of blurry images and problem with lighting. So this year I
want to use a camera in a more professional way.
What techniques did you use to produce it?
What was difficult/complicated to do?
• I edited my short film in Premiere. Premiere is a program which edits, sounds,
special effects, and imports, to make your own short film.
• I was struggling to use the green screen effect because I have never used it
before and I really want to learn it. The tutor instructed me how to use it and
then I tried on my own but I was still struggling again.
• Some of the scenes are not good enough, they are static. I wanted the camera
to move because movement gives the audience a more interesting perspective.
If the camera shots are still this can make the audience bored.
• I had a problem with the Irn Bru logo because I copied it from the internet. I
didn’t own the copyright. Therefore, when I saved it and then opened it later
the logo had disappeared. So I decided to remove the logo making my advert
easy to save and import.
• I wrote the storyline for my idea about an Irn Bru story. My idea focuses on how
to stop bullies because this is based on personal experience. Bullies are every
where and can make their victim’s suffer with poor mental health. So, my idea
was to protect victims from the bullies.
What are the strengths and
weaknesses of your own advert?
• Strengths:
• My camera is fully HD and all the scenes are very clear.
• I improved my green screen effect skills. That is very important to short films and movies because I
want short film and movies to be fabulous.
• The camera was at the perfect level because we used the tripod to stay level. Sometimes we used
our hands for more difficult shots because the ground surface was not always level.
• Alice and Alan liked my idea for the storyline because they thought mine told a more important
story.
• I added the subtitles for the Deaf audience.
• Weaknesses:
• During filming I did feel left out because I was struggle to understand all the hearing students.
Group work is difficult for Deaf students in a hearing group.
• We had lots of bloopers during filming because some of the students who were acting were
distracted and talked with others people not being filmed. Some of them had the giggles, silly
facial expressions and odd body language. This is because they are not experienced actors, we
were short of time and they were not fully prepared.
• This was not just the acting students because the crew were the same. Alice and Alan were
distracted by talking to their friends who didn’t join the group.
• We had some confusing about the script and storyline because this was not clarified and finalised
before we started filming. We need to make sure we have enough time to to do this in future.
How would you change your advert if
you could do so?
• I need more professional skills with the green screen effect. I would add some
more special effects like explosions, strange backgrounds or headless
characters.
• I need to contact my actor friends or other students who are studying
performing arts to be my characters because I want my characters to look
professional, using body language and facial expressions.
• I would make another video advert but shorter this time, perhaps 3 versions,
each shorter in time. I see this on TV all the time. Adverts are edited down
until the release of the item, program, or time of year, such at the John Lewis
advert at Christmas.
• I will create the logo in Photoshop because I don’t want copyright issues to
cause problems. So I must recreate my own Irn Bru logo without copyright.
• I need to bring a lighting kit next time because I want the screen to be brighter
like a professional movie. That is important because I want to see the
characters more clearly.
• I will make the subtitles brighter, making them easier to read. I think the
original subtitles are too dark.
First I researched the green
screen effect and I found
one smoke effect and
downloaded it to Premiere.
After I downloaded the green
screen effect I then selected
the effects, typing “Ultra key”
which shows “Video Effects”
and “Keying” and finally “Ultra
Key”.
After I edited the
green screen effect, I
clicked ’Lumetri
Colour” to change
the colour on effect. I
chose orange
because I wanted it
to match Irn Bru.
Then I selected the
colours circle and
accepted orange to
put in the effect.
I clicked the “Effect
Controls” editing to
remove the green
background and added the
colours, brightness and
contents on smoke.
Finally, after I selected the colour I wanted a smoke effect. I selected the
”Razor” which edits two scenes to make one seamless . Then, I added the
orange smoke to the middle of the two scenes to make sense of the boy
drinking then turning into ‘superman’.

Discuss the similarities and
differences?
• I made my character with a side walk which is very similar to a real video game
called New Super Mario Bros.
• I used a different background because I had to create my own idea of the
background. I created the background for each level from easy to hard. However,
the original game’s background is similar to mine because each of their levels also
has different backgrounds.
• My prize that my characters get is different to New Super Mario Bros.
• The challenges are similar because their characters try to attack the player which
are similar mine. I had the attack characters and I created the bully because the
bully wants to attack the player to lose.
• I created the gun for the player to shoot to the attackers. Other games are
different from mine because they use fireballs to throw to their attackers.
• Mine also differs from New Super Mario Brothers because my bully dies with a
multiple flashing effect. New Super Mario Bros only use one flash when the
attacker is killed. I like lots of flashing because this is more visible for Deaf players.
• My game is similar to other games at the end because I used “Game Over and You
Won!” These are important because all the games have it and they show that the
game is actually over.
Reference the technical qualities of your advert compared to the
professional one (does yours show off any interesting/visual
impressive skills)?
• I have been learning how to use tweening. I had been struggling to use it because
it’s harder than I thought. However, as I improved my skills the quality also
improved.
• I am really happy with the level three background because this had thunder and
dark clouds to make it look terrifying. The background will give the audience the
feeling that it is hard to play.
• My level three floor has a separated floor, making the player hop through trying to
avoid the flames below. I want to make the audience feel more excited.
• I am proud with the shooting to kill the bully. I created the player handgun and I
also created the bullet as Irn Bru because this links to the advert about Irn Bru. So,
the player kills the bully by shooting him with an Irn Bru bullet and then the bully
dies with flashing as mentioned earlier.
• I’m impressed that I created the flashing of thunder because I want it to look real. I
used the colour yellow because lightning is yellow. I copied an image of thunder
clouds from the internet, of different sizes.
• At the beginning of the scene I added a list of levels. I created three games with
levels one, two and three. I put the list for the audience to decide which they
wanted to pick. I labeled these “Easy”, ”Medium” and “Hard”.
What techniques did you use to produce it?
What was difficult/complicated to do?
• I found tweening difficult, trying to get it to move smoothly from scene to scene. I need to
keep practicing.
• I’m really stressed with the background because after I created it I then started to create
the characters and items. I needed to add more detail but this meant working with the
tweening again, from scene to scene. This was difficult.
• I struggled with the characters and items because of the tweening. To make one character
look like they are running I put one leg on the back and the other leg on the front. Thi
made other scenes look wrong because they didn’t more properly from one scsene to the
next.
• The bullets are invisible in some scenes.
What are the strengths and
weaknesses of your own advert?
• Strengths:
• I’m really impressed with my video game because this is my first time creating my own
video game. I still need to improve some areas to make it look more professional.
• I enjoyed learning how to use tweening because at first I was struggling with how to
improve it.
• My player’s legs have perfect movement for this type of game.
• At the beginning, I put colour on the list of levels because this helps the player know
which level they are going to play.
• Weaknesses:
• My video game doesn't look professional because my game is blurry. I need to improve
my drawing skills and also develop more control with the timeline.
• Some characters and items jump from place to place in each scene. I need to check the
timeline to make sure they stay in the same place from ne frame to the next.
• This is also a problem with the words ‘You Won!’ Next time I would copy and paste into
the same place on each scene.
• The background and characters move too fast. I need to make them move a little more
slowly.
How would you change your advert if
you could do so?
• I would change the background because I want it to be completely different
from the old Irn Bru video game. I would create a big house for the player to be
able to walk around the house, with plenty of rooms.
• I would create more the bullies to make the game harder because the house
has plenty of big rooms which means there would be space for more characters.
• I would also create lots of different guns to give the audience more choice. Then
player would get more experience with different guns.
• At the end of the game I would like to make a giant monster to make the player
terrified. This will be more interesting for the player.
• I would alter the font to make the audience more interested in playing the
game. I want to make the audience feel more enthusiastic.
When I created the list of levels. First I clicked the ”T” for words then I also clicked the shape font and I choose the
“Minecraft” because it’s can match pixels to make clear. So, I was typing the words “Easy”, ”Medium” and “Hard”. Then I
clicked “Rectangular Marquee Tool” for put three rectangles in behind of each words and then I clicked the ”Paint Bucket
Tool” for put the colour on rectangle. I choose three colours for put each three levels to make more clarify.
When I want to draw my characters, items and background. I clicked the ”Pencil Tool” to draw the characters, items and
background. Before I draw, I clicked the “Pencil Tool” then I clicked open to “Brush Preset Picker” to choose size of pencil
and I picked size 1px because 1px to link pixels and draw very clear to see it. Then, after everything is set and I start draw
them.
I want to my background move through all the scenes. First, I put one image of background on the left scene and I put
other same as image on the right. Then, I clicked the ”tweening” and it’s will be lots of scenes with move of
background. Also, after I created characters and items, I put them into the layers. For example, I want more of Irn Bru
Bullet but don’t need to draw create other bullet because I had quick and lazy way, I clicked the one layer and hold to
move to “Create A New Layer” for copy and paste on new layer to make more bullets. When I don’t want some items
like mistake or don’t need it. Then I clicked the one or more layers and hold to move to ”Delete Layer” to removed the
layer.

  • 2. Real Video • Structures and techniques of TV advertising – The real video has linear because the perfect correct order and there are not sequential. The linear are best because that is very simple to understand what happened through the video. Sequential are difficult to understand because there had lots of jump different scenes. I can tell the camera are very professional HD and focus. There had lots of shots because the shots on each characters, one shot on the group and other shot close up with Irn Bru. The shots are important because the shot point the characters who is talking. The producers had decision to make it because they show to the audience to realize that Irn Bru can make them feel change mood. • Factors of Persuasion – The producers had been use factors of persuasion is expert power because the boyfriend had a idea to persuade his girlfriend to drink it make her avoid her parents and got to party. That is how clever he is and the producers want to persuade the audience can be avoid to meet their relationship’s parents and have good life with relationship. They want to be more popular of Irn Bru than Coca Cola. The video is successful romance and love because they want to give the audience who have partner/relationship/marriage will be more interesting ad they will want to problem solve with their families. The producers' idea to describe to the audience about the Irn Bru can make the audience feel thirsty and want to drink it. • Styles of advertising – The styles of advertising is successful romance and love because the real advert had talking about relationship and meet their parents. They are awkwardly because her father to asked him to marry her. Then he brought can of Irn Bru to persuade his girlfriend to drink it and decide to hang out the party. That is how successful romance and love. That is definitely persuade to me because I want to drink it. Also, I want to be ice-breaking because I hate be awkwardly with family or friends or lesson. The video had good impressive to the audience because there had part comedy and relief because their parents are strict, her boyfriend’s idea of party and her mother was join with her! That is definitely comedy romance.
  • 3. My Video • Structures and techniques of TV advertising – I decided to choose linear because I would like my video is simple story and give my audience will understand clarify. I had lots of shots because I want my video look amazing and excited. If I got one or two will be absolutely boring. I had edited to add a smoke when the boy drink Irn Bru turns to superman and I am sure that will make the audience feel shocking and impact like “Wow!”. My camera had sometimes HD because some focus are not good enough which means not professional enough. I had to decision to made that video advert because that video are very important to the audience who are LGBT and victims. So, that’s why I decide to create LGBT advert video. • Factors of Persuasion – My factors of persuasion is expert power and reward power. First, expert power because the boy before was depressed, scared and nervous. So, after drink Irn Bru then turns to more confident and strong with lovely handsome and abs. That is how make the male audience want to drink it to be like him. Secondly, reward power because my video are important to link the audience’s emotions because my video is talk about LGBT romance. That is important because I want to show good positive for the LGBT and other advert videos doesn’t have LGBT yet. • Styles of advertising – The style of advertising is successful romance/love and self-important/pride. My video talking about the boy rescue the victim from the bullies and they are fall in love. Self-important/pride are important because I want to tell the audience need be confident and brave to stand to the bullies and don’t let them beat you. Also my video had LGBT because I want to show the LGBTs can confident and brave to stop the homophobias. I want to all the audience need to save from the homophobias/bullies and become more accept equality.
  • 4. Real Advergame • Structures and techniques of advergames – The game called “New Super Mario Bro” and that is similar my video game. The video game are made from professional Photoshop because that was very clear and smooth jumping/throwing/running. They are use lots of jumps because there had brick boxes, pipes, money and stars on the air. There are also throwing because some had attacks like mushrooms and turtles. The video had 8 levels from easy to hard. From the first image of level 1 look nice bright and calm. The second image of level 5 look cold, nervous and careful. The third image of level 8 look dark, terrify and worry. They had decision to made it because the video game are too attractive game. • Factors of Persuasion – The video has factors of persuasion is reward game because that is over attractive game. That is fact because I was play it before and I was become to attracted it. I am believe all the children audience will be attracting too. The producers had lots of selling of the popular game because most of children are love it. Also, referent power because the family are trust the game. They brought it and give their children to play it because the game had some skills to learn how to start first experience game. • Styles of advertising – The style of advertising is childhood and experts. First, childhood is best because I was kid and I played that game. That game was best memories ever I had! I am sure all other kids well be same as me. The advergame suitable the children play it. The video game are popular of childhood. Experts is important because the video game had teach the kid to learn skill game activities like step up of levels to learn from easy to hard. The video game are genuis because there had both childhood and experts link to kid’s emotional and skills.
  • 5. My Advergame • Structures and techniques of advergames – I created my video game in Photoshop. I also created my characters superman (player) and the bullies. I had three levels in my game because I created level one is easy then level two is medium and level 3 is hard. In level three of my game, I decide to created more hard to player must run with jump through the scenes because I don’t want to be boring same as in level one and two of my game player running on the ground without any actions. • Factors of Persuasion – My advergame have factors of persuasion is coercive power because that was not professional enough. The background and characters look absolutely blurry. I believe my audience won’t buy my game because of look not clarify. But I will persuade to my audience to buy my game because I would like they will playing my first video game and let’s see what are their reactions and opinions. • Styles of advertising – The styles of advertising is childhood because my video game suitable for the children to play it. My game look more enthusiast and energetic because I want to make my audience children become to attracting my game. I want to my game for kid’s activities and give their first experience to control play it.

Discuss the similarities and differences? • My video is similar to other videos because the both videos are the same as they are both advertising the drink, Irn Bru. • In each of the adverts the characters feel unconfident, awkwardly, silent and uncomfortable then after drinking Irn Bru at the end of the scene they became confident, happy, smiling and comfortable with each other. Each advert starts with a negative image. Then as the story develops and results in a positive end because the characters have drunk Irn Bru. • My advert is different from the other adverts because my story shows how drinking Irn Bru can stop the bullies. This is an original idea of mine. • My advert is different from the other adverts because my main character, a boy, becomes really powerful in order to rescue the victim from the bullies. Other adverts focus mostly on the emotional impact of drinking Irn Bru. • Both adverts use different settings; my advert was filmed outside with the other one being shot indoors. • In each of the adverts the characters are rescued by a hero. My advert has a powerful character who rescues the victim from the bullies. The other advert shows the boyfriend rescuing his girlfriend from her strict parents.
  • 8. Reference the technical qualities of your advert compared to the professional one (does yours show off any interesting/visual impressive skills)? • I’m very impressed with my skills editing the green screen effect because I never did it before. The tutor taught me how to use the software editing program which was easy to use. • I edited the smoke by changing the colour. I removed the green screen background then I clicked the colours option and choose orange because that is a good match for Irn Bru. • I wanted my advert to look professional by adding subtitles. This is very important to me because I am Deaf. I added subtitles using selecting suitable fonts on the DaFont website. I choose a nice bold clean font because this is more easy to read quickly. After I added the font I coloured the subtitles orange with a blue halo effect, this was intended as a match for Irn Bru. • I am proud of the scene in which the ‘superman’ character drinks Irn Bru and gains super strength. I edited two scenes together and added orange smoke to represent a change happening as he drank. I am sure this adds more visual impact for the audience. • I had some previous skills using a camera. I wanted to improve on my previous skill and try to get rid of blurry images and problem with lighting. So this year I want to use a camera in a more professional way.
  • 9. What techniques did you use to produce it? What was difficult/complicated to do? • I edited my short film in Premiere. Premiere is a program which edits, sounds, special effects, and imports, to make your own short film. • I was struggling to use the green screen effect because I have never used it before and I really want to learn it. The tutor instructed me how to use it and then I tried on my own but I was still struggling again. • Some of the scenes are not good enough, they are static. I wanted the camera to move because movement gives the audience a more interesting perspective. If the camera shots are still this can make the audience bored. • I had a problem with the Irn Bru logo because I copied it from the internet. I didn’t own the copyright. Therefore, when I saved it and then opened it later the logo had disappeared. So I decided to remove the logo making my advert easy to save and import. • I wrote the storyline for my idea about an Irn Bru story. My idea focuses on how to stop bullies because this is based on personal experience. Bullies are every where and can make their victim’s suffer with poor mental health. So, my idea was to protect victims from the bullies.
  • 10. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your own advert? • Strengths: • My camera is fully HD and all the scenes are very clear. • I improved my green screen effect skills. That is very important to short films and movies because I want short film and movies to be fabulous. • The camera was at the perfect level because we used the tripod to stay level. Sometimes we used our hands for more difficult shots because the ground surface was not always level. • Alice and Alan liked my idea for the storyline because they thought mine told a more important story. • I added the subtitles for the Deaf audience. • Weaknesses: • During filming I did feel left out because I was struggle to understand all the hearing students. Group work is difficult for Deaf students in a hearing group. • We had lots of bloopers during filming because some of the students who were acting were distracted and talked with others people not being filmed. Some of them had the giggles, silly facial expressions and odd body language. This is because they are not experienced actors, we were short of time and they were not fully prepared. • This was not just the acting students because the crew were the same. Alice and Alan were distracted by talking to their friends who didn’t join the group. • We had some confusing about the script and storyline because this was not clarified and finalised before we started filming. We need to make sure we have enough time to to do this in future.
  • 11. How would you change your advert if you could do so? • I need more professional skills with the green screen effect. I would add some more special effects like explosions, strange backgrounds or headless characters. • I need to contact my actor friends or other students who are studying performing arts to be my characters because I want my characters to look professional, using body language and facial expressions. • I would make another video advert but shorter this time, perhaps 3 versions, each shorter in time. I see this on TV all the time. Adverts are edited down until the release of the item, program, or time of year, such at the John Lewis advert at Christmas. • I will create the logo in Photoshop because I don’t want copyright issues to cause problems. So I must recreate my own Irn Bru logo without copyright. • I need to bring a lighting kit next time because I want the screen to be brighter like a professional movie. That is important because I want to see the characters more clearly. • I will make the subtitles brighter, making them easier to read. I think the original subtitles are too dark.
  • 12. First I researched the green screen effect and I found one smoke effect and downloaded it to Premiere. After I downloaded the green screen effect I then selected the effects, typing “Ultra key” which shows “Video Effects” and “Keying” and finally “Ultra Key”. After I edited the green screen effect, I clicked ’Lumetri Colour” to change the colour on effect. I chose orange because I wanted it to match Irn Bru. Then I selected the colours circle and accepted orange to put in the effect. I clicked the “Effect Controls” editing to remove the green background and added the colours, brightness and contents on smoke. Finally, after I selected the colour I wanted a smoke effect. I selected the ”Razor” which edits two scenes to make one seamless . Then, I added the orange smoke to the middle of the two scenes to make sense of the boy drinking then turning into ‘superman’.
  • 14. Discuss the similarities and differences? • I made my character with a side walk which is very similar to a real video game called New Super Mario Bros. • I used a different background because I had to create my own idea of the background. I created the background for each level from easy to hard. However, the original game’s background is similar to mine because each of their levels also has different backgrounds. • My prize that my characters get is different to New Super Mario Bros. • The challenges are similar because their characters try to attack the player which are similar mine. I had the attack characters and I created the bully because the bully wants to attack the player to lose. • I created the gun for the player to shoot to the attackers. Other games are different from mine because they use fireballs to throw to their attackers. • Mine also differs from New Super Mario Brothers because my bully dies with a multiple flashing effect. New Super Mario Bros only use one flash when the attacker is killed. I like lots of flashing because this is more visible for Deaf players. • My game is similar to other games at the end because I used “Game Over and You Won!” These are important because all the games have it and they show that the game is actually over.
  • 15. Reference the technical qualities of your advert compared to the professional one (does yours show off any interesting/visual impressive skills)? • I have been learning how to use tweening. I had been struggling to use it because it’s harder than I thought. However, as I improved my skills the quality also improved. • I am really happy with the level three background because this had thunder and dark clouds to make it look terrifying. The background will give the audience the feeling that it is hard to play. • My level three floor has a separated floor, making the player hop through trying to avoid the flames below. I want to make the audience feel more excited. • I am proud with the shooting to kill the bully. I created the player handgun and I also created the bullet as Irn Bru because this links to the advert about Irn Bru. So, the player kills the bully by shooting him with an Irn Bru bullet and then the bully dies with flashing as mentioned earlier. • I’m impressed that I created the flashing of thunder because I want it to look real. I used the colour yellow because lightning is yellow. I copied an image of thunder clouds from the internet, of different sizes. • At the beginning of the scene I added a list of levels. I created three games with levels one, two and three. I put the list for the audience to decide which they wanted to pick. I labeled these “Easy”, ”Medium” and “Hard”.
  • 16. What techniques did you use to produce it? What was difficult/complicated to do? • I found tweening difficult, trying to get it to move smoothly from scene to scene. I need to keep practicing. • I’m really stressed with the background because after I created it I then started to create the characters and items. I needed to add more detail but this meant working with the tweening again, from scene to scene. This was difficult. • I struggled with the characters and items because of the tweening. To make one character look like they are running I put one leg on the back and the other leg on the front. Thi made other scenes look wrong because they didn’t more properly from one scsene to the next. • The bullets are invisible in some scenes.
  • 17. What are the strengths and weaknesses of your own advert? • Strengths: • I’m really impressed with my video game because this is my first time creating my own video game. I still need to improve some areas to make it look more professional. • I enjoyed learning how to use tweening because at first I was struggling with how to improve it. • My player’s legs have perfect movement for this type of game. • At the beginning, I put colour on the list of levels because this helps the player know which level they are going to play. • Weaknesses: • My video game doesn't look professional because my game is blurry. I need to improve my drawing skills and also develop more control with the timeline. • Some characters and items jump from place to place in each scene. I need to check the timeline to make sure they stay in the same place from ne frame to the next. • This is also a problem with the words ‘You Won!’ Next time I would copy and paste into the same place on each scene. • The background and characters move too fast. I need to make them move a little more slowly.
  • 18. How would you change your advert if you could do so? • I would change the background because I want it to be completely different from the old Irn Bru video game. I would create a big house for the player to be able to walk around the house, with plenty of rooms. • I would create more the bullies to make the game harder because the house has plenty of big rooms which means there would be space for more characters. • I would also create lots of different guns to give the audience more choice. Then player would get more experience with different guns. • At the end of the game I would like to make a giant monster to make the player terrified. This will be more interesting for the player. • I would alter the font to make the audience more interested in playing the game. I want to make the audience feel more enthusiastic.
  • 19. When I created the list of levels. First I clicked the ”T” for words then I also clicked the shape font and I choose the “Minecraft” because it’s can match pixels to make clear. So, I was typing the words “Easy”, ”Medium” and “Hard”. Then I clicked “Rectangular Marquee Tool” for put three rectangles in behind of each words and then I clicked the ”Paint Bucket Tool” for put the colour on rectangle. I choose three colours for put each three levels to make more clarify. When I want to draw my characters, items and background. I clicked the ”Pencil Tool” to draw the characters, items and background. Before I draw, I clicked the “Pencil Tool” then I clicked open to “Brush Preset Picker” to choose size of pencil and I picked size 1px because 1px to link pixels and draw very clear to see it. Then, after everything is set and I start draw them. I want to my background move through all the scenes. First, I put one image of background on the left scene and I put other same as image on the right. Then, I clicked the ”tweening” and it’s will be lots of scenes with move of background. Also, after I created characters and items, I put them into the layers. For example, I want more of Irn Bru Bullet but don’t need to draw create other bullet because I had quick and lazy way, I clicked the one layer and hold to move to “Create A New Layer” for copy and paste on new layer to make more bullets. When I don’t want some items like mistake or don’t need it. Then I clicked the one or more layers and hold to move to ”Delete Layer” to removed the layer.
